"Sushi Bar is a Japanese spot serving up Edomae-style sushi in the heart of quaint Old Greenwich. While the takeout is some of the best around, we recommend going in person, keeping in mind that it’s BYOB—there’s a wine shop a few doors down with an ample sake selection if you forgot yours at home. The chef makes every component of his sushi from scratch, including ground-to-order fresh wasabi and a sweet house-marinated ikura with taut and glossy (but never slimy) eggs. First timers will enjoy the omakase for its breadth of techniques and bar-raising nigiri toppings, like crispy onions, foie gras, and caviar. Supplement the omakase with at least one cut roll, like the salmon tsukemono with fatty chopped fish juxtaposing a rainbow assortment of pickles. Skip the dumplings, as they’re one of the only things not made in house, and instead save some space for crackly matcha creme brulee for dessert." - chloe zale, ciera velarde

This place has become a weekly must have! The whole experience is perfect and the sushi is by far the best I've had. I've moved out of my comfort zone and tried pretty much everything on the menu and never disappointed. Chef Rio is wonderful… he takes the time to tell you all about the sushi he serves and recommends must tries. Sharon makes you feel like you are coming to eat dinner with family. I recommend sitting at the bar for a great view of the magic Chef Rio puts together.

Everything you expected and then some. Rio and Rosie knocked it out of the park. A must try...what are you waiting for. You will not be disappointed. The only thing is that the TOG has not gotten around to give them a liquor license. Don't let that stop you. Delicious!

Two times we have reserved to have dinner at a table and when we get there it’s an uncomfortable bar space. Never again will I try to go here. But we had a wonderful dinner at Siren just down the street.

I went in on Friday evening and was seated right away at the bar. The staff were very friendly and took the time to get to know me. I got the nigiri maki deluxe, 1 ikura masago, and the matcha creme brulee. Everything was delicious! It’s on the pricier side but I would definitely come back.

Google
It was a very pleasant surprise. Restaurant is small, but elegant. All the dishes were fresh and of great taste. We stopped in the Bar after a walk in Tod’s Point and they were not open yet, but let us in. It is our new favorite place now and we will definitely come back.

Google
Delicious food all around the menu, super friendly staff and fast service. I’ve eaten sushi up and down the east coast and this place is in the top two in my book so far. I ordered a basic spicy tuna roll (if the basic rolls are good just imagine the specialty rolls). I’ll go back tomorrow and update this review not that I can rate any higher however I’m looking forward to it!

Extremely fresh, high end, high quality sushi! Yes it’s not cheap, but this is Old Greenwich after all. Thankfully, this sushi is worth every penny! We started with the miso soup, excellent flavor. Delivered quickly. Then ordered the binney roll, spider roll and Riverside roll. Packed full of flavor and you can’t beat the presentation. Also love their attention to detail with the paper crane chopstick holder, and warm towels to cleanse your hands before you eat. We loved sitting at the bar where you can observe the chefs making their masterpieces, using all kinds of blow torches& exotic knives. It is BYOB, but if you forget there are a couple of wine/alcohol shops right near by to grab something to sip on. Finished with the strawberry & chocolate mochi ice cream. Was delicious and the perfect way to end our sushi date night. Will definitely come back, grab your reservation before it fills up!

Yelp
Literally the best sushi I have ever had! Everyone is so friendly and inviting and the fish could not be fresher! We come every week and it's so consistent. My husband and I think it's better than any NYC sushi spot. Do yourself a favor and check this gem out!

Yelp
Wow so happy this place is on UberEats. Definitely best sushi in the area....surprised not that many people know about it.

Yelp
Phenomenal. Maybe my sixth visit here. Today, solo lunch. I loved this place from the first visit, and rather than simply accomplishing the impressive feat of consistency, sushi bar achieves even more deliciousness, constantly improving. The chef Rio has a lot to do with that. But I even dig the place settings, the cloth napkins, the origami chopsticks rester and the whole setting here. Sashimi is super fresh and shows great knife work. Eel roll was solid. Presentation beautiful - check out this picture. And the value of $27 is unassailable. Even the soup isn't a simple/lame miso-konbu, it is made from slow roasting fish collar and the depth of flavor is obvious. Love this place. Good for them! Rio is the boss!

Yelp
The best sushi restaurant in Connecticut. We started off the night with edamame, gyoza, ginger salad, and a bottle of white wine. They don't sell alcohol at the restaurant, but there is a liquor store right night store and you can BYOB. The ambiance of Sushi Bar makes it feel that you're on an intimate date. The restaurant only has a few tables and sushi bar seating, but it's perfect for a date night or girls night out. I always recommend making a reservation. The service is amazing. When you sit down for your meal, they pour warm water on these adorable tablets that turn into warm wash cloths. If you want to be well taken care of, ask for Rosie. Rosie takes the best care of us every time we go and we absolutely love her! For the main course, I got the nigiri maki deluxe and my friends got some of the signature maki rolls. The quality of the sushi is phenomenal and we already have plans to come back next week!

Yelp
This is my boyfriend and I's go-to spot for sushi / date night, we come 1-2x a month. Ambiance is intimate but not romantic. BYOB so saving on overpricing of alcohol. Wait staff is attentive and the sushi is excellent. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar to watch the chef and his team prep the food.

Yelp
Having moved to Connecticut from Manhattan we have been excited to try new spots. Sushi Bar is definitely one of my favorites and everything you would want in your go-to sushi restaurant. Chef Rio is kind and quiet...but also a genius in showcasing the best ingredients. Every bite of my omakase was better than the next. This is a hidden gem that I fear may not be hidden for long. Make sure to get a bottle of sake before you come as it is BYOB. 5/5

Yelp
Great addition the the Greenwich food scene. Have been there twice so far and couldn't be happier about the experience and quality of the fish. Nigiri is the way to go here and their omakase was excellent. Lunch is well priced and has great options. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Don't forget to bring your wine or sake as the restaurant is BYOB.

Yelp
The best chefs, simply outstanding quality fish, lovely simple presentation, and pleasantly small so not a factory operation.

Yelp
Our 4th visit. Consistently well presented high quality sea food as well as service. A great addition to the community.

Yelp
WOW! WOW! WOW! I could eat here every night if my budget allowed.. This is one of the most delicious sushi spots in Greenwich, CT. The location itself is just adorable in Old Greenwich. I had dinner here the other night and was extremely satisfied with the quality of the fish and the portion sizes. I ordered the Crispy Rice with Crab, and Poke Bowl, I am still dreaming about it. The hostess and waiter were absolutely darling to my party of 3- I can't remember her name, but the hostess made sure we had everything we needed and even joined in on a conversation which made it all the more welcoming. The waiter, was efficient and made sure all questions/concerns were acknowledged- they were beyond transparent. I like how they do not service alcohol but encouraged guests to stop by the local liquor store a few doors down- I love this because its helping other business!

Yelp
The freshest sushi in Greenwich. Love the spicy tuna rolls, veggie rolls, miso soup. Great for dining in and takeout. The staff is also incredibly nice.

Yelp
Sushi Bar is a hidden gem in Old Greenwich. The quality of the sushi truly rivals the best in Manhattan. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and above all, talented! Love eating at the sushi bar and have also ordered take out several times and the caliber of this spot is truly impeccable.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
If you're looking for high quality, delicious sushi in a laid back atmosphere, this is the place to go. The nigiri might just be the best in town. Extremely fresh and good size pieces of fish - which is hard to come by. We sat at the sushi bar and the staff were friendly and attentive. Rio, the sushi chef, and Rosie, the maitre d, were particularly great. If you're lucky enough to get a reservation, make sure you order the aburi sake nigiri. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
I like their miso soup, salad and salmon tataki. But everything after that was not good. I ordered a piece of crispy rice with snow crab. For $9 a piece I was expecting the experience to be at least transformative if not orgasmic. It's literally a 1"x1" piece of rice with some crab on top. Maybe a touch of mayo to combine the crab. Wish I took a picture to show how much of a rip off that was. I could have done a better job at home. Then my husband I both ordered the maki combo. It came with two rolls, a salmon avocado and tuna cucumber. Both rolls were small and boring. I am not exaggerating when I say that I've had much better sushi from a supermarket. My husband is not a very picky or snobby guy but even he commented on how bad it was and didn't even finish the rolls. I don't mind paying a lot for good quality food but this unfortunately is not it. Which is really unfortunate since Greenwich really needs a good sushi place.
