Excellent! The wasabi was the best I've had outside of Japan, I've been actively looking since my trip in 2014. Sashimi appetizer had fresh thick cut yellowtail, thin sliced salmon and thick cut soft tuna on a shiso leaf. I made a little wrap out of the leaf and string radish with some of thst gorgeous wasabi and cleared out my sinuses! Complimentary Clear mushroom soup and fried krab appetizers were a nice touch. Both were delicious! If you're in the area, this one is definitely worth a go. Other hi lights were the filet mignon and lobster hibachi, fried rice cream and eel avocado roll (protip: add cucumber!)

This place was a pleasant surprise, we wanted both sushi and hibachi. Although, we thought we were going to a place that cooks on the grill in front of you, the atmosphere was still nice abs we enjoyed our meal. The sushi was amazing! We ordered the mango roll, volcano roll, tiger roll, dynamite and sushi bear rolls. They were fresh and appetizing. They even provided us with a complimentary sushi at the start of our dining experience.

Sushi bear used to my go to spot for ordering Hibachi, well not anymore! The food used to be full of flavor and cooked to perfection, not anymore!! Past 3 times I’ve ordered the Hibachi steak and chicken and it was disgusting. The steak overcooked a chewy even though I order medium rare, the chicken also chewy and tasted burnt. The chow mein tasted like soggy noodle with no flavor and the “fried rice” tasted like completely flavorless white rice with soy sauce added for color to add appearance of being fried even though it wasn’t. I could get a better meal for a fraction of the price anywhere but here. I guess when a place gets big they stop caring or maybe change in management who doesn’t care. I have you all 3 chances and it shows consistency in bad quality. For 28 dollars a meal this is a complete ripoff and a sad excuse to call Hibachi. I was going to suggest catering for my company but not anymore. If you would like you a chance to redeem yourself I would like the manager to contact me and provide me the meals I paid for. And the food did arrive hot and fresh but was still terrible quality.

We’ve been here 3 times in the last month because it’s just so delicious and affordable. We got 3 rolls — all of which were fresh, delicious and generously portioned. $45 out the door including 20% tip - with the complementary soup and little fried crab bites moments after we sat down, we were stuffed. Quick and yummy!

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this sushi place. The atmosphere was good, the service was outstanding and the food was fresh with great flavor. The staff was very attentive. I would definitely come here again.

I went to late lunch with friends here yesterday and had a great experience. We were looking for a moment of peace in the midst of moving one of our friends. The staff was so nice and we all had deli’s food that was really comforting and super tasty. I will be making a point of going back.

Very nice staff, we got confused because they brought us 2 bowls of Miso Soup, but then they brought a sushi roll and then they brought us fried dumplings. So I told the waiter there was a mistake, he said they were ALL on the house! I was like okay, needless to say we had plenty to eat before we even got our order. All the food was great and the prices are average like any sushi place.

Dynamite roll fried was delicious and the Rock N Roll fried was my favorite. I recommend, our waitress Rayan was very attentive, also I ask him if he can replace the avocado for crabmeat instead without no problem he said yes. The restaurant is very nice, clean and fun.

I ordered pickup from Sushi Bear through the Uber Eats app. I arrived at the time the app said the order would be ready and it was. I was greeted when I entered and asked if I was dining in or picking up. The staff was very nice. The inside was larger than I expected with 2 sections of booths and tables, along with a sushi bar in the back. I ordered 2 rolls and they were packed well, with soy sauce, yum yum sauce, chopsticks, and napkins. It was my first time so I went with a California roll and the Rock N Roll. Both were solid options and it's obvious they use quality ingredients.

Hidden gem alert! Found this spot in a random shopping center while I was out and craving some sushi, and wow - what a pleasant surprise. It was a pretty early dinner, so the place was quiet, but honestly, I'm shocked it wasn't packed out the door after tasting the food. I started with the classic clear soup, which, let's be real, isn't anything groundbreaking, but it did the job. Then came the mysterious appetizer... was it a tempura crab roll? A mini sushi explosion in every bite, and I'm still not sure what to call it, but it was good. Oh, and they threw in some egg rolls, because why not? For the rolls, I kept it simple with the rainbow roll and Alaska roll. My friend went with the Alaska roll and a crazy roll - which was allllmost too pretty to eat. All the rolls were fresh, tasty, and exactly what I was hoping for. no weird sushi surprises, just good, quality food. Service was quick and friendly, and I have to mention how shockingly reasonable the prices were. In today's world of sushi sticker shock, this was a breath of fresh air. Plus, they've got a lunch special that's calling my name, so I'll definitely be back. Overall, Sushi Bear is a solid spot that deserves more love. If you're in the area, give it a try - it's got good food, good prices, and even a good name. What more do you need?

Best sushi in Jacksonville that I've had!! It's fresh, consistent, and never disappoints! The atmosphere is also better than you would think from a place in a strip mall. Service has also always been fast and responsive.

This place has high quality sushi, the rolls here are excellent. They also give you free clear soup which is nice. Fairly priced as well.

Good but not great. The service is amazing. The complimentary soup, roll, and fortune cookies are nice. The sushi presentation was a 4/10. Taste was 6 out of ten. Walls were written all over which I think is their thing. The bathroom was clean.

Our family has been coming here for years and love the sushi. We also love the items from the kitchen that are hibachi style. If you are celebrating a birthday this is hands down the best place in Jax for the birthday song. The staff is on top of your table and really act fast to serve you.

We went for lunch today and took some friends that has never been to Sushi Bear before. They loved what they got for lunch! We always get the hibachi with fried rice and chicken. Today we decided to get the shrimp and it was delicious. I think we will get this next time as well. We also got the Dynamite Sushi Roll to share. This is just one of our favorites. Our friends got the hibachi with fried rice and chicken. They said "wow" after lunch and said they can't wait to come back. Today the service was great! The food was great! The atmosphere was great! * Today they sang happy birthday to a person at the other table. This was soooo neat how they did it. Hopefully when you go you can hear them sing happy birthday.

The sushi was fresh and fast! 3 specialty roles were enough for two adults. We also had edamame and soup. Prompt and frequent service visits. Full restaurant, very popular. Will go back.

I met a friend for lunch on a Saturday around noon at Sushi Bear. We arrived just before the lunch rush and quickly placed our order. I decided on the 3 roll special: -- Salmon Roll - simple and delicious. -- Alaska Roll - fresh salmon and avocado with crunchy cucumber. My favorite of the bunch. -- Spicy Tuna - not really much spice but good flavor. The fresh tuna was really good. The 3 roll lunch special came with clear soup and a small ginger salad which were both tasty. Lots of food for an affordable price! All in all, Sushi Bear was a great lunch spot! Great sushi, prices and service. I would definitely visit again.

I usually enjoy this place. But we were here recently and the sushi was sloppily made. On this day the restaurant was not that busy. But the sushi was still made sloppy and you could tell they rushed the process of rolling the sushi. I understand wanting to be fast and get orders out in a timely manner. But sushi is not supposed to be sloppy or hard to grab.

Service is always fast and efficient with a very friendly staff. The portions are very generous and I feel like the size of the specialty roll I ordered with eel on top was comparable with the price of $14.95 that's charged for it. It's pretty huge! They started me off with a complimentary appetizer and clear broth soup garnished with tempura for added flavor. And I also ordered a hot green tea which was perfect. Not soon after, my specialty roll was served and it was fresh and tasty. More than enough for me to eat and I ended up taking a few pieces home. The ambiance is always nice and comfortable despite how busy they were on a Thursday afternoon, I was always checked on by several members of the staff. I love coming to Sushi Bear and I would recommend whether you are coming to celebrate with friends or dining alone. Plenty of tasty items on the menu for everyone's palate!

Walking in the ambience was very nice as well as the staff was very friendly and courteous. Also, they were very attentive. The food was totally delicious. I didn't know what to expect, but I will definitely be returning.

I've been to this many times and I've also recently started ordering delivery via a service. The atmosphere is fun and inviting and just wait until you see them celebrate someone's birthday. I also get hibachi and it's not a grill in front of you, but the quality that they ensure is done would make you think differently. Even with to go it's been a great experience.

The lighting is warm and the scenery is original. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful. The servers were very attentive and patient with us, answering any questions and accommodating our needs. They were excellent and that's all I can really ask for. The appetizers were DELICIOUS! The gyoza was okay but everything was flavorful. The main course was amazing, my wife loved all her rolls, and the crazy girl roll was tasty. Everything was enjoyable. The portions were so plentiful that we couldn't finish all of our food. Pricing was good considering portion size and taste, especially for how good the food was.

Lively place with good food. Not just sushi, but Japanese dishes like katsudon and teriyaki meat and vegetable dishes are well made, tasty and filling. There's more to Japanese cuisine than sushi and sashimi.

This is my favorite sushi spot. I always get the chicken noodles as something to share for the table! I live far from here now so don't get to enjoy it as much but always crave it! The staff is soo friendly and the space itself is clean, spacious and bright

The service is really good! I haven't had their sushi but based off their name, I think it would be pretty good! They have a nice interior!on the left wall where I usually sit they have like colored wood blocks that have little drawings! Fried rice is good too.

PSA: Most tables have the less sodium soy sauce, they have the regular kikkoman inside, just ask the waiter for it if you're used to it, or it will feel like the soy sauce needs sault. thats what I did. Amazing service, they gave me a free 6 pce and 2 mushroom soups when we came in as courtesy, WTH; The rolls are fantastic, with an unbelievable presentation, this place is also ridiculously inexpensive, I ordered 3 rolls with soda refills and the bill was 35$ (they dont charge refills) most specialty rolls are 10-11$, and the regular ones go as low as 5$, absolutely worth the drive, and I just come from Miami.

It's been a while since my last review for Sushi Bear, I felt compelled to write another one. This place is consistently great. Food is super tasty. Service is excellent & the restaurant is clean. Friendly staff. Always my go-to when I can't decide on lunch. Convenient & so close to my office too. Lunch specials is the best compared to other Sushi places, for quality & reasonably priced. My honey & I shared the 3 sushi combo lunch special. Total meal under $20. I highly recommend!

Sushi bear is pretty good if you are looking for cheap sushi! Staff has always been friendly and welcoming and food comes out fast. They also give you a free starter (soup and normally a little taste of an appetizer) which I think is awesome. My husband and I have eaten here a few times and we are never disappointed especially for the price. Check it out if your in the area!

Nice little spot in a plaza, got seated right away. I ordered the tiger roll, it was so good I should've ordered 2. I also got a side order of shrimp fried rice. It was decent. Hubby ordered the steak and chicken, it came with noodles and a cup of rice. The staff was very nice and attentive.

This was our first visit to Sushi Bear. In the area, needed a quick lunch, pulled up Yelp - happened to be in the same parking lot - can't beat that. My sister and I took our time review the menu. They have so many options it's hard to choose. The server was very patient in answering our questions and giving her recommendations. Prior to even ordering we were brought a complimentary Philadelphia roll. It was yummy and just made us ever more excited to eat there. We opted to do one of the lunch specials (they have several) that included two rolls, salad, & soup. The soup was marvelous. Simple broth with mushrooms. Very tasty. The salad comes with ginger dressing, which was excessive for the amount of lettuce, but had a great flavor. I ordered the Dynamite roll and the Shrimp Tempura roll based on our server's recommendation. The Dynamite has salmon, crab, and has a wonderful sauce on top with a nice amount of heat. The outside is tempura battered and crispy. The shrimp tempura had crunch shrimp inside and was incredible. Their yum-yum sauce, served in a squeeze container, was oh so good. Your rolls are served with fresh sliced ginger and wasabi. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Definitely going back, soon! Next time I will ask for less ginger and wasabi, just to avoid wasting it, as I only used a little bit.

I am an avid sushi eater and Sushi Bear did not disappoint. I started with Gyoza fried that were really good but soon after they gave me a roll of sushi ‍ but it was good (if anyone know let me know). They the main course was served. I was pleasantly surprised how yummy it all was. This is definitely a sushi place to try when you are craving good food.

This place had me hooked from the moment we walked in and Celine Dion was playing. It's like the Applebee's of sushi restaurants, and I say that in the best possible way. There's fun decor with an extraverted atmosphere that makes you want to gather up all your friends on a Friday night and go eat sushi. There's a graffiti wall with cool customer drawings. And when it's somebody's birthday, they turn the lights down and play an edm version of "happy birthday" while the servers sing and play rock tambourines and light desserts with sparklers. Oh and did I mention, the food is INCREDIBLE! Such fresh sushi and at a good price point. We got the love boat for 2 which had some of the best salmon I've ever had. Sashimi, rolls, nigiri gave you the full experience. And the white tuna nigiri was unbelievably buttery and scrumptious. The special roll we picked (comes included with love boat) was shaped into a heart- I've literally never seen sushi like that! So many points for creativity and presentation.

I had been wanting to try this place from all of the recommendations from The Scoop page on Facebook. We happened to be in this area and stopped in. They give you complimentary soup and fried krab roll. We had the rainbow roll, green dragon roll, and Kelmon roll and they were all very tasty. I took a gamble on the kelmon roll and I'm really glad I did. It's different than other rolls I've had other places and a good combination of ingredients and tons of crunch! I like dipping my other rolls in the leftover crunchies so it was perfect. The green dragon roll did fall apart a little, but it was still good. I'd go back again if I'm in the area. I'd love to make it for their lunch special sometime.

I came here with a friend after she picked me up from the Jacksonville airport. It was busy on a Sunday night around 8:30 PM, which usually is a sign of quality if entire families are out that late. We ordered a selection of rolls: sushi bear, jaguar, eel avocado, spicy salmon, and black dragon. The rolls were all elegantly presented, almost too beautiful to eat, but yet we devoured them all. We also ordered some of the cheesecake. Overall the service was fine, prices were average, and the flavor was on par with any other sushi restaurant I have been to before.

Sushi Bear is Always Good ever time we're in town. It's a must visit if you're looking to get full.

I've been here before. Not sure if I ever did a check in and review. So, I am going to do so now. I met my Yelp friend, Austin O. here today at noon. We were given a complimentary appetizer of crab stick tempura. I ordered a small hot Saki to start our meal and conversation. We had appetizers(I had veggie tempura and he had Tuna Tartar), then we both ordered the 3 sushi combo lunch. With that came soup and a salad. I ALWAYS choose ginger salad dressing. All was very good. Service was impeccable. Pros:all was great Cons:no hint of Ginger taste in the salad dressing. Would I recommend this place? Most definitely I would!

While the food is impeccable and the staff is extremely friendly, I feel that it's my duty to leave this review.. to warn you. I was dining here today, straight vibing while chowing down on some shrimp tempura.. when the music suddenly stops.. mildly eerie.. moments later all the lights shut off.. I'm scared of the dark so this was especially traumatic for me. Then out of nowhere I hear a tambourine behind me.. a candle lights up at the table across from me and the staff is surrounding them.. They start singing happy birthday, but by this point it's too late. I've soiled myself.

I hate to give 3 stars, because the service was great, but the tempura was bland. I don't recommend it at all. I had the chicken and vegetable tempura. All was bland. The mushrooms were watery (often expected, but bland). It was pretty greasy too. Again expected, but I don't think it was left to drain the excess oil long enough. However, the sushi is always a winner! I appreciate that they give a free Holiday roll as an appetizer. It's delicious! The Hibachi is alright.

What a fantastic place! This is in that one strip mall of niceness that is dumpy Ortega. Service was quick and on point. We received some soup while we were trying to figure out what we wanted to order. And then we received a complimentary roll while waiting for our food! And it was VERY GOOD! We got edamame for an appetizer (it was a LARGE portion) and it was salted nicely! We also got some Sake, but for the life of me I cant remember the name of it now (thats what I get for waiting a month after our visit to write up the review-ugh). Our rolls were huge and delicious. Really unexpected for the location. The inside was very clean and open. They have a big extravaganza for birthdays. It wasn't ours, but we were able to witness one. Pretty legit! 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone. Wish I wrote this sooner so I could tell you the rolls we got. Man! Just means we will have to return so I can update my review ;)

This is definitely the place for birthdays. They treat you right with a chicken shumai app for free when you sit down. Everyone loves free apps! Love the sushi and the hibachi here and it's always delicious. We sometimes get hibachi here to go and it's delicious after a 20 min drive. Gave 4 stars on this trip because the service was a little sun par compared to the many times I've been and it's been fantastic, also out of a lot of sake's but they didn't recommend the basic one they had when I kept asking for different junmais, they just kept saying they were out but finally got around to the basic junmai sake they had and I would have taken that from the beginning.

We were served miso soup immediately upon being seated.. It was watery and tasteless. The salad with the traditional Chinese ginger dressing was also bland with little taste. We ordered the sushi bear love boat. It was fine. Nothing special. The fish was mediocre. The ginger was sitting in water and had an off taste. We didn't use it. The service was good.

I ordered by phone and when I went to pick up my order the girl saw my military ID and made a 10% off which was unexpected but very appreciated! I asked for chicken teriyaki lunch special and it was great and very good portions with fried rice and veggies, the miso soup so flavorful and fresh ginger salad. The restaurant by itself looked clean and organized, I didn't eat there but I noticed it while I was waiting for my order. Excellent choice!

If I could give ten stars I would. Sushi Bear exceeds our expectations time and time again. The food: sushi, sashimi, miso soup, salad- everything we've tried has been consistently exceptional. The staff are amazing. Recently we celebrated our six year old's birthday here, and let me tell you the staff here made her feel so special! She has always been a picky eater but the Holiday Roll is her fav and I never thought she'd be into sushi but this is her favorite spot! Why try any other sushi joints in Jax if Sushi Bear checks all the boxes?! This place is the best!

Great place! We had the sweet heart roll and double salmon roll, the fried cheesecake was amazing!
