Sushi by Bou- Chelsea NYC @ Bosque Flowers & Coffee

This was our fifth time at a Sushi by Bou (all locations we’ve been to 10/10) but somehow it keeps getting better every visit.The omakase was phenomenal!! Every piece was melt-in-your-mouth perfection and the chefs make the whole experience feel fun and engaging. The vibe is intimate, the cocktails are amazing, and the staff are so kind. We’re already counting down to the next visit

Got the "bougie" Omakase for $100 and it was very good. We loved every piece and our chef was both capable and personable. The host was also enjoyable to talk to. This is the 3rd Sushi by Bou location I've tried and I've liked them all.

We had an incredible experience at Sushi by Bou in Chelsea! The intimate, speakeasy-style atmosphere made the night feel special from start to finish. The omakase was outstanding: fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly paced so you can really savor each piece. The expert chef made sure we were enjoying each piece. What truly set the night apart, though, was the service. IMAX, the manager, was absolutely amazing. From the moment we walked in, he made us feel welcome and taken care of. His energy was fun yet professional, and he went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. You can tell he genuinely cares about creating a memorable experience for guests. Between the delicious sushi and IMAX’s incredible hospitality, Sushi by Bou is a must-visit in Chelsea. I’ll definitely be back!

Sushi By Bou Chelsea is hands down one of the most unique and enjoyable sushi experiences I've had in NYC. From the moment you walk in, the vibe sets it apart; dimly lit, stylish, and tucked behind a discreet door like a speakeasy. It feels exclusive without being pretentious. Hip-hop plays in the background, giving the space an energy that’s fun and modern, yet still refined. I went with the 12-piece omakase, and every bite was a standout. The experience is timed (about 30 minutes), but it never feels rushed. The chefs are right in front of you, preparing each piece with precision and flair, and taking the time to describe each selection, including where the fish came from and what makes it special. Everything was incredibly fresh, the rice was perfectly seasoned, and even the ginger was amazing (they refilled my ginger at least 5 times). You can tell the ingredients are top-quality, and there’s a lot of care that goes into the preparation and presentation. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. Our chef was engaging and made the experience feel personal and fun. I personally don’t drink alcohol, but my husband and his friends LOVED their drinks so much that they had multiple even though we had planned to go to a cocktail bar afterwards. If you’re looking for high-end sushi with a laid-back, cool vibe (and not the usual hushed omakase setting), Sushi By Bou in Chelsea is a must. It's perfect for date night, special occasions, or just treating yourself. I’ll definitely be back to one of their multiple locations throughout the city.

Was served by Chef David, we got the base set omakase - incredible! I personally liked the fatty tuna, but my gf liked the yellowtail. You can’t go wrong with whatever they give you, but it was our first omakase and it was out of this world. 1000% recommend, make sure to buy your chef a drink 👌

Everything about our experience was amazing. We were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The staff was attentive and worked smoothly around us so not to disturb our conversation or experience. The chef's creations were delicious and he was clear to explain each dish. I highly recommend coming here!

As a seasoned sushi eater, this was my first omakase experience, and it was exceptional. From the start, the vibes were incredible. Host Imax made us feel right at home in a space that feels elegantly decorated yet intimate—almost like visiting a friend’s home. The sushi itself was outstanding. Each piece was expertly balanced with the perfect touch of condiment to highlight the fish, with the toro being a clear standout. We were able to linger over our bottle of sake without ever feeling rushed. I will definitely be back!!

This was my first omakase experience and it was incredible! My group had a great time, great atmosphere, awesome staff (shoutout to IMAX!), and super affordable compared to other cities I’ve seen with 12-courses for only $65. I’m still daydreaming about the miso cod… Next time I’m in NYC, I’ll def be back! Highly recommend.

I did the 17-course omakase experience at Sushi by Bou in Chelsea and it was absolutely worth every second, even after sprinting from the 23rd Street station and arriving two minutes late, sweaty and out of breath. Our host was incredibly attentive and immediately made me feel taken care of, offering a refreshing sake and then a perfectly chilled bubble Coke to help me cool down from the New York heat. The sushi itself was outstanding. Every piece was incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. The pacing of the meal was just right and the overall vibe struck the perfect balance between intimate and lively. For a Chelsea spot in New York, I genuinely cannot believe the quality and experience are priced this well. I will definitely be coming back and maybe walking a little slower next time.

This was my first omakase experience! Sushi by Bou is hidden inside a coffee shop, so it is already a vibe walking in. It's a small intimate space with limited seating. We got sat down promptly and they gave us hand wipes. I did the $65 12-course set: 1. Hamachi Yellowtail - delicious, melt in your mouth, tender piece 2. Akami Lean Bluefin Tuna - also amazing piece 3. Botan Ebi Spotted Prawn - not my favorite.. I didn't like the taste nor texture 4. Ikura Salmon Roe - loved this one, nice salty burst of flavors, great texture 5. Bincho Albacore - forgot this one 6. Magur Chopped tuna - also forgettable (?) it's good ! 7. Hotate Scallop - I like scallop 8. Gindara Miso Black Cod - THE BEST PIECE, love the flavors, the smokiness, everything. ugh i can die happy 9. Toro Fatty Tuna - delectable 10. Wagyuuni Surf n Turf - Tender wagyu piece..I think perhaps I'm not an uni person (?) very fishy 11. Sake Salmon - as expected salmon 12. Unagi BBQ Eel - can you go wrong with eel, great Best piece by far and most memorable is the gindara miso black cod. I loved my experience here although the chef did not talk to us nor explain much about it. He just plopped the fish onto our plates and that was it. No complaints though because it was delicious. Nice atmosphere, intimate, fun, good date spot.

Might be a decent place for sushi beginners, but a bit disappointing for an omakase. We took advantage of the $55 at 5pm deal for a birthday celebration dinner. I don't love the speakeasy concept when the "front" of the store serves no other purpose than a stop before check-in. But we were taken to the back right away and asked to sit in the couches until it was time for our service to start. The counter was pretty small, it looked like they could take two or three parties at a time, but there was only one other party for this time slot. The sushi was ok, everything tasted fine and no one got sick from the fish. But I've had better high-quality fish before. I did appreciate that much of the menu was approachable. The ingredients were all laid out. A couple of pieces stood out. I think the uni was one of the better uni I've had in New York, very smooth in texture and flavor, buttery without being too punchy. I usually hate eel, but the unagi was also great in texture and not too strong in taste. Service was a little strange. Almost no conversation, and I felt like we were being rushed. For a 60 minute seating, I wish the meal was paced a little better because we were out of the restaurant in 40 minutes.

Tucked in the back of a coffee/flower shop. It was a good and simple omakase experience! I did the 12 course! Drinks are great here and the pieces were all so fresh and good! They have a small area in the front with tables where you can get drinks too if you're waiting to be seated next! Can't go wrong with a sushi by bou experience!

The layout of this place was really cool. The entrance is a speakeasy so it's a fun experience for a group. The service was tremendous, extremely friendly and helpful. Very willing to explain the specifics of the menu. The sushi overall is terrific. The presentation the flavors just the overall quality Was great. I took my son here. We really enjoyed it. Look forward to doing it again.

Love the speakeasy vibe in here -- very well decorated! Our server and bartender were very friendly and funny. All the sushi was high grade but the standouts were the salmon and miso cod -- basic but great. I didn't think I liked roe but this one changed my mind. Even the uni tasted fine and usually I hate that. Great spot for an intimate dinner.

I hate to give anyone a one-star Review. But after thinking it through, I think I should let people know that I was violently ill after I ate there for the next 48 hours. I could not hold anything down. Headaches and non stop stomach cramp . This is for $69 dollars 12 courses plus special promotion with a saving of $35 dollars 17 courses. One of the pieces was highly salted, another was overly sauced, and another had scales on my fish.

Came here for a birthday dinner and honestly was skeptical because of the price point. 17 course for only $100 per person I was ready to have a mediocre omakase but honestly it wasn't bad ! Drinks were strong and delicious. If you come a tad bit early they seat you by the bar where you can look through drinks and order one as they prepare for your timeframe. The workers there are amazing and friendly, welcoming and would often chitchat with jokes thrown around. We had free sake with the chef as a birthday celebration and honestly was getting me a little warm. Very smooth going down. The sushi itself was decent. I will say. This was the only place I had truly enjoyed ebi. I usually dislike the raw ebi only because of its texture and how soft it is but our chef had ensured me that I would like it. And I did ! Ambiance is a bit less Japanese like and more modern bar meets American cuisine interior. Not too bad if I do say so myself.

The store is a bit inconspicuous and I would have missed it if I wasn't with two other people. It's cute that the restaurant is behind a cafe. The best pieces for me was the scallop, eel, miso cod, etc. The chefs conducted themselves professionally and were engaging. Overall, I think the fish was excellent quality but the size of the rice+fish was on the smaller side. The rice+fish was the same length. We went at 5PM, an early dinner for $55 per person, which is $10 less than the usual omakase. After tax and tip, it was $70. I thought the price was high for the amount of food we got and I would try another omakase to compare the experience.

Excellent experience for about 50 minutes at an affordable omakase price of $65 for 12 curated sushi bites. Each made in front of us with care and special combo of seasoning depending on the fish. We enjoyed every bite. Cute space, small with only 9 seats at sushi counter and a lounge table area and a small bar. Overall loved the sushi quality and presentation and the pricing

10/10 from greeting to service to food. Imax was phenomenal. Chef Jack was great and vibes overall... was pretty cool. I came in one evening by myself wanting to see what the hype was about. I didn't know there were many locations until I chatted with Imax. Santiago was also great. A solid team they have at this location. I would come back not only for the food, but for the great company I had. Thank you for an amazing time!

Initially I had booked at time square but it turned out to be vegan sushi only (whatever that means) luckily we got changed to this location at a earlier time so ended up having to trek from time square to here but made it just in time. The sushi bar is located past the coffee shop and when we first walked through we were seated at the drink bar area so we were a little confused. Turns out they were clearing the table and setting it up for the next group of people. My friend and i ended up ordering drinks with yuzu she got the honey bee and I got the one that was more citrusy (hers was better) drinks go for about $18 here. Booked the Bogo deal and I think it was a good price for bogo but I probably wouldn't pay full price for it since time peices or the sushi were TINY! It was still good for the price, my favorites were the miso cod and the toro! The toro just melts in your mouth and you can't go wrong with cod. Our chef was funny and kept us entertained the whole time. Minus one star cause I'm not sure if the size of their sushi is normally this small or if it was cause it was bogo... but Would highly recommend coming for bogo.

There are 2 options; a 12 or 17 course omakase for $65 or $100. Either way, the seatings are limited to 1 hour. We chose the 17 course option and were happy with the food quality, speed of service, and friendliness of both the chef and manager. Definitely worth visiting for a fast omakase. Note the restaurant has a cool entrance at the back of a coffee shop!

not all omakase pieces photographed fyi booked a bogo deal at sushi by bou which was incredibly worth it! i came with some good girl friends on a thursday night and we were seated immediately. they were confused on our reservation so although we were a group of 4 - 2 of us arrived a bit before the other 2. we were seated immediately and served - but before the other 2 arrived which was a bit weird - our 2 friends arrived about 5 min after the resy time. it was a 12 course omakase but i will say, ive been to a different location before and the pieces were much smaller here!! and at the other location- we got a lot of extra bites and shots and other free bees so i was surprised to not have the same experience. never the less - our omakase guy really did a good job and was really funny and kind. the 12 pieces HIT - tuna is my favorite and there were like 3 tuna pieces. also had scallop, surf and turf, salmon, and much more. at one point my friends and i were using one of those fore guns to cook our meat so that was a silly fun interactive experience!!! the price here bogo or not is very good for quality omakase - would definitely come back and recommend

Stopped by Sushi by Bou for a quick dinner and I loved how it was a speakeasy-style spot hidden behind a cafe. The fish was fresh and it's a quick in and out kind of place, which worked out since we had plans afterwards. With only about 6 bar chairs, the restaurant itself is cozy and intimate. The sushi portions felt a lot smaller compared to other omakase spots we've been to. Overall, it's a cute place with fresh sushi, but considering the price, I think there are other omakase spots in town that offer a bit more for the same value. Not sure if we'll return, but it's worth checking out for the experience!

While the restaurant was pretty cool, the sushi itself was disappointing. The sushi counter was hidden behind a coffee shop, and there were tables for you to grab a drink if you arrive early. However, the rice with each course was way too salty and so overpowering that it was hard to taste anything else. The meal itself was also pretty rushed. From being seated to paying the bill, it was about 40min. They have to pace it so that each round of reservations is seated at the same time, so there's not much leeway to stay longer or be late.

The food is amazing the fish is always fresh and the menu changes seasonally. The drinks are refreshing and strong depending on your taste. Service is amazing!

This is a long overdue review of my favorite omakase in NYC. I don't live in NYC but come a few times a year for work and I always work in an omakase dinner. Sometimes it's the higher-priced, stuffy, 3 hour omakase courses but I find I always prefer an experience like Sushi by Bou more. I love the vibes and small number of seats at the counter. I like the concept of the cocktail area where we could hang out before and after our reservation. The sushi is delicious; leans slightly more fushion than traditional but a fushion that works beautifully. The staff are talkative and fun. IMAX is a hoot and takes good care of you - a few years ago my friend and I had the last sitting at the Times Square location and we stayed and drank ourselves silly. It is one of my fondest memories and it was so nice to see IMAX again at Chelsea! Don't come here if you want that super fancy, expensive, quiet and dull 3 hour omakase. Go to Sushi by Bou if you want delicious omakase at a great value (a steal for NYC, honestly) with great company and service.

Ummm not really. Very good food, but the vibe and service is so awkward, the setting is kinda dumpy. Weird like you're in an SNL skit. You enter through a coffee shop / flower shop, so you're thinking cool, like a hidden gem speakeasy vibe? No. The checked out teen girl checks your res, you go through a door and the awkward too-forward host asks you again, then you're seated. Decor is a hodgepodge of mismatched junk, the tables and chairs are dinged and scratched like a deli, the host is the kicker... he's berating his staff in French (yes, I speak French, you're gross. You don't air your crap with staff on the floor. TACKY!) Ten minutes to the end of the 60 minute service he comes and says we're moving you. Another party is here. Really? We're actually just waiting for the check! Maybe just try another approach to this - or make THEM wait?! We laughed it off, not a fuss, but just.... cheap. Anyway, wouldn't recommend. It's like a if there was a mall in NJ that had Omakase, this would be that.

The sushi here was incredible!! And the vibes were impeccable as well. Our bartender, Stefani, was iconic. She has made the best gin martini with a twist I have ever had. I will come back for not only the meal but also the sushi!

Amazing food and great host in charge. Highly recommend it if you like omakase. Nit cheap, but worth the money.

One of my favorite dining experiences! Loved the vibe inside and Orby was amazing!! Everything tasted very fresh. I'm glad we went with the extra few courses because of how good everything was. We will definitely be back!

In terms of vibes and ambiance, this location is definitely the most appealing visually. Service unfortunately was lacking- our 12 course omakase probably finished roughly within 30 mins of the first piece. The various fishes didn't taste the freshest either, slightly fishy. Wagyu was a noticeably chewy cut. Best piece was probably the scallops.

Food was mid to decent but I wouldn't recommend them because they do not honor their offers. I bought a 2 for 1 offer from them with no mention of an expiration date on the offer page or confirmation email. I emailed them to book a reservation using the offer and they still didn't mention anything about my requested date being "outside the offer window". I arrived 45 mins early and still no one mentioned that my offer was no longer valid. They waited until we finished eating to hit us with a bill. They only offered us the dollar amount we paid as a discount and explained that the offer ended 3 days ago. How convenient. It was my first time here and it will be my last. 1000% would not recommend--both because they aren't trustworthy and because the food isn't worth the price. You can get a better omakase with more pieces for the same price elsewhere in the city.
