Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"Sushi By Bou is an omakase chain with several locations in South Florida. Like the rest, their new Wynwood location has a chaotic interior and serves a 12-course omakase for $65 (and a 17-course one for $125). If it’s good, it just might make our guide for where to eat omakase sushi under $100. " - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Absolutely LOVED and would definitely come back to Sushi By Bou. A very intimate, but laid back atmosphere that was bumping ‘90s hip hop which is ABSOLUTELY my vibe. The fish was fresh, the drinks were amazing and the service was phenomenal. I HIGHLY recommend the Big Mac. It’s what they’re famous for and it hits all the right spots. Definitely get a reservation and you’ll thank me for coming to this omakase!

Google
I was at Sushi By Bou for their Omakase experience recently and enjoyed their sushi a lot. While it is a trend for sushi places in the area to offer unreasonable priced omakase experiences, Sushi by Bou delivered a solid product. I was much happy with the freshness, quality and price ($65 for 12 pieces). While it seems expensive, it is a fraction of what I would have paid somewhere else. Additionally, I enjoyed the quality so much. All in all, I couldn’t be happier and will come back soon, this time for their upgraded experience (17 pieces).

Incredible value omakase. Got treated like royalty by Louis and chefs Jason and Jimmy. Been to Japan several times and had a few $300+ omakase experiences, and Sushi by Bou hits way above its price. Very high quality fish and probably the best value you can get for quality sushi. Loved the seasoning pairings (yuzu, pickled wasabi, truffle oil on the otoro). Definitely a hidden gem for very high quality sushi.

Tucked away in Wynwood, Sushi by Bou offers an intimate speakeasy-style omakase experience that blends Japanese tradition with a modern, Miami vibe. From the moment you step in, the dim lighting, sleek decor, and curated music set the stage for a unique dining adventure. The omakase itself is a meticulously crafted journey through fresh, high-quality nigiri, each piece brushed with the perfect balance of soy, yuzu, or wasabi no extra dipping required. Standouts included the buttery Hokkaido scallop, rich uni, and melt-in-your-mouth wagyu nigiri with truffle. The progression of flavors keeps you engaged, and the chef's storytelling adds a personal touch to each bite. Since it’s a fast-paced, 12-piece omakase in a one-hour seating, the experience is structured but never feels rushed. The cocktail menu complements the sushi well, with options like a lychee martini or a refreshing yuzu-infused highball. If you're looking for an exclusive, interactive omakase that won’t break the bank, Sushi by Bou is a solid pick. It’s ideal for date nights or small groups wanting something beyond the typical sushi night out. Just be sure to book in advance, as the space is limited!

Google
Sushi by Bou in Wynwood is a no-frills, fast-paced omakase experience. Don’t expect high-end service—no one checked in to offer a cocktail mid-meal, and when someone asked if they served drinks, the response was vague. The setup is straightforward, with paper napkins and an efficient flow. The sushi itself is average—not bad, but not top-grade either. That said, for $65, getting 12 pieces of nigiri is a solid deal, especially if you’re more focused on quantity over premium quality. If you’re looking for a casual, budget-friendly omakase without the extras, it works. But if you’re expecting exceptional sushi and a polished experience, this isn’t the spot.

Sushi by Bou in Wynwood is an absolute gem! The omakase experience here is outstanding—every piece of sushi is fresh, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. The chefs are skilled and friendly, making the whole meal interactive and memorable. The ambiance is intimate and chic, with a modern vibe that fits right into Wynwood. I highly recommend going for a special occasion or just to treat yourself; it’s well worth it! From start to finish, this place delivers on quality and service. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
This was my first omakase style dining experience. I got to try many different things I've never had, like the Toro and some caviar. They sit you around a bar that fits about 14 people. They hand you the food with their bare hands and they emphasize eating with your hands, so if you are a germaphobe maybe skip out on this lol. It's not a lot of food, but it's absolutely delicious. Very pricey.

Google
Definitely recommend trying at least once. It is a very good deal for 12 or 15 pieces of omakase. Pieces were all good with a lot of flavor. This is not a traditional formal omakase, but this is exactly what the restaurant is going for. They have loud hip hop music playing and shoes hanging above the bar. So, have your expectations set right and could be a fun experience.

Yelp
Although the dinner has a time limit, it doesn't feel rushed. We got the 17 course menu. Some highlights were the ikura (salmon eggs), the tuna toro with caviar, of course, and the scallop, Wagyu, uni hand roll. There are add on bites you can order, but we were quite full after the last piece. Drinks are pricey compared to their actual value, but we still got the Perfect Snow sake to complete the experience. The service is great, the chefs explain the course and it's also written up on a chalkboard. The ambience is dark with music that is not so loud that you can't have a conversation.

Yelp
If you've never been to a Sushi by Bou experience, well now is your chance! These are quick pop-up style vibes with laid back hip hop vibes that makes you feel like you are just chillin with your friends. Including the sushi chef! There is no pretentiousness here. Come as you are, the guests that have your seating time also contribute to the atmosphere so if you are here with a few friends or solo-dining, you don't feel alone. This is great for the price and experience of omakase style. Everyone was positive vibes here. The decor was fun and all tied in with the theme and name of the items too. Great attention to little details there. The food was great. It depends on the level you are critiquing, but I think it's pretty on par with the cost. You get 12 pieces, for $50 or whatever your deal is, plus a little sake. Who can complain?! I love it. I'll post the pictures of the food, there's also a menu of what to expect. And although this isn't an authentic omakase, you can still experience the vibes. This is great for people that want to socialize, and enjoy the human aspect of sushi dining. The quality of the sushi was good, and prepared with just enough attention. This is a great option if you are down for fun and want an introduction to sushi bar omakase style. My roomie brought her family here and it was the first time for most, they all loved it even though they didn't eat raw fish . There was one part of the night they let my friend torch the sushi. (Yay fireeee ) I also love how there is flexibility to order more pieces or upgrade the menu, you can also order off the drinks menu as well. Everyone was super friendly. Definitely try this if you haven't been to something like this before!!

Yelp
I love Sushi by Bou and I have been in many locations (including several NYC locations and Fort Lauderdale.) Unfortunately this was one of the lesser experiences, mostly because of the food. It might be because it was just opened and staff is getting the hang of it but the pieces are smaller than usual and overall lower quality. I will give another go, not giving up because I love the chain so much and this location is much closer to my home. Bar service and ambiance are great as is the hotel where it is located.

Yelp
My first Omakase experience! The sushi was fresh, curated with unique flavors, and the vibe was cool. The ambiance is similar to a speakeasy serving sushi! My friend purchased a BOGO deal online. However, the gratuity is added to the bill based on the original price of the bill. All and all, we ended up spending way more than we bargained. I think we each ended up paying around $110 per person (including the BOGO) for the Omakase experience. Pretty pricey! The service was excellent. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, unique, however it was small. Its was like ordering al a carte sashimi and nigiri. Even after paying roughly $110 per person for a party of 4, we left there hungry and ended up getting Pizza after. Nice experience but I would not be back. It wasn't worth the cost.

Yelp
This was some good sushi (not that I am any expert). You see them make it and intantly enjoy it. The giant biggie portrait is a little strange, but the server was great.
google avatar

Yelp
this place has been so hyped from my instagram so when they has a BOGO promo i was excited. It was $65 for 2 ppl. It was advertised as omakase Speakeasy. BUT Omakase directly translates to - "I leave it up to you." Omakase, a chef-curated dinner, is famous for its direct interactions with the chef. The many was already selected meaning the chef didn't really curate them. With us at least, there wasnt much interaction with the chef besides him putting the sushi on our plate and explaining the foods FOOD: B for the food it was Ok sushi but not worth the price CUSTOMER SERVICE: was attentive and friendly. The chef DID GREAT WITH THE FOOD. but interaction wife it was lacking COST: $$$$ SERVING TIME: 1 sushi at a time AMBIANCE: speakeasy. Loud. there was so many different decor OUTDOOR seating: none PARKING: street or hotel parking

Yelp
WOW! The flavors here just blew me away. I've had several different omakase experiences and this was the most tasty! We did the 12 course 60 minute experience and every bite was just WOW. The cocktail I had, the "another one" was also great! I will say, I left here still a bit hungry even after adding 3 a la carte pieces, but maybe that's just me. The salmon roe / ikura was unbelievably tasty, I've never had it before because I'm always scared to Try it, but I honestly wouldn't order it anywhere else than here! The saucy cod was insane, and we loved the chopped tuna "maguro" piece as well. Can't wait to come back here. 65$ for 12 courses is a great deal and SO worth it!

Yelp
Perry good BOGO deal. Quality sushi and selection of drinks. Fun vibe and friendly chefs / servers. On the deal, it's great if the 12 small pieces are enough for you. Adding on drinks and extra bites quickly expands the bill (yeah get it from a business perspective). While flavorful small bites, the satiety of the meal was low. I ended up eating again when I got home. All in all, decent way to get an introduction to an omakase without a typical intimidating bill, but you maybe don't want to get there hungry.

Yelp
Such a fun spot! Open since Aug 2024, with choice of 12 or 17 pieces. Loved the chopped tuna and wagyu uni. Free Sake shot mid omakase and the cocktails were splendid. They also have a la carte you can order post omakase.

Yelp
Located inside Arlo Hotel, when you enter the hotel, take a LEFT all the way to the elevators and click 3, this will lead you to a speakeasy (sushi by bou), trust me I got lost because I walked into the higher grounds bar not knowing sushi by bou was right there.. So just a heads up, YOU ARE AT THE RIGHT PLACE :) Had a really great experience tonight! Greeted by JULIE!! who was super sweet and energetic, definitely brought the vibes of this location. I liked wynwoods theme of being hip-hop vibes (converse decor, interior design was pretty spectacular). CHEF DAVID!!!! You were a TREAT!!! I loved how great the team was. This definitely made me love omakases even more. Thanks for serving us tonight. There definitely was a difference between Fort Lauderdale vs. Wynwood though. Guess you'll just have to go to both to find out ;). My favorite options were: Truffle Otoro Caviar, waygu +uni!!

Yelp
Great experience! I can't wait to come back. I don't typically make it down to Miami, but completely worth it! Next time I'd upgrade to the larger portion. Service was great. They have a cozy lounge area to grab a drink before dinner. Lots of great backgrounds for some photos!

Yelp
I love the concept of an intimate setting, small and romantically lit. There were two things I loved about this place. First and most importantly the food was delicious!! All 12 courses seemed simple to the eye, but flavors were complex. All the 12 courses seemed similar in presentation, but were very distinctive in flavor. And the other was the service. It was very friendly and courteous. The chef seemed very experienced and professional. On the downside, decoration seems haphazard. What it could have been an elegant spot, looks cheaply made. I'm very familiar with tasting menus and gourmet food, and I really enjoyed this experience, more than regular dinner concepts, but the size of the courses was extremely small. Altogether it could have been an appetizer of a regular meal. Drinks were unimpressive. Anyways, on the good side, they also have a lot of deals going on, so take advantage of one of them, and try the delicious food, I think it is worth it the experience.

Yelp
When you walk into a restaurant, and hear "All falls down" by Kanye playing, you know the night is going to be a good one. The decor is so cool, with a huge painting of the late and great Biggie Smalls. We were sat with about 12 people at the sushi counter. It was so fun to watch them prepare the pieces and yap with the chefs. The drink names are so cute and 90s hip hop inspired. I had the gin & flowers which wasn't too sweet (good thing) just fresh-tasting with muddled cucumber and lime. The omakase was 12-course, which left us feeling full but not unmanageable. Our menu included: Yellowtail, lean tuna, spotted prawn, salmon roe, albacore, chopped tuna, scallop, miso cod, fatty tuna, salmon, surf-n-turf, and bbq eel. Fatty tuna was my favorite (a classic) and bbq eel surprised me with how flavorful it was! Such a fun and delicious night! Would recommend for any sushi fan (and especially a hip-hop head)

Yelp
Incredible experience! This was my first time omakase and it surely did not disappoint! I snagged a buy one get one offer. The vibe was so 90s hip hop! Love. Small quaint , fantastic service and delish!

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing. I almost wrote this place off due to the silly reservation policy but so glad we didn't. First the reservation situation. We made dinner date reservations a few weeks in advance. Yes, when you make the reservation, they make it very clear that you have to change the reservations within 24 hours or you will be charged $100/pp. The morning of our reservation we were watching the news and found out that Taylor Swift was in town so we quickly pivoted and picked a restaurant a little further north instead to avoid the Taylor scene. When we called a representative that I can tell did not work at the restaurant and seemed very serious and a bit rude about the last minute change. After some convincing they did accommodate and allow us to change the reservation, but would not allow us to cancel it without being charged. I get the policy but all the years of making reservations I have never seen a restaurant unwilling to make a one time courtesy to accommodate a guest. On the day of the reservation despite leaving over an hour in advanced from FLL, we were pushing close to the 15 minute grace period after missing an edits. I was getting nervous that we'd be charged the $200 for being late. Again, I called the number on the reservation and it did sound like we were speaking to someone that again did not work in the restaurant. He sounded like he was in a bathroom washing his hands and didn't seem to care that we were running late. He just randomly asked if we had food allergies and said that we can make it whenever we get there. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly server... she was new and I hate I can't remember her name. She was amazing and made us feel welcomed even though we were 15 mins late. Seems like the reservation policy is written very sternly but again when we arrived our lateness didn't seem to be an issue at all. All that anxiety for nothing. Now to the experience. Music amazing, the chef was amazing and accommodating. He shared he had been a sushi chef for over a decade. We ended up ordering great cocktails and even more sushi off the menu in addition to our package. We will definitely be back. Pay attention to the check though! I grossly over tipped because I was a bit confused at the check. That's my fault and also didn't mind because it was a great experience. We will be back but likely trying another location.

Yelp
Came here with the BOGO omakase deal. They have you wait for the party before you to be done and sit everyone with your reservation time down at the same time. In the meantime, they have you sit at the bar. The BOGO deal is no deal if you get a drink. This is where they make their money. The drinks are $25+ each, and one of us asked for water and automatically the bartender opened a Voss bottle... when we received the check the water was $15!!!!!! The omakase experience was good, Juan was engaging and knowledgeable. My favorite bites were the seared salmon, toro, and miso cod. The pieces seemed smaller than average omakase I've been to. During the omakase, servers come by to push more drinks onto you. Overall, it would've been better if the bar wasn't so sneaky.

Yelp
Hell yeah, new omakase place! Their 12 course is very fairly priced compared to other options in the area and has some true gems like otoro with caviar. Highly recommend and I will probably become a regular here myself.

Yelp
This is a cool 90s hip hop themed hidden bar inside hotel Arlo. I love omakase experiences and this one was great! The sushi's were delicious and service was good. Only thing I have a complaint about is the size of the sushi. They were too small! I have a small stomach so I got out of there kinda hungry.

Yelp
Sushi by bou... it's an omakase experience meets speakeasy vibe. You arrive to be seated in a waiting area for drinks before beginning. Then you're invited to a more intimate table with your group that will be served together. The concept is great, however it's missing the authenticity and finesse. Really loud music, pre-cut sushi, and bites that were good just missing the omph. It's more of a louder party-vibe than an intimate, sushi omakase experience. Our server was nice, however we notified him of allergies and he accidentally prepared and served a shellfish bite to us that luckily we recognized and had removed. Overall, it was the details that were missing.

Yelp
What an amazing experience. Had a omakase seating with my girlfriend and the ambience was so fun. Played old school hip hop- the food and show was great. Service was amazing as well, came around all the time. Will be back!

Yelp
fish was not fresh or good quality. restaurant is oddly placed in the middle of a hotel with cheap decor. I wouldn't go back again. wait staff was nice though.

Yelp
Finding this place on the top floor of a hotel was beautiful. The place is a tad on the smaller side, but perfect for an intimate date night. It's a 90s hip hop themed and the music didn't disappoint the mood, throw back music was thoroughly enjoyed. The service was impeccable with them constantly checking in on additional drinks and giving additional napkins to clean. The one on one experience with the chef hand rolling everything in front of you was great. Every single piece was delicious, some more than others. My favorites were the chopped tuna, salmon roe and surf n turf.
google avatar

Lynn L.

Yelp
Amazing! After dining for the 12 course omakase, we added the additional 5 course to make it the full 18 course omakase. The sushi pieces were served just right- temperature of fish was good, amount of rice to fish ratio was perfect, rice was well seasoned and nice chewiness. No complaints other than I would prefer a brighter dining experience so I can see my food but it's no biggie, it was well worth it.
google avatar

Maria Y.

Yelp
The restaurant had low lights with west coast street style art. It was small, which made the experience very personal. The sushi chef Juan was spectacular. He was very personable and a great host. My boyfriend and I ended up being the only 2 at our omakase reservation time so it felt like a private dinning experience for us. The host and bartender were also very attentive. The omakase was amazing. I like that I had the opportunity to try fish and combinations that I wouldn't think to try on my own. Everything was delicious!! We did the 12 course meal with the sake and ordered 2 additional rolls and an additional mixed drink. They offered free mochi for my boyfriend's birthday which was so nice! Overall I would highly recommend this experience.

Yelp
Sick stomach after dining here. Fish was not fresh - very fishy and bad taste. Both my husband and I threw up and had sick stomach afterwards. Rice was mushy - we told the chef and he confirmed but cannot do anything about it. Service was also horrible- not attentive, music stopped, no one came refill our water until we had to ask multiple times. We purchased the Bogo vouchers and planned to take our parents here. After the experience we requested a refund and the restaurant refused to process and claimed they reached out to other guests and no similar concern. Super unprofessional and disappointed. Don't recommend and won't go back.

Anthony M.

Yelp
Another one for the books! - SushibyBou does it again! I love how you can have high quality omakase and still vibe out and have a good time! The staff really has a way of making you feel right at home. Definitely one of the most approachable and fun omakase experiences I have ever had! Order the BigMac! - You won't regret it!
