🔥 READ BEFORE ORDERING: THEY DO NOT CHECK THEIR ONLINE ORDERS SO WHEN YOU COME IN THEY START TO MAKE IT. 🔥 The older gentleman speaks english btw so don’t think you won’t be able to order. 🔥 Probably the only annoying part is they leave the shell on the shrimp and you can taste it so I just order with no shrimp which sucks bc I like shrimp. I guess that’s my take! They have 7 lunch specials that I’ve tried and I do recommend (Monday-Friday 11am-2:30pm) I had the best food ever. (Sushi only) I ordered a few things but the firecracker (torched) and cherry blossom (4nd time I ordered both lol) look at these pieces of sushi!!

The food is delectable- the atmosphere is relaxed, calm and incredibly comforting. The staff and chef are incredibly kind and caring people. Definitely visit if you love sushi!!!!

Google
Great cafe, very polite waiter, the food was delicious, the sushi and rolls are lovely, but the portions are too small, I didn't have enough. You need to take more food to eat. Beautiful classical music sounds in the room, good atmosphere. The beer is delicious too. ..

It was a great experience customer service was great what order better for myself next visit.

We don't recommend coming here if you're hungry. First of all, it takes a very long time to get your order. There's only one waiter/busboy who serves the entire restaurant, and he also has to help out in the kitchen. There's only one sushi chef behind the counter. My son's order was served first and it took half an hour for the rest of our dinners to arrive. As a result, we watched him eat, then he watched us eat. Not the best scenario for a family dinner out. Next, the portion sizes are really small. We were two adults and two kids who ordered three entrees, a special roll and a regular roll. $80+ later, none of us were full. Compared to other restaurants of similar quality and pricing, the portion sizes here were, without exaggeration, little more than half of what you get at other establishments. Quality of the food was average--rice entrees were not bad but sushi rolls were mediocre. Service was fine except that the lone server was clearly too busy and it was difficult to get his attention. Last but not least, be aware that they charge $2.50 per person for hot tea. Since hot tea is complimentary at almost every other Japanese restaurant, they should inform you about this when you order it. We're not likely to come again.

Sushi was super fresh. I appreciated the complimentary miso soup. Highly recommend this restaurant! The server and sushi chef were also very kind.

Google
While perhaps easily overlooked, Sushi Gallery served up the best sushi I’ve had in a while. I chose the Smokey n’ Crispy specialty roll alongside a classic Philadelphia roll and both were carefully prepared and delicious. Their miso soup was great as well, and they didn’t even charge me for it despite it being a paid menu item—a great gesture to go along with a very tasty meal!

Google
Amazing experience every time! The special sushi rolls are the best things on the menu hands down and the plating is amazing. Atmosphere is good but the food makes up for any faults. Plating is phenomenal as well. (Ask for your sushi in a boat)

Yelp
The food and customer service were both excellent! The interior design and music created a very relaxing environment. We tried the lion king roll and sea world roll, both were very tasty.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Ordered from here based off good reviews and was really disappointed. The rice was somewhat mushy, the spicy mayo tasted like boom boom sauce and the rolls were fishier than I am used to. I would not return here as I think there are way better sushi spots around us.

Dharamjit R.

Yelp
Heard about this place recently and decided to try it out. It's a quiet space with plenty of seating. Good for groups. Or you can sit up front and watch the sushi being made. Staff is very nice and hospitable. I got the rainbow roll and the Lion King Roll. For the Lion King he uses the blowtorch to sear the salmon on top. Delicious! I'll have to come back to try their other items.

Hasan I.

Yelp
I just can't stay away from this facility. I keep coming back for the food but truthfully, the chef and service is always so kind and helpful, they went from being just a restaurant to being friends. Food is always a 10/10, every time I come in it's another day of happiness for my taste buds.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Great bang for your buck. Incredibly clean. My server was super sweet and my sushi and salad was delicious.

Kris M.

Yelp
First time here it was a cute little low key spot with good vibes and good food. Had a cute little date night with my husband felt comfortable and relaxed. Definitely will come back here again.

Chantel G.

Yelp
Let me start by saying this is why family owned businesses are the best. The owner is such an elite sushi chef that he got me to try fish for the first time in my life. I normally go for the chicken katsu and on special occasions their kind enough to make me fun versions of it The environment feels calm and personal with classically styled music is playing quietly in the back so you're able to have your conversations without being over stimulated. His daughters and son help the most at the restaurant so you'd think it would be harder with only family around but it really makes every trip out there feel like visiting an old friend. Such patience and dedication to explaining the rolls to make sure you're getting exactly what you're craving. Service was fast compared to most large chains, that's why I like family owner because you can tell their always doing the most to make sure you're happy with your experience. So delicious, I will def keep coming back

Janet L.

Yelp
Super cute inside. Good music playing. Service was epic!!! And the food. Wow just amazing delicious and super fresh. I'll definitely be back. Thank you for your service.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
The sushi at this restaurant is amazing. I didn't go in with any expectations of it being great, but I was pleasantly surprised. The rolls were fresh and the service was prompt. The owner even came over and had a chat with us. We will definitely return.

Arlene M.

Yelp
I've been here several times over the years and it is one of my favorites sushi spots. The sushi chef is wonderful. Every visit I ask for the freshest sashimi and let him pick it out for me. Every time I am impressed. I also love their kimchee and their hot tea. I always leave full and happy.

Ted A.

Yelp
Honestly nothing else to say it's a solid sushi place that deserves a 5. To put it in perspective I would give Little Tree and Wow a 5 and this place rivals them.

Erin K.

Yelp
We came here based on the high rating and were sorely disappointed. I have never had sushi that tasted this fishy before period and of course, I got sick after eating it. The emptiness of the restaurant should have been my first clue.

Laken S.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Sushi Gallery for awhile, as it's near a family member's home and has consistently positive reviews. Today we ordered carry-out and I was very impressed with the quality of food, prices and friendly service. We ordered the house salad, miso soup, chicken ramen, Michigan Roll and the Triple Spicy Tuna Roll. My favorite was the Triple Spicy Tuna! The jalapeños on top were so fresh and added a nice bite. The salmon and tuna in the Michigan Roll were both melt-in-your-mouth fresh and tasty. The ramen had great flavor, but we'll add veggies next time for a little more depth. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and can't wait to return! I highly recommend stopping by the next time you want a great local sushi experience for a great price.

Cole W.

Yelp
Very quaint little place to get sushi. I love going here by myself after the gym... and they are very accepting of me coming in with my post-workout pajamas lol!!! Their yellowtail and tuna is so fresh. Prices for their nigiri and very reasonable as well. They exude the energy of a family-owned businesses that genuinely loves to provide good sushi for their community. It's never too busy, but it definitely should be!!

Naomi M.

Yelp
We came here on our trip to Detroit looking for some sushi and was pleasantly surprised with the variety on the menu. I haven't had bibimbap in years and it literally almost brought tears to my eyes as I ate it in the stone bowl. Awesome service and when we come back to the area we will definitely be back!

Benjamin B.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. The sashimi was particularly well done. This place is a gem. Will absolutely come back.

Alaina C.

Yelp
UPDATE: I've been back 3 times since my first review and this place has quickly moved up in rank. It is hands-down the highest quality for the best price. And as you know, I've done my research. I also love the selection of special rolls here. Thankfully the location is convenient for me, otherwise I would've never discovered it. If you're having trouble finding the place, look for Powerhouse Gym!! Sushi lovers, don't let this gem of a place pass you by.

Megan B.

Yelp
The spicy salmon roll truly tasted like nothing I have ever had before - and I wish I meant that in a good way. Both rolls were extremely fishy tasting and they simply drizzle Siracha over the rolls to make them spicy which I could do myself. And to top it all off, I found a hair in my roll. It was a long black hair and I have short blonde hair so odds are pretty slim that it was mine :( Will not be going back.

James B.

Yelp
Amazing family owned business. Owned since 2012. Great great owner. J Lee and his son Andy were there when I walked in. This place needs to flourish beyond imagination. The food was top notch. Quick, easy and simple to order online. It was obvious to me in the 15 minutes I was their online business is doing fantastic with all the walk-ins. I travel for a living all 50 states and I know I don't write as much as I should, but I felt compelled for this family run sushi restaurant. I know you won't be disappointed the owner's philosophy and way of doing business is a five star experience!

Brittany L.

Yelp
For starters.... I have not a SINGLE clue where all these stars are coming from! I've been here before, and once upon a time they were decent then, but now, just run. Honestly, absolutely everything we ate, except for the miso soup, was just bleh. For our meal, we got the Miso Soup and then we ordered one Cherry Blossom Roll and one bowl of Tempura Udon with waters. Now, I have toddler and she's pretty damned good in restaurants, but this guy eye-balled us from the moment we walked in. There was NO ONE ELSE in the restaurant. Not one single person and when we asked to sit where the bench was, he motioned for us to sit somewhere else. I declined. What was he expecting? 12 people to walk in and sit at the -only- table with a bench against the wall? I digress, the Cherry Blossom roll tasted like the vinegar used to make the sushi rice. Like, straight up licked the bottle or something and our Udon had tempura batter over the onion with the PEEL still on. Not just a piece of skin, but an entire peel, all the way around the ring. I peeled it off and set it in the miso soup bowl. And then I proceeded to so with the Rest of the onion because it was raw. I love onion. I do, but not raw in my soup... This place used to be good. Their sushi was good. Their food was good and now, they're just disappointing.

Nicole E.

Yelp
2 House salads, firecracker, caterpillar, 2 Cali special with added green onion and cream cheese and a veggie japchae. The house salads were good, the dressing was yummy. The japchae was tasty and had a ton of flavor, much more than I am used to for japchae. It went well with the spicy kimchi banchan dish. The Cali special rolls were so delicious, perfectly rolled. The caterpillar was really good and had nice flavor with the seaweed seasoning on top as was the firecracker. The sushi chef/owner made us a salmon and radish roll as a gift but we sadly couldn't eat it since we don't eat raw meat, but it was really very thoughtful of the chef. The waitress is attentive and nice, but quiet. This is a great family owned restaurant and I love seeing Korean food items on the menu. Who doesn't love a Korean and Japanese fusion of food?

Dunkin W.

Yelp
Not a bad little find around the corner from my hotel...decent sushi, fresh tasting and delicious. That said, I felt the menu was a little limited...not quite the larger offering on various rolls...don't get me wrong, they have a nice, creative selection but again, there were a lot of rolls that seemed to be very similar to others...just my opinion. All in all, a nice local place to go if you're close by.

Reyna M.

Yelp
the food was so good! the ambiance and energy is so calm and we loved every second of it. will be coming back for sure

Crazy D.

Yelp
Sushi was just ok. Soap in bathroom was literally all water. I don't know how they got so many stars. They aren't horribly bad just not great.y tea came with a tea bag in a traditional tea infuser. My husband was on a business call and the owner was playing YouTube videos so loudly he couldn't hear his call.

Kaila D.

Yelp
My partner and I came here for the first time Saturday afternoon. We knew it was gonna be good as soon as we walked into the dining room. We sat ourselves as the sign instructed. It's an intimate space. We sat for a little while before someone came to help us but the chef was the only one working so we weren't too pressed about it. I ordered a California roll and spicy salmon roll and my partner ordered the chicken teriyaki. The presentation was lovely and we were both satisfied with our meal. You can tell the chef puts a lot of care into his food. A very beautiful man came in at the tail end of our meal to check on us and give us the bill. We'll be back...for the food and the views.

Peyton C.

Yelp
Wanted to grab sushi before hitting the road back to Indy. We were exploring an area nearby the Sushi Gallery and decided to give it a try. There wasn't many people in the restaurant but they had a decent amount of to go orders. The waitress was nice and the place was clean. The menu has a lot of options. Including vegan rolls like the veggie delite which I tried. No fancy vegan rolls like some other sushi restaurants I have reviewed in the past. But they have options so can't complain. We ordered the dynamite, shrimp tempura, pink tempura, and veggie delite. This was plenty for two people and all of the rolls were delicious. Some of them had too much sauce in my opinion but were still good. My favorite of these was probably the pink tempura and The veggie delite. The prices compared to the typical prices of sushi at a restaurant. I'm not sure if they have happy hour specials but if they do that would be awesome. Although I no longer am vegan, the 2 years that I was, yelp was a place I could look to for tips on where to go. I will continue to give those tips on restaurants and spots that appear to offer vegan food.

Amanda T.

Yelp
I feel like this place was average at best. They weren't busy when we walked in. We only ate sushi but I did notice they had stir fry and ramen. I got the Philadelphia roll. I'm such a glutton for cream cheese. It was good. I wish I knew how to correctly order the sushi I want. I'm still so new at this but omg could eat it everyday, every time I'm hungry. The philly roll I got was just so plain. Even with soy. It's probably my fault but I as i get better I'll branch out. Now, my rating is based on the 6/7 sushi places I've been. It was average, it had no real "flavor" which was disappointing because it was suppose to have smoked salmon. I'd for sure go back and ask for help ordering the one I want, I grocery shop close by and to pop in and get a roll or 2 to chow on my way home, why not?! Oh, they have platters too.. He was putting one together as we sat in front and it's like art work! Sooo cool.

The G.

Yelp
Really good sushi. They took their time making sure our roles tasted good. We really liked all the roles we got and had a great experience! We ordered: Triple Spicy Tuna Special Roll, Spicy Seaworld Special Roll, California Regular Roll, Gallery Special Roll, Dynamite Special Roll, Pretty Woman Special Roll

Beth B.

Yelp
Looking for a great sushi spot on this Friday night. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers we found this highly rated hidden gem in the back of a shopping plaza. We ordered the miso soup, it was deliciously salty and yummy. The carrot and ginger salad, good size for sharing and the dressing was perfect. For an appetizer we ordered the gyoza. I tried to ask if they were homemade but our server was having a hard time understanding words that were not in the menu. Either way I think they were and we really liked them. My husband even said they were the best he's ever had! Onto the main event, the sushi. We ordered the Pretty Woman and the Firecracker roll. They both had such unique flavor combinations that I couldn't even decide which I liked more. The Pretty Woman was pretty spicy but the buttery crab and avocado calmed the palette with creamy goodness. The warm and crispy texture of the Firecracker roll were so addicting and intriguing. I loved the flavors. It had a smokiness I couldn't place but again really liked it! This place is really nice for a low key dinner or lunch. It wouldn't say it offers a really nice atmosphere but it's clean, fairly modern and calming. The soothing music almost makes you feel like you're in a spa. I'll definitely come back here, great spot!

Thinh N.

Yelp
I'm so glad we found out about this place. They had fresh sushi and great customer service. We will definitely make this our go to sushi place from now on. The older gentleman sushi chef is so friendly to us every time we visit. I would give 6 Stars if it allows me. Highly recommend this place.

Ali B.

Yelp
Very normal sushi place. One guy probably the owner making the rolls and his son waiting the tables. Fish was fresh and good. Owner was super nice and gave me a sashimi plate for free and it was great. Great people and good food. I would come again for sure.

Anita A.

Yelp
Sushi sushi sushi mmmm mmmm mmmm small local business and the owner is a very nice and hardworking man! The sushi is very colorful and flavorful. Rice is perfectly cooked and sushi is fresh! He gives you a little treat at the end that you're not expecting! Yummmmmmm support ur local small business!

Paige K.

Yelp
Actually the sushi itself was delicious! The staff was great and even gave us a free sample of a special roll. I had the Lion King (on the left...delicious!) and Salmon on Fire (far right... also delicious!) my bf loved his spicy tuna too. My only complaint is that it was pricey... $14 per specialty roll, adds up quick.

Andrew C.

Yelp
After reading such great reviews, we decided to order a few rolls for date night. Had the white dragon, salmon on fire, dynamite roll, and the pretty woman. Unfortunately, everything except the pretty woman had a really strong fishy taste and smell. We were super disappointed after reading the great reviews. Maybe it was just a bad night, but unfortunately I can't recommend this place to anyone else.

Wammy W.

Yelp
Food is very mediocre but price is way too high for the quality of food. Too bad. Service also was not great.

David R.

Yelp
Nice unpretentious room. Great food and great service. The owner is a very hospitable gentleman. I highly recommend the French Kiss roll and the Crunch O. Melt in your mouth good

Jim I.

Yelp
Can I just have OMG OMG OMG on this review? It was definitely epic the high ratings are earned. All Sushi is not created equal there's good and then there's incredible and this was incredible. This establishment was clean and it had a peaceful aura about it. I honestly don't think it matters what roll you get... you' ll like it. As far as the price...it was worth every grain of rice. I even had a new experience here ...Japanese Mochi Ice Cream; green tea and mango flavored. Nice. Reputation = Deserved .

Karilyn H.

Yelp
i've been coming to sushi gallery since i moved here years ago. the BEST sushi in the area!! the staff has always been exceptional! one time we went and the wait was a little longer than usual (only maybe by 5 minutes) and they gave us complimentary mochi! super attentive and kind staff along with the best sushi in town!

Abben H.

Yelp
I came here with a friend and ordered the spicy salmon, alaskan, and salmon teriyaki roll. The rolls were smaller than I expected and the fish didn't taste particularly fresh. I thought the sauce on the spicy salmon was also a bit strange since it wasn't your typical spicy mayo. Otherwise the meal was pretty good.

Sandy R.

Yelp
I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I trusted the reviews. I tried calling with questions and got no answer so I placed the online order. After I paid the pickup time went from 25 minutes to 60-80 minutes (when they give you a 20 minute window what time are you supposed to show up?). I went there at 60 minutes and walked in (the place does NOT look good from the outside). The inside was nice and my order was ready to go. The food was excellent! I should have taken a couple photos but too late e we already devoured it.

Jim B.

Yelp
Fantastic. Had the bibimbap which was delicious and well presented. The Kim Chi was also very good. I like the location and the decor. I would highly recommend the Sushi Gallery.

Julia V.

Yelp
Very deceiving on the outside because this place was AMAZING. we had the miso soup, house salad, California roll, yum yum roll, la crunch, and dynamite allllllll was AMAZING. Not to mention he was so sweet and gave us a complimentary mochi. We are for sure coming back so much as possible.

Julia C.

Yelp
This sushi place has become the only restaurant we ever go to now. It is run by the kindest man! Support a local business with the best Japanese food around. It is absolutely the best place in metro Detroit for sushi. My favorites are the Tuna nigiri and miso soup. The fish tastes fresh and high quality! Plus, they have the most adorable decor. Highly highly recommend that you stop by.

William W.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much but great Sushi pleasant owners/operators. Have been many times and have never had a complaint.

Matilda Q.

Yelp
Hidden gem with amazing food. Small owned business & the owners are great. Overall great experience

Charlotte G.

Yelp
This place has been a family favorite of mine for years. It is a very peaceful environment, the sushi and everything has always been phenomenal, and they play great music here. I 100% recommend if you are looking for a new favorite sushi spot

Erin H.

Yelp
My favorite favorite Japanese spot Everything is always fresh and delicious I usually get a bento box of katsu or teriyaki and I love all the sides the chef puts with his bento. Cant recommend this place enough

Wonderstruck W.

Yelp
Terrible Customer Service, waited over 30 minutes for my order, wasn't allowed to use the restroom, had to walk to the grocery store next door. And the server was very rude! Will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone. Do Better!!!!

eduart p.

Yelp
The environment was very clean and cozy... staff made us feel comfortable. The food was *muahh* delicious!
