All around a great place. First time here and the service was good, prices great, food was all so fresh and location was clean. Quick turn around times and busy. Got to try the Chula Vista Roll too.

Google
Sushi House is a South San Diego sushi staple, and is my personal favorite sushi spot in the entire city. I love that it’s never a gamble to come here and really enjoy the food you eat for very decent prices. It’s actually become a family dine in and to go classic which is another thing I really like about this place; they don’t play about to go orders and the quality doesn’t change wether you are dining there or taking it back home. Now however, I’ll offer my recommendations: Appetizers - Gyoza are ok, I personally like the Miso Soup to start although it’s nothing special. Rolls - Crunchy Roll (Krab), Lion King Roll (Baked Salmon), Chula Vista Roll (California w Cream Cheese), Rainbow Roll, Telegraph Canyon Roll (Tuna, Jalapeño), Fire Roll (Spicy FR), TJ Roll (Citrusy Mariscos Flavor). Bowls - Chicken Teriyaki Bowl (4.95$🤯), Sushi Rice Bowl (Sushi House Original Dish) Bento Boxes - 2 Item is 9.95$, 3 Item is 13.95$ (Get the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken or the Fried Sweet and Sour Chicken & Get a roll, it can be a speciality one from the other side of the menu for a little extra charge). Kitchen - Chicken Fried Rice What we got this time, and I posted pictures of, was the Telegraph Canyon Roll, a Tuna topped California roll with mayo sauce and fresh jalapeños. After we got it, my dad offered me some to try out, and even though I’ve never really liked tuna based sushi rolls and declined, he insisted I tried it and it honestly was really good. The next is the Chula Vista Roll; it was good but it tastes exactly like a Cali roll which was underwhelming. I recommend instead the Lion King Roll, or a Crunchy Roll if you’ve never had it from here before. We also got ourselves a famous Sushi Rice Bowl which is a Sushi House classic that I’ve never found anywhere else. It’s just sushi rice with krab, cream cheese, avocado, mayo, and eel sauce which leaves you so satisfied and it’s one of the most delicious sushi dishes I’ve had, literally a family classic. We also can’t forget the Chicken Fried Rice which is another star of the family meal, as I can confidently say it’s one of my all time favorite fried rices I’ve ever tried in my life. The portion is also super generous, and you can easily split it with 4 people to accompany the rolls. I really can’t underestimate how much we as a family love this place, but I’m hoping that other people who’ve never had the chance to dine here get to experience a true gem here in Chula Vista. It’s had its ups and downs, but we’ve always stayed loyal customers and I like that they’ve never tried to take advantage of their customers financially, even when it would probably reap some quick results. This place is 100% a community spot, one that has kept us here in Chula fed for decent prices with some really fire food, and for that they will always have my buisness and respect. I’ve had only 1 single bad interaction in my entire time coming to eat at this restaurant (10+ years), and I can’t hold it against them because they’ve proven me time and time again that they’re not slackers on quality or service. Much love to the owners and employees and overall, DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED✅✅📋

Google
Solid place for more reasonably priced sushi. Great value. Don't come here expecting the best you've ever had. Temper you expectations given that it's 40-50% cheaper than most other spots. In that category it's an easy 5 stars. I'll definitely be coming back. The menus are as of 7/6/25.

Google
I've been going to sushi's house since 2006. Always has fair prices and great food

Google
I came to sushi house by being in the area and looking for a place to eat. Sushi house is located in a strip mall with plenty of large parking lot. I tried to pan fried chicken noodles that was phenomenal. The food was outstanding nice variety, food options. You have a sushi bar with nice size indoor seating area. The only negative I did not like this when they ask me to pay cash not credit card.

Google
Sushi house is the toyota/honda of sushi places in south SD. You cant go wrong here. Its not trying to reinvent the wheel, its not trying insane new ideas. Its providing the same service, consistently, which is why I keep coming back. Please never change sushi house.

Google
The most "mid/meh" sushi place on the planet. It like someone Googled "how to make sushi", then rented a spot in a strip mall. Everything was 5 out of 10. The food was brandish. The service was polite, but but not anything like good. The atmosphere is like a school cafeteria. I would skip and go to Sushi Deli on Washington.

Yelp
In the mood for sushi one night, we came across Sushi House. It's a casual sushi restaurant with a variety of Japanese food options including sushi rolls, bento boxes, noodles, and appetizers. We ordered to go 30 minutes before close but our order was ready within 15 minutes and fresh, hot, and tasty. The prices are really reasonable ($9.95 for the bento box and a combo of 4 rolls for $24.99) for the portion and quality of food. The food was good and filling. We would definitely return again for more!

Yelp
service was nice and very fast, the food was yummy but didn't feel as fresh as other sushi places can be. I honestly didn't mind bc everything was really good and the prices were very affordable. Great place to stop by if you're looking for affordable sushi.

Yelp
Love it. Food is delicious And customer service is amazing all the time . I have been coming here for years and my kids love it as well
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi House has the best prices at $9.95 for most rolls. I picked up several rolls to go this visit. They aren't the prettiest or most original rolls, but they do satisfy that sushi craving. I think I'll have to take the family in so we can try their bentos and other menu items. *Technically, I would give them 3 1/2 stars
google avatar

Simore M.

Yelp
First of all where can you get a teriyaki chicken bowl, thats delicious for less than $5 in this economy? That was just the beginning. The sushi rolls were delicious, jalapeño poppers were awesome. Service was nice .

Yelp
My go to spot for decent priced good sushi! This spot is always busy. The staff are so nice and welcoming I love coming here even for just a to go order. Small spot always clean. Expect to wait a bit for a table during their busy times. I always get the Combo C best in the game 5 rolls for a great price. Everything tastes fresh and yummy. Been a while since I been here but since moving back down the area it's back in my regular rotation. Good to be back!

Yelp
Ordered to go over the phone. Good prices, delicious sushi. Only thing is they do take a long time despite ordering ahead but still good

Mee M.

Yelp
Menu has a variety of sushi, sashimi, meat meals. From single entree, combos, bowls to bento boxes. Service is quick. Order for drinks and appetizers, then your main order. Place is medium sized with plenty of tables and seating. Place can get packed real fast, depending on the time of the day. But you can order ahead for takeout/pickup.

Yelp
Went to sushi house around 8:30pm tonight Ordered three rolls They said 15-20mins Did a To-go order The rolls were perfect Loved all of them My favorite is the jalapeño roll My sister approved this place!

Itzela C.

Yelp
Service is just bad, sushi Is good, however this during my visit the chicken was completely pink under cooked. I checked it after tasting it since it taste it raw and to see it was really pink when I ask to pls be cooked more they got upset and set that's how chicken is :/ that they sell 500 of those a day !!! I really want the chicken but she refused to cook it more. After that the service was worse. I just not going anymore and hope I don't get sick !!! Look at the pictures the people in charge dare to say it was fine

Yelp
The restaurant never disappoints! I ordered a rainbow roll and house special roll to go and it was delicious. They take phone orders and usually don't take too long to prepare the order if it's not too busy. The seating is pretty tight if it's busy, but the pricing of the food definitely makes it worth it. Would recommend to do to-go!
google avatar

Regina P.

Yelp
This place isn't very big and flashy but the sushi is THE BEST! The line is always out the door, so be ready for a little wait but it's totally worth it! I have never had a bad roll here so try anything! My favorite is the telegraph roll I also highly recommend the egg rolls... they are to die for and one order is pretty big! If you live near or are in the area, it's the best sushi I've found by far. The prices are great and the staff are always kind.

Frances R.

Yelp
I like to eat here. Good price and good quality. Service is always good. I don't usually do in person dinning. Always pick up to go. Order may take up to 25 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.

Yelp
This place is close to home so it's convenient and when you're craving sushi but don't want to go far, it gets the job done. The sushi is not great but it's not terrible with either. The restaurant is small and they're not very attentive to dine in customers so I would recommend placing the order in advance and taking it home. The staff is friendly but it appears the majority of their orders are to-go so they're mostly busy trying to get those processed and out
google avatar

Eid F.

Yelp
This place is always busy and normally a line outside. They squeeze in a bunch of seats. Service is friendly. It's good for small to medium groups. The sushi itself is just ok, the biggest draw for this place has to be the prices. For SD this is one of the cheapest places I've been to. They have been in business forever and keep their prices the same. Almost every roll is $10 or less.

Luna C.

Yelp
They use the cucumber instead of the avocado to make California roll. Cheating! California roll must be have the avocado inside. That is the origin of its name.

Yelp
i love the place this is my new favorite sushi place, my bf and i go every sunday, it's a small place so it feels a lil more private & the food is delicious and they serve pretty fast, plus they are very friendly! I recommend! Food 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Service & Place 10/10

Yelp
Alright, I've been passing through this strip mall now for ages. I kept wondering why there's a huge line and it's always busy. So I decided I'm going to check it out. I ordered several nigiris, their famous Seared salmon roll which I think they call the lion king roll. Of course I had to try their Dragon Roll to see how it stacked against all others I've tried. 1) Price - 5 Stars, you can't beat less than $12 for a roll and less than $5 for Nigiri 2) Volume - 5 Stars, you get the full 8 cut thick roll 3) Flavor - 2 Stars, sorry just didn't have that wow factor, need creativity with their sauce pairing. Very vanilla! 4) Service - 3 Stars, could be faster less waiting Overall, I give it a 3. But if you want price and volume, knock yourself out. Now I understand the huge line!

It's a small and bustling spot, so large groups beware but I still love it and we've catered large orders for family functions. Much love to the owners and employees and overall, DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED

Yelp
You guys ever heard of "you get what you paid for?" This statement resembles my experience today. While the prices may be great, the food is very lackluster. I've been to this location a handful of times and what I always recall is the lack of freshness and the poor customer service as well. Although some of the employees can come off as rude I don't think it's intentional. Still, as a customer I should not feel like an inconvenience. I will sadly not be going back to Sushi House.

Yelp
I stopped by here while my car was charging at the supercharger; I saw a huge line and packed restaurant on a Sunday night so figured it was good. The host was nice and our food came out quick... but that's where the good ends. I don't like to write bad reviews but this was some of the worst sushi I ever had. I got thru Combo #3 - 5 Maki rolls. They were basically all rice, and the sushi was cut way too thick and you could tell it wasn't great quality. They were also extremely dry, I don't like sushi being nothing but sauce but the issue here was none at all. Also, one of my rolls was not what I ordered. There's no way I eat here again unfortunately.

Yelp
I haven't been here in yearssssssss. I'm talking about over 6-7yrs ago. I came here since I was in the area & wanted a quick bite. Plenty of parking in private lot shared with multiple businesses. Usually always hard to find parking, let alone close parking. I came here thinking it was the same place I've previously visited. Boy was I in for a surprise. The place has been completely gutted & remodeled. They've kept the same name but under completely new ownership. They have plenty of menu options to choose from. Their portions were huge. I love that they had free sides! Who doesn't love sides! Their water comes from a filter & they leave you a bottle to serve yourself. The ambiance is nice & first date approved! Little stalls with booths. The server was friendly & quick. The bulgogi in my bento box was ok. Would deff try their next menu items the next time I'm around.

Yelp
Always will be my go-to spot! I think recently they've changed to styrofoam plates for food.. I don't remember it being like that last time I came here a year ago. For someone who is a little eco friendly this was a bit off putting at first, but if I am simply rating for the food and price, I stay at my 4 stars. The prices have not really raised since I last went which is crazy! I really appreciate how consistent they stay for their prices, it's amazing really. You get what you pay for! Don't expect gourmet but a great meal on a budget.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
The pricing reflects the taste. Pretty mid tier but it feeds the craving just enough. My husband and I have been coming here for the past 3 years. Unfortunately this last time the service was pretty bad. 5:50 - Placed an order. Wait time: 30 mins 6:30 - Arrived at restaurant. They said no order was made. But they asked what we had ordered and I think they said they were going to make it for us? So we waited. 7:00 - Still nothing so we left. Thought I misunderstood. 8:00 - Get a call from restaurant. Didn't answer, but I guess our order was ready?

Yelp
The sushi house definitely needs an update for my yelp review. Going on now 14 years visiting this location it has still been the chosen spot in Chula Vista South Bay. I can not thank them enough for their great service and quality of sushi. The staff there is very friendly and are always busy. I called over the phone and placed 4 sushi rolls. The fire roll is one of my favorite including the lion king roll. If you are a sushi lover you have to try this spot. It's a very relaxing place to enjoy some sushi with a nice group of family. They had my order ready for pick up and always have good conversations with the owner. He always remembers me and makes me feel like family. Definitely a 10/10 for their sushi don't miss out.

Camilo O.

Yelp
The crunchy roll, house roll, beef yakisoba, and shrimp fried rice is excellent. The service is fast, quick and very nice. The place is a little tight but the ambiance is good.
google avatar

Dena T.

Yelp
First off the customer service is a 10/10!! The ladies here are super sweet and very family oriented! I happened to pass by and saw the rolls were $5-10!! I got the vegetable yakisoba and the fire roll. The yakisoba was nicely flavored every inch was covered with sauce but didn't feel too greasy! The fire roll came with two deep fried jalapeños delicious! Honestly can't beat these prices.
google avatar

Diane M.

Yelp
This use to be my spot use to come every Sunday Chicken teriyaki tasted old and bad and not like it use too Shrimp tempura was not the same Cups were dirty had spots on them Miso soup was ok Not sure if it's because the cooks are not the same Their prices are fair but the food isn't yummy no more

Signe D.

Yelp
This place is a local classic. Not too expensive, & not bad. Yummy sushi. Not crazy luxurious, but that's what I like about it. I come here a lot--they have many loyal customers & have been serving me & my friends' families for decades. It's small and efficient
google avatar

Dona S.

Yelp
The food was actually really good in my opinion, I had the Philadelphia roll and the Lion King roll. They're currently serving food on styrofoam plates, I personally don't mind but just nice to know I guess. After reading the reviews for this place I can confirm that they're pretty accurate, especially when it comes to service. I'm pretty sure there were only three people working today and although i can tell they were working hard, it just wasn't enough for the volume of customers. One thing i really hate is when restaurants have you waiting forever just to pick up the check and in this case there was only one person taking orders and one person at the cash register handling both take-out and dine-in. The space itself is pretty small as well, the tables are placed very close together and only half the bar was open today. I'd suggest takeout if you want to avoid all that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
google avatar

'ward K.

Yelp
As mentioned in a previous review, am no connoisseur of sushi, but I know what I like, and this place being nearby has become my go-to when craving some maki. Located in a large strip mall, so there's plenty of parking. Bar and table seating is limited, but I always get it to go, so n/a. As the saying goes, 'you pays yer money and you takes yer chances,' and this place hasn't disappointed. Doing the whole 'variety is the spice of life' thing, will generally try at least one different roll per visit, often with some miso soup - good eats. Maybe it's because I eat sushi sparingly, but am always left thinking, "I could eat this every week!" So yeah, have had only good experiences, thus far. Would be 'great', but if you don't call in your take out order ahead of time, expect a bit of a wait as they are generally busy, and like with most eateries these days, prices are up, but you get what you pay for, right? 楽しむ

Mario C.

Yelp
Quick service, good food and nice ambience. Prices are pretty fair but unfortunately they don't offer military discounts.

Raul M.

Yelp
Affordable and super good. I always get chicken yakisoba and fire roll Today we got the island roll and the lion king. Hit the spot! Also good portion size. No picture provided because I was very hungry
google avatar

J J.

Yelp
Ordered by phone to pick up my food and arrived 40 mins after I have placed my order thinking it will be ready but still waited another 30 mins. Over an hour for a food you ordered ahead. Must be nice to keep your customers waiting.

Johnny B.

Yelp
Great prices, great ambiance, amazing people and amazing food! Highly recommended for everyone who loves sushi and fast service.
google avatar

Yelp
A really food place to go if you want quality sushi that isn't overpriced !!! A lot of different options especially if you don't eat raw fish , fast service. And their milk tea are really good !!!

Jieming Y.

Yelp
Great place for Sushi. always come here when we are in this area. We love the sushi. We love the soup and also we love the collars.
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi bowl was great. Please properly clean out the jalapeño stem and seeds for the poppers. No napkins in my to go bag.
google avatar

Christian H.

Yelp
The food is great, and the service is excellent. Their prices are very affordable and there are lots of options.
google avatar

Renee G.

Yelp
This place has some really good sushi. There's a few tables inside and a bar. We order to-go from this place a lot. The prices are great and I love the telegraph canyon roll.
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
EAT HERE!! I love sushi and have had some pretty amazing sushi at some pretty nice restaurants and this is impressive quality at even more impressive prices. I've never had bad items from here, and some of my favorites to order are the dragon roll, tempura roll, tiger roll, and the lion king roll. Great sushi at prices you will never find anywhere else. You can get 3 rolls here basically for the price of only one at some high end places downtown. It's not Nobu, but they're not trying to be and it's still great sushi. I've never eaten at the restaurant, I've only had it to-go. If you want expensive sushi and a fancy environment then go to Nobu, otherwise don't miss this place!
google avatar

Pamela Rose P.

Yelp
Decent for the price! will go back when we want a fastfood sushi! Go try it! There's nothing bad to say about them!

Celeste E.

Yelp
Some of the best sushi I've had since coming to California. Awesome portions, low prices, really great authentic green tea. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Stephen W.

Yelp
I food looks great. The food did taste great. I had no issues with the food so if you want free food, get your food to go because the service you won't have any service. Your server will chitchat in there language. If you want any more wasabi, or any more drinks, or any more refill on your water, don't worry your server will not do it and if you have a problem with your food, don't worry your server will not ask you how your food is your server will only drop off your check and say thank you your server will not ask you if you need anything else or try to upsell you so if you want any good food, you should really get it to go. This is the first time I never left a tip here's my tip to you check back with your tables. You see an empty glass of water after five minutes you should maybe refill that water pay more attention to your guest. I will definitely not be back at this place. Just so you guys know you all been warned after you had some bad service I would appreciate it if you like my comment, so I know how you feel

Yelp
As of 7/10/21: NO dine-in; takeout only! I ordered the Krispy roll and wanted to order a side of edamame, but around 1pm, they apparently were sold out... So, I opted for the baked mussels. The Krispy roll has tuna, hamachi (yellowtail), and salmon deep fried. It sounds good, but sadly doesn't taste or look as good as it sounds. Considering there's three types of fish in this roll, after awhile the texture and flavor are monotonous and it becomes hard to eat. I wish it had a stronger sauce to tie it all together. The baked mussels were good tho! 4 baked mussels for $4.95!
google avatar

Clover E.

Yelp
Very inexpensive food that was really good. It was my 1st time so we ordered a lot to try. 3 apps, yakisoba noodles, chicken fried rice & 4 rolls were $88. Service was fast. But although we put in apps first, the rolls came out way b4. The place is very small dining in was a challenge. Most take food to-go which I'll be doing next time.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
The worst food Styrafoam dining? Why!!! Covid is over! So tasteless and disgusting. Okay for those who have no palette for real japanese. Paying sub par prices for way sub par food Cold edamame Tasteless surimi Dyed tuna Worst food east of L street Make it at home on real plates with real ingredients. This restaurant is just hanging on doing the bare minimum white rice, frozen broccoli, bad sushi and shitty chicken thighs not a meal. Does this make? I can't imagine what they're salmon is like it's probably really really soft and shitty too. Moreover, I am just tired of businesses like this sliding down the scale and expecting to be paid post Covid as if they were still in Cove it don't ask me for a tip. I left nothing the worst place in the world. I'm sorry don't go here.
google avatar

Valerie K.

Yelp
Am eating here now and order water, just plain tap water and they wouldn't give it to me. Offered bottled water or soda. Wouldn't answer me when I asked if they had running water. NEVER have been to a restaurant that didn't give water upon request. No Good ! Plastic silverware and styrofoam plates were used for dining in , real classy. I will have to say though, their food is still good and hasn't changed. Just bring your own ice cuz they don't give you a glass with your soda or water bottle. I think they did away with their dishwasher. Hopefully it's just broken.

Yelp
The Sushi House is a happening spot! It's busy, but you can easily order to go. The sushi is absolutely delicious and a great value.
