I had an incredible dining experience at Sushi I and I can confidently say it’s one of the best sushi spots I’ve ever visited in Pittsburgh. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and elegantly minimalist—perfect for a relaxed meal or a special occasion. The sushi was nothing short of exceptional. Every piece was beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and expertly crafted. The tuna sashimi melted in my mouth, and the chef’s special rolls struck the perfect balance of flavor, texture, and creativity. I especially recommend the SUSHI I ROLL, an unforgettable blend of ingredients that worked in perfect harmony. The service was equally impressive. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. You can tell the staff truly cares about the customer experience and takes pride in what they do. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just exploring Japanese cuisine, SUSHI I is an absolute must-visit in downtown Pittsburgh. I’ll definitely be coming back—and bringing friends with me next time!

The sushi was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. While the prices are on the higher side, it’s understandable given how everything seems to be getting more expensive lately. One area for improvement would be the wait time for getting seated. That said, they may still be working on finding the right balance between minimizing the wait for a table and ensuring timely service once you’re seated. Overall, a great dining experience that’s worth trying.

This is an absolute gem in Pittsburgh! Was so surprised at the amazing quality of the food especially the fish in the sushi. The steak hibachi was super tender and the veggies are fresh. The service is top tier too! Everyone was so friendly, quick to help, and a pleasure to talk to. I will definitely be back!

As a girl who works at a sushi restaurant and can often criticize heavily based on my own bias, this place blew me out of the water! Not only is the restaurant itself beautiful, but the food and presentation were just as stunning. The sushi was super fresh and cut to perfection. I definitely recommend the Crispy Tuna Rice appetizer! Even the cocktails were 10/10. We tried the Mai Tai and Blue Hawaiian. If you aren’t a sushi lover, like my friend, she got the Seafood Hibachi that was to die for. All in all, this place is perfect for an afternoon girls lunch or a romantic date night getaway!

Escape the ordinary and dive into an unforgettable dining experience at Sushi I in downtown Pittsburgh! From the moment you step onto their rooftop oasis, you’re transported to a tropical paradise — the perfect setting for a night of exceptional food and atmosphere. Sushi I seamlessly blends traditional Japanese flavors with contemporary Asian influences, creating dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Every item I tried — from the perfectly seasoned edamame and crispy crab Rangoon to the sweet potato roll, tuna roll, and their OMG roll — was outstanding. The chicken hibachi was flavorful and tender, and you could tell everything was made with care and premium ingredients. What truly sets this place apart is the attention to detail: house-made sauces, fresh seafood, and expertly cooked rice show just how committed they are to culinary excellence. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or just looking for a memorable meal in a unique setting, Sushi I is absolutely worth the visit.

Sushi on a rooftop!! Does it get any better?? Yes if you add shrimp shumai and crispy rice with tuna. OMG Roll, black truffle... all delicious!!! Service was great as well! We went for lunch but Id love to come back at night when the lights are on.

Rooftop sushi bar?? Say less. Had such an amazing dinner with friends at Sushi I! Reservations are highly recommended but very easy to make. Our server, Tina, was the best server I've ever had. She went above and beyond in recommendations, checking in on us, and was SO knowledgeable on the entire menu. Ask for Tina next time you're there!! The food itself was delicious. Growing up, I had an uncle who owned a sushi restaurant, so my expectations were a bit high. The bluefin torch roll and black pearl rolls might be the best rolls I've ever had in my life. The quality of fish is amazing and the flavors in both rolls were incredible. I need 5 right now lol. Plus if you order 5+ rolls your sushi comes out on some sort of bridge or boat! How fun! Prices were super reasonable and their lunch specials seem great, looking forward to trying those in the future! Loved my lycheetini and thought it was really well crafted.

A must try for Pittsburgh dinning! Fabulous owner who is very welcoming. Food was sensational and very well presented. Some of if not the best sushi I’ve ever had. 3 floors of dinning to choose preferred seating. Outdoor terrace when weather permitting. Wide menu choice. I will definitely be back and tell others to visit. Thankyou for a great experience and congratulations on opening sushi I

Yelp
Delicious!!! We all loved the Crab Rangoon. A friend and I split a Sushi I roll, a Rainbow roll, a Spicy Yellowtail roll, and a Spider roll. The Rainbow roll was easily my favorite. Our server Charlotte took great care of us and I thought the prices were very reasonable. I had a nice Sauvignon Blanc but they also have a fun cocktail list. I would love to come back and sit on their rooftop!

Yelp
I was very excited to try this new spot, but overall was pretty disappointed. The food was okay, with the crab Rangoon being the best part. I was most disappointed in the service. Our server forgot to put in part of our order, everything came out at different times, they forgot to bring us plates and napkins, and it took a long time to get our orders. I was also disappointed in the cocktails which tasted like soda water mixed with whatever alcohol and maybe some cucumbers mixed in. Finally, and I do recognize the restaurant has nothing to do with this, but someone from the apartments above the rooftop where we were sitting dropped a lit cigarette which landed on my friend.

Yelp
Went here 2 times so far and each time I enjoy the sushi but it takes so long to get the food after you order it. Sushi is fresh though and the crispy rice tuna was delicious! Super cute inside, but I've never been able to sit up on the rooftop because it's always full.

Yelp
We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and got a table for three immediately. The inside is huge and there's three spacious floors. We were seated on the second floor. I believe there's an open rooftop on the third floor. The second floor felt upscale and classy without being pretentious. Our server was super nice and patient. We got different things. My friend got the maki combo and it came with miso soup and was a great deal. I got the Pittsburgh roll and my friend got the tiger roll and both were so good!! Everything tasted super fresh! We also got cocktails and I loved my lychee martini.

Yelp
I've been wondering for years who was going to take over the old Harris Grille space and finally we know! SUSHI i is pretty darn good! The cocktail program is great and the food is fresh and delicious. The prices are reasonable with quality and portion sizes too! The decor remodel looks awesome especially with the sun deck up top!!

Yelp
So the food was great and I liked my martini too! I would definitely order it for take in. That being said, this place was WEIRD. you walk in and there's this bar and a few tables but there was NOBODY on sight. It was a completely empty space with no signage about where to go or if you should seat yourself, nothing. Realizing how awkward this was, I looked around and found a staircase so I decided to follow that and finally found people dining and serving. Once again, no signage or a host so I had to awkwardly stand there until I eventually got a server to stop and she told me to just "sit wherever" before hustling away. It was a really really awkward environment, but the food was awesome. They need to just work on greeting customers properly and making sure there's some kind of information about where to go like jeez.

Yelp
I love sushi! So my surprise and excitement when a new place opened up downtown. I've been to this location for many years when it was multiple other restaurants and I'm hoping this one stays we were greeted very promptly by a very friendly hostess and sat right away. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. Our food did take a bit of a long time, but luckily I wasn't too hangry. My favorite was the Pittsburgh roll and the turtle roll.

Yelp
So glad we have a good option for sushi downtown now! They have a rooftop too which is cool but they were full when we went. The sushi is fresh here and they have really fun rolls as well as your staples which is nice. The tempura was great and I really liked the trio tobiko roll that had the main kinds of fish I like. The space is nice and renovated and the staff was nice.

Yelp
Such a good experience! The building is 3 floors and the hostess was so sweet she asked if we preferred to sit inside or outside, of course we chose outside which was on the very top floor! Such a nice view and the weather was lovely that night. I got the Lycheetini which was so good and not overly sweet! We tried the Pan-Fried Pork Gyoza, which for me I basically ate in one sitting! And of course we ordered the sushi! And I was not disappointed in any of the sushi dishes I ordered! It was overall a nice dinner!

Yelp
Amazing addition to the downtown dining scene - and open for lunch with plenty of table service options. Large parties and bar seating in the beautifully renovated lounge. Great job with the design and layout of the restaurant. Note: steps....I don't remember there being an elevator in the building. The selection of sushi was fresh and diverse to the palate. The business is new and there is quirks in the timing of food delivery. That should work itself out as time goes by. Wine and spirits and mixed crafted cocktail list.

Yelp
In town for business so it was my first time here. When I walked in it didn't look very big, but the main dining and seating area was located upstairs. It's a nice place not too big but the tables are spaced out well. The sushi was fresh and tasted good. Also had salmon and grilled vegetables. It was really delicious. If you're in the mood for sushi, this is a spot to check out. Our server was friendly and nice. The prices were reasonable and the food came out quickly.

Yelp
This place slapped, the food was stellar, can't wait to return. However, their desserts are premade outsourced unauthentic afterthoughts, please don't be one of those restaurants.

Yelp
Sushi-I is a promising new restaurant with some challenges ahead of them. From the top, they have done a fantastic job remodeling the space they are in. The third floor patio space is a rare outdoor spot with a great feel. The second floor bar and dining area is exceptionally well designed and feels fresh and bright. The hostess and staff were friendly and engaging. There were some faux pas which will doubtlessly get ironed out as the team gets comfortable. Some items were forgotten, tables were cleared very slowly (over 30 minutes) but the staff had a great attitude so this isn't expected to be a problem for long. The sushi menu could use some work. Sushi is, for all the focus on fish, about the rice. The rice on some of our rolls was simply done poorly, with rice that was smashed and almost a paste on a couple of rolls. This should never make it to a table. Otherwise, the menu is overly reliant on spicy tuna. Obtaining a continuous, appropriate suppliant of sushi quality fish is a challenge and spicy tuna helps fill the gap. But it isn't an ingredient that is highly sought after in a roll. There are other quibbles with the presentation of sashimi served with sauce but those are personal tastes. And finally, I hope they revisit their miso soup. A good miso soup shows attention to detail. This was "ok" but should be excellent to get everything off to a great start. Here's hoping that Sushi-I brings together all the elements in a challenging task! Gambate kudasai!

Yelp
I'm going to write an update to this review due to the owner's response to my comment. The owner's response that the AYCE was only a limited time thing goes against their own social media (see the picture, they have taken the post down but googling Sushi I Pittsburgh still shows the preview for it) as well as several news articles that were talking about their launch. This attempt at gaslighting has all but solidified that we will NOT be back. And, more than that, we have been and will continue to tell everyone we know to never eat here. https://triblive.com/lifestyles/food-drink/all-you-can-eat-sushi-i-restaurant-debuts-in-downtown-pittsburgh/ https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2025/05/05/sushi-restaurant-opens-downtown.html https://patch.com/pennsylvania/pittsburgh/new-all-you-can-eat-restaurant-debuts-pittsburgh

Yelp
Parents were in town to visit, so we checked out Sushi I downtown! They luckily had a table open on the patio, but I would call ahead to make a reservation on a busy weekend for a patio spot. They had so many roll options, I would recommended sticking to those since there are so many unique options. Great ambiance and music for a hot summer night.

Yelp
Recently stopped to try this new establishment before seeing a show downtown. We were surprised to go in around 5pm and we were the only ones inside the restaurant. Our server was super nice. He was a little nervous so we figured he was just new, but he did a good job. The food is delicious and priced very reasonably for the portion sizes. We are hoping it takes off because it is a great spot.

Yelp
Food was amazing, leechimartini so good! Service very fast and friendly. Tons of options, sushi fish melts in your mouth. Atmosphere very clean and quaint. Can't wait to try the roof top next time i come!

Yelp
We were visiting Pittsburgh from Rochester and found this place for dinner. Sushi was amazing! Owner was attentive and their rooftop patio would have been awesome if it was a few degrees warmer!

Yelp
the sushi, service, and decor is all fantastic. I would reccomend to anybody. I came for their lunch special and was delighted by my 3 rolls. so great!

Yelp
Very mid in my opinion. The rooftop is nice. Food was just okay like any other Japanese place nothing special. Reasonably priced. They were out of multiple items. Servers were good.

Hayley U.

Yelp
my experience was really nice. I came for lunch and got the 3 rolls for 16$! What a good deal, with high quality fish! I'd highly reccomend

Yelp
To begin, the ambiance of the restaurant is quite peaceful & serene. From the bar to the plating, it truly is a 5 star experience. Unfortunately, it did rain during our meal but we'll definitely revisit to try the drinks and the patio next time. Worth checking out! Tina was our server and did an awesome job, very personable. This spot is worth checking out!

Yelp
We loved sushi I!! We came for my friends birthday and the sushi was amazing! The workers were extremely nice and attentive. The sushi came very fast and was very very fresh. The restaurant was very clean and relaxing. Their cocktails were amazing too!! Will definitely be coming back

Yelp
Me and my colleague came for a late lunch early dinner. We must have come in as soon at they switched over to dinner. Maddie was our server and she did great! She was very helpful and attentive! Food came out QUICK! Everything was amazing. The tuna crispy rice app was my favorite. Philly roll and tuna were enjoyed as well! Can't wait to come back and sit on the rooftop patio

Maura L.

Yelp
Ordered from this sushi spot on DoorDash and was really impressed! The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the hibachi was cooked perfectly. I did wish I had some extra yum yum sauce on the side to add a little more flavor, but overall the meal hit the spot. I'm really looking forward to visiting in person. I heard they have a rooftop seating area, and I can't wait to enjoy more sushi there and try some new rolls. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Brand new sushi restaurant downtown with great people working there and excellent value food. They really care about the customers and spend time talking to them. They could use better signage/greeting downstairs and get the word out about upstairs. One door is locked so you have to go to other one.

Private I.

Yelp
Well they pulled a bait and switch, we were exited to go to an all you can eat sushi restaurant with all the advertising they did about all you can eat sushi restaurant. We thought it would be a nice bit of competition against sushi bomb. Well unfortunately this was a bait and switch when we sat down to eat we wanted the all you can eat deal as advertised and when we were told "the owner has changed their mind about all you can eat , probably because they were loosing money." That was the perfect ending to an already horrific parking nightmare that we call the downtown area. We don't like bait and switch tactics when trying to hook people for business. There are other all you can eat places that we will return to like katana in mt lebanon and ach ai in washington pa. Sushi bomb also but they had the health department disaster a while back so be smart everyone but i will say the restaurant looked nice but the problem is the bait and switch then you stare at a menu of overpriced sushi , yea no thanks and pretty ignorant to do that to people and in pittsburgh word travels fast and it's a small town with deep rooted politics so probably not your best move.
