Had an amazing experience at this omakase place in Mountain View. The servers and chefs are super welcoming when you walk in! If you here for a celebration or treating yourself to a nice meal, you need to get the omakase tasting menu! The fish was so fresh and melts in your mouth!!! I really like their chawanmushi (steam egg with seafood) , it was so light and flavorful. I recommend this spot for Omakase! :)

Google
Came here to celebrate my birthday and enjoyed the omakase menu($155 per person) with my partner. We added 2 sake flights ($55/$75) and 1 uni flight ($65). It is tucked in the corner of a shopping center which is a little different, but as soon as you walk through the door and are greeted by the host and chefs you totally forget where you are. The place is very small and intimate with a traditional feel. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the offerings and the fliw of dishes was at a good pace. The quality and variety of the fish was impeccable and the seasoning was on point, no need for extra soy sauce or wasabi. The sake flights were a great way to try many different high end sake without committing to a whole bottle. The uni flight was a must for any uni lover and featured 2 different options from Hokkaido 1 from Santa Barbara, and 1 from British Colombia. Overall it was a great value with our whole check being about the same cist as 2 omakase menus alone at other near by options

Google
Amazing dining experience at this low-key Japanese restaurant in Mountain View. Located next to a busy Safeway, you can easily walk by and miss the entrance as they only have a small sign. The interior is small (seats only 24 people), but the sushi was super fresh and very well prepared. The hot dishes were also very good, and the sake menu was surprisingly large. Fast and friendly service. Large free parking lot. Highly recommend it!

Google
Omakase is good but there are better values in some newly opened competing restaurants. Some of the sashimi didn’t taste that great. Some are great. The service is great and the staff is exceptionally courteous.

Google
Tried the Omakase tasting menu and really enjoyed it! The food was fresh and nicely presented, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is on the smaller side, which makes for a cozy and intimate dining experience. The pacing of the courses was also well done—we never felt rushed, but there was no long waiting between dishes either. A great spot for a relaxed yet refined sushi night.

Google
The overall experience was good, the food was tasty and the flow for Omakase was decent. We added the Uni which total per person was $200. I would love it if they add a few more nigiri to the Omakase menu alone is $150 per person. Is it worth it? Maybe for special occasions.

Google
Sushi Jin in Mountain View is an absolute gem! We recently visited for my wife’s birthday, and we opted for the omakase tasting menu. From start to finish, every dish was crafted with such precision and care. The freshness and quality of the fish were outstanding, and each course was a delightful surprise. The balance of flavors and textures was impeccable, showcasing the chef’s incredible skill. The ambiance of the restaurant made the evening feel intimate and special. The staff was warm and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed to make the night memorable. My wife was thrilled, and so was I. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Sushi Jin is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!

Google
TLDR: Sushi Min was an exceptional upscale Japanese dining experience with fresh, high-quality raw fish and sushi. We opted for the 14-course tasting menu, and each dish was outstanding. The menu consists of four small (bite-sized) plates and 10 assorted raw fish bites, priced at $155 per person. The location is somewhat hidden in an unassuming strip mall near Safeway, but that adds to its charm. With only 20 seats, the intimate atmosphere is enhanced by warm, attentive service. Sitting at the bar gave us the added bonus of watching the chefs expertly prepare each dish. The standout was the black sesame dessert, a perfect balance of unique flavors, creamy texture, and crunchy sesame tuile—not too sweet, just right.

Yelp
Back again a year later and still had an incredible experience celebrating a birthday and a first timer to omakase! Booking a reservation was easy and loved the little birthday card presented at the table. They were more than accommodating for some personal requests. Our server recommended some sake and gave really amazing options that really suited our tastes. We got a glass of the Heiwa Shuzo Muryozan, junmai ginjo and Akabu Junmai Ginjo. The menu included sakizuke as our first app, kamasu as second app then chawanmushi (my fave) and started our 10 piece nigiri set, did a supplement of uni and finished off with suimono. Out of all the items the chawanmushi, barracuda, toro topped with cured egg yolk and arctic char were all stand outs. For supplement, we had to finish with uni I do wish they did include dessert in their omakase menu. Service was good, love watching chefs working in the open kitchen. Though I wish ours was a little bit more conversational, though he was very attentive throughout the entirety of the dining experience. Our server was also lovely and attentive with drinks and providing recommendations. Price point is still pretty good, as omakase prices have only increased so much at $155. A great experience and amazing food. I love that they also always seem to have regulars here as well. Truly a hidden gem!

Yelp
Dinner for 2. - Ambiance (4*) Minimalist to the extreme. Unassuming from the outside. Unassuming on the inside. But, the all wood decor actually is quite nice. We appreciated the casual ambiance. It let us focus on the food. - Service (5*) Excellent service from our waitress. Friendly, informative, un-intrusive. White glove service without any of the haughtiness. - Omakase, $155 (5*) Sushi was fresh, tasty, dressed perfectly and on occasion memorable. My favorite was the Engawa. An amazing texture. The chawanmushi with crab butter was divine. And I loved that the omakase finished with soup! - Uni Tasting, 4 types, $61 (5*) Hokkaido, Santa Barbara, Bafun Ensui, Canada. All tasty. The presentation was excellent. Loved the little mother-of-pearl spoon. - Hochija Panna Cotta, $12.50 (5*) What a finish! The toasted tea flavor was in every bite. Not too powerful, but ever present. Slight crunch from the granola. Mmm yum! - Value (4*) $155 for 14 great courses is pretty good, I think. We were full by the time we left. Just be aware if you add extras (sake flight, uni tasting, a-la-carte), the bill will add up quickly ($690 in our case). - Final Word Normally, when I get to go out with my wife, I love going somewhere where she puts on something super sexy, but Sushi Jin was a nice change of pace. Cute little casual spot with amazing sushi. Certainly a spot worth returning to.

Yelp
This is my go to local omakase spot. The restaurant is small but beautiful. The service staff is very attentive. I loved all of the dishes which was well crafted and beautifully presented.

Yelp
We had a dinner reservation elsewhere get canceled last minute and were able to snag a res here for our celebratory dinner instead! It worked out perfectly! Everything was delicious and we definitely were very full when we left. Loved everything that the chef chose! Each piece of fish just kept getting better and better. We did a few add ons including some specials and those were amazing. Whenever there were sauces brushed onto the fish, it paired with the fish so well and didnt overpower the fish. Definitely worth it! And also dont forget to end with their hojicha panacotta!!! It was amazing!

Yelp
One of my favorite Omakase places I have ever been to. The value is fantastic for the quality of the fish. The exterior may be unassuming as this little place is nestled in a strip mall with a grocery store, but the interior is nicely decorated with a large sushi bar and a few separate tables for a larger groups. There is great attention to detail to service here always looking to accommodate. The fish was fresh and delicious and plentiful. We opted for the Uni tasting on top of the regular Omakase menu. It was fun to try the varietals, though to be honest I was quite full at that point so I'm not sure I appreciated it fully. This will definitely be my go to recommendation for anyone looking for a reasonable Omakase.

Yelp
First omakase of my life and Sushi Jin killed it!!! I fully enjoyed and appreciated the experience and enjoyed every bite along with the incredibly attentive service!! And for such a reasonable price for the 14-course menu!!! Thank you to the chef and the restaurant for an amazing time!!!

Yelp
Located in a plaza, parking was relatively easy. Restaurant was a bit hard to spot at night since Maps kept leading us to the pet hospital but the restaurant is located right next to it. Friendly and attentive service from wait-staff and chef. We were seated right at our reservation time. We opted for the 14-course omakase and uni flight. Both a delight and would highly recommend. Hojicha panna cotta was great. Probably one of the better omakase places I've had in a while. No complaints here.

Yelp
Ambiance Combination of a chef's counter with traditional tables. It's a chill, low-key vibe that fet. Food The cooking is solid across the board. Nothing feels flashy or risky, but nothing is off either. It's the kind of place that delivers dependable technique and clean flavors, making for a very reassuring dinner. It's not aiming for fireworks, but it earns its keep with consistency. Favorites Crab chawanmushi and chutoro with cured egg yolk are standout picks. The crab chawanmushi is silky and delicate, with a gentle sweetness from the crab. The chutoro is luxuriously fatty, and the cured egg yolk adds a rich, savory umami lift that ties the bite together nicely. Overall A reliable choice for a relaxed sushi night. If you're after solid flavors, good technique, and a comfortable atmosphere, Sushi Jin won't disappoint. It's particularly worth a visit for the crab chawanmushi and the chutoro with cured egg yolk. Great for a casual date or a low-pressure dinner with friends.

Yelp
Bow down to the master omakase of South Bay. Wow wow wow! My mind is blown at the exquisite quality of every dish that went into my mouth. The omakase meal was so amazing that it left such an impression in my heart. Truly the best dining experience ever. it felt like I was one of the judges on top chef! Every dish we kept saying it was our most favorite lol. It just kept progressively getting better and better. The inside is not too big. About 10 seats at the bar. And probably like 4-5 surrounding tables. We loved the uni flight! It is so worth the additional add on. As far as the premium vs regular sake flight, I think either of them will be a nice addition but if you don't drink then obviously don't get it lol. I fell in love with master sushi Jin. I think the bar is set pretty high. And I will most definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Ambiance **** Reservation only, with no sign at the front other than a wood plank with a couple of kanji letters on the frosted window to the right of the door. Interior was sparsely decorated, simple, modest, neat, and clean. 8 Bar seats, and I think only up to 8x 2-tops that can be arranged to accommodate larger groups, but I think the place is really intended more for couples and smaller groups. Similar feel to Restaurant Gish. Open kitchen, though can't really see the chefs' tables from where we were. Service ***** Impeccable. Courteous, friendly. We made our reservation for 3 Omakase and 1 A'la Carte, decided to switch it to 2-2 at the restaurant, accepted without any fuss. For drinks we tried 3 different teas, each came as in its own pot. Servers kept the pots refilled at all time until the end. Smooth transition from one plate to the next for the omakase. Excellent introduction to each. I should record the explanation so I can remember some of the details. Only one shared restroom. If it was not vacant, they'd ask you to wait at your table, they kept track of the queue and let you know when it's available. Quality ***** Start to end, it was great. Satisfying. Unlike other high-end sushi/omakase place that I have tried so far, I did not have the urge to fill-up somewhere else afterward. When searching for a good sushi place, I want to either try something new that I haven't had before or very high quality fish/seafood, at a price point that reflects the experience or quality. Sushi Jin met those. The fish/seafood were fresh, there was no fishy after taste at all, and new experience for me. One flight of sashimi plate had Barracuda, Flying fish, and I think mackerel belly that was soft and tasty very unlike any mackerel I've ever had before. Another flight had different types of mackerel. And we opted to add the Uni tasting plate that was price relatively high but we thought it was worth it. The finishing touch of creme brulee infused with sake was also new to me. Presentation was as expected for omakase-style sushi, nothing fancy. Price & Tipping Practice ***** We thought that for the quality, service and experience, it was a pretty good deal. 20% Tips were mandatory for group of 6 or more, optional otherwise. Waiter left the PoS on the table and did not check until after we were halfway out the door. Pretty sure we will be back to try out a few items that were not part of the omakase.

Yelp
I have to add to my already-glowing earlier review of this place just to note that I had the best uni tasting of my life there on another visit. It included four small servings of uni. All were satisfying (and fresh - none of that uni "funk"!) but two were spectacular: the "purple uni" from Miyaki prefecture and the somewhat-local Santa Barbara uni. Make space for this tasting if they offer it on your next visit.

Yelp
Sushi Jin is a true hidden gem omakase tucked away in Mountain View, offering a thoughtful, elevated sushi experience that feels special from the first bite to the last pour of sake. We started with sakizuke, a refined appetizer that set the tone for the meal. The grilled sweet fish was beautifully charred and subtly seasoned, while the sea bream was delicate and fresh. The highlight, though, was the 10-piece nigiri set--each piece expertly crafted, especially the chutoro and ootoro, which melted in our mouths. We couldn't resist adding on the Santa Barbara uni (unbelievably sweet and creamy) and the A5 wagyu nigiri, which was rich, buttery, and completely worth the splurge. A rare and generous touch: they served us complimentary sake, which really took the hospitality to another level. That doesn't happen often in high-end sushi spots, and it left a lasting impression. The ambiance is intimate and inviting, with beautifully crafted and colorful teapots displayed all around that give the space a unique and calming charm. Even the restroom was spotless, smelled fresh, with the best Japanese-tech toilet bowl installed, which says a lot about the care they put into every detail of comfort. Final thoughts: Sushi Jin delivers not just on taste, but also on experience. Great food, warm service, elegant atmosphere--everything you want in a premium sushi night out. If you're looking for omakase-level quality without pretension, this is the spot.

Yelp
I wanted to treat my parents to a belated birthday dinner, so my partner and I took them to Sushi Jin. Making the omakase reservation online was easy. The omakase included 14 courses for $155/person, with the option to add: drinks, appetizers/dessert, and sushi a la carte. Getting to Sushi Jin was the trickiest part of the whole experience. It's nestled at the very end of a strip mall with a very small sign on the front door. We were a few minutes late to check-in, only because we were circling the plaza trying to locate the small restaurant. Once we found it though, the entire experience was wonderful! Since we made an early dinner reservation, we were the only ones seated for most of our dinner experience. The server was very attentive and so helpful - she would refill our tea cups immediately whenever we ran low. Each course was phenomenal! The delicate balance between flavors and textures was mesmerizing and satisfying. The sushi chef was very kind, and while he didn't talk at length with us, had a very warm smile throughout the entire meal. Overall, I'm so glad to share this experience with my family! While I do think the price is pretty hefty for the type of pieces you receive, I have also come to realize this is pretty standard in the SF Bay Area for omakase. The food was delicious, but truly the incredible service made this a stellar experience.

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. This was one of the best meals / dining experiences I've ever had. Definitely a splurge, but worth it imo for a special occasion. We did the omakase, which had 14 courses and was so much fun. It's in a very unassuming location, I've shopped at the Safeway next door many times and never noticed this spot. Inside is super cozy and I loved sitting at the bar / watching the chefs prep the next course. The staff were all super nice and helped make my husbands birthday feel really special!

Yelp
This spot has been on my bucket list since last year and now I'm finally here. :) I ordered the $155 14 course omakase with the Uni Flight Tasting add on which is an extra $41. The omakase was excellent. The chefs here are great at their craft and each dish is well prepared. I really loved that all of the nigiri had the perfect fish to rice ratio. The Uni flights were amazing. Probably the best Uni I've had in a while, and I appreciate the variety of Uni that they offered. At the end of my omakase, I opted for the Hojicha panna cotta $12.5 which was a smooth finish to my dinner. The service here was excellent. The servers and the chefs are very knowledgeable on their menu and are friendly. This restaurant is very small and intimate. Perfect place for a date night or a special occasion. All in all, without a doubt, I'd say this is this my favorite omakase spot I've been to in the South Bay so far. It was a great experience. Their menu is also seasonal which gives you something to look forward to. Highly recommend checking this spot out if you haven't already. Try it out if you like. :)

Yelp
The staff was super friendly and service was great! The appetizer was definitely the highlight...super tasty and well done. The omakase was okay, I've had fresher and more flavorful, but overall it was still a really nice experience.

Samantha F.

Yelp
The quality here is amazing and $155 for a 14-course omakase is so worth! I appreciate how attentive the servers are and overall had a great experience. Standouts: -Otoro -Iwana, Artic Char -Sanma -Chawanmushi -Hojicha Panna Cotta
google avatar

Yelp
Staff was so incredibly kind. Thank you to Jenny and the rest of the staff for the wonderful dinner! Def recommend their omakase. 14 courses: 3 apps, 10p sushi course and 1 soup. Everything was balanced and the sake menu also paired great with the courses. Also the bathroom had a toto toilet that was heated which to most isn't important but I miss Japan so much and the fancy/clean toilet was a plus!
google avatar

Yelp
My first experience with a nice high end Omakase restaurant and it was superb. Service was immaculate and super attentative. Loved how they took care of all the dishes and explained every course. The food was amazing as well. On par with sushi I've had in Japan. Everything was super fresh and nothing was overly fishy. Chefs seasoned each piece with flavors to complement the fish. Even the appetizers were amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Get in my belly! Great hole in the wall sushi spot! Played hooky on my family and came here with a friend for a Thanksgiving and it may have been one of the best Thanksgiving meals yet! Originally came here for the Omakase but they were out of a couple items so we decided to order from the a la carte menu and it was divine! Our server gave great recommendations and was detailed about what the flavor profile and texture would be like with each fish which really helped with the decision making. - wagyu beef croquettes - kanpachi tataki - Kani chawanmushi - hotate - noduguro - negitoro - chutoro - kanpachi toro - ebodai - king salmon toro - amaebi - wagyu - hojicha Panna cotta All 5/5 This place is a must if you're in the area

Yelp
$155 for 14 courses. I love that it's so close by and I don't have to drive into the city. I would describe the restaurant itself as both upscale and casual. Some of the guests were quite loud during dinner and moving around which was a bit distracting. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a romantic intimate dinner experience like many omakase restaurants in sf, but it's nice. The food is good.
google avatar

Lexi R.

Yelp
The omakase was just okay at Sushi Jin. I was so looking forward to this meal too. The starting dishes were fine. Nothing to write home too. As for the nigiri course, we had yellowtail, Flounder, Mackerel (two types), squid, butterfish, young sea eel, salmon, and Chu toro. The only fish that stood out to me was the saba. It was so delicious and actually one of the better sabas I've had! So tender and not too fishy. The young sea eel was just not my cup of tea and probably one of the very few times I wish I could spit out a nigiri lol. Absolutely turn off of a dish lol but maybe it's an acquired taste The rest of the nigiri was decent quality but nothing stood out. I'd rather just do a la crate if I were to ever come back since most of the fish selections with the omakase were meh. Service was great though.
google avatar

Christine N.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a friend's birthday on Sunday at 5:30 PM. The restaurant opens right at 5:30 PM. It was incredibly clean with a beautiful Japanese aesthetic. We opted for the omakase, priced at $155. The cost was well worth it for the experience and the exceptional quality of the fish. The fish was flavorful, buttery, and perfectly fatty. They also offer a unique uni tasting, where you can try three different types of uni from various locations. The service was excellent from start to finish. Definitely a great spot for a date night or a special occasion!
google avatar

Jordan T.

Yelp
I'm over a year late with this review, but I had to leave one because this sushi bar is currently #1 on my list in the US. I will forewarn you, though, that the omakase is "pricey," but for the first time in a long time, an establishment delivers on the quality you pay for. If I recall correctly, I had 14 perfectly executed dishes and felt full and in a dream after the experience. Every dish was perfect, the fish was fresh, and you can tell the nigiri portion of the omakase used seafood from regions that exuberate the highest quality. The service was top-notch, and the ambience was perfect. If I'm ever back in Mountain View in the future, you bet I'll make a reservation here.
google avatar

Annie H.

Yelp
Second time coming here and wow this menu had pieces in season that blew our mind! It was a great night from the service to unique fishes we haven't tried. We all got the omakase and an order of the uni tasting. You get four types for $55- a great deal with lots of uni! The Hokkaido one was our favorite. The Akabu sake paired perfectly with our meal. Light, fruity, crispy, and refreshing. I also added on a hairy crab nigiri and it was perfection. There wasn't a single piece that was mediocre. Great job chef Jin, we will be back! His team worked well together and service was seamless. The interior is lined with warm wood slats and makes you feel like you're in Japan!
google avatar

Sara J.

Yelp
My partner and I dined here for date night and it did not disappoint. We've tried quite a few omakase spots in the Bay Area and Sushi Jin is one of our new favorites. The restaurant was nice without feeling too stuffy. And the food itself was flavorful and well balanced. My favorites were the chawanmushi and the uni tasting (which we added on post omakase.) 12/10 would recommend & return again.

Yelp
My husband took me to Sushi Jin in MV for my birthday last year, and it was one of the most memorable meals I've had- especially as a first timer to omakase. If you're looking for a sushi experience that feels both high-end and welcome, this is place. We went with the 14-course omakase, which was beautifully paced and presented. Each dish had its own character, with a focus on clean flavors, delicate technique and incredible fresh fish. As a fun add- we splurged on the uni flight tasting and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the night. They serve several types of uni sourced from different regions- each one offering a slightly different texture and level of sweetness or brine. An absolute must if you love uni. Beyond the food, the service was outstanding. The chefs and staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. The ambiance is intimate and relaxed. There is bar seating that offers a personalized experience with the chef, as well as a few tables for slightly larger groups. I'd love to return with my dad, who is a big sushi fan. They've curated a space that's perfect for marking special occasions with your loved ones. Pro tip: Reservations are a must. It's a small space the books up quickly.

Jenny N.

Yelp
Oh my-kase, a relatively local omakase that isn't far up the peninsula and is absolutely delicious! I had reservations for counter seating with 4 other party members and it was fun being able to watch the chefs prepare. The pacing between each dish was good for really taking in the flavors before moving on to the next dish. My highlights were the uni tasting and hojicha panna cotta. I'm usually not into uni, but I learned that it was because I haven't had good uni until Sushi Jin. As for the panna cotta, it was a fusion of one of my favorite flavors and dessert which I haven't had before and really enjoyed. The dish that surprised me the most was the suimono! It was just a refreshing and light way to wind down a 14 course meal. This place would be great for special occasions and I'm looking forward to returning here!

Yelp
Came here with friends to celebrate my birthday and it was quite the experience! Though the restaurant is very unassuming, once you enter you are teleported into a more elegant setting. The bar seating was enjoyable with the amicable workers who were consistently making sure that our waters and sake glasses were filled. They even had the cutest birthday card with all the chef signatures set on the table. The fishes were so fresh and really shined through the toppings. They use very minimal sauce so you can definitely taste the quality through each bite. My favorites were akumutsu, Kinmedai and fried hotate with uni. If you are looking for an amazing sushi spot, look no further cause this is definitely one of my favorite omakase spots in the bay.

Yelp
My best omakase experience! The food was outstanding, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere perfect. Every dish was fresh, creative, and beautifully presented, can't wait to go back!"

Yelp
Consistently great omakase experience. I've had experienced this place 4 times now. Nigiri is always on point. The sake sommelier always makes good recommendations. Price point is fantastic as well and better than most other places I've tried in the Bay Area.

Yelp
Omakase restaurant located in a very lowkey plaza in Mountain View with lots of parking. We reserved for our anniversary at 7:30, arrived at 7:25, was told to wait outside and that they will text us since we will get started at 7:30 exactly. For our anniversary, they gave a cute little card and 2 glasses of complementary sparkling wine at the end. We each had the $155 omakase and sat at the bar. The first appetizer left a strong positive impression, it is very creative, and a mix of sweet and savory with the maguro, tomato jelly, some crunchy texture and celery root. Set the tone for a very good rest of the night. Their nigiri were all very well seasoned, to my liking. Rice is also perfect texture, not too soft or too hard. Our sushi chef however, didn't make them too compact so it was falling off slightly when I grabbed it. My favorite fish is the shima aji, tasted very fresh, texture is perfect. The other memorable one was the saba, which I have never had in nigiri form. The skin texture really surprised me. Their chutoro was also very fatty with tons of flavor. The salmon really surprised me. I have not had such tender and soft fish that literally just melted in my mouth. There were a few other ones that might be a little too fishy to my liking, like the sardine and mackerel. All in all a wonderful experience with the fish quality, taste, and service. I ordered two extra pieces of amberjack, but they only had 1 piece left. So they offered us something else called white yellowtail? Apparently not on the menu so that was cool. Sitting at the bar however, some other customers do tend to get pretty loud since it is also a pretty small restaurant.

Yelp
Sushi Jin was an amazing experience. Omakase menu was beautiful and delicious. Everything was fresh and made with delicacy. Uni sampler was fresh. Recommend also getting the same flight - they've got some fun same selections! Service was great - the staff were very informative. A great place with quiet ambiance to celebrate a special occasion. I thought the price was suitable for the quality of the omakase, with consideration to the Bay Area.

Yelp
Everything it is cracked up to be. The food was excellent (we did Omakase and a little extra.). Well worth it. I've been to Morimotos and I truly believe this was better than the service was the best.

Yelp
I went here to celebrate my birthday, and it was also my first time trying omakase! Came on a Thursday night at 7:30pm. I love how they set up a card to celebrate an occasion, whether that's a birthday, anniversary, etc. The couple next to us had a heart card which was super cute! (celebrating their anniversary) I recommend that you book a reservation if you want to sit at the bar, for that full experience. Omakase took us about almost 2 hours, so make sure you allocate time when you go. When you arrive, there is no store front sign. Inside of the restaurant, it's small and cozy. The hosts provided great service and are knowledgable about the menu. The chefs gave great service and asked how we liked our food throughout the night. Of course everything was delicious and I don't have a favorite, lol! I also learned that the traditiona way of doing omakase is by starting out with lighter flavors to heavier flavors, interesting. Pictured are what we ate, not including all the appetizers. The uni sampler (?) that we got was amazingggg!! Additionally, we got their iced matcha and the cherry blossom tea. Both were great pairings to the omakase, you can't go wrong with ordering either or (though I do prefer hot tea when eating this meal now). Also, since it was my birthday they gave me a strawberry sake which was delicious. Enjoy the pictures and videos I attach! P.S., im in love with omakase now. From the food to the whole experience and vibe.

Yelp
Sushi Jin has been one of my favorite omakase spots for special occasions. It's definitely a splurge, but in the past, it's always felt worth it. While this particular visit left me with a few mixed feelings (it felt more like a 3-star experience), I'm giving 4 stars overall because all my previous visits were solid 5s. The meal began beautifully--the appetizers were thoughtfully crafted and full of flavor. My favorite was the satoimo with karasumi and crab. It was rich, delicate, and had a great mix of textures that made it really memorable. The nigiri course, however, didn't quite hit the same high notes. Some of the fish selections, like hotaru ika and kohada, weren't to my personal taste this time. We also added the uni tasting after the prix fixe menu, which included four types of uni from different regions. The Hokkaido uni stood out and was excellent, but the others didn't quite deliver. In hindsight, I would've been happier just sticking with the Hokkaido uni. Service was still attentive and the atmosphere remains one of the highlights--it's a great place to slow down and enjoy the experience. I'll definitely be back, hoping for a return to the level of excellence I've come to expect.

Yelp
Had a reservation here on Friday at 5:30 for counter service and we got the corner, which was great since we got to see all of the dishes being brought out to the tables and gave us an idea of what people were eating. We had ordered the omakase ($155 pp) with one order of the uni add-on ($45) to share along with several other additions, which we added throughout our meal up until 30 mins of our seating (2 hour limit). We both ordered tea, which came in different pots and we noticed the variety of tea pots they had that all looked fantastic! The omakase dinner comes with 3 appetizers, 19 piece Nigiri, and a soup to end up. This is a pretty good amount of food but we also added on a Chawanmushi (wife's favorite), 3 additional Nigiri, and the ice cream to finish off and we were beyond stuffed but it was all so worth it! My wife wanted me to add that the first appetizer could have done with some added texture to it, something like jellyfish may have been a good compliment. We really liked the tempura and it really blew us away with the taste and texture. The Kinki was also pretty amazing and had an excellent texture and wasn't oily/buttery as we were fearing and had great balance. . The nigiri came out one at a time with around a 3-5 lag between pieces so nice to be able to enjoy them (recommended with your hands and they give you a nice finger towel as well) and have a bit of conversation with some drinking in between before the next one came. They were all excellent pieces and it wasn't an easy 'better as you go' type of experience, which I love. Each piece was well selected to bring your taste experience through a journey. The chefs were very talkative and interacted with us throughout the meal along with the wait staff. I love uni and was really excited for the uni set that we ordered and they had a few different types/regions with two of them being brined in their own salt water, which gave them an interesting twist that you don't experience much. Overall they were enjoyable but didn't quite hit the quality we were expecting. Our add-on Nigiri were all excellent, with two of them being recommended by the staff, the hairy crab and the steamed prawn. Both were really great but my wife's favorite was the amaebi. She rated that Nigiri as the best out of everything we ate with the chanwanmushi coming in a close second. Overall, one of our best sushi experiences in the states.

Yelp
We came to Sushi Jin to celebrate our wedding anniversary last night, and had an amazing dinner! Restaurant was a bit tricky to find. Kinda reminded me of a speak easy from the outside. To make it easier for those reading, it's located on the left side of the nail salon. There's a black looking plaque outside of the door with the restaurant name on it. It'll be easily missed by walking by, but you'll see it. Sushi Jin is definitely one of the better omakase experience that I've had in a while. I've been pretty disappointed in the past with some of the omakases in SF, but the food and execution of each plate here deserves the recognition. Sushi chefs were friendly and worked on our plates swiftly. Everything was executed in a timely manner. There were a lot of fishes served that I've never had from my previous omakase experience. All the fishes are from Japan and maybe like 2 on the menu I saw were from New Zealand. We ended our night with the house made yam ice cream and it was delicious!

Yelp
Second time coming here and it was another great experience. Service from both the chef and the waiter/waitress was amazing and the food was spectacular. The omakase had a great variety of nigiri that were very unique and introduced me to different fish/shellfish I would typically not try otherwise. Some of the nigiri served included mackerel, pen shell clam, medium fatty tuna, salmon, and more. They all tasted very fresh and it was amazing being able to try them and compare them to one another. As an addition, there was the uni tasting platter including 5 different uni ranging from Santa Barbara to different regions in Japan. The. uni were quite distinct from one another and it was a very enjoyable experience. I would recommend coming here if given the opportunity!

Yelp
The South-bay Omekase on the top of my list Love the fusion Omakase that Chef Jin and his team present. The appetizers are full of creativity, and the presentation is undoubtedly next level! The restaurant is low-key in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking spots. This has become our go-to sushi place in South Bay. Make a reservation before you go-- the sushi counter only serves two rounds per night, and each table reservation is at 30-minute intervals. Total capacity is less than 30 people at a time!

Yelp
We have been here twice for the omakase over the last 6 months. Both times were wonderful! The first time my wife & I came for an anniversary dinner and sat at the bar as a couple. Just last week we came back with our adult kids and one's girlfriend. We sat at a table this time. The dishes were really great both times. A nice mix of things that tasted familiar and things that tasted new! Each time one of the dishes was a grilled fish, and some of the dishes were flambéd. Some were small and complex, while others were very simply flavored. Every single course was of course delicious. Hard to have a favorite, but my son loves scallop sushi and one of the courses happened to be this. Ambience: from the moment you are invited in (yes, you all wait outside until the time of your seating, everyone in the seating is invited in at once) everything about the space and service is part of the experience, and very nicely done. Warm lighting, lofi music for the ears, each staff member is professional, courses of course are presented beautifully at a wonderful cadence. The appetizer courses were presented singly, the sushi courses were presented in groups of 1-3, for some interesting combinations. Between the two time we went, I actually preferred being in the larger group. After our server presented each course, there were more of us to talk about what we were tasting! Also last but not least, we had sake :) the first time here, we had two tasting flights, one of the more expensive ones and of the less, so in all we had six sakes to try! This second time, we had a bottle of sparkling sweeter sake to start, then a drier sake. Both yummy, I know nothing about sake but I do trust these meet the high bar of the restaurant.

Yelp
Service, food, ambiance were all excellent. It was not loud or overwhelming. All the servers were quite hands on and catered to all customers by clearing dishes right away and pouring tea/drinks when needed. The sushi chefs were friendly and always made sure to introduce each of the nigiri and fish. They also asked often if the food was to our liking. I very much enjoyed this omakase restaurant and would return for other occasions. Oh, they also had a fresh shipment of Hoikkado uni and offered it for our uni flight. It was incredibly sweet and buttery tasting! Loved it!

Yelp
My husband and I made reservations for omakase dinner at 5:30pm on a Saturday. We showed up at the restaurant a couple of minutes before opening, and there were several couples already waiting outside. We noted how punctual the restaurant was as they opened at 5:30 right at the dot. Sushi Jin was beautiful in its own simple way. Our table was tucked in the corner, which was nice because it made for a private and intimate dinner. Wonderful hospitality! I had put in the reservation notes that the reason of our reservation was celebrating our nuptials, and we received a sweet congratulatory table card and complimentary champagne toasts. In general, the wait staff was very friendly and courteous. We got the omakase dinner, an uni tasting, a nigiri a la carte per recommendation of our waitress, and a dessert. Overall food was delicious, but there were certainly some standout dishes. The omakase tasting wasn't the best I've seen in terms of presentation, but the quality of the fish and unique flavors and textures were impressive. We also ordered the nodoguro that isn't part of the omakase menu. The grilled ebodai (butterfish) was my favorite from the sushi course. I also enjoyed the soup course, which had a soft and flaky black cod. The uni tasting was such a treat. When I initially signed up for the tasting, they had 3 types of uni. Sushi Jin had 5 types at the time of our dinner, so we decided to upgrade our tasting to include the other 2. I love uni but admittedly never done a tasting. This was an experience I couldn't miss out on, and what's cool was that I could really taste the differences between each one. Loved the hojicha panna cotta. The panna cotta was smooth and creamy, and the hojicha flavor was very prominent.

Yelp
Hidden gem in a strip mall in Mountain View, almost couldn't find the place, but love how its tucked away and somewhat mysterious. Came here to celebrate a very special valentine's day after getting married. Hard to get reservations as they do timed seatings, so reserve early! We were welcomed inside right on time and seated at the bar. The servers were extremely professional and friendly, my water glass was never empty. We opted for the Omakase, which was 14 unique dishes. The interaction with the chefs behind the counter was awesome, was really cool to see the details of every dish put together with the utmost care. Fish was of the highest quality, and each bite told a unique story. Highly recommend making a reservation here for a special night, its definitely worth the splurge.

Yelp
My husband and I love Sushi Jin! We've been here twice and always leave happy and full. The omakase menu is reasonable, although not the most filling on its own (for us). We always end up ordering a la carte after as well as dessert since it's not included in the omakase menu, which is slightly disappointing. The a la carte selection is pretty good, as we've been able to try fish that we haven't tried before. Service is good and the chefs are nice. We always enjoy sitting at the counter to watch the preparation of the nigiri. Restaurant is small and intimate. Decor is modern and sleek.

Yelp
Celebrated my partner's birthday here and the experience was amazing! We requested the bar seating so we were able to watch the sushi chefs create each course in front of us. Did the 14 cour omakase menu which was $155. This menu had a variety of unique appetizers, nigiris, handrolls, and a soup at the end. Each course was delicious but my favorites were the fried hotate/uni/shiso and saba handroll! A great omakase experience and a nice treat for my partner. He really enjoyed it! They even had a little birthday sign at our spot and gave him a complimentary sake drink at the end for his birthday. Thank you Sushi Jin!

Yelp
I came here for my birthday dinner and it was so good! The omakase was good value for the money and the fish was so fresh. Highly recommend adding the uni tasting as well since you get to try uni from 3 different areas. Highly recommend for a special occasion!

Yelp
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The entrance doesn't have a large sign above advertising it, so it can be easy to miss. We were welcomed with a simple yet nice birthday card at his seat (reservations indicated), and that was very appreciated. The atmosphere has slightly dimmed lighting and sleek dark decor, perfect for special occasions. Personally, I think the bar experience is more interactive from being able to watch the chefs in action and have them directly hand your courses to you; however, I would definitely choose table seating for a more intimate romantic experience. We elected to get the 14-course omakase and my boyfriend said "It all just tastes like fish." He's not wrong in a sense, but everything was good regardless. Personally, I felt that every single course varied a little bit in some way, whether it be the temperature, texture, or garnish of the dish. Just for reference, 10 of the courses were a piece of nigiri, so if you're expecting a boatload of food, understand that this meal will nicely satiate, but not complete fill up (my boyfriend and I are big eaters). The uni flight was so beautifully plated, and each of the uni really tasted different (in good ways). It was such a fun dish to eat. Most importantly, the dessert we had was amazing. Out of curious for a sake flavored dessert, I ordered the creme brûlée. True to its name, the sake flavor really does come through in the custard, which really deepened the flavor of the dessert. Usually, alcohol-flavored desserts don't really incorporate the flavor of the alcohol well (either too light or too strong), but this creme brûlée was absolutely perfect. Each spoonful was light, creamy, slightly sweet, and the taste of sake was distinct yet not overpowering. This was a wonderful way to end our meal. My boyfriend ended up saying dessert was his favorite thing here.

Yelp
This was my first omakase experience, and it was absolutely wonderful. My friend was able to get reservations at the bar, which I truly wanted to have that real first hand experience watching the sushi chefs while dining. Seems like there was a lot of birthdays and they had a nice little bday greeting card for each person and a welcome sake drink. 3 appetizers to start with and the black cod was my absolute favorite. Melted in my mouth! My friend also ordered the tempura and chawanamushi. It was the best I've ever had. So silky and creamy, a hug in a bowl. I could eat this everyday. Then we had 10 pieces of nigiri. My favorites were the mackerel hand roll, so much flavor in that little bite. The toro was excellent as well. One more course to end, but we also had their panna cotta which is my favorite dessert. This was also smooth with crunch from the sweet toppings. Service was of course excellent, and the dinner was nearly 2 hours. Highly recommend!
