One of Kuala Lumpur’s favourite sushi master chef Norikazu Shibata. The omakase here is crafted using seasonal ingredients.” The sashimi and sushi is fresh and made with incredible finesse. Every pieces has its own flavour. Oishi. Oishi 😁

Can’t put in words how amazing this place was. The service was impeccable and the fish was oh so fresh. Very impressed by the variety of seafood served, especially some of the lesser seen shellfish

Kazu @ Bukit Damansara is the kind of place that quietly delivers Michelin-level flavors without the inflated price tag. As someone who’s had a fair share of premium sushi across KL (and beyond), I can confidently say that Kazu’s Otoro and Uni offerings are some of the best — and most reasonably priced — in the city. ⸻ 🐟 Otoro – Buttery, Fresh & Generous The otoro here is absolutely sublime. Every piece was thick-cut, buttery soft, and luxuriously marbled — melting on the tongue with just the right touch of temperature and texture. Whether it was served as sushi, sashimi, or in their signature rolls, the quality was undeniable. And unlike many high-end spots, the portions were generous, and they let the fish speak for itself — minimal seasoning, maximum flavor. 🍣 Uni – Briny Perfection The Hokkaido uni was equally impressive — fresh, sweet, and creamy with no unpleasant aftertaste (a true test of uni quality). It came in several forms: as a topping on nigiri, layered in rolls, and even paired with wagyu for an indulgent surf-and-turf bite. Each variation was thoughtfully balanced and let the uni shine. The best part? Prices were shockingly fair given the quality — especially compared to typical KL fine dining sushi spots. ⸻ 💰 Great Value for Quality Kazu nails the balance between premium ingredients and a down-to-earth, honest price point. For the quality of the otoro and uni alone, you’d expect to pay nearly double at a typical omakase or luxury sushi bar — but here, it’s accessible without compromise. ⸻ 🌿 Atmosphere & Service The space is warm, stylish, and unpretentious. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to walk through the menu or make pairing suggestions. The vibe is casual enough for a weekday dinner, but elevated enough for a special occasion. ⸻ ✅ Final Verdict: If you’re an otoro or uni lover, Kazu is a no-brainer. You get world-class ingredients, beautifully prepared, at a price that leaves you smiling instead of sweating. This spot is a true hidden gem in Bukit Damansara, and I’ll absolutely be back to explore more of their menu — but the otoro and uni will always be on my table. Highly recommended.

Visited Kazu for the first time to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful experience. The food is authentically Japanese, crafted by a skilled sushi master. I loved the long counter seating with its comfortable chairs, which made the meal feel even more special. Service was very attentive, adding to the overall excellent dining experience.

Kazu in Kuala Lumpur is a hidden gem for authentic Japanese cuisine. The ambiance is warm and refined, with the personal service of Chef Hiro Sakamoto is perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Every dish—from the expertly prepared Cawan Mushi to the fresh sashimi—showcases top-quality ingredients and precise craftsmanship. The service is attentive yet unobtrusive, enhancing the overall dining experience. A must-visit for Japanese food lovers in the city. We enjoyed a good Mother’s Day dinner there and look forward to have another visit soon.

Had the Tsuki course. Yes, the sushi is good. Floor service and ambience is top notch. But for me, the fish varieties are boring….. Chutoro, Madai, Hotate, Kanpachi. Luckily the Ebi saves my day, it’s really outstanding and I encored for another piece. With this price tag, one could have better choices with food quality at this level.

Such fresh, delicious and high quality food, sublime ambience, and had a fantastic conversation with the amazingly talented yet friendly Kazu-san, our chef for today’s Valentine’s Day lunch where we went with the Kazu set. Highly recommended!

Just a wonderful omakase restaurant. Delicious and varied sushi and very skilled chefs. Some pieces were a bit overly sauced but the flavor of the ingredients eventually and always shines through. We ordered the Hoshi lunch set at rm258, and it had a great variety of pieces; white fish, tuna, shining fish, shrimp and the classic uni/ikura/negitoro combo. In particular, I appreciated the almost crunchy garoupa which I had not tried often. In addition Kazu has some of the tastiest sushi rice I can remember; more tart than usual but wonderfully balanced and each grain of rice was fully recognizable (perfect moisture). The additional tuna roll we added at the end was the perfect cap: all that delicious rice and tuna/seaweed is so satisfying Service is excellent as expected and the Japanese sushi chef (sorry didn’t get his name!) is very friendly and comfortable in multiple languages. Lunch is a fantastic value and, for a change for reasonably priced omakase, filling. Alcohol is a bit pricey though, so be aware. Will be our new regular omakase spot!
