"A true west-side gem, Ki-Ichi serves impeccable fish that is remarkably inexpensive, considering the quality; the restaurant’s sweet shrimp is particularly well done. Opt for the restaurant’s omakase options, a chef’s selection that doesn’t exceed $35. While many appetizers and side dishes are negligible at sushi restaurants, Ki-Ichi’s stands out, with everything from dashimaki tamago to an array of udon." - Seiji Nanbu, Janey Wong

Wow great sushi, sashimi and Bento box. Might be one of the best Bento boxes I have ever had! Miso soup perfect. They even have there own homemade soy sauce, a little thicker then usual. So good I will be back.

Amazing food at great prices! Very fresh with new varieties of nigiri to try. The monkfish liver and sea bream were very good. The pudding was housemade and delicious as well. My new go-to spot. Need to make a reservation though as it can get busy.

Abbie Qi

Google
One of my favorite Sushi place in town. Lunch is great value and dinner is good too. Fresh and quality sashimi.

Wow! How have I not been here before! Amazing sushi. So fresh, delicious cuts of fish. I would love eat here every day! The rainbow roll, dragon roll and hakkoi roll were all amazing. Calamari might have been the best we ever had!!

I have been coming to Sushi Kiichi for a couple of years now and it is hands down the best sushi in and around Portland. Mickey one of their employees is always extremely kind and always repeats your order back to you for accuracy which I appreciate. My favorites are the Philadelphia roll, the shrimp crunchy roll, California hand roll, and the bento box with teriyaki chicken. I usually order take out but both dine in and to-go have been excellent. I highly recommend it!

Google
What a hidden gem! A friend took me here recently and I would have never known it was there. The staff is super friendly. I’ve been told the chef sources everything he can from Japan. I almost feel like I am back in Japan when I eat here. The sushi is delicious and I’d say the best I’ve had in the Portland/Meteo area! I highly recommend the eel. I was also super impressed with the curry! If you’re looking for some great Japanese cuisine look no further.

Google
We drove all the way from Vancouver🇨🇦to find this restaurant, happy to say we are very satisfying that the restaurant price is decent, the food overall is fresh & high quality. Staff is friendly

UPDATE: returned and was extremely disappointed. The incredible quality in fish that I had was no where to be found. Each piece of tuna I received had a grayish band running through it and had a slight fishy off smell. There was little to no marbling. The salmon nigiri was mostly covered with tough salmon skin (not sure if this was intentional or not but it was the first time I’d experienced this eating professionally prepared sushi). ——— Without doubt the best sushi you’ll find in Oregon and in Tigard of all places. Be prepared to spend at least $60 to leave feeling full but it will be worth it. I haven’t seen this quality of fish anywhere else. Each piece is careful made to perfection and with the highest quality ingredients. While the interior is unassuming and uninspiring (but clean) that won’t matter once you start eating.

Justin R.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! I did not expect to find such quality near me. I simply searched "sushi near me" because my friend and I wanted to eat something light and easy, but little did we know that this would become one of my new favorite spots! The service staff were kind and accommodating. We showed up to the restaurant on a busy Saturday night with no reservation, but they seemed to make an effort to get us right in despite the fact the place was very packed. These menus are HUGE, not just in what's on it, but also in size (perfect for seeing impaired, we joked). I typically like to compare price vs quality/quantity of food, but this place skirts by that by being such good quality that I simply don't care that this is slightly on the spendier side of things. The nigiri we ordered (eel, seared salmon, salmon, yellowtail, bluefin tuna) was fresh and melts like a delicious fishy butter. Most places like to serve eel drenched in some sort of barbecue sauce, but not this place, which let's the tenderness and flavor of the eel stand on its own. The rest were superb. My friend ordered the Alaskan Roll, which consisted of salmon, avocado, real crab, shrimp, flying fish roe, salmon roe. I ordered the Hokkai Roll, which was tuna, salmon, real crab, flying fish roe, salmon roe, scallop, shiso (perilla). This might've been my favorite roll I've had. Rarely do I ever see real crab and scallops on a sushi menu, so I was extremely surprised and extremely pleased. Topped off all of that with some salty, warming, miso soup, and we had an amazing meal that we did not expect to have. We were in the mindset of getting something easy, a conveyor belt restaurant even, but Sushi Ki-ichi turned out to be such a great choice. I will definitely be coming back here many many many times more.

Ben C.

Yelp
Common corner joint for the neighborhood. The vibe is cozy but dated decor. Traditional sushi, good cuts of sashimi. Nothing on draft, usual sake selection; a bit pricey. Cordial & kind service through the meal.

Carlee M.

Yelp
this place reminded me of a lot of the japanese restaurants I used to go to growing up in hawaii. been here a couple of times & continue to love it! def a go-to for japanese food in tigard. their menu is huge, so there's definitely something for everyone. they have anything from sushi (hand rolls, nigiri, even omakase which I wanna try), to a variety of bento boxes, udon & more traditional japanese food items! the fish is really fresh!! my favs: - salmon or hamachi nigiri - tempura udon noodle soup - any of their hand rolls -- MORE INFO -- PARKING: part of pacific plaza, lots of parking in the lot SEATING: lots of tables & seating available. I've gone on weekday evenings during dinner time & didn't have to wait for a table. COST: expect higher prices for a meal, you are paying for fresh fish haha. but a very reasonable price imo. SERVICE: staff is very sweet & service is quick

Rachel D.

Yelp
Probably one of the best sushi places I've tried in a long time! We tried the Nobu special which was made with toro and salmon toro and it was so fatty and delicious! The fish is so fresh and prices are extremely reasonable for the quality. A bit on the spendy side, but it was still good!

Cesar D.

Yelp
Well we were finally able to get a table at Sushi Ki-ichi, we have been attempting to eat here for about 6 months. We got in right as they opened. The food, wow well worth the wait, the seating areas vary they have a set of private sections, open seating and seating next to the prep area. The menu is vast, we had a bento box with sashimi and teriyaki chicken, scorpion roll side of gyoza and a Vegas roll. The sashimi was amazing, we also had a spicy tuna wrap, everything was tasty. I cannot wait to come back again. Come early and ready to eat you will not be dissatisfied.

Dennis W.

Yelp
Food still tastes as great as ever. Never had a problem with the service. Always ordered takeout as it's close to where I live. But this last trip, $5.00 for this Kaisou Bowl?

Yan W.

Yelp
Of course I went back! We had to try different things! We went on a Friday and this is what we got: 1. Kaisen don. It's pretty much a sashimi rice bowl. The sashimi were very fresh! It was $28. yes it was fresh but I wish there were at least two slices of the same fish or seafood. One of some of them like salmon or scallop was not enough :) 2. We ordered their weekday lunch bento and it was all fried goodies. Let this day be a cheat day because it's worth each and every calorie! It was so good, light, and it didn't leave a dense or heavy feeling. It was so good and the sauces were nicely mixed/made as well. This lunch special was $18. Delish! I was also able to practice a bit of my Japanese which was a bonus; thank you to the servers as they were patient with me!

Jordan B.

Yelp
What can I say? Japan in Oregon? We got back from a recent trip to Japan and I was desperately craving some of the food experiences we had there. We went to this place and were so happy. The sunomono was crisp and delightful, and the karaage don I orders tasted exactly like a dish I had in Japan. The service was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. I definitely recommend this place. Oh yeah, the sushi was also great!!

John M.

Yelp
Not sure if this restaurant is still operating. It had a closed sign and the windows look covered and there was a fence covering the door.

Cathy P.

Yelp
Absolutely the best sushi in the area. We are still getting takeout from Sushi Ki-Ichi two or three a month and it just keeps getting better. Prices (as everywhere) have gone up a tad but nothing too painful, although a few items haven't increased in price at all. Quality is outstanding and staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The Sushi Chef greets everyone who enters the front door with "Irasshaimase!" which means "Welcome, please come in." I keep saying I'm going to try something new but the California ($8) and Rainbow rolls ($16) call my name every time. I also love the slightly sweet Inari ($3): stuffed fried bean curd with vinegary but not-to-sweet rice. Is it weird that I pile fresh, sliced pickled ginger on mine? OK, I'm weird but the fresh ginger is so good. The tempura ($12-$14) is fresh, hot and not greasy, ever. The edamame ($4) makes the best appetizer, along with the perfect miso soup ($3), that is perfect on a cold, rainy Oregon day. They have Bento boxes ($16-$21) and a weekdays-only daily lunch special for under $20. The Karaage ($7.50) Japanese fried chicken, is inspired! As is the calamari ($10). And don't worry, they have gyoza too. Get the pork ($6.50 for 5), masterfully pan-fried and delicious. Sushi Ki-Ichi is still Tigard's best little gem. Get in there!

LaRae B.

Yelp
Worth seeking out as Sushi Ki-ichi is hidden behind a 7-11 and next to a wood store and Value Village. The food is really delicious and authentic. My husband usually gets the nigiri and says that everything is fresh and tasty. I love their bento box for lunch which is a screaming deal at $16.50. The hearty bento includes a choice of entree (assorted tempura, shrimp cutlet, pork cutlet, chicken cutlet, chicken teriyaki, karaage, ginger pork, or saba shioyaki), miso soup, rice, and a few other dishes. The standout "other dish" for me is a mashed potato that is fried into a patty. It is crisp on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. The space is big with plenty of tables so there is never a wait. Service is very friendly. Highly recommend!

Christina F.

Yelp
Food here was good. Called in to ask how long the wait is and they said if come in now there are tables available. When we walked in 10 minutes later it was still available. It took a few minutes to order our food but when we did we ordered everything at once. The kitchen food came out first and it took longer for the sushi. The appetizer grilled mackerel was good, along with the tempura. The sushi was really fresh. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5, is this is the first sushi restaurant I've been in, In a really long time where they didn't have soy paper. Kids only eat soy paper and they didn't enjoy the sushi as much.

Quyen T.

Yelp
Came for dinner with sister and parents. For the price, their omakase is very good. The uni isn't as fresh and I would like. Over all all the pieces are very delicious. My parents enjoyed the fried shirmps very my much and my favorite is the fatty tuna. We got lucky and didn't have wait for table at all. And they don't take reservations just first come first serve

Sally C.

Yelp
We recently moved to the area and am so glad we found this place! Fish quality is great and fresh!

Dennis C.

Yelp
This is my new favorite sushi restaurant! Good quality fish. workers are super sweet. prices are also reasonable. My go to dish is the omakase--it comes with miso soup!

Molly A.

Yelp
Caveat - I grew up in the Midwest and don't think I've ever actually had very good sushi - and I tended not to get actual raw fish (sticking to veggie rolls and the like) - but Sushi Ki-ichi was definitely the best sushi I've had. Fortunately I got the rec to come here from a good from Japan who knows sushi, and I'm happy he recommended it! Had several various nigiri and rolls - tuna, fatty tuna, seared salmon, and creamed scallop. All quite tasty, though personally next time I think I'd skip the scallop (seems like a popular one tho). I tend to avoid the spicy rolls but this one was quite tasty. Enjoyed the shrimp crunchy and cucumber avocado roll. I was very pleasantly surprised how much I liked the rainbow roll - the crab salad inside was decent and the fish on the outside was superb. I've always found eel to be hit or miss at places for me, but this one was good. Definitely plan to add this place to my usual places - will get there right at 5:00 when they open next time though - it was already quite busy when we got there at 5:30.

Kaythlin Y.

Yelp
Great spot, this was my first time and I loved everything that I ordered! Great service, and had both by the sushi bar counter and table seating available. Highlights were fried oysters and their creamy scallop! Will order these each time I come back. Also recommend the Hokkai and Nobu Special IQ Rolls if you're looking for fresh fish rolls.

Michael S.

Yelp
Food was awesome 10 times better than anyplace we've been in a long time. Very fresh, good size portions, rice is great, nori is great, fish is great. I live in Vancouver and I will drive to there to get food to go. Well worth the trip.

Tristan H.

Yelp
I have come to the sushi spot for years! They are a family owned Japanese restaurant that put out the best product for every customer. This is authentic, people! Come here!!! Don't go to the other place, seriously!

Eliza M.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful! We had a low-key date night dinner here, and the flavors and portion sizes were perfect. I particularly enjoyed the salmon poke and the zenzai but there were no misses! There were no issues with accommodating dairy allergy, either.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Always consistently great choice for sushi! Good food and service. Anything off the menu is good, a few more dishes I've tried.

Hai H.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of sushi places in the Portland area and I got to say, the sushi here is 100. Authentic and delicious. The fish is fresh AF. The wait staff plays no games. They will tell you what they like and have lots of recommendations.

Patrick D.

Yelp
This is one of those spots where virtually everything is good here. I mean, I haven't had everything on the menu yet. But everything we've had here so far has been excellent. The staff is super friendly, and everything seems to come out fairly quickly. It's an old stand-by, and if it weren't for all the construction around there (street repairs and freeway construction), I'd go more often. It certainly is one of the area's hidden gems.

Mitch H.

Yelp
Wow... just a HUGE Wow... Wife went to a friend's house and she does not appreciate Sushi... so I jump on Yelp to figure out how far I need to drive from Bull Mountain. Turns out... not that far! Holy $#1t this place is legit! Easily the best sushi in the area by far! Get reservations... or be prepared to wait. Either way... WELL WORTH IT! Yummmm...

Marissa A.

Yelp
This place is 5 stars!!! There's a reason there's a wait to be seated, and for the record, it's WORTH THE WAIT! Everything we tasted was delicious, and we eat a lot of sushi. Nothing too gamey, every roll was just perfect. We got the spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon, scorpion roll, assorted tempura, and calamari. It hit the spot! Very happy girl. And the customer service was wonderful too!

Wes B.

Yelp
Best Sushi in Tigard for fans of simple nigiri. Price is phenomenal, and it's great to support Japanese owned sushi restaurants. Service is always great.

Michael B.

Yelp
Sushi Ki-ichi is probably my favorite go-to sushi/Japanese restaurant spot that's in the Portland metro area. The space is spacious, but there aren't too many tables. There have been a few times we had to wait for a table, so keep that in mind if you come during prime dinner hours. The staff is always kind and courteous. They made sure that our tea was always refilled and hot. I've never had a bad experience here with service. The food is also delicious. It's a great price for the food that you get, especially if you come during lunch for their lunch special. My go-to order is their creamy scallop gunkan, udon, and the Nobu Special IQ Roll. The sushi rice is well-seasoned, the fish is flavorful, and the udon is satisfying and warm. Definitely check this place out!

Hailey C.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant! We've been here dozens of times and always had excellent experiences. The sushi is fresh and delicious, and the service is always welcoming and attentive. We love the nobu special iq roll and the omakase. Their fried oysters are always fried to perfection as well. 10/10 recommend!

John T.

Yelp
This place is great! The sushi chefs learned and worked in Japan before moving to the U.S. When we go, we arrive early as it can get backed up quick.

Lynn N.

Yelp
Amazing sushi! For that taste I'll gladly pay the price. The Nobu is absolutely fantastic.

Kate M.

Yelp
Quietly standing in a busy lot, this restaurant is a well known place for locals. Came across this place right around the time the mask mandate was being relaxed. They had to reduce their tables dramatically but the to-go orders seemed to fly off their tables. I come here with my mom (who is a frequent flyer here) every time I visit the area and you will not be disappointed. Great sushi rice, amazing fish quality. Specifically their tuna and their uni is consistently delicious. Apparently they only stock it if the quality is up to their standards so I'm happy about it. Everyone else seems to like their other entrees (can't speak for it) but definitely their sushi is top notch. Great sushi, awesome staff, delicious food.

Amanda W.

Yelp
I came here based on the ratings since there aren't a lot of great sushi places in the area. I've passed this place so many times judging based only in the surrounding area. We were pleasantly surprised by our meal! The food was fresh- spicy salmon rolls were my favorite and my wife got the katsu curry which wasn't too salty. We will definitely be coming back. The staff are also so nice, it is a busy place but they are so kind and attentive. Looking forward to coming back!

syd m.

Yelp
Sooooo good. Went here for lunch with my sister and we got a few rolls, the kaisou salad, and two desserts--each one of the parfaits. We both really enjoyed our sushi as well as the desserts. (which were the MINI versions by the way. which was plently for us.) Staff was super nice and the restaurant was cute and comfortable.

T B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Very fast service. My husband ordered the 7-piece omakase nigiri. He says: "I was very surprised how quickly they put it together. The pieces of fish were nice and big. Good quality. The whole selection was super tasty." I ordered 3 rolls: Hokkai roll, Scorpion roll, and Spicy salmon roll. I loved them all. The assortment of toppings on the Hokkai roll (flying fish roe, salmon roe, scallops, shiso) created a refreshing variety in every bite. The sweet chili sauce on the Scorpion roll paired surprisingly well with other components of that roll (shrimp tempura and salmon). The spicy salmon roll was satisfyingly spicy. And the avocado was very fresh.

Lauren P.

Yelp
Our group of 6 walked-in for dinner on a Thursday and waited a little over half an hour for a table (The restaurant only has 2-3 tables that can accommodate parties of 5+). I recommend making a reservation beforehand if you can because the restaurant fills up quickly! We were offered two tables near each other that would split our party so we wouldn't have to wait as long but we politely declined. Th sushi bar is closed for seating and not all of the restaurant space is being utilized, which further emphasizes getting a reservation to eat here. Our group ordered several hand rolls, omakase sets, nigiri including sea urchin, karaage, takoyaki, agedashi tofu, calamari, and the Nobu Special IQ roll. The food was tasty and less expensive than Portland sushi. However, the rolls were smaller than I anticipated from the menu's photos. Food came out in a timely manner and the quality of fish was to our liking. Our server was attentive and considerate, even splitting our bill 4 ways without us asking. Overall we had a wonderful time and would come back again!

Victoria K.

Yelp
New to the state and missing my main sushi place back home, I've officially found my new sushi home in Oregon. I live in Hillsboro and the 20-30 min drive to this place is ALWAYS worth it. The staff are super quick and friendly and they all work together, there is never ONE person per table. I love that! The food, where to start! Apps: 1. Assorted Tempura; delicious and crunchy! Its flavorful and the sauce is like the icing on the cake. It's basic and simple. 2. Agedashi Tofu: The Tofu is perfectly fried, lightly enough to the point its melty! The sauce it sits in is delicious and I can drink a whole bowl. 3. Karrage: Chicken is always cooked perfectly. Moist and flavorful. Sushi Rolls: 1. Avocado roll- simple, and for only $2.20- worth every bite. 2. Spicy Salmon Avocado; best basic roll with fish! Absolutely loved 3. Rainbow: the array of fish is perfection and I love the variety 4. Scorpion; I love being able to get this and its a great combo! Gunkhan: 1. Creamy Scallop; yum! must try and I was pleasantly surprised! 2. Krab Salad; I love this because it reminds me of a CA roll without as much rice! 3. Inari; yummy vegetarian option! and its slightly sweet Nigiri: Salmon, Sea Bream, Salmon Toro, Bluefin Toro, Eel, Tamago. ALL fishes whether it is the fresh catch of the day or not; is phenomenal. it is ALWAYS fresh to me. Love coming here just for this! Entrees: 1. Oyako Don- this is like chicken and rice. The chicken is TENDER and melt in your mouth. The egg is perfection and the sauce is delicious. 2. Katsu Don- perfectly fried and delicious! The sauce and rice I could eat every second until every grain is gone! 3. Hot Udon: this is a great addition on a cold, rainy day! Its simple, but the taste is a bit more fishy! Desserts: 1. Japanese Pudding; its a petite dessert that is delicious and not overly sweet 2. Matcha Parfait; i got the mini and it was a perfect portion for one person. My favorite was the red bean on the side! 3. Coffee Parfait: similar to the matcha, but I love a good coffee flavor!

Loren D.

Yelp
No frills location with great sushi. All of your budget goes straight to the best ingredients and preparation.

Yuli L.

Yelp
Went back to get more sushi, tempura and green tea ice cream parfait. All were good! The sushis were very fresh and delicious, the tempura was light and crunchy, and the parfait was satisfying. We really like the corn flakes in the parfait as it created crunchiness with all the creamy deliciousness! I think it's my favorite sushi dinner combination and will come back to get more!

Dennis P.

Yelp
Hidden away in a small strip mall, but worth the search. Two of us got take out rolls. Spicy tuna, yellow tail and salmon. Also got nigiri blue fin. All were great quality, but the blue fin was exceptional. Wasabi was a little weak for my taste. Restaurant appeared less inviting than I would have expected with food being so good. Perhaps the area doesn't demand a nice "dine in" spot. All that said, if you like good sushi, this place is worth a visit .

Darin G.

Yelp
Incredible every time. Amazing cuts, outrageously fresh, consistently wonderful. Easy to make a reservation so don't recommend showing up as a walk-in unless you like to wait (it's still worth it!). Service is exceptional, we're treated like kings. Wish I could give 10 STARS!

Miki M.

Yelp
One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the area! Reasonably priced and great quality food. I ordered a one choice bento ($15) and a negitoro roll ($6) and felt so full afterwards. The bentos are a great deal since you get a lot of food and variety for the price. One thing to note is that they serve their kaisendon with a soy-vinegar sauce instead of soy sauce.

Don W.

Yelp
I write this review with mixed emotions. This place is so good and hidden but I need to give them the deserved kudos. Great service, food and beer selection that keeps us coming back.

Shawn A.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We ate everything without taking any picture lol will definitely come back!

Carol P.

Yelp
Post 2020 and still amazing. Weekday lunch special changes ( follow on Facebook) and so so so good. Especially at the $16 price. Excellent and fresh Japanese sushi. Not a cream cheese sushi place

Scooter L.

Yelp
Excellent Sushi. Great menu with lots of delicious options. The yellow tail roll is our favorite. It's a bit of a drive for us but when we venture out to the the west side to have a dinner and a movie Sushi Kai-ichi is always dinner.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
WOW. This place is a HIDDEN GEM! Stopped in for dinner and I am blown away by how tasty, fresh, and affordable our meal was. Friendly staff as well. Ordered the Dinner Bento with Karaage and Pork Cutlet, Spicy Tuna Roll, Hokkai Roll, Nobu Special IQ Roll, and Scorpion Roll. The dinner bento comes with miso soup, rice, salad, fruit, and sashimi. The pork was so crispy and the tonkatsu sauce complimented both the pork and chicken very well. The fried chicken was also crispy (not as crispy as the pork cutlet), and both meats were not dry. I didn't care much for the salad but the SASHIMI. What caught my eye in the bento was the sashimi/sushi. Not only did it look fresh, it tasted like it too. If you're looking for fresh/quality sushi/sashimi - this place is definitely now at the top of my list in Oregon. The rolls did not disappoint. All of their rolls were great but I highly recommend their Nobu Special IQ Roll, that thing is topped with fatty tuna that they scrape off the fish fresh and it's SO GOOD!!!!! Their spicy Mayo also has a nice kick and flavor. I thought the Hokkai roll was unique with the roe, but a little much for my tastebuds. Again, fish was fresh and made all the difference in each roll! We will be back, they have been added to our local favorites list

Dian K.

Yelp
I've only discovered this place this past year, during the pandemic. I've dined in during reduced capacity where they block off every other table or so. I've also ordered to go multiple times. The sushi here is top-notch and at a good price point. I love sushi, so most likely than not, I would order the 10-piece Nigiri Omakase which is a deal considering they would include the expensive types like toro. And I also order a couple more extra nigiris because I'm a pig. Service has always been very good and considerate (like making sure I knew the omakase already included miso soup when I ordered an extra one). Glad I discovered this place and will continue to patronize it in the future!

Henna H.

Yelp
came in as one of my friends recommended it to me not thinking much of it. This was one of the best sushi i've ever had. very fresh sashimi, great variety and service was great! new fav sushi spot fs.

Lily P.

Yelp
Our favorite sushi in Portland. Reasonable prices, and everything we have tried over the last few years has been delicious. Their lunch bento boxes are wonderful, and the sushi is delicious. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and service is usually very fast.

Mick S.

Yelp
Really great sushi! Tuna Nigiri was awesome as was the Las Vegas roll. Ambiance is simple, and the service team is very nice and friendly. I'd go back.
