"I don’t know about you, but I have burned out on omakase . Sushi Kozy is the first one I’ve visited in at least a year, if not longer, and it got me because it’s not like any other omakase in town. Chef and owner Paul Ko cut his teeth at Uchi for seven years before opening this place, and he serves killer plates of nigiri and sashimi, each carefully cut and prepared. Ross Demers returns to the kitchen as culinary director after the closure of his restaurant Cry Wolf . He handles an otsumami course of drinks and snacks, which, on the night I visited, was composed of dishes of hotatate (scallops) with caviar, wagyu with sesame labneh, tako kushi (fried meat on skewers) with kimchi, and kamo confit (a dish inspired by French duck confit but done in Japanese style) with maple butter. He also oversaw the “land or sea tasting” course, a choice of lobster with corn and chanterelle or a take on kamo (usually a duck soup, but here it was simply duck and a deer heart) with asparagus and fig. I opted for the latter, which was highly memorable: First of all, eating deer heart was an experience, and not one I went into the evening prepared for. Second, these Japanese dishes appearing in an omakase, and prepared by a respected local chef who took the job because he wanted to learn about this style of cuisine, is an unexpected pivot. This was my second visit to Sushi Kozy. The first time, I sat in the dining room, but this time I had the chance to sit at the sushi bar. From start to finish, there wasn't a single dish that disappointed me. Every course was so delicious that it made me smile and nod with every bite. If you're celebrating a special occasion, an anniversary, or simply love amazing Japanese food, Sushi Kozy in Dallas is the place to be. The warm and attentive service made the evening even more memorable. On the drive home, I kept thinking back to how wonderful the whole omakase experience was. If you're looking for the best omakase in Dallas, I highly recommend Sushi Kozy.

After my recent promotion, I wanted to spend meaningful time with the people who supported me along the way, so we visited Sushi Kozy. It was a 17-course omakase, and everything was truly delicious. The chef selects the freshest ingredients of the moment and prepares special dishes on the spot. The course we had was made with items available only this quarter, which made it even more special. Everything was amazing! Once they release new seasonal menus, I definitely want to go back. Dish #3 Sweet with a refreshing twist— it had this slight French vibe to it. Dish #4 A beautiful harmony between soft eel and crunchy baguette. The texture combination felt like music. The cucumber added a fresh touch. The dish on the right had a slightly stronger flavor than the one on the left. For the third set: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Left: “Monaco” — a fish-shaped ice cream–inspired item, but made with shrimp filling. It had a hint of orange zest and aroma that balanced out the heaviness of the shrimp. Right: A Totoro-shaped potato croquette — juicy the moment you bite into it, with a light curry fragrance. The outside was crispy but not overly crunchy. The combination of Jeju pear and madai was a chef’s special and was insanely good. I was amazed at how he balanced the sweetness and brightness of Korean pears with the fish — truly impressive. The kombujime with fresh wasabi was excellent as well. Everyone I went with loved the experience, and choosing Sushi Kozy felt like the perfect decision. I think it’s a great place to celebrate special moments. Sushi Kozy, fighting!

You can tell Chef Ko really knows his fish because every piece of nigiri had its own personality. If this were akin to a play, then the kanpachi with shiso relish and the anago topped with a touch of sansho pepper were the stars of the show. Overall, the pace of the meal was very well balanced and each dish delivered quality. In addition to the food, you can feel the vibe of how personal the experience feels when sitting at the bar. Chef Ko and the staff are welcoming and unpretentious, which makes the whole evening feel relaxed instead of stuffy. You can tell they genuinely care about giving you an amazing experience. I can see why they recently got Michelin recommended - the food is art here. The sushi plates also look super neat and cool 😎

Sushi Kozy – A Cozy, Perfectly Curated Omakase Experience in Dallas Sushi Kozy is a place that feels like Japanese kaiseki — a dining experience that is warm, intimate, and unhurried. From the moment you step in, the cozy interior and attentive service set the stage, but it’s in the food where Sushi Kozy truly shines. This was my second visit — the first time I sat at a table, this time I chose the sushi bar. Sitting at the table had felt like hosting a beautiful, relaxed dinner party with friends at home, but the sushi bar experience brought a whole new level of enjoyment. Listening to the chef explain each dish as it was placed in front of me made the omakase feel even more personal and immersive. If I could sum up this second visit in one sentence, it would be: “A more perfect version of perfection.” Here’s why: 1. Staying True to the Basics The foundation of any omakase is, of course, the sushi. At Sushi Kozy, the shari (rice) is light yet distinct, each grain perfectly defined, providing the ideal canvas for their seasonal, thoughtfully curated nigiri lineup. 2. A Flawless Flow Unlike many other omakase experiences, Sushi Kozy creates a beautiful narrative arc throughout the meal. It begins with a warm chawanmushi and small bites that awaken your palate, builds through the nigiri course, reaches its peak with the main dish, then gently lands with a hand roll and dessert that wrap up the entire experience gracefully. The progression is so seamless that it feels like a story you don’t want to end. 3. Attention to Detail Everything here feels intentional — the interior design, the service, the food. The space is inviting from the moment you enter. The staff anticipates needs I didn’t even know I had, tailoring every interaction to make sure the entire evening is perfect. And the food engages every sense — taste, smell, and sight — turning three hours of dining into three hours of pure happiness. I truly believe Sushi Kozy is on its way to becoming one of Dallas’s best restaurants. I can’t wait to see how it evolves as the seasons change — autumn at Sushi Kozy is already something I’m looking forward to. One more tip: share your drink preferences or mood with the staff — they’ll recommend a pairing that complements the meal beautifully.

My husband and I had an incredible experience at Sushi Kozy. Every course of it's 17 course omakase was meticulously crafted, beautiful, and delicious. The chef clearly put a lot of thought into balancing flavors and textures. There are too many highlights to name, but while the nigiri were excellent, our favorite courses were probably the kaiseke courses that ventured away from the traditional, with my favorite being the hotate with caviar. We also got amazing service from our server Mimi and Bronson from the front of the house who both took their time chatting with us to explain the nuances of the amazing meal we were having. This meal was worth every penny and then some and we cannot wait to come back to Dallas to have it again.

Decadent. Simple. Amazing! This place serves up cozy and classy. 17 course menu, it was pristine and exceeded every expectation. I don’t drink, but my partner raved about The Negroni (a cocktail recommendation from our awesome server, Trevor) Trevor and the sushi chef Jon were on point! We never ever felt rushed, yet the timing was sleek. My partner had met then know it was birthday and that we are new parents so time is precious and that went out of their way to ensure we had a beautiful and memorable night. I am already salivating to go back! 10/10 spot!

Excellent 17 course omakase. In addition to the nigiri, the kitchen items were delicious with beautiful presentation. Great selection of cocktails. Very nice ambiance and interior decor. Great service - chef Jon was great. Parking was easy - there is street parking across the street by the DMA, or garage/valet parking at the JW on the side of the building. 10/10 will be back.
