Very nice 15 course omakase for $100. Everything was quite nice, but you will prob be hungary after. The place is big for omakase so they preslice the fish which was a bit strange, but didnt impact quality or taste. It was also pretty noisy. Was here for my wifes bday, and they did a few special things, which was really nice.

A very unique experience and creative nigiri. We loved everything and can't wait to go back. The sake flight was a great addition to the meal as well. The chef and host made the experience extra special.

Fantastic omakase experience! Meticulously prepared dishes. Great flavor profiles. Amazing, seamless service and hospitality. We went for the 15 piece tasting menu, including all the high-end selections, and left extremely satisfied. Chatting with the other diners at the 9-seat counter, everyone was impressed and we all had a great time. Special shout-out to Cole for being such an amazing host! He really set the tone in the space and treated everyone like long-lost friends. Seriously can't wait to go back again.

I’ve been to all of the sushi lab locations, many times each, and this dinner was one of the TOP meals i’ve had. The chef’s were so nice and I loved the small space with such an intimate counter. The drinks were amazing and they had such an extensive sake menu with good cocktails as well. I loved their diverse menu of nigiri, apps, unique dishes and cooked food too. My favorites were the shrimp skewer, miso sablefish with caviar, the artic char nigiri with crispy potatoes and the kampachi masago app. this is a MUST TRY! 🫶🏼❤️‍🔥

Happy that a friend took me here for a birthday dinner! We had the 15-course omakase, which turned into a few more courses after the “surprise birthday course” and prize for winning the pop-up trivia. The menu is exactly how they described it: creative/modern omakase influenced by Japanese, French, and Italian ingredients. Each of the courses was composed with a specific flavor profile, each distinct from the next - it was clear the ingredients were of high quality. I enjoyed most of the courses - tuna with fried oyster, tuna tartlet, fatty tuna with shaved truffle, scallop, uni and crab, wagyu lollipop. Not so successful for me were the striped jack, the flounder, and the last course (dessert). Service was impeccable - friendly without being over bearing. Nice list of sakes, wines and cocktails. Recommended.

You are guaranteed to have a great time here! The people at Sushi lab are so wonderful and special. The omikase is super affordable compared to most places and yet the quality is AMAZING and everything is so good. If you go on Saturday night, there's unlimited beer and sake and the hostess (who is so awesome!) brings out karaoke for everyone. It's such a great time!

Enjoyed the most interesting Omakase meal here～ The prize quiz segment boosted everyone's happiness to the highest level! It also increased interaction and familiarity among all the diners. My mom actually guessed right the "which fruit seeds are on the outside" haha😆So great👍 The ingredients were very fresh～ The cocktails were refreshing and not too sweet👌 The most memorable course was the flaming sablefish, with all lights turned off, accompanied by a 🔥fire song, elevating the atmosphere to a climax～ In the end, we even sang a birthday song for two guests celebrating their birthdays. Everyone had a very happy evening. Sushi Lab really knows romance and how to run a wonderful restaurant👍 Highly recommended🌟💓💓💓

I celebrated my birthday here and it was awesome! The sushi and omakase were amazing. Every piece of sushi was fresh and delicious, and the chef made each dish look really cool. The omakase experience was great because each dish was a surprise and tasted so good. The best part was how fun the night was, thanks to Co and the staff. Co was super funny and made everyone feel happy. He did quizzes, told jokes, and even had karaoke. It was the best birthday because of how Co and the team treated us. They were really nice and made sure we all had a good time. I loved the food and how fun the night was. I want to say a big thank you to everyone there. If you like good sushi and a fun time, you should definitely go here.

The Sushi Lab was a pretty good omakase experience with solid ingredients for a good price. The interior design was nice and the service was very friendly. The pacing of each item was good and I enjoyed the little game they had for the patrons. Each item was executed very well, but my only comment is that there weren't any stand out speciality dishes that set Sushi Lab apart from the many other omakase spots in the city. I feel like the menu is pretty consistent with most of the other spots. I definitely would love to come back, but I do suggest having one really unique stand out dish.

Today was my first time trying the tuna roll and a taste of miso soup and both were delicious.

Came for restaurant week. Each piece was delicious and you can ask for more wasabi or rice with the pieces. Staff was accommodating and experience was not rushed. Place is small and there is only around 8 seats at the bar but a couple of tables to accommodate bigger parties.

Very good! (Aside from it being unusually warm inside, like uncomfortably stuffy at first but got used to it eventually) I always wanted to try this spot! So I decided to treat my bestie last weekend and it was so fun! Would recommend grabbing a resy and sitting at the sushi bar, always the best seat in the house! We ordered cocktails and they offered to take our jackets. We chose "The Lab Experiment" $100pp - worth it! Per website, "15 signature courses - with some of the finest ingredients like fresh truffle, wagyu, and caviar, The Lab Experiment is a journey for the senses" would recommend if you like omakase! Overall good experience and fun time!

Did the $100 omakase here recently and it was decent. Pieces were creative and intriguing, fish was high quality, but I felt the execution could have been better. Not sure if I would pay $100 for this again, may prefer less pieces and better execution for the same price. The biggest nitpick I had was with temperature. A lot of the pieces were too warm, particularly the rice, which fell apart when I used my hands to grab the nigiri. The uni I felt was also too cold and could have been sitting out at room temperature for a tad bit longer. Overall, a fun experience though!

World class service from Co the host. This is my fifth visit. While I was disheartened that Jacky and Ryan are no longer chef there - the new hires are delivering. We will see what the future brings. Thank you for another special evening.

Went in a group of 3 for a birthday and had the most wonderful time! Our group are no strangers to omakase experiences and by the end of the night, we found Sushi Lab to be one of our top ranking omakase spots. The service was impeccable, and Co (?) went above and beyond in guest interactions. He was friendly, making conversation and humourous comments throughout the evening. The chef was also very funny and interactive with guests, all while paying close care to each piece he crafted. The staff and chef accommodated to my allergy without hesitation or even a reminder, which I very much appreciated. This location is small, but it made our experience all the more intimate and special as every guest marvelled at each piece of sushi together. The chef gave our birthday girl an extra piece of sushi, and placed a candle on the final course of matcha tamago for her as the staff and other guests sang her well wishes. There was a quick round of trivia against other guests, offering everyone a chance at a friendly competition for an extra piece of sushi and a drink gratis. Our group lost the trivia game, but Co still gave us yuzu sake shots on the house. Our favorite pieces of the night included the Akami - Lean Tuna oyster tempura, the Hokkaido uni & snow crab and otoro with truffle. I must also note that Sushi Lab East Village does not skimp on their fancy ingredients like caviar and truffle, and at $100 for the 15-course menu this is truly an unbeatable price in NYC. We left beyond satisfied. I cannot sing enough praises for this place and am still dreaming of this meal days later. We'll be back very soon and a HUGE thank you to the chefs and staff for such a special experience!

I absolutely loved coming hete! We got the 12 piece omakase and everything tasted amazing! The host was incredible and definitely brought the energy and vibes. Co, thanks for making our dining experience a memorable one! Will definitely be coming back!

Good food and a fun time. Our group of 4 did the 8:30 omakase and loved it. The staff are friendly, the food is high quality and very tasty and the atmosphere is fun.

Came by for the $100 omakase. It was good for the price and there were a few creative pieces! In generla every piece was tasty - no big misses. I def recommeng sitting at the counter and not the tables. Only con is it felt very rushed for a omakase. It took about 1 hr 15 min for 15 pieces.

3.5/5 Food 9/10 Vibe/execution: 4/10. The omakase takes way too long between courses, the host/waiter is awkward and creates an unnecessary strict vibe. The lights are too bright feels like an office, table set up is weird. Solid fresh fish but wouldn't go back.

This relatively new omakase spot in the East Village is a true gem! They only serve omakase here with 15 pieces for $100 per person and the selection and preparation creativity of dishes are well-deserving of the price tag! Some of the pieces stood out to me more than others: - Hokkaido uni and crab: the flavor of the uni was superb; I still remember the taste. The piece was topped with caviar and gold flakes, which was a nice touch - Otoro - fatty tuna: this version of the fatty tuna was blowtorched. I love otoro prepared in any way and was no less satisfied with this preparation - Hotate - sea scallop: extremely creamy and was complemented with a large serving of truffle on top - Akami - lean tuna: I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this tuna with the tempura oyster since lean tuna is not usually my favorite, but here we are - Arctic char: loved the smooth texture of the fish, which contrasted nicely with the crispy shredded potato - Kanpachi -ankimo: amberjack stuffed with the monkfish liver was delicious, but that goma ponzu sauce was truly amazing and elevated the dish, which came as 2 pieces They get all their fish from Japan with the exception of tuna, which they get from off the coast of Spain, given the high quality from there. The chefs and the host, Co, were all so hospitable and made everyone feel welcome. Everyone got a free Yuzu shot, which we took with the chefs, to celebrate one of the diner's birthdays. It was such a simple and nice gesture. Service was 10/10 and we did not feel rushed at any point during our 1.5 hour dining experience. The ambiance is so chill and the few seats available made for an intimate experience, though I could have done without modern US pop playing in the background.

Came here with my hobby and besties. Every piece is unique, and chef kiss . For the quality of the omakase, the pricing is decent. The interior design and the atmosphere were neat and calm. Not to mention, their mocktail and service are really good. I highly recommend this place.

Delicious omakase spot in the East Village!! 15 pieces for $100 per person. Sushi is thoughtfully prepared and creatively plated. Some of my favorites were Otoro (fatty tuna), Hotate (sea scallop), Akami (lean tuna) and wagu!! Some other pieces that I don't remember the names to pet caviar, and gold flakes added to it, which was such a nice touch. The service was absolutely amazing. We sat by the bar and the waiter kept coming over with good conversation, jokes, and Saki shots on the house. The ambience was fun and upbeat. In the middle of our seating, they had all diners participate in a fun trivia game which we failed miserably at, but the waiter wrote us a note that he loved us the best, and that made our night so special. Would highly recommend for delicious sushi and a super fun night. P.S sit at the bar!!!

Came here for the 15 course omakase and was blown away. We have done a similar omakase course at a location in Boston that was 3x the price and tasted just about the same. There is no doubt that you are getting EXCELLENT quality - especially at this price point. The seating is first come first serve and only 9 people or so get to sit at the sushi bar and watch, so if that's important to you I'd get there a little early. The service was super fun - there was impromptu karaoke and trivia for prizes (1st place got an extra piece of sushi, 2nd a shot, and I think they gave everyone else a shot out of pity as well)

Me and my bff stopped by after work to try their omakase lab experiment at $100pp. It was 15 courses and being a light rate, it was filling. For average omakasers, I would say you might have to order more al carte. My favorite was Hokkaido uni &crab and the artic Char. I felt that a bunch of the courses was too heavily adjusted that didn't let the fish shine. I do understand that people like truffle etc but the way the Otoro was showcased- a little sad. Don't get me wrong, it was good but I do like to enjoy the nature of the fish and have other elements accentuate the flavors. Also, not sure if it's me but the pieces are smaller than your typical omakase. It would've been 5 stars if it didn't fall short in one area. I think we got an inexperienced chef so the nirgiri was not masterly assembled and did fall apart for a few of them. It made those bites lacking if you know what I mean. Lastly, I do have to do a shout out to Co. Amazing customer experience because of him. He made us feel like regulars even when it's our first time. Even got free yuzu shot at the end. Definitely would be back and hopefully get the more experienced chef.

More of a 3.5. I was very excited to try this spot, but it did not meet my expectations. There are very innovative pieces and the taste of every piece is good - in fact I would say the scallop is one of the best omakase scallop pieces I have had. The host was also great and very welcoming. However, each piece is very very small. I had the $100 15 piece lab experiment but I was still hungry afterwards. The fish was also torn for a few pieces I had. The chefs do not speak with you other than telling you what piece the fish is. However, even that is hard to hear because when you are in the middle of eating one piece, they are giving you another piece already so it is hard to even process the piece you are eating. The chefs are always making the next next piece so you can't really see how they are making the next piece you are about to eat - it feels like some of the experience was lost. Hopefully the experience has improved now since it has been weeks since I have gone. Again, the food was very tasty, but I was just disappointed with the overall experience.

A great omakase deal in the city! We got 10 pieces plus one handroll for $65. Each piece was so artfully crafted and were made with such fresh, delectable ingredients. The chefs were so kind and inviting, and I loved hearing about each piece from them. The host also checked up on us often and refilled water at a nice pace. Each piece was so exquisite and different. I feel like sushi can sometimes blend together and it's hard to tell the different between various rolls, but each piece here was a completely different experience. So many wonderful textures and flavors. The fish was so fresh it basically melted in my mouth. I left feeling satisfied, but not quite full, but that's what I can expect from an eleven piece meal.

I first tried the chef selection omakase ($65) at Sushi Lab a couple months ago but I came back again to try the lab experiment omakase ($100) a couple weeks ago and had such an enjoyable time! Every item in this set was unique and delicious (I really could not pick a favorite!). Seriously this omakase set includes everything you could want (including toro, scallop, uni, caviar), and our chef even added more gold flakes to my friend's Hokkaido uni & crab roll when she jokingly noted that hers had only 1 gold flake on it haha. The tamago at the end was also so different from what I expected - it is not like the typical tamago nigiri you get at sushi restaurants and actually almost tasted like and had the texture of a cake! Our server Co also went above & beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time - we all got complimentary yuzu cocktail shots on the house & it was such a vibe when the whole restaurant cheers-ed together! If you check in on Yelp, you also get a free glass of sake :) Overall, Sushi Lab takes a modern twist on the omakase experience but they pull it off well, and even though omakase is not a regularly affordable meal for me, I would definitely love to come back!

This is an example of fusion done really well. Usually I prefer more traditional omakases, but I was super impressed by the innovative pieces here at this new Sushi Lab location in East Village. First things first: Get the $100 Lab Experiment option. Trust me. You won't regret it. Not only are there more courses, but overall many of the pieces are more unique and tasty (I could tell by the guests sitting by us who ordered the $65 option staring longingly at some of our courses ). I particularly LOVED the akami with tempura oyster - it was such a delightful and perfect mashup of flavor and textures. Other more decadent pieces like uni crab and otoro with shaved truffle were of course mouthwatering as well. I was quite full after the 15 courses. Pacing was on the faster side, but I didn't feel rushed. Finally, the service here definitely deserves a shoutout. Everyone from the chefs to the waiters were super thoughtful and fun. They definitely made our omakase extra awesome!!!

First time here and honestly I think it's pretty overhyped. Compared to many omakases in East Village in the same price bracket the nigiri (and the miso soup) were simply not up to par. Disappointing to spend ~$350 for two people (with sake) and not enjoy the meal. The otoro and the arctic char were my favorite bites but other than that the Wagyu lollipop was a bit too chewy, the miso soup was bland, and more generally the nigiri just weren't as melt in your mouth as they should be at this price point. I will say the service was all around pretty great - the chefs were so friendly and the waiter was very energetic and nice. All in all - won't be back but hope others have a better experience here.

Back again -- this time with a party of 6! Sushi Lab East Village still has the same great ambience and atmosphere as the first time I came here, courtesy of Co and chef Jacky's wonderful service! the food is just as good if not better, and we actually came on a day where there was a new menu being tested (it was called a Lab Experiment like please is that not the cutest thing ever) and while I forgot to get pics of the beginning pieces (too focused on eating heh) I can say that this menu definitely has my pick for sure I look forward to the next time I come back!

Went to celebrate a birthday. Great and fresh for the price. The manager makes the entire experience fun and engaging. Would definitely return.

Booked last minute 430 omakase for 2. This newish branch of Sushi Lab from the creators of original one in the sanctuary hotel did not disappoint. Opted for the 10 piece $65 menu and regretted not getting the $100 13 piece one which was grander and included A5 wagyu and a king prawns. The hakate scallop, sweet ebi prawns and freshwater uni were excellent. Overall was a great way to spend late afternoon at the sushi counter. They accommodated shellfish allergy substituting more cuts of fish. One thing I wasn't as thrilled about was sushi chefs here weren't particularly chatty during service. Also a few pieces that were torched gave off the butane aftertaste.

Came here tonight for their Valentine's Day special (free champagne included) and my second time here and it was amazinggggg! First time was awesome but tonight was extraaaa amazing! The host Co and our chefs Jackie and Gary made our night extra fun and special! Jade made yummy drink! Vday omakase was sooooo delicious and fresh! We played a little valentine game and everyone won something (soda, hugs, hand rolls, yuzu sake bombs). Everything was so amazing up until dessert haha. They need to up their game on their dessert. Overall, it is still the best omakase I've had and will be coming back again for sure!

I arrived early for our reservation. The waiter asked me to wait outside and come back later. Anyways, they allowed me to sit in to wait since it was so hot outside. The servers were nice. The food and drink were just fine. They had a lot of variety, but the quality of fish could be better. The game night was remarkable with trivia.

This place is fantastic! The service is spectacular and the sushi chef talked us through each course of their special Christmas omakase. I delighted in every bite. The way that they pair together flavors is intriguing and delicious. Very creative combinations (one course used a tempura oyster in place of the rice in the nigiri!) Very flavorful. Fresh ingredients. Great sake selection. We will definitely be back.

Sushi Lab in all it's iterations is always a special dining experience and always one of my fave omakase experiences, but this particular location was created as a love letter to Sushi Lab aficionados where the owners can bring back favorite dishes of sushi lab menus past. This space is smaller than most of their outposts, so book early and plan on a spectacular dining experience with expert chefs. The level of service here is superb and my one regret was that I was too full to be here when I went. I'll be back :)

Food : High quality fish items from :Shima Aji, arctic Char , Kanpachi, Hotate, Kinmedai , Hokkaido Uni and crab , Engawa, , Anago to Otoro super premium sake choices from : Junmai Daiginjo(I had Dassai 23 - extremely smooth and light, has fruity and confectionary aromas) , Junmai Ginjo , Junmai, Nigori, to sweet sake . Services: Professional , knowledgeable, and talented chef Jacky with artistic and creative sushi presentation; and , a super friendly, and attentive host Co . Ambience: modern , bright , clean with a nice sushi counter Highly recommended!

We did the lab experiment for $100 per person and ordered a few more pieces. Great selections prepared by the chef. The A5 wagyu lollipops were so yummy and I am usually not a fan of crispy rice but this was amazing! Everything was very fresh and so beautifully presented. I also loves the uni with caviar and the little gold flakes makes it look so fancy.

I really can't rave about this place enough. I had never had omakase, though I am a sushi lover, so I wanted to have a good introduction to it without feeling overwhelmed. This experience set the bar so high. From the time we were welcomed inside, and the experience began it was so light and fun. Our chef was very nice, he wasn't overly talkative but considering we were one of the later groups I didn't mind at all, and the music was playing, so it was such a nice environment. Shoutout to the host he was so fun, very attentive, and answered any and all questions. Next time I would love to try whatever menu was a step up! This is a great place to checkout!

Im an avid sushi lover and have had the freshest, softest, and juiciest sushi in Japan. Eating at sushi lab immediately reminded me of the high quality sushi I had in Japan. I really love the ambiance in sushi lab -- it's intimidate, very clean, and the service is exceptional. The staff not only care about serving the best quality, look, and freshness of their food, but they also make sure to implement that in the service. They make you feel so welcome and seem genuinely happy to serve you the best. I really enjoyed our server Co, he was very educational about the menu and answered all of our questions effectively and offered the top recommendations. It was clear he was very knowledgeable about everything at Sushi lab and constantly made sure no glass was empty, and there were no used plates left in our section. Additionally, the owner Jeremy, was so welcoming to us and kind, I can tell it trickles down to the staff. I love to see that. My favorite was the Truffle Toro and Japanese founder Sashimi, OH MY GOD it was full of flavor and sooooo buttery. I mean all of the sushi is, but these really stood out to me personally. Also it's important to note, that I am on a Keto diet. The chefs happily accommodated my diet and made sure to serve me Sashimi, rather than sushi with rice. My partner had the regular style (sushi with rice), and it's nice to see we can both enjoy something we really love while sticking to the diet we want. Thank you for an amazing experience, I am DEFINITELY coming back!!!

The reviews are true, it really is that good here :) The pieces are unique, and tastes so fresh. I loved the ones that had truffle on them. The customer service was amazing, since the restaurant is super small and seats less than 20 people, they always pay attention to you and come by to chat. On weekend nights they play a game with all the guests, and if you answer three questions correctly you get a free shot of sake, and later there's also karaoke it was so fun! It was classy but fun, and they really feed off your energy there!

Wasn't sure what to expect from Sushi Lab EV given all the hype for their other location, but this was one of my favorite omakase experiences in a while. The dishes were truly unique, creative, and absolutely delicious making the upgrade to the $100/15 course option well worth it. They change their menu seasonally, so I will definitely be back come Fall.

I've been here twice, first ordering the Chef's Selection and then the Lab Experiment. They're both great, although I'd recommend living a little and spending $31 extra for the Lab Experiment (you've already committed to spending a lot on omakase). First, the food: it's really good, especially for the price. Could you find a better omakase in Manhattan? Sure, but it'll probably be double the price. The courses here are inventive, and the fish is clearly fresh and of high quality. I especially enjoyed their dishes with uni or Japanese scallops. The service: very attentive, never felt lacking. My water was consistently refilled, and we were checked in with regularly. Again, I'd expect a higher price point given the quality of service. The atmosphere: pretty good, but maybe a tad sterile. Warmer lighting would be nice.

Soooo good. Went to the one near Time Square before COVID. This one is just as fantastic. Got the Lab Experiment Omakase. This is actually a good value. I highly recommend this place. My favorite sushi in New York. They don't have the Yuzu cocktail anymore. Please bring that back!

I found out about sushi lab through an Instagram reel and it lives up to the hype. The location is small, definitely try to snag a seat at the bar. It is recommended to get a reservation as they can't guarantee you a table otherwise. It's worth it to get 15 courses of omakase for $100. They are able to accommodate your courses based on any allergies. The staff are lovely and explained every dish and had no issues when we asked questions/requests. The cocktails and sake flights are lovely and pair nicely with the meal. Next time, I would love to try more rolls. Only downside is that this location didn't have dessert.
