Sushi Leblon

"This Japanese restaurant is a firm favourite with Rio’s paparazzi, thanks to its high-quality food, pleasant atmosphere and the numerous celebrities milling around. The highly popular sushi bar is the ideal place for tasting the magnificent white fish ussuzukuri (ultra-fine slices of sandperch, marinated in sake and lemon and scented with truffle oil) or the delicious tuna with a sesame crust and citrus sauce. Book a table if you prefer not to wait." - Michelin Inspector

We sat at the bar because we did not make a reservation and there was a 40 minute + wait for a table of 2. We went on a Saturday night and decided to just wing it so this makes sense seeing as though the restaurant is very popular and received a Michelin star last year (2024). We really enjoyed the food, service and ambiance here. I liked being about to watch the sushi chefs preparing everything! They were very talented and incredibly efficient, truly a special experience. We tried an array of different appetizers and rolls, all of which were so good! I even tried the “Canan” shot which is considered a “welcoming” to Brazil that is a combination of 3 different kinds of Cachącas from around Brazil. Would definitely recommend making reservations but also worth waiting for as well! Service was good, too, despite a serious language barrier. (They will provide you with a QR code to access an English menu)

Amazing sushi place! Love the variety of fish and surprising, delicious sushi combinations. Cool ambiance and great service. Thought the price was very fair too for good quality.

If you're looking for an unforgettable Japanese dining experience in Rio de Janeiro, this restaurant in Leblon is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with impeccable customer service—attentive, friendly, and always ready to make great recommendations. The menu offers an incredible variety of dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and an artistic touch. Whether you’re a fan of sashimi, sushi, or creative fusion dishes, there’s something to surprise and delight every palate. But the absolute standout is Atum Fresco, Ovas Negras e Gema de Ovo Caipira—a masterpiece! The combination of the rich, buttery fresh tuna with the luxurious black roe and creamy farm egg yolk creates a perfect harmony of flavors. It’s a must-try that will leave you craving more. Every visit is a top-tier gastronomic experience, making this spot my go-to for Japanese cuisine in Rio. Highly recommend!

The initial product was good quality and fresh but the execution of sushi and rolls was not good! It wasn’t tasty at all. Very disappointed with this place because it was recommended everywhere but it didn’t live up to expectations unfortunately.

Google
I was really looking forward to the sushi here, but the experience fell a bit short. While the quality and service were decent, they didn’t quite match the price point. Overall, it felt a little overhyped for what it was.”

Google
Nice but not great! I have been there a few times before in the past years but had the impression the quality of the sushi/sashimi is not the same; the fish not as firm, the cut not as thick, the flavor not as fresh. In addition, it upsets me the fact that despite the plethora of sakes available, the only soy sauce available is "Light",which is not as rich as the regular one.

Google
The sushi is amazing, I really recommend. It's pricey but worth it for a night. We got the "basic for 2" and the salmon carpaccio with truffle oil. It was really good and quite big. The service was really average - they were slow to take our order and forgot drinks. The customers around us were leaving dishes half full which made me a bit sad, knowing the quality and the price of this food.

Google
I came here because I was told it was the best sushi place in town. I went in the day as it was pretty quiet and easy to get a table. The evening before was impossible. They run a first come first serve system as far as I understand. I had the shrimp tempura for starters. This was very nice though the dip was lacking any serious heat. For mains I had salmon skin special - this was pretty crunchy and flavoursome. As expected. I also ordered the spicy shrimp. Initially this came out with avocado that was not ripe. It was tough and bland. The sauce again is not spicy at all. I sent it back. They replaced it. This took over 10 mins to come back as they served other customers first. The replacement was better. Overall decent. But have had better sushi in Rio. The other thing was there was no consistent waiter. The one who initially served me was pleasant. The one who brought the replacement strolled towards me like I was a troublesome customer and made no apology. The waiters were generally inattentive.

Yelp
If you're in Rio and want sushi - you have to try Sushi Leblon. It's always been super trendy and it's still pretty lively. The restaurant was packed when we arrived for dinner. The service was on point and quick. The food didn't disappoint! I would go back just to people watch and have their mushroom dish!

Yelp
This restaurant is ok for Brazil. Especially for Rio. Maybe Sao Paulo would have better quality and authenticity. I was born in Rio and used to go there sometimes because it's one of the best in Rio. However it's overpriced and it is not the best in Rio. I am very picky when it comes to sushi because I have lived in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, for 6 years. When in Rio try other type of food. Go to Botequim food and try pastel and Caipirinha. Don't bother eating Japanese food there.

Yelp
Very good sushi, deserts, and drinks. Get the ginger mango martini and the cheese ice cream.

Yelp
Only have positive things to say about this place ! Food was fresh and tasteful. Nice menu, available in both Portuguese and English. Drinks were so well made and a nice selection of cocktails. Service was great, very polite staff. Will come back given the opportunity to try other options on the menu. Nice place to come with large parties,Very satisfied with my visit.

Yelp
Ambiance was great here. We almost felt like we were back home somewhere in Atlanta eating sushi. Great service and food display was great. Sushi grade was ok, not the best, we can get better sushi in Atlanta. For Brazil, it's perfect. Our favorite dish was the shiitake mushrooms , that's a 5.5 star. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. If you're looking for a change while visiting brazil, this is a great try. It's located in leblon - a more sophisticated area of Brazil. Quieter and cleaner neighborhood along the beach.

Yelp
It's a legit good sushi restaurant in RJ, where there is almost no good sushi. Vibe and service are great. It's not world class, but there isn't one afaik in RJ, so this will have to do. I eat sushi a lot more in the USA when I'm there but nice to have somewhere to get a good sushi meal when I'm RJ.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place as it is legendary and the first sushi restaurant in Rio. I was a bit disappointed because you are somewhat limited to either order a boat with a wide variety of sushi and sashimi but some a bit too exotic for me, or you get a boat that is huge but mostly limited to tuna and salmon. Would be nice if they offered a boat that is salmon or tuna focused but also had shrimp, snapper, seabass, crab, etc. The interior is high end and modern, service was OK. I recommend a reservation as the wait can be long.

Yelp
This place was incredible and so reasonably priced (especially by NYC standards) for the sushi, the bottle of sake was more normal in terms of what we'd expect for the price. We came here with no reservation right when the restaurant opened and were promptly seated at the sushi bar. By the time we were wrapping up our meal the place was packed. Everything we ordered was amazing, and the best pieces were the ones that were off menu. Since we were sitting at the bar, we kept seeing the chef make these pieces of sushi we didn't recognize from the menu and so we'd ask our server who would let us know what it was, and we'd order them that way. I'd suggest asking your server for recommendations for what some of their popular off menu items are, the ones that comes to mind that was to die for was a charred piece, I believe it was salmon or toro and the salmon and truffle/caviar. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in Rio.

Yelp
Decent sushi and some interesting options such as the batera de Black cod. The quality of the sushi is good but not quite the same quality as other major cities. One star removed because the waiter charged us a 15% tip instead of the standard 10%

Yelp
Sushi you say? I ordered the sushi deluxe and was pleasantly surprised with how fresh the food was! The ambiance was a little dark but very romantic. I recommend getting the watercress gin and tonic ... they're highly addicting!!!

Yelp
Yesterday wife and I went to this place for dinner. However, the luck was not on our side as we had one of the worst downpour in Rio during the night. Even though we took a cab there, both of us were completed soaked by the time we entered the door. The great service started by the waiter offering us blanket so that we would be shivering throughout the meal, but it didn't end there and I will get into that later. Because we were so wet and cold, we started our meal with some miso soups and hot green teas. Both were great. From other people's review, we really wanted to try their cocktails but because of the circumstances, we didn't really feel like it so we ordered the sushi combination for two. The food came rather timely as there weren't as many guests due to the weather. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the sushi and sashimi. The fish were very fresh and we loved the sushi with sour cream. I would highly recommend the combination if you are two people. We capped off the night with some desert (seasonal fruits) as ice creams didn't appeal to us particularly. We were informed the fruit choice was pineapple and it was garnished with small pieces of lime peels which made it very tasty. After that, we decided to call the night and just go back to our hotel however, the rain kept on pouring and Uber was just not available for some reason. The staff offered to call a cab for us, however, there aren't many cabs either. But they were trying their best. After about 20-30 mins, we were finally on our way. Overall, the food was great. Coming from a place like Toronto, we had our fair share of great sushi's but I have to say the quality of sushi here is just as good as anywhere. The price is a bit high but given the quantity, we think it is fairly reasonable. In terms of the service, it was even better. I would give 10 star for the service if possible. I am sure our experience would have been even better if we were dry and not freezing, but C'est la vie (that is life). Weather is something you just cannot control.

Yelp
Service is great, LUIS was our waiter. If you have a Group oF 6 Or less try to sit at the sushi bar. Its well worth it. The sushi chefs are very proud of their work and poke fun at each other to see who is the best. We hAd the vierAs grehalda- app- very good. Its grilled scallop with papaya sauce and black roe in red wine. And meal- combo tuna Sal. 8 sushis and 10++sashimis, ++. This id not the tradicional Stuff but They have delicious For grois rolls our Neighbor had and They were great and the grilled octopus cubes were amazing. Also they give you free flat filtered water. And try the local sake. Don't buy imported it's just as good as the Japanese

Yelp
I am from Miami and have had a lot of sushi. The Harumaki was good, it tasted like a rangoon but there was not much shrimp inside. I was rushed to order and I spent 330 reais and I am leaving hungry looking for something else to eat.

Yelp
In my humble opinion is the best Japanese restaurant in rio! Not only by its atmosphere and flawless service but by their constant research in bringing new flavors to customers! Best thing is not to order by the menu and let the maître d bring you their best! Enjoy!

Suprio C.

Yelp
When I first went in December 2021, the sushi and the service were impeccable. I told all my friends to go. I went back in July 2022, and the place has gone down hill. The sushi looks sloppy, like it's mass produced, and no one made me feel welcome. I was alone. The system of all servers serving all tables does NOT work. None of the servers care about making the dining experience pleasurable and memorable. It is just like a factory, looking to move people in and out to make more money for the restaurant.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here on our 2nd night in Rio. Sushi Leblon came heavily recommended by friends, colleagues and friends of friends. We tried to get seated the night before but were told that the wait was 2 hours+. Determined to dine here on the 2nd night, we planned for a two hour wait and decided to grab drinks at the various bars and restaurants along R. Dias Ferreira, on which Sushi Leblon is located. It was a good strategy as we enjoyed a few glasses of wine before checking back in with the host after 1 hour 20 minutes. We only wait another 10 min before getting seated at the bar. The atmosphere inside was pretty fresh. Chill music, good looking people, and a nice sushi bar set up with the various cuts of fish on display. There's a fish tank at one end that even has a few clown fish - most popularly portrayed by Nemo in Finding Nemo. My wife and I ordered a bottle of Chilean white along with a sushi and sashimi plate, "Combination Leblon". There were cuts of tuna, salmon, and red snapper in various formats such as nigiri, sashimi, and roll based. Overall, it tasted great. Portion-wise, it was probably a bit much for two people but we went to town nevertheless and skipped dessert. I don't have a good barometer for the local currency to understand whether it was good value, but by applying a strong USD to BRL exchange rate, the value was tremendous for those who habitually pay for such meals in the US.

Yelp
The food is not so great, the service is super bad. Do not waste your time, there are many other options in Rio for you to enjoy sushi. Stay away.

Yelp
Always consistent, always high quality and always expensive. We stopped here for an early dinner and it was quite popular even this early. I tried the organic unsweetened grape juice, which was still quite sweet and full of flavor. They poured it over ice in a glass from a large bottle. I also had the cold tea, strawberry and kiwi flavor, though I didn't taste those specific fruits it was still tasty. The best drink was probably the Wäls 42, which is a Belgium saison style but rich with flavor including coffee notes, which was delicious. For appetizer, I started with an unagi temaki (eel) which was delicious. The tuna tartar with roe, raw egg and wasabi was underwhelming and a bit disappointing. The black roe didn't have much flavor to it. Then we had the chef special combo Rio which came with 23 pieces, 15 sashimi slices (salmon, tuna, white fish 5 each), and pairs of quail egg, butter white fish, salmon with quinoa crunch, spicy tuna on roasted rice. The best pieces of sashimi was the salmon, the others weren't that impressive. The other sushi were all good. In fact the quail egg with truffle oil and butterfish were so good we order another set of just those. Both the toasted rice and quinoa crunch were interesting and tasty. For dessert we had to try the brigadero with sweet tempura and a shot of sake. The brigadero was more like a cake and was beautifully presented.

Yelp
This place is GREAT! Need to get there early for dinner or go for lunch, you will not find a table if you go late. Service is excellent and everything on the menu is at its finest. Tuba sashimi was out of this world. For desert try the matcha cake, OMG, divine. Order everything! Ohh and a shot of espresso comes with a chocolate truffle.

Yelp
This place definitely serves some of the freshest fish. Really enjoyed this place while I was on vacation in Rio.

Yelp
Our AirBnB host recommended this place and we are thankful for it. Leblon Sushi is worth every penny, even if its a little bit pricier than some of the other Japanese joints in the area. Service, albeit a bit slow, was good. Our server was great at recommending dishes and was very attentive. However the food just took FOREVER to come, even when the place was relatively empty. The food was excellent, fresh, prepared with care. I would sugegst going for the sushi combos and the temakis... we ordered a lot of food. The flavor of every piece of sushi and roll was excellent.. We had some beers, some wine and finished with some tea. One of the best meals in Leblon.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and amazing and quality sushi... You may have to wait a bit but totally worth it!!! Bit pricey.... But worth it!

Yelp
This place was very nice. We sat at the bar, and were able to see how cleanly and neatly the chefs work. The sushi was good, but one of the most notable menu items were the desserts. Based on my previous experience with Japanese restaurants all over the world, I found that Sushi Leblon successfully managed to mix traditional Japanese Cuisine elements with local (in this case Brazilian) desserts, and the results are GREAT! I would go there just to have dessert. :) Thinks to improve: the service was very slow. Even while sitting at the Sushi Bar, we had to wait for a long time to order our dishes, drinks, and even the check.

Yelp
Don't waste your time nor your money. This restaurant has lost all of its original charm. Food and service was really bad.
google avatar

Luisa S.

Yelp
Restaurant is small so suggested to go a little earlier than normal to eat as you may have to wait for a table or the counter. You can't reserve here. Staff aren't overly friendly and its a little slow to be served but the food is good (butterfish & quail egg sushi is amazing!) and so is the selection. Many meat dishes for those in a party who aren't super keen in sushi either. Pretty casual attire. This particular place has sister restaurants Zuka (steak) & Bridits (Brazilian) opposite.. All look great!
google avatar

Carlton G.

Yelp
Great sushi, laid back metro chic vibe. They even have a menu in English. Our waiter was willing to take our group picture for dinner too. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Went here on a Thursday night around 21h on recommendation of a friend. The place was packed. We had to wait outside untill there was a table available, which took about one hour. Luckily we could order a cocktail and have it while waiting. When we got in, there was a clubbish feel to the restaurant. Music was playing, the rumour of people having a nice time and everybody was dressed up (besides us)! There supposed to come a lot of Brazilian stars, what we didn't know. We got seated at the bar next to a nice Brazilian couple who started conversation. The sushi isn't very special and I wonder if it's very fresh at all, but it was okay. The wine tasted like regular wine. The cocktails were good and the staff was nice. Go here for the ambiance, not for the food.
google avatar

Luana P.

Yelp
How I used to love this place. This time very disappointing . The sushi was so average , and one of them was not edible. The quail egg nigiri with truffle and sea salt still amazing but the tuna tataki and anything with tuna or white fish was not good. We also ordered a eel nigiri which was good and you can mess up edamame. They also made a maki wrapped in tuna and topped with quail egg which was ok. The salmon ceviche was drowned in truffle oil , and I love truffle oil but I couldn't eat after few bites. They used to be the best, most innovative sushi I ever eaten. I really hope they come back to old days.
google avatar

Yelp
As a sushi lover that has frequented Jiro sushi in Tokyo or Sushi Yasuda in NYC, I felt terribly annoyed with the quality of the sushi that you are paying at sushi leblon. The quality sushi can be best characterized as the cheap sushi boat found in $10 all-you-can-eat buffet in the usa. However the price that you are paying here is astronomical. Understood that sushi leblon is the place to see and be seen; however if you are looking for great quality food at trendy ambience, you might as well head to Gurume (5-10 min cab ride from Sushi Leblon) - that are much trendier and cost 10x less.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
The comments are true!!! We ordered two Makis , they forgot our appetizers and our drinks. I can honestly say that the ONLY thing I enjoyed were the chips!!! This restaurant SUCKS!!! It is NOT WORTH IT!!!! We paid and left to Brigite's across the street .... it was WAY BETTER!!!
google avatar

Brad G.

Yelp
Food here was excellent but the most expensive meal we had while in Rio de Janeiro. Ordered the king crab, a couple rolls and scallops. Again, everything was fantastic but it was just a little more expensive than we were used to spending while in Rio.
google avatar

Marc D.

Yelp
The head sushi chef Luis was touching fish, then his iPhone, then more fish--all without washing his hands. Disgusting. Needless to say, we were turned off and didn't stay for dessert. Food was average at best (have had better takeout in NYC). Hostess was pretty rude. Felt like we were cattle just herded through the crappy experience. Would avoid at all costs if you can. Not worth it. You're much better off going to Zaza Bistro Tropical for a second night rather than try this place once.
google avatar

mike b.

Yelp
It's not terrible and especially with the real now around 4 to 1 it's not even expensive anymore, but rather average priced. My wife and I hit it up tonight for her bday and the total bill came to $75 (US) which is very reasonable compared to a big city in the US. The problem is that it's just not that good. Would it kill them to remodel the place? I first came here in 2002 and it has not changed at all and that's not a good thing. Service on this night was pretty bad as we waited almost 40 min between our appetizer and our sushi. Worst part about this is I can't even recommend a better place. If you are hankering for some sushi in this town my advice is just don't.
google avatar

Rob C.

Yelp
the most famous/talked about sushi place in Rio. So I figured I'd try it out. here you can see them slice the fish indiscriminately as opposed to the care taken at a japanese place. it's the kind of place they want to dredge everything in caviar, truffle oil, and quail egg or foie. ordered toro tartare, butterfish sushi, sea urchin ceviche (too much soy!) spicy tuna maki, a few others. the fish was fresh, so I recommend eating sashimi here. sho ga was dried and pathetic representation. anyway it is a hip place and the high end society eat here.
google avatar

Reese J.

Yelp
I've heard mixed reviews from friends that have eaten here, but I must say, Sushi Leblon lived up to my high expectations. The biggest downside is the price, but if you are willing to fork over some cash, you will surely leave happy. What I like best about this particular sushi place is that they are willing to try out new ideas without lowering the quality of traditional dishes. We had quite a long meal here and we didn't try a single item that wasn't delicious. I have full trust that I could pick anything off the menu and it would be good. Service was good as well. We walked in on a holiday weeknight and had no problem finding a table for two. Our waiter always seemed to be around and was quick to help us out with any questions or to refill my glass of sake. The best dish of the night in my opinion was the green tea cake with maracujá reduction and almond paste. So many contrasting flavored but they all mixed together for a perfect finish to a great meal. On the bright side for those that don't want to pay as much, Togu and Mok are just down the street and provide slightly more affordable, but still high quality sushi.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
Probably the best in Rio, but would be a solid "B" in New York, LA, San Diego, of SF. Not a great selection of fish, which is probably the foremost problem. Plus I agree with the previous reviewer who said they drench the fish in too many sauces. Fun place though.....
google avatar

Fabrizia R.

Yelp
Amazing, the best sushi I had in my life! The fish just melts in your mouth, everything is delicious. The salmon with quinoa is the best, but all I tried was amazing The place is small so expect some queue at night. I was there for lunch and we didn't have to wait but was on NYE. In the night I have seen queues outside. The service is good and prompt, not the usual Brazilian slow and relaxed service I have experienced in my trip (i.e. 1 hour to get the food, 45 min to get the bill, etc.) Worth a trip if you are in Rio

Yelp
Huge line out front, however 2 seats available at the bar so we walked right in. I was told by locals that apparently they prefer tourists as we tip more so apparently "we" wait a little bit less. Cool I guess! The atmosphere here is pure class, although bit of a homogenized crowd. I'm used to more diversity in my nightlife but when in Rome..... The bar is actually great to sit at so you can watch the chefs at work. Very attentive and top notch which is obvious. The food here is comparable to any top level sushi place in other international cities and very good. Me and a friend had the tuna sampler which was outstanding! The only reason I docked points was at the end my friend ordered a maki roll to finish off his meal and we waited about 30 minutes before realizing they didn't even place the order and just got our check and left. We noticed this has been happening everywhere and simply forgetting an order and watching us sit there on our smartphones waiting for food to come and not checking on us was inexcusable after the hefty price tag and the class of restaurant this purports itself to be in. Without that blemish at the end however, top class sushi in a top class environment.
google avatar

Peter H.

Yelp
We got in around 6.30 pm, pretty empty which was good, we got to choose where we wanted to sit and we decided to sit at the bar. We noticed that there was little fruit flies buzzing around the food, didn't look to hygienic, also noticed that one of the sous chefs was looking through his phone, and then he hadn't washed his hands after using it. Another no no. We ordered the super combo dish R$199. It consisted of 5 different sashimi and 6-7 different rolls, from salmon, prawns, eel, crab. The service was not that great... Pretty laid back... There was only one waiter who could speak English fluently and another bits and pieces. Food was great just a downer for hygiene issues n service. 3.5/5

Yelp
Ate here 4 years ago on a trip to Rio and then came back again last week. A small restsursnt that gets very crowded. Place attracts a very hip and attractive crowd. The sushi is great, and the service was excellent, especially considering I dont speak portugese. The food was well priced and well portioned. Not a fan of their edamame, but did have an app that was called "something" grass"" (i cant remember exact name but it was great. Ordered one of their sushi combos and it was very good. If youre near Leblon/Ipanema/Copacabana, its worth checking out

Yelp
Most places aren't quite 5 star worthy. Sushi Leblon is unreal! Went down to Rio about 4 months ago (their spring time) with 2 girlfriends. We were interested in going to Sushi Leblon through a friends recommendation and decided we're doing it because our concierge raved about it. Reservations are hard to get because it fills up very quick. If you opt for no reservation you could be waiting awhile. If you're a bigger group you will be waiting a long time. If you get to dinner early, 5/6/7 because Brazilians like to eat pretty late, then you will more than likely get in within normal wait times or no wait time. We didn't make a reservation and fortunately had good timing. The menu is diverse. Offering amazing cocktails and unique sushi rolls. Everything from your typical philly roll to butter fish sashimi with quail egg on top - which, YOU MUST ORDER! Best part about Brazil in the wide variety of fresh seafood caught daily so you can't go wrong. Everything we had was amazing. The rice on the rice rolls melts in your mouth like butter. Most pieces are served as 1-2 pieces. Portions are small but the taste explodes in your mouth. Forgive me as it has been a couple of months since I've been there so I can't remember exact names of the rolls but I can give a general consensus. Anything with a quail egg on top, get it. If butterfish is on the menu, get it. The chef really knows how to cut it perfectly & the taste shows that. If you want multiple pieces in your roll, the classic rolls offer more food. There is also bento boxes that serve bigger meals to eat. The cocktails are YUMMY!! Passion fruit caipirinhas are amazing and so are the strawberry ones. They aren't sweetened with crazy amounts of sugar. The strawberries were also perfectly harvested! The atmosphere is great for a date or a group of friends. Not so kid friendly. The food comes out in waves but fast. The sushi is pricey but the taste is not comparable to any other place. I will be going back one day!

Yelp
Best Sushi in Rio, fresh and well priced. Try one of the large trays with a selection of sushi and sashimi. Recommend booking or come early, as the place is small and you often find queues trail out of the door and along the pavement by 8 pm...

Shar P.

Yelp
Amazing spot in Leblon. Small but very hip vibe - almost feels like you're hopping into a fresh tapas joint/contemporary kitchen in the middle of downtown Miami - a bar to see how/what the chefs are creating, cocktails being passed around, and an upscale clientele. Food was also excellent. Some of the best spicy tuna appetizer I've had in years. Sushi itself was also quite good. Service was quick, efficient and most waiters/waitresses knew English. Couldn't be happier then when we stumbled upon this on our trip!

Yelp
On our anniversary trip we were craving sushi... This place looked very popular and had a 30min wait. An hour later we were presented with quite possibly the worst tasting fish we've had ever. Frozen a long time ago, flavorless, and a manager that did not seem to care. Drink here, be seen here, don't eat here.

Yelp
What a scene. With the line to get in, the music, dim lighting and of course the posh hostesses. Sadly, I'm not big on scenes and I hate waiting in line. Fortunately, when we got in, the sushi was good and the alcohol was good as well. Service and the ambiance inside were also A-Ok. If you love a scene come here for sure. If you want good sushi in Rio, this place is good. Sadly, in addition to the wait, the other downside is the price. A place to check out when in Rio, but not the weekly sushi run place.

Yelp
I was craving good sushi. After eating so much meat and grease in Rio. I needed something light and a great people watching scene. When you first arrived, there will be a waiting list. Approach the host, she's a girl, and ask in English for a table for two. I think there's better chances of getting a table of you speak English. The food is comparable to the higher end sushi places such as: Nobu, Katana, or Morimoto. It's very small inside so the surroundings are intimate yet not overbearing. There's this one dessert that was absolutely to die for. Came in a chocolate cup with crumbs. The host has recommended it to us. Staff was on point considering how foreign service is. Great place, trendy vibe, good sushi.

Yelp
I went for lunch by myself, sat at the sushi bar, and had nigiri. Really amazing albacore and aburi! I hated the layout of the restaurant. The servers are walking behind you constantly and it's really unnerving.

Yelp
Comparable sushi quality with pretty good NYC restaurants (think Kotobuki) at much more affordable price. Bill was 120$ and we ate a lot & drank. Recommendations: fatty tuna with caviar & quail egg appetizer, sushi combinations looked like a solid deal, but we ordered in 3 rounds to stretch the meal out... And it worked. Butterfish was delicious.

Yelp
We had a great night at sushi Leblon. We waited for about 30 minutes for a table but they served drinks to us outside. We were sat at the bar which was great as we had view of the chefs preparing the food. Phenomenal Japanese - we really loved it. It is expensive but in my opinion worth it!
