The Best Restaurants In Prospect Heights

"If you want to metamorphose from an average New Yorker to an average New Yorker who has tasted seared salmon that was flown in from Tokyo the night before, then topped with fried onions, come to this little spot on Flatbush. The omakase experience at Sushi Lin is incredible, with a few different options ranging from $35-$120, and you can also order a la carte. Don’t leave without trying the salmon nigiri topped with sauteed tomato, or the bluefin tuna with mushroom." - bryan kim, hannah albertine, nikko duren, willa moore

The 15 Best Sushi Omakase Spots In NYC For Under $100

"No matter what sort of night you’re looking to have, Sushi Lin has options. You can keep things relatively tame with a $35 mini omakase, or you can order a $120 omakase with three appetizers, a sashimi plate, nine pieces of nigiri, a hand roll, and dessert. We suggest something in between. For $70, you’ll get a hand roll along with 10 pieces of nigiri like salmon topped with sautéed tomato. The little room in Prospect Heights feels like a secret (although there are now four locations), and you can sit at a table and order a la carte if you don’t need a multi-course buffet of fish." - neha talreja, bryan kim, kenny yang, hannah albertine, will hartman

The 18 Best Sushi Spots In NYC

"This place in Prospect Heights with a shoji screen and a little bonsai tree looks like hundreds of other neighborhood sushi spots, but that’s where the similarities end. Sushi Lin is serving some of the best sushi in the city—not just for a casual spot, but for any spot. The focus here is on quality fish, and for $35, you get five pieces of thick-cut nigiri along with a hand roll. It’s a deal that should cause lines around the block. There are four other locations, including an omakase-only spot in Soho." - bryan kim, neha talreja, hannah albertine, will hartman

The 20 Best Japanese Restaurants in NYC

"Sushi Lin has five locations across NYC, but the original in Park Slope, with its shoji screen and bonsai tree, is one of our favorite spots for budget-friendly omakase. They have options ranging from $37 to $120, but the sweet spot is their $70 option, which gets you 10 pieces of perfectly formed nigiri, a soup, and a handroll. You can order a la carte as well." - will hartman, neha talreja, bryan kim, willa moore

Google
This place exceeded our expectations… every piece was thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully executed. The chef’s skill really shines through in the way he pairs textures and flavors. It felt precise and deeply satisfying. We especially appreciated the creativity in some of the pieces and the quiet attention to detail throughout the meal. Easily one of the best sushi experiences we’ve had in New York and possibly in the country! They definitely deserve more recognition.

Google
The sushi and sashimi are fresh. The sashimi cuts are a bit small. It is acceptable for a simple sushi dinner. Don’t expect fine dining wait staff experience. When leaving the restaurant, the host didn’t even acknowledge us or say thank you come again Food: 4 of 5 Service: 2 of 5 Atmosphere: 3.5 of 5

Google
I’ve been on the hunt for a sushi spot in the area! Decided to try Sushi Lan and was incredibly impressed with the quality fish and customer service. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Recent new find for me. Haven’t dined in Brooklyn Heights for a few years. Spacious, clean, fresh fish.

Google
Did the lunch omakase. 12 pieces and a handroll for $75. Great omakase for takeout. A lot of extra stuff on the nigiri but other than the tomato on salmon it wasn’t too distracting from the fish

Google
Loved the omakase experience here. We were short on time so only ordered their sushi omakase. At the end of the meal, I wished we got the full omakase experience. I loved every single bite and everything about this place. The service was excellent. They even accommodated our request to add the omakase sashimi at the end - the sashimi comes in a different omakase set but one of friends asked if we could add it at the end (because the food was THAT good). The price was very reasonable for the arts of the craft and the taste of the food you get. If I live in the area, I would 110% make this spot my go-to sushi place.

Google
From the moment I walked in, I was hit with an overpowering smell of cleaning products — so strong that it completely distracted from the meal. I want to know a restaurant is clean, but I definitely don’t want to smell the cleaning supplies while trying to enjoy sushi. After being seated, it took a while before anyone took my order. I had the omakase, which was just okay. The included house salad was disappointing — low quality greens and barely any ginger dressing, which is usually the best part. On top of that, the spicy tuna roll I ordered to go wasn’t spicy AT ALL and included a strange crunchy, fried ingredient that wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu. The most surprising part was being verbally offered a 10% discount for paying cash “tonight.” For an established restaurant chain, that felt strange and a bit sketchy. Because of the overpowering chemical smell alone, I wouldn’t return.

Google
Was craving sushi so I indulged myself to a sushi dinner after my massage appointment on a Friday evening. For a casual meal, @sushilindumbo was a pretty good deal. There were 9 pieces of nigiri and a roll of my choice for the sushi dinner option. Overall, the taste is still more Americanized in my opinion.

Sharon M.

Yelp
The food was unbelievable from the gyoza to the maguro. Only surpassed by the tuna flight with melt in your mouth fatty tuna. The ambiance is cozy warm and welcoming The service was wonderful, friendly cheerful and efficient. Reasonable prices given the quality of the food. And all around fantastic experience

Yelp
As much as I like their SoHo location, I don't like their Brooklyn Heights location. I've tried this location a couple of times and been to SoHo's omakase for about 7-8 times already. And I must say that their signature dishes (salmon tomato, tuna truffle, seared tuna, etc.) do not have any flavor in the Brooklyn Heights location, while in SoHo each piece feels like a celebration. I also tried regular rolls here at the Brooklyn Heights location--what a fail. The pieces were breaking apart, and the ingredients in the rolls were obviously cut without any care. This place's rolls are no different from grocery store sushi quality, unfortunately.

Yelp
It's still good. Maybe there's a big in yelp app that wants me to re enter my review? I wrote more last time but whatever

Yelp
First delivery I had here was not good at all. But I could put blame on hotel as they did not inform that the food was here or I knew from restaurant. I found out about the place from tiktok and immediately ordered. Everything we had was amazing and good Tuna Flight,Yaki Salmon Don ,Yuzu Tai, tekka don, yellow tail don, king salmon don, edamame, unagi don, eel avocado, spicy salmon. There were two extra salads I got as they had no more miso soup. But other than that it was no complaints from my end. I would reorder but maybe I would like to go to the location.

Yelp
Great sushi! Great spicy tuna roll. Order the tuna maguro and the shumai to start. Service is great and so is the interior

Yelp
Happy to have a new restaurant in the area! Sushi Lin just opened this location, and the space is beautiful. It feels very open and bright, with plenty of tables and a long sushi counter. I tried the sushi omakase, $70 for ten pieces and a roll. Decent value, and the sushi itself was pretty good! I appreciated the variety and the adventurousness with some of the pieces, there were some interesting flavors. Service was a little *too* attentive, it felt almost like a conveyor belt at times. They were probably half full throughout our meal, but I somehow still felt a little rushed, like they were trying to get us out the door at times. Maybe they'll iron things out with time. Overall a decent place for omakase in a nice space!

Yelp
Delicious, affordable, welcoming new sushi spot that I'll be coming back to, no doubt. A relaxing, sleek place that's not pretentious and still calming. Such fresh, tasty omakase for $70 that gives you so much food, a sushi dinner for $33 with tons of sushi and a green salad. Can't wait to try more rolls. 5 stars!!!!!

Yelp
I've been coming back again and again with my family and they never miss. Affordable sushi considering the amazing quality. Definitely the best sushi in the Dumbo area by far. Really friendly service too

Yelp
the sushi here is so delicious. all of the apps are so good- really love the gyoza and shumai. this is a really good neighborhood spot that happens to have really incredible sushi. really the best spot.

Yelp
LOVED Sushi Lin on Flatbush when I tried it and was soooo excited to hear they opened a downtown Brooklyn location. We tried the tuna avocado appetizer and I ordered a salmon avocado roll and eel avocado roll. All were AMAZING!! Such fresh fish and so so filling. The inside of the restaurant is also very nice and the menu is great. You can decide if you want to do an upscale omakase meal or just a variety of negiri or more casual rolls. Service is super friendly and attentive. We felt very well taken care of and they did a great job of brining out all the main rolls at the same time. I'll be coming back again and again! Also the restaurant is suuuper close to the water, made for a great post dinner sunset walk!!

Yelp
Was so excited to see Sushi Lin opened up in Brooklyn Heights! I've been to the Flatbush Ave location in the past, and was always jealous of people who lived in walking distance. Great for sit down or takeout. TLDR: delicious sushi with rolls under $10, great for a casual dinner & definitely get dessert! Food: the rolls are filling & affordable. Seafood is fresh & there is very little rice, which I appreciate. Definitely recommend the sweet potato roll & spicy scallop! Sesame pudding & whiskey cake were also both really good and not too sweet. Service: very attentive, at both Brooklyn locations. They just opened this location so it's not as busy as their other ones yet. Insider tips: you can book ahead on resy! Would also recommend them for takeout. Good for: relaxed dinner with friends if you're not doing the omakase

Yelp
I really enjoyed the sushi and sashimi at this location. Servers were busy which resulted in my table of two feeling a little ignored, but overall I had a good experience.

Princess L.

Yelp
I have gone to this sushi spot at least 15 times now. It is mostly consistent and delicious. Last weekend we were there for lunch and noticed a lady had an issue with her sushi; she spoke to her young female server about this- the server went to the back to talk to someone and we could her a man yelling at her. Yelling at an employee who is sharing customer feedback is not acceptable; any type of yelling is rude and disrespectful. Whoever that man in the back was, he should be fired.

Ashley L.

Yelp
We were between mini omakase (5 piece nigiri & one hand roll) and the 9piece nigiri and one roll both were $35. we decided to get the mini omakase because our server said it would be more extravagant. I asked for no wasabi just bc i don't like it and when the server dropped off the sushi, he said this has no wasabi but as i took my first bite i realized they all still had wasabi on them. for $7 a piece for nigiri i would have liked it to be how i like. although the fish was fresh, but i would say there is definitely better in nyc.

Yelp
This is far and away the best sushi in the area! Every bite was fresh, flavorful and perfect. The tomato and salmon was a revelation. The service was consistent and immaculate. And we went with our toddler who loved their miso soup and avocado rolls. Don't sleep on the sake and beer offerings. The Japanese lager with yuzu was such a pleasant surprise. Also, for how amazing the meal was, it was incredibly reasonably priced. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This is officially my favorite sushi spot! I went to the other one in Brooklyn as well and loved it, and I'm so glad this one is just as good. It's super affordable for such high quality sushi (only $8 per roll) and they always have the most perfect avocados.

Yelp
Sushi Lin is as good as it gets! Sushi is always delicious, fresh, and affordable and they serve it up lickety-split! Sit at the bar and watch the artists at work, or order to go and they seem to have to ready for pickup before the phone goes cold! The staff here is always welcoming, friendly, and professional. Sushi Lin sets a gold-standard for other area sushi joints to strive for.

Yelp
Exceptional experience in this outstanding service sushi spot. Tasty food with fresh, high quality ingredients, detailed descriptions for each course of the Omakase, friendly & attentive staffs, cozy & inviting atmosphere, my husband and I really enjoyed the dinner and can't wait to return to explore more. Highly recommended!

Taylor R.

Yelp
Had the tuna flight (with soy paper) and it was amazing! Fish was so fresh and delicious. I could cut it easily with my chop stick. Will be back.

Yelp
Are you hungry? Do you like being hungry? Then by all means visit Sushi Lin in Brooklyn Heights. You will go in with a hearty appetite and leave the dinner with a hearty appetite. If you want to be pleasantly satiated, you will have to pay. For $35 you get omakase, five pieces small pieces of fish and a hand roll, trusting the sushi chefs to give you the freshest product, and what they serve is good. But it's too small. But to leave the restaurant filled but not stuffed, you will have to shell out $70 allowing you to double the quantity of raw fish, but the value-to-product ratio is disappointing. The hand roll shown in pictures looks like a large waffle sugar cone. Here it is as miniscule as the rest of the sushi. You get miso soup with the dinner at no extra charge, but while miso soup is never recommended for people on a low sodium diet, this one tastes as though it was cooked in water from the Dead Sea. They have shrimp sushi on the menu and avocado sushi as well. I asked the server to make shrimp avocado. She replied: We do not have that. Reminds me of the dinner scene in "Five Easy Pieces." All is served in a pleasant, clean atmosphere in the Brooklyn Heights restaurant that opened only in June 2023. The waiters are classy and friendly. That should be taken for granted in a mid-level restaurant. That's not enough. I would rather leave a dinner without having to buy the aforementioned ice cream waffle cone to feel that I've eaten. I am 5"10" weighing 116 pounds, so hardly one with gross food needs.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Excellent and traditional sushi. This is not American interpretive sushi, but really good fish, wonderful presentation. This place is by far the best sushi around this section of Brooklyn.

Yelp
We've been waiting for a great sushi experience to come to our neighborhood and Sushi Lin is perfect here. We loved the chef's omakase and sashimi dinner, and the wait staff and kitchen was accommodating with our allergies and preferences and made it more perfect for us. Would definitely come back and include it as one of our regular restaurants in Brooklyn Heights.

Yelp
Fair cost, high quality Omakase with friendly service. Which make it a nice place to relax and enjoy in the area !

Keira G.

Yelp
Hands down best sushi in BK Heights. Authentic, FRESH, and nice airy space. We always get the sushi dinner and it's so nice to pair with any roll on the menu. Service is always attentive. Go!

Yelp
We've been to Sushi Lin many times and love the food, especially the omakase. Last night, my friend and I decided to treat ourselves to the omakase and met up for dinner. The food was amazing as usual and we were having a great time until we decided to order a bottle of wine to share. We had been there for over an hour and my friend had one cocktail and I, two glasses of wine with dinner as well, but we figured at $15 a glass, as most people would do, let's just share a bottle and if we didn't finish it then we were ok with that ( we were spending almost $100 each on omakase at this point anyways and we were treating ourselves). When we ordered the bottle the server/hostess who wasn't one of the servers on the floor but I guess was serving drinks literally looked at us and said, "Another bottle?" We never ordered a bottle prior. So we were confused and so we immediately assumed she was judging me for already having two glasses at dinner. Then, she brought the bottle of wine over and said again, "Are you both sure you want the WHOLE bottle?" We were both pretty much at a loss for words because we felt so judged. My friend said, "yeah, we're having a girls night." And she laughed, opened it and walked away with the most judgmental attitude. It was beyond rude. We were both 37 year old woman just enjoying an evening out and it was uncalled for. Sushi Lin's food is amazing but the hostess needs to work on her people skills. Did she judge the table of men at the other end of the restaurant who ordered multiple rounds of drinks? we calmly and politely were just trying to enjoy our evening and she ruined it.

Yelp
So happy to have a new neighborhood go-to. Great food and great service. The Yaki Salmon Don was our favorite dish of the evening.

MK R.

Yelp
Good location in Brooklyn Hights. We had sushi and sashimi specials and they were both very good. Good Sushi, nice place & good service...thumbs up!

Eric S.

Yelp
sushi was amazing. as a group of three, we got 3 apps, 2 mini omakase , 2 tuna flights, and a couple rolls. solid portions and the fish was great! highly recommend!

Valery G.

Yelp
The service was so slow and the food was terrible. We ordered the mini omakase that came with 5 pcs and a hand roll. The order came out in two parts that were 15 minutes apart because their service was so slow. They cleared our plates before we were even finished eating. We also got an uni sashimi but the quality of it was very fishy.

sarah p.

Yelp
everything was disgusting. odd taste. had to throw everything out. seriously am considering asking for a refund.

Laura A.

Yelp
I recently had dinner here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the Omakase which was great quality. My server was attentive and the ambiance was just what I needed - laid back and relaxed. I'll definitely be back.

Justin C.

Yelp
We got the mini omakase and the tuna flight, unbelievably good sushi. Fresh fish and tasted very good!!!

Lucia L.

Yelp
Quality of fish was excellent. Our favorites were the King Crab Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll. Would definitely recommend if you are in town!

Joji Y.

Yelp
Not worth to go here. Read good reviews about this place and gave them a try. But was very disappointing. Price was expensive, and more importantly fish quality was sub par. Service is okay but not the best. I strongly would NOT recommend to go here.

Stephen F.

Yelp
World class modern sushi! You're making a mistake if you do not give them a try! Excellent service in a bright clean space.
