Google
I can't believe this Sushi spot has been around since forever and I've only discovered it today! Better late than never! Service was wonderful over the phone for take out. Food was packaged neatly and beautifully! Overall, every roll was Delicious and Fresh! Pricing was very affordable! We are very happy!

Google
Best sushi I’ve had in years. Just look at how finely those scallions are chopped! The chef takes his craft seriously, so expect to wait for your dishes to arrive. It’s well worth it.

Google
Unassuming spot in a strip mall. Folks are very kind. Ordered edamame, 2 miso soups and 3 rolls to go. Fresh and delicious. We'll definitely be back. Yum!

Google
Have gone to Sushi Maki a couple times, each time doesn’t disappoint! There rolls are big but yet so filling and delicious! The owner a sweet man too and gave me and my friends free miso since it was a late cold day. I love this place it’s so affordable but yet so food! Wish they had some music playing in the background because it is quiet and cramp in there

Google
Decided to have sushi for dinner and stumbled across this place. The store was boarded up completely, turns out someone drove through their store and robbed them. Nonetheless I proceeded to head inside and was happy to see an excellent health rating by king county. As I sat down I was greeted by a very sweet waitress I orded everything she recommended and I have to say it everything was good! The first roll in my picture seemed like the sushi melted in my mouth, but had a crunch from the fried shrimp and cucumber. It was pretty spicy didn't help that I added heaps of wassabi. The second roll was the best it was a blast of flavors one of the best rolls I've ever had. By the time I got to the third roll I was already full! But had to finish and the third roll was just fine. Least favorite of the previous rolls. I sat for awhile and was only asked if I needed something once from a different server who kinda had an attitude. Overall I enjoyed my time.

Google
I have been coming here for many many years now but recently they have been losing me as a loyal customer. Due to busy schedule I opt for the takeout most of the time, still leave a tip and don’t mind being charged more for extra sauces, bags or whatever, but a pea size of wasabi for multiple rolls, cheapest chopsticks you could probably get a splinter out of, time and packaging all play a part in my choices. It’s still the better one in the area but further I won’t be going out of my way for it.

Google
SO GOOD! I returned just 2 days after my first visit bc it was that good. First visit I forgot to take a photo but remembered when I returned. The fish quality is good and the sushi rice is seasoned and cooked perfectly and not too much like some places - my pet peeve is when there’s way more rice than the filling for rolls. Compared to other places the price is more than fair. Maybe bc the atmosphere is more casual and a fast food vibe. I will definitely be returning as this is now my new favorite sushi place in Burien. Highly recommend!

Google
Sushi Maki is a delicious sushi restaurant. They were takeout only during the pandemic, but now they are open again for dine in service. If you think the prices are a little higher, do not fear, they are absolutely worth it as this is authentic sushi with great service. You won’t be disappointed , check out their specialties menu along with the classics.

Yelp
Really fresh, high quality scallops and salmon. Pretty decent sushi. A bit pricey, but worth it. Sign says there's a bathroom available for customers, but it sure doesn't look like it. You pay at the front when you're done, similar to how you might in Europe. Don't expect a server to come by and deliver the check.

Yelp
first timer - I didn't want to write this review. I wanted to gate keep. Sushi Maki is a tiny restaurant- seats 24 - I know. I counted. They have more items on the menu than seats. It's an extensive menu with a verity of rolls - named after cities - it's kind of cute - and they're all equally delicious. You can't go wrong with any one. Restaurant is clean, cute, well kept, ran by a sweet lady, and best of all a hole in the wall. Super fresh sushi and nigiri and amazing prices. Food is delicious, Miso soup is made with real Miso paste - make sure you get some. Service is, quick, efficient, nice, friendly staff

Yelp
I haven't sat down to eat here since before covid. I have continued to get take out but it was nice to take a seat today even though it was busy when I went. I always enjoy their rolls. We got some edamame, a California roll, the Jackson roll and shrimp tempura. I didn't get it today but I enjoy their miso soup as well. Overall it was nice to sit and stare at all the business cards on the walls and enjoy a meal.

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi spot . It's a small family run spot that makes everything as u order it and they really load u up . They really put pride in making the best sushi and it shows . They cook with love
google avatar

Derrick G.

Yelp
This is an excellent sushi restaurant with great food and service. I enjoyed all the rolls and nigiri that I tried.
google avatar

Yelp
Japanese perfection every-time! Fish is fresh Rolls and rows are nice Customer service is professional and kind Best
google avatar

Josh F.

Yelp
The food was very mediocre. We ordered 4 rolls nothing started as a room service was about the same as the food. We didn't get sick so there's that. I will not be going back that's for sure
google avatar

Lyna N.

Yelp
My favorite roll I always get here is the Jackson Roll. Seared salmon and spicy california is a great combo, and, the proportions of fish vs rice are good for this one. My other favorite thing to get is the spicy scallop hand roll - it is pricey though. They do usually give a lot of scallop at least. Since COVID hit, they have not been open for dine-in and are take-out only. The thing that bothers me about this place is the consistently bad service, specifically from the lady who works there. She is usually rude. For example, there wa a time she got our order wrong and would not admit it. My s/o does not eat fish, at all, since he was born. He only orders California rolls here. He tried explaining and she would not budge, so he gave up and ended up with sushi that he couldn't eat. Good sushi though.

Yelp
Sushi is always fresh! Best sushi spot in Burien. A large selection. Nothing bad to say.

Yelp
I've gotten takeout from Sushi Maki multiple times, and it's so good that I drive from Seattle to Burien just for their sushi! This cute mom-and-pop shop in a plaza serves fresh sushi with generous portions, and the quality is always amazing. Plus, it's super affordable for what you get. Whether it's dine-in or to-go, they never disappoint. Totally worth the trip!

Raven L.

Yelp
ALWAYS love sushi maki. Has not come close to any other Seattle sushi for me. I travel 30 minutes for this place!

Cyleen E.

Yelp
This little sushi place was so delicious. The quality of the fish was really good. It was in such an unassuming location. Very simple but delicious! Will definitely come back several times during my trip! Very close to the airport too! Prices were very reasonable and staff were friendly.

Andrew J.

Yelp
Some of the best sushi I have had! All really good quality and fresh but more importantly very good ratio of fish to rice. Some places cheap out and it's all rice, but not here. Definitely coming back
google avatar

Stefan P.

Yelp
There aren't many Sushi restaurants in our area but this one is pretty good They also have a good beer and Saki collection Friendly service This was our first time and we will be back!
google avatar

Jun C.

Yelp
Reasonable prices. Great Quality. Delicious . Love the hand rolls . Service was good.
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
I will say, be patient! Orders usually take 25-45 minutes either dine in or to go. But it is well worth the wait! Sushi is amazing and fresh. Staff is always kind and will let you know about the wait beforehand. Small quiet shop and a great place for an afternoon lunch.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Sushi Maki always knows how to satisfy my craving for sushi! I have only visited twice but the sushi has not been disappointing. First time i ordered was around lunch time and it took about 20 minutes to come by and get my food. Second time i ordered was 30 minutes before closing and my sushi was ready in 15 minutes. Not too long of a wait for miso soup and sushi. So far i have tried the Bismark roll and the Spider roll. Both were really good. I preferred the Bismark roll more just because the presentation and the taste matched with my high expectations when it comes to sushi. Miso soup was alright. It was basically just broth with no toppings. I ordered it twice thinking maybe the toppings were forgotten the first time around? But no. Its just miso broth.

Yelp
It was my first time going here today, and it will be my last. I ordered two rolls to go and came back in 10-15 minutes to pick them up. The lady just sets a box down on the counter with the wasabi/ginger and soy sauce container on top. I didn't realize it was the soy sauce at first, because it was the size of a thimble and half-full. I asked for a bag, and then the tough guy wearing a mask said from behind her, "bags are 10 cent." I said, "Ok, I can swing that." I asked if they wanted me to break a dollar or if I could do another transaction. The lady, who was actually intelligent, said not to worry about it. When I got home I realized that the thimble was in fact all of the soy sauce that they had provided for the entire consumption of my two rolls of sushi. I called the man back to tell him Thank You, and he laughed his little girly laugh. This place sucks as much as Seattle does, and they will get what they deserve doing business in this area.

L M.

Yelp
Slow service when there were maybe 2 other people in there. But friendly staff, delicious food, and great prices! A cozy, sunny casual spot. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Jamie R.

Yelp
We ordered 3 sushi rolls and 2 misos over the phone at 6:45pm and were quoted an hour before our order would be ready which was okay since we were told this and expected that wait. It's still strange that it would take an hour but whatever. The problem is that when we got to the restaurant at 7:50 after my boyfriend paid and tipped they told him that there was someone ahead of us and that the order would take longer. It then took another 30 minutes to get our order. The sushi was fine but the expected wait for it is more than ridiculous.
google avatar

J H.

Yelp
The sushi was delicious! The seared salmon on the Jackson was one of the best salmons on a roll we have ever tried. We all had different rolls, and every one of them were devoured. The restaurant was cozy and clean. I believe it was the owner that waited on us, he was friendly & so helpful. We will definitely be making this our go to spot when we have to fly into/out of sea-tac. Thank you!
google avatar

Danielle W.

Yelp
Sushi Maki always delivers. We order out from here at least once a month. Solid rolls! 4 rolls is definitely enough for two or so people. One tip is to order early in the day. After about 5pm the wait for pick up can be over an hour, so place your order now!

MC J.

Yelp
Their special rolls are what I typically go for. Service is always good here but the restaurant could use improvements. It just feels cold in there and doesn't have a welcoming vibe to it.
google avatar

Jerry R.

Yelp
This place is super awesome hole in the wall. I had dinner here with my daughter and bonus son. We ordered 2 rolls each and all of them were delicious and fresh. I will definitely be eating here again.

Austin D.

Yelp
Best sushi in the area. They're a small family owned business that has been around for years and we've been there countless of times. The quality in fish is always consistent! If you're not a fan of something - they offer a large variety of different sushi roll combinations. Our go to is usually the Jackson and the Montpellier. Service is always friendly! Tip: bring a reusable bag to save on their small paper bag fee.
google avatar

Al H.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best tasting sushi places I've had so far and I'm not from here we are from chicago and found this place. So it's a small joint my wife was kinda feeling sketchy at first but I said let's try it. So we did and wow great taste I will come back this way if we come back to Seattle area for sure. It's just to go though just fyi. They have table but they are all to the side so you can't eat there for now I guess but worth the take out l.
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
The food is amazing best sushi in burien! But the old women the one that takes orders IS SO RUDE! She gives us attitude every time we go and we notice it with other customers. She throws napkins and has such a bad attitude no matter how nice we are. We've been coming here for over 10 years and she's always been so rude. You would think her attitude to regulars is different but it never is! And she's so stingy when we ask for extra sauce knowing we have to pay more and with ginger too!
google avatar

Joe E.

Yelp
I don't if this place cares if they take orders in an orderly fashion. Service is always slow. I gave this place a few chances and it has always disappointed me. 3/23 I came in and they took my order....said they said an hour and a half for them to complete my order. I came back in an hour and a half. They didn't start my order yet...another 20 mins later, I finally get my order. I took the food back to my family and they did give any soy sauce. What a joke.
google avatar

Alekkz D.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed that they have such great reviews but I have to be the Negative Nancy and give my first impression a 1 star. We just moved to the area and was craving some sushj and being only 5 minutes away from home, I figured this could be our new go to spot and I need at least 1-2 times a week for my sushi fix. The prices seemed reasonable and I was excited to try their sushi, however... first impression was not the way I thought it would go considering I've worked in the restaurant industry for a decade. We walked in to order, didn't mind waiting up to 20 minutes but right as we decided and walked up to the counter, the older Asian lady looked extremely disgruntled and tells us it's a 45 minute wait if we order right now... and I'm looking around and thinking do they not want our business at all? Normally I call to order before picking up but we had time to spare... however we decided to just leave. Our support was unappreciated apparently during such a pandemic hurting small businesses.

Yelp
Ordered from here last night and their sushi is so good. They don't have dine in right now, im not sure if that's forever or just for the moment. I had compared prices from other places and they are very reasonably priced for the quality, I ordered 4 rolls for about $50. The only critique is I did call to order and the woman that answered was kind of rude, I stated I wanted an order for pickup and she tried to rush me through my order. There was a gentleman on the phone when I came to pick the order up and his demeanor was completely different and he was super nice, maybe they should have him do the phone answering.
google avatar

Dung H.

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi place in the area! We order from here at least a couple times a month. The sushi here is so fresh and authentic. Everytime I go here I love ordering the salmon nigiri, Dover, Montgomery, Richmond, Trenton, or Jackson! All of these are soo good! They currently offer to go orders only but it's worth the trip!
google avatar

Bao V.

Yelp
Sushi Maki is my wife and I favorite spot to order from. We order for pick up (no dine in) and we usually order 2-3 rolls (jackson roll is yummy) along with some nigiri. The sushi are good quality and their price are decent as well. Their to-go container they use could be better, the sushi rice sticks to them which cause the rolls or rice to fall apart if not careful using chopsticks. A bit annoying but no biggie. The woman that takes order and rings you up could be more polite or appreciative. I have never gotten a "thank you" or even a smile from her. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
google avatar

C.D. S.

Yelp
Carson is the baked scallop roll that is awesome!! I go here often and never disappoints...
google avatar

Amy V.

Yelp
Keeping this short and sweet! I've been going to this spot since high school! A good 10+ years eating at this place. Honestly, no matter what you get, it will be good. It can get busy so the wait to get your sushi might take a little while but it'll be worth it. I'm so glad this place is still going strong after all these years. So blessed to have a solid sushi spot near home :)
google avatar

Mary N.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised! This small little shop exudes sushi land energy so I was expecting nothing less than $1 sushi quality but everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The wait was a bit long for 5 rolls but they were all fire so I didn't even mind. Will def be back.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Open during the stay at home order! It is hidden in the corner of a complex and doesn't look like much when you walk past it, but this sushi really HIT. I have been craving sushi for so long! Maki Sushi does have interesting names for their sushi rolls, so read the descriptions. The portions itself were bigger than usual/expected! The clear box was packed with seaweed salad, serving like 4 people. The sushi pieces itself are bigger than other restaurants. Usually I can eat a piece in one bite but I have to eat these pieces in two bites. I recommend the Helena roll with eel. It was savory and packed with shrimp and eel. The rainbow roll was good too, but nothing special or out of the ordinary. I will definitely come here again! FYI: They didn't give soy sauce in my pick up, so remember to ask for some! They provide ginger and wasabi though.
google avatar

Kaiya V.

Yelp
California Roll was really good but the spicy California roll wasn't very spicy. The gentleman who worked there was very kind. And I love the feel of the restaurant. It was very Qwaint. Definitely will return for more.
google avatar

Hanna S.

Yelp
My brother: "this sushi better be good" My brother: *eats sushi* My brother: " (while drooling) is it possible to order more" I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this place! There aren't many places in Burien that have sushi, let alone GOOD SUSHI!!! LOTS of variety (like they really got all the rolls sis), fair price, and good portions!!!! If you find yourself bored at home hungry amidst all this corona business, this is definitely the move for you!

Belgica A.

Yelp
Fish was fresh and nigiri was cut in nice thick slices. The restaurant was no frills, family owned. It seems most customers order take out. Service was good, owner recognized customer after us by name. I'll be coming back to satisfy my sushi cravings.
google avatar

Roy B.

Yelp
Ranks amongst the top sushi I've ever eaten.... good hell.... #DERICIOUNESS. This MY go to in the SEATAC area... did I say good hell? Damn man... top shelf... 5x5...

Seema B.

Yelp
hands down without a doubt worth every penny. the fish is swimming happily in my belly and i couldn't be happier
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
Love sushi maki and everything is super fresh! I get the Montgomery and Albany which both complement each other very well. It's only take out but they still make it the best.

Jess O.

Yelp
I love this sushi maki. I have been coming here since I was in 8th grade and it has never failed me!! The fish is fresh, they are attentive, and I'd say it's quite fast for the food to come out for it being ran by only 3 people. I highly recommend this spot. It's delicious!!
google avatar

Linh N.

Yelp
I guess it's time I updated my last review. Sushi maki has become one of my favorite places for rolls. It's definitely comfort food at this point for me because whenever I'm having a rough week I always want rolls from here. The last time I was here. I had dinner with my siblings so we all decided to order two rolls each and switch some. A sushi roulette I would say ahha. While all of our rolls did look similar they did not taste the same. Everything was so good! I could have saved a whole roll for lunch the next day but because I was eating my feelings away I figured the rolls would rather I enjoy that night haha. It's run by a mom and pop so it takes a bit when ordering but I've never had a problem with waiting, they're really the sweetest and I'm honestly always telling my friends to order here when they want rolls. Probably shouldn't have written this review because they'll end up busier and I'll just have to wait longer hahaha.
google avatar

Jonah F.

Yelp
Wish I could do a better review but I ordered a pick up order today and was given an hour wait for the food which I usually understand as they are often busy and with it being Valentine's Day I was expecting longer waits. When I arrived the person that took my call had not ran my order in their POS as I saw the ticket still on the counter and they could not find my order. They gave me another 30 minute wait time. I made the order at 5:17pm arrived at 6:20pm. Didn't get my order til 7:18pm. I'm a long time customer and this is definitely an unusual event compared to my previous experiences with Sushi Maki. Dine in customers seemed to also be waiting a long time for service as well. They seem short staffed for a busy day so I want to give the benefit of the doubt but I hope they can use this review as a learning point for the future. I love the food and am excited that they are returning to dine in but hope they can work out the kinks because this was truly a disappointing customer experience.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
I came in on a Wednesday around 2:30pm. Dine in was empty. While I was there several take out orders came in. I got the 5 piece combo. Fish is still fresh, food is still delicious. However, the ambience is sad. Its awkwardly quiet when you dine in. Its very uncomfortable. Get a small speaker and play music or something. It was so quiet I could hear on of the staff members clipping their nails in the back. So gross. Staff need training, that's not cool. Do that at home. Deducting one star for that reason. Looking at my previous review, I should take my own advice and order to go.
google avatar

Caitlynn R.

Yelp
This is a hidden mom and pop shop! They have such a huge selection of sushi to choose from, my favorite happens to be the Juneau. Although there is quite a wait for dine-in, it really is worth it. People should remember there is only 2-3 on the board at a time, and on top of that they also have to do take-out orders too. Other than that, the service is really friendly and fast :) If you're going to order 4+ rolls, try and call ahead of time before you arrive. Friday and Saturday's are BUSY. They also have party platters, call a day ahead!

Bea M.

Yelp
My go to spot in Burien for consistently good and fresh sushi. I've been coming here since high school (quite a long time ago) and love supporting this local business. Our favorites are Montgomery (spicy roll), Phoenix (spicy roll) and Salem, but you can't go wrong with any of their rolls.
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
Awesome sushi rolls!! The Nigiri s as l mlk on was so yummy!! There was a nice heat to the spicy rolls...nothing too overpowering. Had six rolls split between 3 very hungry people. Pricey but worth it!
