Sushi Maki - Kendall

One of the best meals of my life, without a doubt. Everything was incredible, but I’d especially recommend the sashimi options! The quality was excellent and fish tasted very fresh. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful (as evident), and the ambience of the restaurant was really nice for lunch with my group of 4 friends and I. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re looking for some amazing sushi & Asian fusion cuisine!

Great customer service and respectful. Not something you see in Miami nowadays but this is Kendall. EDIT: This tastes like the best meal of my life. Also, great boba. I got the Mongolian beef, but it is much more than just steak with veggies. I drank the broth they provide and I was taken back, for sure.

So disappointed in a recent order. Some of my order was missing and my coral reef roll came with white rice instead of brown which would’ve been fine if it wasn’t so overcooked it was basically porridge. Iced this roll multiple times never had it be this bad.

I've been a customer of this Sushi Maki for a while. My go to Rolls are the JB Tempura Roll, Cali Ocho, and Dragon Roll. My dual tab is usually around $45. This last time we really couldnt eat the JB tempura roll.. The fried batter on the outside tasted low quality and just look at how little salmon they had in there. It was mostly fried batter and rice.

I had such a great experience thanks to Fiorella! She was super kind, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout my meal. Her energy was so positive, and she checked in just the right amount without ever rushing us. She gave great recommendations and really made the visit feel special. Fiorella is the type of employee who makes you want to come back again. Sushi Maki is lucky to have her!

We’ve been in Florida for 10 days and visited several restaurants, we’ve tried sushi at various places as well. This Sushi Maki- Kendall hands down has the best sushi! We’ve traveled to various places and nothing can compare the freshness is unbeatable the taste superb all in all 5 stars! Great customer service as well! Thank you!

Okay, I needed to post a review on this place because it is too good. We came in there just thinking of ordering a roll or two but ended up ordering 4 rolls. We ordered the Cali Ocho Roll, the California Roll, University Roll, and the Spicy Tuna Roll. Then we moved on to the Aloha Soy Poke Bowl which was absolutely amazing paired with a side of Eel Sauce. Our server, Teddy was great in keeping us with food, and refilling our drinks. We then moved on to the salty, savory Bacon Fried Rice. (We ordered ours without Pineapple.) We then finished off with a nice Tempura Fried Ice Cream for dessert. Thank you for being my favorite weekly spot Sushi Maki! -Jacob Moore

This is our go to sushi restaurant! The manager here is so welcoming and the service is quick! They have large tables which we love and their food is superb! I recommend their edamame with chili garlic sauce. You will not be disappointed!

This is such an underrated gem in Kendall. Stopped in the other day for so sushi and I was presently surprised! In terms of decor it looks like most other sushi maki's, but it was clean and good size so you don't feel crammed when eating. In terms of service, we ordered take out so I can't say much, but the staff member who took my order over the phone was very friendly and my order was 100% correct! Not the food: 1. My dragon roll was PERFECT. I know that's a basic roll, but it was perfect and tasted so fresh, I was so happy! 2. The friend rice was the weakest part of the meal in my opinion, it was good but a bit on the dry side. Could have used more sauce or less cook time? 3.The veggie spring roll was so good! Perfectly crunchy and the filling was so tasty! Overall a good spot for a quick sushi craving and price wise I thought it was great!

I went on Thursday and ordered a tuna bowl order take out they didn't put any sauces on the meal. Every sauce I paid for was extra on the side. The food made me sick. I will never go back again!! What a disappointment.

The Volcano roll was a mess. Too much Mayo. The special Fried rice was nothing special. Chicken was dry and tough. Spring rolls were more like summer rolls; overcooked and almost burned. The Whole Foods roll was okay. All in all, too much $$$ for very little quality. The app did not take my order correctly or it just did not make the adjustments I needed and it ended up with food I didn't originally want. Pickup was smooth. They did not take care in how many people I was ordering for (I added the family meal for 4 and they gave me 8 pairs of chopsticks, 6 forks and 4 spoons. Makes sense??? Not really. May be the last time I order there for takeout.

Holy freshness!!!! Hands down the freshest sashimi we have had anywhere recently, Happy Valentine's to us! The salmon melted in our mouths, and a little tip..... dip it in their ginger dressing;)! The lunch special cones with 12 pieces of sashimi and either a salad or miso soup, you choose. The service here is always friendly, quick, personable, and efficient. The ambience is bright and happy. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. FYI they have a rewards program that is definitely worth joining!

Poor food quality. Not fresh and packaging Togo was terrible they placed hot chicken teriyaki on top of cold raw sushi. Customer service was bad when I called to advise my order was wrong she told me she would get the manager and hung up on. Do not recommend!

As soon as I walked in the General Manager Mario came and made our experience so worthwhile. His customer service is unmatched.

This place is amazing!!! I ordered a sushi boat for a graduation party and sushi make definitely delivered!! The sushi was beyond fresh!! Ordering was a breeze!! 10/10 service!

Wait is completely ridiculous. Food is ok but the wait is out of control. They will not look at you. 1 hour waiting for food. No attention staff is clueless

First of all - The service is so terrible, no one has any idea about what they're doing. And secondly hatter waiting a ridiculous amount of time for the food, it comes out looking and tasting totally stale and not fresh. I was so grossed out. Never again.

Absolutely the worst sushi restaurant I've been to in a very long time.... I should of walked out when I saw that the restaurant was completely empty on a Friday night.. ************** AVOID AT ALL COSTS***************** *Severely over priced 2 rolls and wontons $50.00 *Server was horrible he didn't know what was in the Crab Rangoon... it was a fried dumpling and when I asked him he said he was unsure what it was... then proceeded to come out and say well I work in the kitchen so it's Crab Rangoon... definitely was a fried dumpling with pork filling which my fiancé is allergic to... *The servers were bunched up in the corner by the register on their phones instead of bringing our check like we requested.. *The servers were too busy giving each other the finger to realize we were flagging them down *The food was of poor quality and not worth the price paid. *The sushi didn't taste fresh.. Just over all a bad experience, we will not be returning nor would I recommend this place to anyone.. I've heard a lot of good stuff about sushi maki in the past and this experience didn't live up to the hype... Owner needs to intervene soon....

Food at best is ok. This is just an average spot if you are nearby but not worth going out of your way to eat here.

Great experience! Passed by simply to get some boba tea refreshers which tasted pretty good. Their manager Florence was very sweet and their staff was friendly. Will be visiting again to try more of their teas and food.

Due to the COVID there is outdoor sitting available and fans located right next to every table. Staff is taking extra precautions wearing gloves, masks, face shields, paper disposable menus and contactless payments online when dinning outside. I give this sushi Maki a 5 out of 5 never seems to disappoint. The food was very good and too good I forgot to take pictures haha. My boyfriend and I we order edamame appetizer, 2 JB Tempura rolls, and 2 Cali Ocho Rolls with some diet cokes on the side. The total came out to $50 which truly isn't bad for all the food we got. Good job Sushi Maki and keep up the good work (:

Food is decent enough that it wasn't offensive to eat lol. I ordered with my family on Uber eats because there was multiple bogos. First and last time we will order. We all got horrible stomach aches right after eating, and hadn't eaten anything out of the ordinary that same day. I wouldn't be surprised if the raw fish isn't super fresh and that being the cause of the stomach issues. Overall, it was enjoyable enough to not be upset before the stomach issues, but not enjoyable enough to order again.

Horrible service. Restaurant empty and all servers by the register talking and not paying attention to customers. Flagged them a few times but nothing, they were so into their conversation and phones. Sat there waiting to order until i had to decide leaving this place was the best option. Not a comeback! No wonder this place was EMPTY!!! Next door restaurant Chef Tony excellent food and customer service.

First time here, I always heard about the Bacon rice fried and yeah! Was my opportunity to taste and yummy yummy!! Love the rice and the sushi platters we order. Can't wait to be here again

Delicious food and great service. Everyone said hello when me and my family walked in. Waiter was attentive and offered great suggestions. We had the crab rangoons which where crispy and delicious. I had the aloha poke bowl which was the tuna poke bowl. It tasted fresh and savory . The pineapple and the seaweed truly complimented the tuna. This dish has become my go to meal when at sushi maki. We also had the waiters suggestion which is pictured - the nigiri and the fried ice cream. Both dishes 10/10 approve and recommended.

Food took a lot longer to be ready then they had originally said. Everything tasted fresh , was fairly satisfied but my main complaint would be that the sushi lacked a bit of flavor. Overall not bad , still enjoyed it

I ordered a variety of items for delivery through Uber eats. If I could give 0 stars, I would. The kids chicken was chewy and soggy, the rice was hard... inedible. My side salad was old looking and the dressing was just flavorless. The rangoons lacked in filling and were also soggy, perhaps because it was delivered and not served fresh but either way there was way more of the dough than anything else. The vegetable gyozas were gross to say the least and burned on the bottom. I also ordered the coral reef roll which had almost no amount of cream cheese... mind you, I got it specifically because it had cream cheese. The only thing that was ok were the sushi tacos. Two of them tasted the same, even though they were 3 different fish but still decent... not great... Hopefully it sits well in my stomach... not likely. I am overall very let down by this establishment. Spent $65 (not Including the Uber Eats fees and tip) and my 2 kids and I are still hungry... since we barely finished the meal. The quality of every thing we tried was just terrible. I wish I would have just pushed myself out of the house and picked up from Fujiya.

We ordered take out and Omygoodness what delishiousness! We got the chicken teriyaki platter which comes with a serious abundance of chicken, with some onions and zucchini/squash, side of rice, and small soup or salad. Chicken teriyaki platter was tasty and fresh. Salad dressing was alright- not as flavorful as the usual ginger dressing, and more oily. The teriyaki sauce came on the side and I would have liked more sauce but I like things saucy. We also got the ají amarillo bowl which was bright, fresh, and so good!!!! The bits of fresh mango really bring the bowl to another level. Loved it! Pics are taken after I took a few bites so presentation was better than what the photos show

I was hoping this location was better but it seems like their fish is not fresh or they treat it differently because it just doesn't look and taste all that great. I will say you can't go wrong with their fried Oreos. I devoured those!

I want to like everything about Sushi Maki: sushi, close to where I live, and ability to sign up for rewards. I keep giving them a chance, but nothing ever goes right. Every time I go, they make the order wrong: leave out ingredients, make it according to an old recipe that is no longer on the menu, make it according to a new recipe that is not listed online when you order, run low on an ingredient and try to slyly make it with half the normal and half a substitute without telling me. That's right; they knowingly subbed a very different ingredient and did not tell me because, "they were running low." One time they made my meal without several ingredients and after sending back already for making wrong, I was starving and didn't notice the missing ingredients until late in the meal. When I asked the waiter about it he kind of blamed me for not noticing sooner because "now there is nothing [he] can do about it." They also tend to wrap things up and staple the bag shut on to go items, making it even harder to check the order to see which thing they inevitably left out or subbed. Oh, and that rewards program? We tried to sign up one time and the waiter took our information amd then never signed us up. Each time I think maybe the issue is a fluke or because someone was new, but there are only so many times I can assume that. I think I've given sushi maki enough chances and won't be returning.

So glad my nephew chose this restaurant for his ring ceremony dinner. The food was amazing, the service too. Let's go back to the food... I ordered a calamari appetizer with a tangy spicy mayo sauce, it was delicious. I then ordered wok fried rice with shrimp, the plate was huge. My nephew ordered 2 dragon rolls, yes, 2 because he loves them so much. My sister ordered volcano fries, these were amazing, she shared a little. Some of other family members looked delicious as well like the Aloha Soy Poke Bowl, sushi tacos & yakitori duo (steak skewers) and of course for dessert the Thai donuts! As you can read, we had a great meal. Service was very good too, quick and very responsive to our table.

The food is good and the service is good when the right staff is working. However, the restaurant needs a deep cleaning and the bathrooms need a hose down. Sushi restaurants must be clean to do well.

One of my favorite place to go and eat sushi and drink bubble tea. Their portion of sushi is just right , sushi so far has been good quality

I'm going to start out by saying I am a very difficult person to impress. I have been in the food industry for over 16 years. I expect perfection. We usually order thru Uber eats and have received perfected orders. Even with add on and everything. I tend to always have errors when I order delivery(forgot an item of the food is just horrible) but with sushi maki I feel comfortable ordering and I know I will get everything as I ordered. The food is always fresh and tastes great.

I believe that this place could be a hit or miss kind of a place. Sometimes service is good and others not so much. Same goes for sushi.. some dishes are prepared well and next time you order the same thing is not. I don't know if it has to do with different people preparing the food but it seems that way. Hopefully they can correct the wrongs. Work on being consistent and put out good dishes every time.

This is another reason why I can't leave a good review. So not only are they the smallest sushi rolls but we ordered for pick up and this is my side salad! Really? I am sorry but I think you could have done better than this. There's more ginger dressing than salad/lettuce

UPDATE: I had to change the rating of this review to four because the Regional Manager of Sushi Maki Ciara Young reached out to us and did further investigation on the matter. She is very professional and nice and really did a great job trying to correct a wrong impression that was made. Thanks again Ciara!

Im writing this review as constructive feedback. We got this place recommended to us. we decided try your restaurant since we love sushi and like to try different places from time to time. We ordered the the 6 people family bundle. The sushi's were not fresh, the salmon in them was hard and had a weird taste, the rice was falling apart and the rolls looked like a mess when we got them. The Thai donuts were good, and we liked the condensed milk that came with it. The fried rice was not that good either, the rice was hard unlike the rice from the sushi, the chicken was hard; the veggies were not bad. The soup was not that good either, barely any flavor if I'm being honest. The rolls where burnt since they were re-fried. In all honesty the food did not feel fresh, it felt like it was made a few days ago and reheated to order. The lady I spoke on the phone with was super nice and helpful with all my question.

We walked in to this sushi maki yesterday. First of all with the virus going on, these people took a lot of precautions. I was glad about that. They have a nice customer service. The manager was super nice too and welcoming. We ordered the ocean roll sushi, teriyaki chicken poke bowl, and The Fifty sushi roll. Oh and bubble tea as well. I love their sushi, sooo good and fresh. Their bubble tea tastes really good too. Can't complain at all about this place. Def a good sushi spot in Kendall.

I love Sushi Maki!!! I have been eating at their various locations for 20 years. This Kendall restaurant is a great example of their standard of excellence we eat here weekly. And just when I thought they couldn't get better they made even more improvements to their brown rice and pad thai. The staff is extremely friendly, and the manager Claudia knows us by name. Thank you to all of the Sushi Maki family!

This is the second time I ordered takeout from here and I am very pleased with it. Everything was wonderful except for the quality of the teriyaki steak. The ribeye used was a very fatty cut and difficult to eat. The other items we ordered well made up for that though. I have to give a special shout out to Claudia who was expediting all of the takeout orders. She is extremely professional and works like a machine! I watched her handle other orders while waiting on mine and she is not only quick, she clearly takes pride in the quality of her work! Everything was well packed and ready to go in no time. I will definitely order again!

This is the best sushi place ever. The food is good, the service is excellent, and the ambiance and environment of the restaurant are just top notch. The service was nice and on time. We ordered over the phone and picked up our good. We had the Calle ocho roll and the tuna salad. The Calle ocho roll was good, with wet plantains inside it which made it have a Latin flavor. I didn't like the rice of this roll that much. I felt that it's should have been less rice, and more of the rest for the filling. The plantains should have been cut smaller. Those are little things I suggest because that's how I like it, but the flavor was good. As for the tuna bowl salad with nuts and sewed, it was amaziiiiiiing. I loved it so much. Fresh and delicious tuna, seasoned with a sauce they gave us with some ginger. Yummy!! Thank you.

When it comes to raw fish some places can be sketchy but at this spot the prices is good and the portions are even better. I always leave full and feeling like I saved money. Thank the sushi gods for this chain.

Excellent service wow. Good was great but our waiter made the experience amazing. Even my 9 year old nephew enjoyed all the food. Cute little spot, clean and great menu. Would definitely go back.

The worst sushi I have ever had. The nigiri pieces were grotesquely large with misshapen rice balls that were falling apart. The fish was cut to thick. They slathered the nigiri with mayo and other strange sauces. The wasabi had a chemical taste and the tempura tasted like it was cooked in rancid oil. Disgusting.

I was not impressed by their roll called the fifty, it was cold and insipid, although the shrimp was cooked it was tasteless. The service here is extremely slow! Something to improve. I have to give them credit for their lava shrimp appetizer which was delicious and freshly cooked. Overall, not a place I look forward to come back.

No matter how long door dash, uber eats, yelp, or the person working there tells you how long it will be until your food is ready you should double that. Food is never ready even close to when they say it is. Also, i dont know about everyone else, but I prefer the salmon in my sushi to come without bones.

I honestly debated posting review because I hate to be one of those people BUT... A few days ago I ordered sushi from here because I was really craving some and it's close to my house. When I arrived at the door a girl greeted me without her facemask on, then proceeded to touch her face and put her mask on, and then proceeded to touch my food and try to take my debit card from me. From the door I could hear other employees carrying on loud seemingly inappropriate conversations. After I got my food I asked If soy sauce was in the bag she yelled and asked another woman if they had put soy sauce in my bag. She then proceed to hand me two very tiny packets of soy sauce for my entire order. The whole experience was irritating to say the least- when I got home the sushi was underwhelming. Not worth it!

I have been coming here for years and have truly enjoyed the sushi. However, this was my first and last "to go" order. My order was missing a roll which I did not notice until I arrived home. They did not include soy sauce with any of the rolls. The fried calamari was placed in a plastic box straight out of the fryer and the box melted with the heat. The calamari was packed tight in the box. What arrived was soggy, greasy calamari with sauce that spilled all over because of the heat of the calamari. They need to invest in adequate to go packaging.
