Go here if all you care about is the taste, and want solid sushi without a 2hr long omakase. The atmosphere is nonexistent because the chef is focused on churning out sushi at a crazy pace. 15pcs of nigiri in less than 50mins is impressive.
Everything is ordered through AirRegi, even gari refills, so the only “service” here is the occasional grunt and neta name, lol. If you order extras aggressively, the price starts adding up — my bill came up to ¥14,000. Many people reasonably expect some kind of warm service at that price point, as it’s kinda a splurge, so if you come here expecting that, I can see why it’ll be a disappointment.
But if you take it as a time efficient way to compress a sushi omakase for your holiday itinerary, while saving a modest few thousand yen, and compromising on the brusque service, it actually ain’t too bad. For what it’s worth, I’m more likely to come back here than almost all the other tachiguizushi I’ve tried, as the taste doesn’t disappoint. Maybe only maybe 3 nigiri were markedly inferior to their equivalents in an average dinner omakase in the ¥15-20k range (the shima aji esp was rather nondescript, and the straw smoking on the buri was too strong).
