Sushi Mito offers high quality fish and perfectly balanced dishes. Today, I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant without a spending limit. I went right on ahead and ordered all of my favorite pieces of sushi... Mostly nigiri, but some sashimi as well.
To start us off, Thomas brought us miso soup and the ginger salad. They were refreshing and savory, giving us a good appetite for when the main course came out.
I also ordered a piece of Saba...which was perfectly crisp, but still juicy and buttery on the inside. I think it could've used a touch more salt, but it was delicious nonetheless.
I ordered quite a bit of sushi, so I won't necessarily list at all here... However I wanted to mention a few pieces in particularly.
I only got one piece of Ika (squid) in the sampler plate, but it was perfect: it gave that nice pop when biting through it, yet was still able to give that melts-creamy texture and it was beautifully white and skillfully carved.
I ordered three different kinds of Toro and bluefin tuna. to be honest well the color and look of the two different types of fish were easy to tell apart, the flavor was different in a delicate way. The blue fin was perhaps a touch sweeter, while the toro had something of a twang at the end. Both were delicious and melted on the tongue.
The hamachi's rice was dabbed with a bit of wasabi, to give it that extra kick. It was also good and fresh and had an excellent coloring.
The fatty salmon that I ordered was very rich and melted just as well as the fatty tuna. Honestly, I was surprised at the quality of all the fish.
While all the fish, itself, looked very good, The sushi wasn't exactly arranged in particularly artistic ways. The sampler plate was artistic only in that each piece was a different color. While each piece was fairly uniform in size and shape, there wasn't any real panache about the plating. Luckily, looks aren't everything- even with sushi.
When I mentioned that the fish was very good and fresh, our waiter, Thomas, let me know that the reason he suggested some of the fish to me, was because every Tuesday and Thursday they receive a "surprise" shipment from Japan with new/fresh ingredients and they never know what will be in the box! Cool- and maybe a bit scary as a sushi restaurant...
His suggestions were great too! The service really is great at sushi Mito. They refill the teas quickly and efficiently and always asked before they attempted to walk away with a plate. We actually arrived approximately 30 minutes prior to their closing time for their lunch hours. They seated us with smiles, let us know the final orders will be going in at their 15 minute mark, and were happy to help explain things to some of our newbies. On our way out, they all lined up and thanked us for our visit as we think them for the fine meal that they served us.
I definitely recommend sushi Mito... As you can see, I gave them five stars. The freshness, flavor, and wonderful sets are just a few good reasons to visit them, and again! I certainly will.
