"When owner-chef Masamichi Ohata holds forth on white, red and rosé, he’s talking about vinegared rice, not wine. He branched out with the types of rice he uses, pairing cured fish with red vinegar and white-fleshed fish with rice vinegar. Toppings are evenly divided between Toyosu and Setouchi. He delights in bringing together sushi traditions from eastern and western Japan: kasugodai with fish floss, is a Tokyo tradition, while nigiri of raw shrimp is a Kansai favourite." - Michelin Inspector

The master of pairing shari with neta. On my visit 4 different types of rice were used! Sushi is pretty large and strong flavored. Definitely will be returning here! I was informed that the restaurant is now introduction-only. Tourists can visit Ohata-san's apprentice shop which is on another floor of the same building.

We decided to have a better dinner after visiting dotonbori yesterday So Ohata, open at 6 pm, we figured if we go there at 5:30 pm and wait in line, we should be ok Well,,,, when we get there the lady told us kindly “ this place is fully booked until end of 2024 !!! Oh well,,, I wrote this just so that some of uou might want to try this place, just make sure to make a reservation way way ahead

Don’t go!!! You will not get entry nor be allowed to wait! It’s a very small place, probably only caters to their regulars. It’s a 15 mins walk from Osaka station and on a Sunday evening, there was no other eateries open in their neighborhood, so we had to walk all the way back to Osaka station neighborhood after being denied entry. Terrible! I am wondering why is this restaurant even listed in Google 🧐

何をしている時が幸せかと聞かれるとおおはたの大将の握りを食べている時と答えるほど大好きなお店⭐︎ 何が良いのか？賛否はあるがまずは味わってほしい、、 (もちろん予約困難ではあるが、、) 最近の流行りのシャリが小さくネタを覆い隠す寿司でもなく余計なことをするわけでもなく(もちろん細かい仕事はたくさん) 口に入れたら分かる、なんだろうこの幸せな感覚。美味しい、うまいという言葉すら忘れてニヤニヤしてしまいます♪ 大将のこだわりはなんといっても数種類のシャリ！ネタに合わせてシャリを使い分けられます。これがまた素晴らしい技です、、感服。。そして個人的に惚れるお言葉うちは寿司屋なんで寿司でお金いただくのでお酒はそんなたこーないです！と希少な日本酒を1合800円で北新地で出されます(1合超えてません？w) 料理屋は黙って料理で勝負！カッコ良すぎるでしょう、、、ふぅ、たまらんです。次回のご訪問はいつになるやら、、楽しみすぎて震える予定です！ご馳走様でした。大将いつも有難うございます♪

北新地にあるお寿司屋さん「おおはた」は、予約を取るのが非常に難しい人気店です。店内は、凛とした空気感が漂う、まさに大人の隠れ家といった雰囲気。カウンター席に座り、目の前で大将が握るお寿司をいただく贅沢な時間。まず驚いたのは、ネタの質の高さです。マグロ、サワラ、コハダなど、どれもこれも普通の寿司屋さんではお目にかかれないような、最高級のものが使われています。口に入れた瞬間に広がる、とろけるような舌触りと濃厚な旨味は、まさに至福のひととき。そして、もう一つ特筆すべきは、シャリへのこだわりです。なんと、ネタによって3種類ものシャリを使い分けているとのこと。それぞれのネタに合わせて最適なシャリを選ぶことで、ネタの旨味を最大限に引き出しているそうです。こんな体験は初めてで、感動しました。大将の熟練の技と、厳選された極上のネタ、そしてこだわりのシャリが織りなすハーモニーは、まさに芸術。どの一貫も、ため息が出るほどの美味しさでした。予約困難なのも納得の、まさに本物のお寿司屋さんです。
