Google
Stumbled upon this place while searching for restaurants in the area. The reviews were really good so I decided to check it out. Upon entry I was impressed with the aesthetics and decor of the restaurant, it definitely gives high class vibes. It’s intimate, relaxing and all of the employees appeared so calm. No hustle and bustle here… We arrived during happy hour which offers discounted sushi rolls and drinks. We ordered from both the regular menu and happy hour. For starters, we got Brussels Sprouts, Spicy Edamame and Chicken Gyoza. For our Entrees we ordered a few rolls which included the Shaggy Dog Roll. All items were freshly made and deeelish! Service was speedy, and our waiter was really kind and attentive. Highly Recommend!

Sushi Rebel lives up to its name in the best way. This spot isn’t your average sushi joint—it’s bold, creative, and seriously delicious. Every bite felt like a remix of classic Japanese flavors with a modern twist. The Lunch Chef’s Sushi was a standout—excellent quality fish, fresh and clean flavors, and beautifully crafted. You can really taste the care in the cuts and the rice. It’s a great deal and a perfect intro to the quality they’re working with. Service was friendly and the vibe is sleek but unpretentious—perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. Prices were fair for the quality, and portion sizes were just right. If you’re tired of the same old rolls, Sushi Rebel is the upgrade your sushi life needs.

Google
Came here two different times in the past couple months. The food was great and our servers were nice and attentive. I got the chirashi bowl each time but my family and I tried a variety of foods and enjoyed each item. The fried cheesecake with ice cream is so good!

Google
This is a hidden gem. The ambiance is amazing, so modern and nice. The food is amazing too. The kobe bites appetizers was incredible. The sushi is also so fresh and delicious. They have a chef special of 10 nigiri and a specialty roll for $52 which is amazing. And the cocktails are amazing! Everything had beautiful presentation as well

Google
This was a bit of a mixed bag here..me and a friend went around lunchtime and there was no indoor seating which is fine but it took us more time to be served and attended to. The appetizer was INCREDIBLE I shared with a friend and I had miso soup which was perfect and full of delicious mushrooms and green onions. So good. The main course was so bland I had salmon with steamed veggies and rice 🍚 no flavor, had to send it back. Overall pretty good, might come back.

Google
Oh my goodness!! If you are vegetarian this is the place to go!! The menu selection was good and so many options. All the items in the pictures are from the vegetarian section. Great service and vibe. And they have nice music playing in the background .

Google
This little oasis was some of the best sushi I had ever enjoyed. Full of flavor and rich freshness. Kudos to the chef and team.

Google
Placed an order for pickup. Overall the food was good and I will be trying them again. After AMEX announced the new perks, I looked up nearby Resy restaurants and Sushi Rebel was listed. Figured I’d try them out. The quality of sushi was great. Tasted freshly made. The lobster & shrimp rolls (with a spicy green sauce) seemed like their take on crab Rangoon almost. It was very good and I will be getting it again! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5: as I placed a Togo order, half of my order was warm/hot food and the other half was cold (sushi). I feel like they should have a different convention of packaging such. Either separate bags or maybe some type of cardboard sleeve between the two. My sushi was warm (not even room temperature) because of the lobster rolls. Which was a bit of an annoyance. I would’ve put it in the refrigerator to cool down, but by the time I got home I just wanted to have my lunch.

Yelp
Sushi is phenomenal, the rolls taste so fresh! Love the area they are located in! A5 wagyu was delicious!

Yelp
Awesome service our waitress Taylor made our cocktails and they were so good. We had the lunch chef's special with salad. And some of their signature cocktails and Martinis.

Yelp
I was blown away by this place. The ambiance, the service, and the food.... oh my!!! The sushi was simply stellar and so incredibly fresh. It is the perfect date night spot and it is right around the corner from the movies so you could easily pop in before or after the movie. Please put the word out. You will be mesmerized by the quality and freshness and OGM the presentation. I will be coming back again and again. This rebel has a cause and it is Sushi Rebel!!!

Yelp
Service is mediocre. Food is delicious and quality. The service was not what I was expecting for this establishment. The waitress spilled sauce all over the table and haphazardly cleaned it up. I really enjoyed the food tho! The quality was really good and fresh. Hats off to the chefs!

Yelp
We come here often because it's right by our office. The sushi here is fantastic. The service can be a bit slow but is always friendly. The Kobe cubes are a MUST TRY! We get them every time because they are amazingly delicious! My favorite roll is the Optimus roll. Everything here has been great. The decor is modern, chic, clean and bright. I never get tired of coming here.

Yelp
I had a great experience at sushi rebel. The food was really good and the ambiance was great. I'd definitely come back here. The tempura and dynamite shrimp were super crispy and delicious. I'd 100% recommend getting the dynamite shrimp. For my sushi rolls, I got the "7 1/2" and the "shaggy dog" the 7 1/2 was delicious! Crispy and tasty, I'd definitely get this again. The shaggy dog was good but not a standout. The vibe here was really nice. It felt very fancy and upscale. The service was pretty good too. Overall, great experience

Yelp
My mom and I arrived at the restaurant right after lunch hour, so we ended up having the entire place to ourselves. I wasn't particularly thrilled with the espresso martini, mainly because I didn't anticipate it having cream in it. However, the sushi was absolutely delightful and incredibly fresh. It was so yummy!

Kaya B.

Yelp
typically, I don't eat sushi. came here with my family, tried 8-12 different things, and was pleasantly surprised both with how delicious, fresh, and flavorful the dishes were. I especially enjoyed the kobe cubes, teriyaki beef, and the tempura rolls. the service was wonderful, waters were refilled constantly as needed & staff was very nice. the ambiance itself was sophisticated and welcoming. will definitely be back, soon!

Yelp
The sauce for the brussel sprouts did not pair well with the vegetable. It was overly sour and not a tasty kind of spice (similar to buffalo sauce). It feels like they just poured any generic hot sauce on top of brussel sprouts and called it a day. They weren't very crispy either... more on the soggy side. As for the sushi, neither the tuna nor salmon tasted fresh. The seasoning for the fish didn't taste particularly great either. As I ate the rolls I felt like the texture of the rice and fish was very off-putting for some reason. It was hard to finish. Sadly very pricy as well... I appreciated the friendly service though.

Yelp
The food was so fresh and delicious! Everything was spot on and did not disappoint! Our server, Taylor, was amazing! She knew when to approach and when we were in conversation! She was very good suggesting dishes! We will request her table next time!

Yelp
Glad to have more options in the area. A bit pricey for sure, but very nice rolls, appetizers, and small dishes. Never tried non sushi there yet. Fish seems fresh and good quality. The Kobe beef cubes with quail egg had great presentation and were tasty. Salmon yellowtail great. Wish they had more only fish fun rolls like other places nearby
google avatar

Ivan R.

Yelp
The food was very good. Our server did an adequate job informing us about the menu. I am not a huge sushi fan, so I was looking for some options. I actually just ordered the different appetizers that you see pictured. The appetizer with the quail egg was good but not over the top good. The shishito pepper's were very good. Make sure you eat them when they first come out. The lobster and shrimp appetizer was very good and I would order it again. I ordered a side salad and it was very fresh and tasty. I ordered the salmon for my wife and it was cooked perfectly for her. The potato salad that came with it was bland, and my wife felt the veggies could have been steamed a little more. I will ask for that on our next visit. My wife visited the restrooms and she said they were very clean and well stocked. Parking is free and can be accessed easily in the garage a short walk to the restaurant. The decor was trendy and appropriate for the restaurant. Overall experience was good, I could definitely see us returning soon.

Yelp
Great fresh food and fantastic service. The ambiance is nice more of a date night feel. I would definitely return to try out the happy hour next time (M-F; 3-6)

Yelp
This is such a nice restaurant in a lovely location but the customer service pretty bad! The food was good, even had a really good drink but the poor service is what's killing them. Takes forever to even get someone to come over to the table to acknowledge you. I did notice that the seating arrangements are being done on paper at the host stand which is probably why there's so much confusion. I will say it's a little on the pricey side but given the location it is what it is. Had 2 rolls, an order of fried rice and one drink for $60. It was my first time so I'd probably be willing to give it another try.
google avatar

Nikki E.

Yelp
Went here with colleagues from work. I'm not a sushi fan but there was a lot for me to like here. I loved their happy hour bar food and drink offerings. I loved the spicy edamame and the avocado bites, a tasty morsel. They had an interesting drink menu but I was happy with my Baileys on the rocks. The chicken yakitori was quality, but uninteresting as it was just skewered chicken with a primarily soy-based sauce. I would definitely go back (especially for happy hour). The decor was fresh, modern and inviting.

Yelp
Sushi rebel has some good sushi however, lately every time I order my food it's incorrect and when I approached the manager about it, he's not very attentive so I haven't returned lately. Every time I order the millennium for some reason something extra in it I'm not sure what it is, but I even checked the menu to see if that's supposed to be there and it wasn't. It was my favorite sushi spot in spring however I'm willing to drive to Houston to get fresh sushi with great service. If they could get a new manager, that's more attentive and considerate maybe the restaurant wouldn't be going downhill in my opinion. The ambience is great though and the waiters as well as the hostess always have the best service!

Yelp
This restaurant is conveniently located in City Place. We dined here prior to attending dueling pianos at City Place plaza. First time we attempted to dine here months ago, they were packed and told us they met they occupancy limit. Didn't indicate a wait time though. Second time we attempted, we got in. Service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was modern and beautiful. Entrance to the bathroom was pretty neat. Facility was clean. The food was good. We tried the Kobe hot wok table side, and it was good. The portion was a bit small for the price. The sushi was good. Drink options were good as well. Parking is either right in front, or short walk.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and I love this restaurant! The lighting is so nice at night, and it's very clean and decorated well on the inside. The waiters are always very friendly and helpful, and parking outside is super easy. The Shaggy Dog and 7 1/2 rolls are two of my favorites and I order them every time I come here! My friends and I also ordered a spicy tuna roll and spicy edamame, which were both delicious as well.

Yelp
You don't have to be a rebel to love this sushi!! Possibly our new favorite sushi place. Staff & chef were so friendly & engaging. Lots of love & great suggestions. We had: spicy edamame (ok); brussels sprouts; kobe cubes; passion crudo; C-4 & Lickety Split rolls, sashimi sampler & steelhead salmon sashimi. Yum, yum & yum! Sit at sushi bar to engage with the amazing team (chef) preparing the meals. Super awesome atmosphere & vibe. Nice happy hour menu as well.

Am M.

Yelp
Didn't even stay for food. No hostess for a while. Bar lady and server had attitude. When asked if you have a specific item and you reply with, "we have [xyz]" that is not answering the yes or no question asked.
google avatar

Jeff T.

Yelp
I had read the reviews and the theme was generally overpriced for what you get. I thought, well sushi always seems expensive to me if I am judging based on quantity. After dining here last night, I have to agree with this who said overpriced for what you get. I do t believe they were only talking quantity but quality as well. My wife, our son and I had several things. We started with Dynamite Shrimp which frankly were just meh at best. The kimchi Brussels were very good. My son had the truffle tuna, the Kobe Cubes and the A5. He hammered all three and ordered a second round of the truffled tuna. My wife and I had the Foie Gras and it was very good. She had sashimi and no issues. I had a California roll and a roll with waygu. Both were underwhelming. I mean, very little flavor. This is what I would expect from a grocery store. We were still hungry and so we ordered the Kobe cubes and they were the best thing we had only followed by the lunch Brussels. The bill was in fact way overpriced. I could get stellar sushi back in DFW for way less. Would not return.

Yelp
Like having an Uptown Sushi in my office. My heart is whole. :) This is only the second time I've eaten here since it opened, which is truly shocking. Everything is great. Friendly service. Fresh fish. Appetizing options. The BEST seaweed salad in the greater Houston area. Think this will become my new, solo lunch getaway spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Food esp appetizers were so good! Maria who helped us was super accommodating with vegan and vegetarian food! Made special sauces and substitutions that were great! Music was amazing! Will def return!

Yelp
Nice place. Food was good but I wasn't a fan of the service. I've been there and seated and will watch workers go to the back, front, behind me, in front of me etc etc without ever speaking to me. I just wish service was better because everything else was pretty solid.

T W.

Yelp
Sushi Rebel has the best sushi in the area. Great ambiance and layout. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I've also hosted two big parties for dinner and they did an amazing job. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Kehmia T.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday night before closing! Nice and intimate - great for date night if you're in the area. Started off with the spicy edamame and lobster & shrimp rolls! The edamame was pretty good but if you don't eat the rolls quickly enough they do get cold... I wasn't expecting them to be creamy (could be my fault for not reading the menu though) but they were good ! As for the sushi rolls- tried the shaggy dog & lickety split... very delicious! Drinks- my friend had a Lychee martini and I tried some sake (you know to get the full experience) Will be back!

Arina K.

Yelp
Best of the best in Houston. Yep. And I have been in most cozy and expensive sushi places in Houston But after eat here not need more words.
google avatar

Troy C.

Yelp
It had everything you want in a sushi restaurant. Neat and clean environment with friendly staff and of course delicious food. I forgot to take pictures but be ordered spicy edamame, seaweed salad, and three different kinds of sushi. We will be back for more.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
This is a very nice establishment. The food is really good. The service was also excellent. The wagyu roll was simply amazing with the smoky flavor. The lemon drop martinis are really strong and flavorful. They do have a full bar so you can order whatever you like. The restrooms are divided by the sinks, so when you're done using the male and female restroom, you wash your hands together in the coed area. Also parking in front of the establishment is a little rough so you might have to park in the back in the parking structure.
google avatar

Pam M.

Yelp
Food was great. Nice atmosphere. We ordered spicy edamame with garlic and it was delicious. Fish was fresh and worth the price. Service was very slow. If service was better, I would've given 5 stars.
google avatar

Amber W.

Yelp
Very good! We found this gem randomly and enjoyed our meal a lot. I met a friend for a mid-week lunch so the restaurant was empty, but it is very pretty and clean. Our food was fresh and delicious.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
We had the shaggy dog and 2 drinks. Shaggy dog was excellent, perfect, and delicious! First time here but definitely going back! Nice place too big and not too small.
google avatar

Esdrey M.

Yelp
Service was not so good our server only came to check on us once and my husband tried to call him and he completely ignored him, food was okay nothing special.

Paige G.

Yelp
Happy hour was a hit! I enjoyed the appetizers and the mood was elegant. Excellent service. Sushi tasted so fresh. Found our new date night spot!
google avatar

Brittney B.

Yelp
I come here often. My waitress phoebe was amazing and so was the sushi chef Francisco. This time the sushi was the best I've had since coming here. The pictures will speak for themself.
google avatar

Stephanie V.

Yelp
We loved the food here and the service was outstanding as well. The ambiance is perfect for date night. The bathroom is also a must see.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Sarah is a great bar tender and employee and Lawrence as well, Alejandro's playlist is legit and slaps. Sarah is the best employee they have, very attentive and timely. Great conversation and service.
google avatar

Vin N.

Yelp
My wife was getting her nails done so I stopped by Sushi Rebel for a beer and a snack. I ended up ordering 4 rolls - rainbow, salmon, tuna, and scallop. They were all quite delicious. Very friendly bartender service as well! I also noticed that they have Hibiki 21 here (pretty rare to find).
google avatar

Alyssa U.

Yelp
Would definitely come back! Fairly on a Monday lunch time. Vibes-5/5 (business casual/semi fancy even during lunch; the interior was gorgeous) Food-4/5 (chirashi bowl was yummy, came with miso soup during lunch; sushi roll -forgot the name- was good too, not too much rice; everything tasted fresh) Service-3.5/5 (even though everyone was kind, it was hard to get anyone's attention; the server came once to check on us and we had to call someone else to get the check) Price- 3/5 (fair price; definitely a $$-$$$; spent ~$50 for 2 dishes!) I would deff come back Bc the food was bomb!
google avatar

Ted H.

Yelp
One of the better Sushi restaurants that I have ever been to. Excellent amount of choices and you can just taste the quality of the food. I limited my choices to the happy hour items saving about $2.00 per item.
google avatar

Minda W.

Yelp
Food was SO fresh. Service was wonderful everyone was so nice. The drinks were really good and different. Atmosphere was clean, nice music not too loud. We will be back.

Yelp
Had dinner at this location when it first opened, didn't really remember what I had I just remembered the drinks were great. I decided to have lunch there today and I have to say that I definitely recommend. Started off with 2 signature cocktails the cucumber martini and the gun smoke margarita. Very tasteful and fresh for the cucumber martini and the mezcal in the gun smoke margarita was bold and mixture was refreshing. I started off with the lobster and shrimp rolls, edamame, and Kimchi brussel sprouts. The edamame was nice and salty, the lobster and shrimp rolls were delicious, and the kimchi vinaigrette in the brussel sprouts was amazing. Then I finished off with the beef takaki roll and the lickety split. Both were very different but unique in there own way. The lickety split had soft shell crab, Spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, topped with eel sauce and Japanese mayo. The beef takaki roll included spicy crab mix, cucumber, A5 wagyu which was so good it has this smoked flavor to it, topped with wasabi cream sauce and wasabi tobiko. Overall the drinks are great the food is amazing and no complaints on the service. Definitely recommend.

Aundrea C.

Yelp
Great Sushi all around, very fresh and well plated. However, there is a team member that makes the experience a bit gross, tbh. He has the same shirt on every time we come here that has both arm pits torn open. Kinda makes the experience unappetizing. We've dined here many times and it's the same thing each time. You'll notice it right away as well as his pants that are many inches too short. A new uniform would be a nice touch.
google avatar

Rich T.

Yelp
Nice place but service was lacking and the food was average. The ambience is modern and upbeat. Decent enough for clients if it is on the company card.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Mhhh. It was fine. The place itself was nice. Sushi wasn't the best I've ever had and it was pricey. They also rush you out at their closing time...That's local for you I guess. Too many choices for this to be the place I think about when I'm in the mood for sushi.
google avatar

Alexsandra N.

Yelp
Beautiful lighting at night. Quick and friendly service. I got my usual spicy edamame, nigiri, and a roll. It was all delicious! Fresh tasting fish and with service. It was on a Monday night, so not a lot of people, but I definitely recommend as a fun happy hour or as a nice dinner with someone. Toss area is newly developed. I'm bout sure how long it's been here, but it's still not as popular as market star and other places alike, so take advantage while you can.

Aimee E.

Yelp
We've been here multiple times and we're always shocked that it's not busier. We've eaten at many similar places and feel that the food here is tasty. Our favorite in the Woodlands/Spring area. Spicy edamame, kanpachi crudo, Kobe cubes, red snapper nigiri, 7 1/2 custom with mango and cream cheese YUM. We always try something different and even if it's not our personal favorite it's still always good and fresh. They are always so accommodating and it's a beautiful restaurant! You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Judith R.

Yelp
Highly recommend it! The sushi was outstanding, the waitress was very attentive in a relaxed ambiance. I would say mainly corporate during the day but at night you see families. I've asked for Maria the waitress and bartender depending on the day, she makes you feel right at home. Her beef sushi recommendation was the best... I think that's what it was called. Everything that she has recommended is delicious. My kids and enjoyed our dinner there.., been back a few times since.
google avatar

Briana W.

Yelp
OMG!! The food, the service, the ambiance - EVERYTHING was perfect. My brother recommended them while we were visiting for a family event and WOW! Sushi Rebel did not disappoint. The ceviche, the hot rock, gyoza, spicy fried rice, spicy tuna roll, sashimi, - we tried so much stuff!! Everything was perfection - presentation: gorgeous, taste: amazing, service: 100%. Aaaand we met some pretty fun folks at the table nearby. Thanks Sushi Rebel for an amazing dining experience!!
