An Exceptional Dining Experience! Our recent visit was truly outstanding, largely thanks to Genesis, our server. We'll be sure to request her on our next visit. We were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink, a lovely start to the evening. Every dish, from the appetizers to the sushi and sashimi, was incredibly fresh and delicious. The atmosphere, vibe, service, and food were all excellent. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be returning!

Had a great dining experience at Sushi Roku. The fluke kumquat appetizer was fresh and unique—perfectly balanced flavors. The White Lotus roll was a standout: beautifully presented and delicious. Cocktails were creative and well-made, adding a nice touch to the meal. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and ambiance make it worth it for a special night out. Pet-friendly for patio seats.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Roku in Newport Beach, and it was an unforgettable culinary experience! As a sushi enthusiast, I was blown away by the exceptional quality and creativity of the dishes. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere. The modern decor and sleek design of the restaurant set the tone for a sophisticated and intimate dining experience. But the real star of the show was the sushi. Oh, the sushi! We ordered a variety of dishes, including the spicy tuna roll, the salmon sashimi, and the crab hand roll. Each piece of sushi was expertly crafted and presented, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that melted in our mouths. Overall, I would highly recommend Sushi Roku to anyone who loves sushi. With its exceptional quality, creative dishes, and intimate atmosphere, it's a must-visit destination for sushi enthusiasts and foodies alike. Highlights: - Exceptional quality and creativity of sushi dishes - Fresh, high-quality ingredients and expert presentation - Delicious appetizers with bold and innovative flavors - Intimate atmosphere and modern decor

We stopped in after a nice afternoon at Fashion Island, drawn in by the dessert sushi photos online. The space is bright, with plenty of parking, though the floors throughout the whole restaurant were oddly sticky—especially near the bathrooms, which seemed otherwise clean. It was so sticky , my shoes got pulled off my feet. Service was visibly uneven. Our waitress left mid-order to attend to another table, she said was receiving VIP service, and didn’t return much during our meal. Other staff brought our food and helped with the check, and we appreciated their effort. The dessert sushi we saw online was never offered. We truly liked the food, buzzers, and male waiter who stepped in as we needed attendance. Our food came later than the "ViP" tables food , even though we ordered ahead of them. Some of our dishes came so late that we already put our chopsticks and napkins aside as we assumed they forgot about it. The bill ended up significantly higher than expected because a gratuity was added by the waitress without our input. The waitress handed her the device and requested a signature. My friend, visiting from Germany, wasn’t familiar with tipping here and didn’t realize what had happened. But she asked me in germany how the bill the male waiter brought was different from what this lady now wanted. When I looked at it , I saw that she had added a 20 tip. We would have gladly tipped according to effort—especially the other staff—but clarity would’ve gone a long way. We wanted to love it , and the review would've looked different if we weren't placed into the waitresses' two class service. The experience fell extremely short. Hope this helps improve future service. .

Google
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Sushi Roku! The ambiance is sleek and stylish, perfect for a date night or special evening out. Every dish we tried was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented the yellowtail sashimi and baked crab hand roll were standouts. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. Cocktails were also on point! Definitely one of the best sushi spots in town can’t wait to come back!

Google
Everything was great but the menu prices. I guess it's because they have to pay the Irvine Conpany lots of rent and taxes. Over the last year we did notice that the sushi rolls have gotten Smaller and the prices have gotten Bigger..The chicken teriyaki was a joke . Everytime we order it the chicken gets smaller and very few potatoes. Whimpy Whimpy Whimpy. Get a clue management.

Google
Fantastic selection of 🍣 sushi. Fluke Kumqwat with yuzu vinaigrette surprised. Amberjack sashimi followed Rainbow Roll (off menu). Bartenders gave Great Recommendations. Worth the price of admission.

Yelp
This is just the BEST restaurant in OC. We had my husband's birthday party here and couldn't have been happier with the food and service. juni made sure it was the perfect evening

Yelp
We sit at Sushi Bar. Always fantastic flavor combinations and delicious fresh fish. So many choices we never leave disappointed and always leave full and happy. Sushi chefs are great and prepare even special requests perfectly. Great service, fun place.

Yelp
I've been to a few Sushi Rokus and this one is likely the nicest looking and most spacious one! And the location inside Fashion Island is a bit plus - that is, in case you overeat, you can "walk it off" easily in the nice mall. Most items on their menu are delicate and delicious-- delicate means the portion sizes are often small; and delicious means you may want more! We started the meal with some sweet warm sake and vegetable tempura, and followed that with some sashimi and sushi, and finished with rib eye steak and salmon teriyaki. We loved all the food; but the palm-sized rib eye steak was a little disappointing: great tasting but a bit small. The salmon was well seasoned and cooked just right and generous in size so if you're hungry, that might be a good choice. Service was great, and for a busy Saturday night, it wasn't easy - I could see the staff working hard to ensure everyone was taken care of. Overall a nice dining experience at a pleasant location!

Yelp
Great experience at sushi Roku!! After a friend recommended it, made a reservation just in case but got in early on a weekday and didn't need it. Good variety in the menu and the sushi/sashimi is NEXT LEVEL. The garnish is great, solid options, strong cocktail list!

Yelp
This place does it right. I typically sit at the bar And order sushi and the skewers. It's so fresh and delicious. Service is always good even though it's normally busy. Good upbeat vibe.

Yelp
We spent the weekend at Newport Beach and decided on having some sushi at Sushi Roku. This restaurant has a nice vibe and a great spot for date night. There's a full bar area with TV's, private room with fireplace for private parties, and plenty of seating. We ordered the Deluxe sushi plate, spider roll, Ikura sushi, edamame, and waygu appetizer. The Waygu beef appetizer was so good, melts in your mouth. The sushi was good, but we have had much better. I think this is a nice date spot to have some good sushi. Overall, a good experience. Happy Nom Nom!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! My boyfriend surprised me with a date night and chose this spot based on reviews. He made reservations but we were able to be seated a little early. It's a smaller restaurant but very nice. The dimly lit decor really sets a romantic, sophisticated ambiance (although makes it hard to get good Yelp pics lol). Everyone was friendly and provided a great experience. We ended up getting two appetizers, three rolls, one cocktail, and a beer for about $160. Pricer than your average sushi joint, but also way more upscale and unique. All of the cocktails look delicious but I wanted to sub vodka for tequila in the Shoman Glory and they very very accommodating. It was one of those drinks that taste smooth but creeps up on you. I enjoys it. Drinks are a bit on the pricier side, and that was my only "complaint" about the whole night. For food, we tried the Fluke Kumquat based on Yelp reviews. We aren't that adventurous and we're a little apprehensive but WOW! The flavors are unexpected and work well together. The citrus and salt create a big flavor bomb. Very refreshing. And the pretty pansy on top is a nice touch. I really loved the Hamachi Serrano, too. It was my favorite item of the night. I'm a huge fan of the garlic yuzu ponzu sauce and the serranos aren't spicy. We got three rolls for our main course and liked them all, in the following order: Tuna Jalapeño, White Lotus, Senshi. Every roll was fresh and the right size to be satisfying but not make you feel overly stuffed. My boyfriend appreciated the rolls aren't filled with a bunch of imitation crab, just quality fish. And all of the sauces on every item we tried were exceptional. Also worth noting, food comes out so quickly there's almost no wait. The White Lotus roll took a little longer but it contains popcorn shrimp tempura so that's understandable. Overall, our visit was wonderful and we will be back. In fact, my boyfriend was looking up all of the locations later that night and wants to try the other SoCal restaurants, too!

Yelp
Great service and great food! The appetizers we got were amazing, particularly the Brussel sprout chips and spicy tuna hanabi, though the yellow tail hanabi was good too. Some of us got the deluxe sushi plate and some got the chefs choice (which is probably most akin to omakase). The chocolate law cake was good but they churro was the best, especially with the accompanying ice cream. Good amount of seating and nice vibe.

Yelp
Love love love Sushi Roku. My 4 and 1 year old also love dining here which is a huge plus. We usually start with the cauliflower, brussel sprouts, hamachi, salad, and edamame. Followed by chicken fried rice, spicy tuna roll and tuna jalapeño roll. Hits the spot every time. Consistent quality and service. They are also pretty quick with getting dishes out which is very much appreciated when we have little ones with us. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Flavor is always A+.

Yelp
PARKING (3/5): It's at FASHION ISLAND, if you go at night or weekends it's always packed! Give yourself extra time to circle and find parking. AMBIANCE (4/5): It's dimly lit once the sun goes down & a few fire chambers for ambiance. Trendy & chic. SERVICE (5/5): I've always had excellent service when I come here. FOOD (4/5): $13 BRUSSELS SPROUT CHIPS: The best vegetable chips you'll ever eat. Lightly coated in Tempura batter & fried until crispy. $22 SEARED SALMON: Togarashi seasoning (spicy), avocado, cilantro, jalapeño. LOVED THIS DISH! So different. $25 FLUKE KUMQUAT: so flavorful! Amazing fish, citrus with the perfect amount of salt. ORDER IT! $22 TUNA JALAPEÑO (no jalapeño): Spicy tuna, avocado, yuzu (lemon sauce), topped w/ tuna sashimi. I love that they use very little rice. Can't go wrong with spicy tuna. $24 KATANA ROLL: I honestly didn't care for this roll at all. Would NOT order again. $32 TOKUBETSU ROLL: did not taste truffle at all. I liked the yuzu flavor, but overall this roll was unimpressive. Did not finish. $13 BAKED CRAB HAND ROLL: Fresh warm crab wrapped in soy paper. So much crab meat! Delicious. SUSHI THEM ALL: $24 Waygu - ABSOLUTE MUST! WORTH IT! $11 Japanese Hotate (Scallop) $9 Hamachi (yellowtail) $9 CHILEAN SEABASS SKEWER: soft & buttery $12 WAYGU BEEF SKEWER: HATED THIS! Not tender & overcooked. Do not order! Their Waygu sushi is AMAZING, order that instead! $22 BEEF RIBEYE WRAPPED ASPARAGUS: thick asparagus. Slightly sweet soy sauce. Wish it was filet & would've been a winning dish. I'd pass on this one. OVERALL (4/5): I love this place & will continue to come back! Some dishes didn't blow me away, but I overall love the food, service & ambiance of this place. Great quality for the price. Obviously, more on the pricey side, but worth it!

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's dinner and as we were being seated, I was given a rose which was such a nice touch. I loved the ambiance of this place which tipped my rating to a 4 instead of a 3. The food here is good, but nothing great. My boyfriend and I got: - truffle lobster roll (2/5): it didn't feel like all the flavors went together - calamari (4/5): the outer coating was delicious, reminded me more of wings than calamari - lamb & beef skewers (3/5) - Katana roll (2.5/5): the fish felt more like ground meat in this roll - Zen Garden mocktail (5/5): such a refreshing drink, I'd have this anytime - Everything Zen cocktail (4/5) Overall, I'd come here for a special date night for the vibes, not really the food

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 This is a solid sushi spot if you want to be more casual, or more dressed up. I've come here for both occasions and it's always a reliable spot to bring anyone. I've had birthdays here, date nights, and a casual sit down after shopping around Fashion Island. The food is not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's good enough to consistently come back to have a nice dinner. My favorite roll is the gensai roll. It has a perfect combination of spicy, crunchy, and fattyness from the salmon. None of the other rolls really stand out to me - they're all around the same. Can't really go wrong with any of them, just depends on your personal preference. The toro in the toro jalapeño roll was subpar. For $20 a roll, I expect it to be premium, fatty fish but it falls short. Nobu's is definitely better. My favorite appetizer is the beef ribeye wrapped asparagus. It comes out on a hot stone and it's a pretty good portion. Shishito peppers are okay - not very spicy and some pieces have no sauce while others are drenched. Favorite cocktail is tropical hibiscus. Sweet and strong. The service here is amazing every time. The hosts are nice and the waitresses are always friendly and attentive. Definitely the most consistent service from any restaurant. Ambiance is amazing, there's indoor and outdoor seating. There's booths, tables, bar seating. It's dark and romantic and the place is nicely decorated. Bathroom is always clean even though it's small. Weekends have a DJ. The only downside is this place is located in a shopping plaza so there's limited parking unless you valet. Be prepared to park further. Overall, solid sushi restaurant for any occasion.

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's day and had a great experience! I reserved for 5pm and was able to be seated 30 minutes early. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The decor and atmosphere really set the mood for a romantic and tasteful dinner. The calamari was a light and crispy, and the squid was tender. The sashimi and rolls tasted fresh and had hints of other flavors that paired nicely. My only gripe is that I wish these items were slightly more elevated, since I've experienced similar quality for a fraction of the price.

Yelp
Love this sushi spot! Especially the sashimi with truffle. The service is always very good and the ambiance is very romantic for a sushi spot. delicious stop anytime

Yelp
Sushi Roku in Newport Beach is one of our go-to spots for sushi. I had thought I wrote a review a long time ago, but when I visited Sushi Roku the other day and went into the Yelp app to see what we've ordered in the past, I realized I hadn't yet shared our amazing experiences at Sushi Roku! We make reservations here at least 5 - 6 times per year and the service, high quality of sashimi and sushi, and ambiance of the restaurant is always consistent. My partner and I decided to do our last dinner of 2023 at Sushi Roku this year because we knew how much we would enjoy it. For drinks, I ordered a glass of Prosecco and my partner ordered a Sapporo light and 12 oz sake. We always start with spicy edamame with garlic followed by the Hamachi Serrano. The Yuzu Ponzu sauce is incredible and the thinly sliced serrano on top of the hamachi is not overly spicy. We also order the 4 piece Hanabi, which IMO is the best I've had. The crispy rice pieces are not too big and not too small, making it easy to eat while still feeling like you're getting a good amount of spicy tuna (I don't like when the crispy rice is so big that I have to take 2 bites per piece, so these bite size pieces are perfect!). For rolls, we got the spicy scallop roll and soft-shell crab roll. These are staples for us here. The scallops are so creamy and delicious and we always love a good soft-shell crab. This time we also tried the Tokubetsu roll, which was amazing! The combo of the toro on top of the roll with the sea bream, truffle pesto, and yuzu vinaigrette was incredible. We ended the night with 2 pieces of Uni Sushi and 2 pieces of Salmon Sushi. Our bill here always is pricey, but it's worth it for the high quality service and food! On this most recent visit, we were actually overcharged on accident and our service caught it and brought us a new bill. We appreciated the attention to detail and honesty.

Yelp
I came back again this past weekend and everything was still so amazing. Food was good and service was great. I love the ambiance of this place and it makes for a really great time!

Yelp
While this sushi spot is on the pricier side, you truly are paying for quality. Everything I tried was so delicious. I had the brussel sprout chips which are a MUST have, I've had better popcorn shrimp tempura but theirs was alright, and the Katana and senshi rolls were so good we ordered them twice. We also got an order of the yellowtail sushi with truffle oil and wow it was soo good! Also if you like martinis you have to try the lychee martini, it was incredible!! Our waitress was totally on top of it making sure we always had water and whatever we needed asap. And the inside of the restaurant was very nice, not somewhere you want to show up in jeans and a hoodie.
google avatar

Yelp
I could really relate to the review posted by Dave L. I had the same experience and if anyone has read my other sushi posts, I am allergic to small cuts combined with high prices and this place hits that spot. The setting is very nice and the service was excellent so no issues there. The food was fine. Nothing really stood out as it was standard sushi fare. Just please increase the size for the price. See photo of the Sushi Plate for $36 bones. Value is not there IMHO.
google avatar

Shadi A.

Yelp
Place is okay a little below average. Location is very convenient and nice. I honestly think they compromise on quality and quantity to keep prices on the menu okay but you have to order quite a few things to get full. What really bothered me was I have come twice and both times got seated by the sushi bar and the ambiance there is terrible. The light from the sushi bar is too bright and gives it an off vibe. I also had a reservation and asked to be seated elsewhere but it didn't help. Ribeye Wrapped Asparagus-delicious. Brussel Sprouts--tastes great; small quantity. Hanabi avocado-taste good not great Garden-hands down the Worst drink I have ever received at a nice restaurant. Tuna Jalapeno Roll-clean cut roll Gensai-clean cut roll Carnival Cake- presentation was a 10 but I once again have never tasted a lower quality dessert at a nice restaurant. Strawberries were pre-bought strawberry compute and cheesecake was a cheap pre-bought item not sure who they are fooling here. Hopefully will remember my review and never return. I saw a party of 6 here for a special occasion squeezed in a small booth--would avoid coming for anything nice unless you have your table area guaranteed.

Yelp
Nice service and atmosphere for sushi at Fashion Island! The spaces are comfortable and well apportioned, with ample seating indoors and outdoors. Solid selection of signature sushi and sashimi dishes, more set up for sharing than individual dishes.

Yelp
Feels like Sushi Roku has only gotten better with every visit! This time, we visited on a busy Saturday night, so we sat at the sushi bar, and the sushi chef was hilarious to talk to and had a great sense of humor. Our waitress was friendly and efficient as well! The quality was even better than I remembered! This time, we ordered: POPCORN SHRIMP: a must-order - that miso glaze is addictively delicious, the batter is light and crispy, and I love that this appetizer includes not only tasty shrimp but also sliced asparagus and mushrooms. LOVE! MISO EGGPLANT DENGAKU: first time trying this dish and it was very tasty! If you like eggplant, you'll love how tender the rich and creamy eggplant is, and the miso glaze pairs perfectly with eggplant as well. BAKED COD: a perfectly cooked fish that has delicious and decadent flakes of fatty goodness that melt in your mouth! The miso cuts through the fatty fish and it's perfectly balanced by sweet and savory. This dish never disappoints at Sushi Roku. DELUXE SUSHI PLATE: a glorious assortment of fresh nigiri sushi: yellowtail, tuna, salmon, shrimp, albacore, scallop, sea bream, toro jalapeno cut roll, and your choice of spicy tuna cut roll or baked crab cut roll. So fresh and delicious, and pretty good bang for buck when compared with other high-end sushi places. All in all, Sushi Roku is a great option if you want to treat yourself at Fashion Island!

Yelp
I'm a super picky sushi gal with high standards. I hate 90% of the sushi in OC. This place was amazing! King Salmon from Norway was vibrant in color and delicious. The chef made us whatever we wanted (that was not on the menu). Thank you!!

Yelp
We went to Sushi Roku to celebrate our anniversary. Our server was exceptional she provided us with great suggestions and brought us the most wonderful desserts. The food was delicious as usual!

Yelp
Great service, nice atmosphere, and some stand out dishes but be ready to pay the premium pricing. My favorites were the Brussels sprout chips, Chilean Sea Bass skewer, baked crab hand roll, and Hanabi spicy tuna on crispy rice. Would definitely come back for special occasions, but too pricey to go regularly.

Yelp
Elle was our amazing server! She suggested great options, helped us choose wisely, is very accommodating & super friendly. My galpals & I celebrated a birthday during brunch. Everyone enjoyed the food. The libations were very tasty!

Yelp
Yum yum yum! Sushi Roku is such a cute trendy place in fashion island. My friend and I went to celebrate a birthday and we were happy with our choice. They have indoor and patio seating with nice vibes. They have a pretty extensive list of sake and cocktails and there were so many good choices! We both got the Smokin Yuzu which was a mezcal based drink with yuzu and grapefruit. Presentation was great and taste was even better! For food we shared the chicken fried rice and tuna jalapeño roll. The food was amazing and the quality of the sushi was fantastic. Our service was great! Can't wait to go back and try another yummy cocktail.

Yelp
It was an elevated dining experience in every possible way. The food was extraordinary! They only serve the finest & freshest fish and it was evident with every single bite. Mouth watering dishes, fun ambience, paired with first class service & impeccable style. It's a must visit in #orangecounty! They have a full bar serving tasty specialty cocktails and have a DJ Friday-Sat evenings Here's what we had! Beef Ribeye Wrapped Asparagus Shishito Japanese Peppers oyster sauce, garlic, sesame oil Hamachi Serrano garlic, yuzu ponzu Organic Garden Salad pear, almonds, yuzu ginger dressing Signature rolls: Gensai, Tuna jalapeño, White Lotus Specialty cocktails: Everything zen, Shinjuku Gardens, Toki Tamashii, Urshima old fashioned 327 NEWPORT CENTER DRIVE, NEWPORT BEACH, CA

Yelp
First time at Sushi Roku. The service was great, however the food didn't really live off to its hype. I tried a number of appetizers. I had the edamame, the Brussels sprout chips, the shishito peppers and the eggplant. They seemed a little too heavy and greasy.

Yelp
First time going to this restaurant and everything was amazing! From the food to the service it was a 10/10 experience. Lena was our server and she was amazing ! The gm Robert came by our table as well to make sure we were having a delightful experience which it was. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
What a great experience. Sushi was fresh and amazing. Ordered an extra order of yellowtail at the end because it was so amazing. Rolls were interesting and different compared to the usual fair! The Veuve Clicquot was a perfect pairing with the sushi. Marcella, our server was magnificent. Not only was her service on point, she ran all the way across the parking lot to give us the bag we forgot at our table.

Yelp
This place is so bomb ! The first time I tried was in Vegas and that location is the best!! However, the fried rice here and the Wagyu Beef Skewer is yummy.

Hema K.

Yelp
I love this place! Me and my friend came here for a dinner date on a Friday evening. Reservations are highly recommended as this place gets packed. Parking gets challenging around this neighborhood so plan well. After sometime in the evening the DJ starts spinning cool music inside the restaurant. I loved the decor. Perfect ambiance for date night and special occasions. Although I did notice that the tables were crammed so close that it might not be private. Gosh I loved everything that we had ordered. There was one with asparagus rolled in beef something. So delish. Crispy rice appetizer was yum. Overall just go here. It is vegan friendly, pescatarian friendly (obviously). Not sure about vegetarians though. Oh and their dessert is such a delight. We ordered their cotton candy something. Lovely and quite an entrance with its arrival.

Yelp
The heart of every sushi restaurant is their sushi bar. It's the heart of the body of the restaurant, it explains the level of success, or health of the restaurant. Examine the energy, vibrancy, joy, delicacy of the work being done, and of course, the product: beautiful sushi. This restaurant has everything: beautiful decor, location, excellent service and a full bar. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who took us to our booth. The service was amazing. The food options have changed. They do not have a lot of the items you see on Yelp. They do not have some chicken dishes, or rolls you see on the internet. The size and portion of the rolls is minimal, to be nice about it. They are very small. I glance over to the sushi bar, there were three chefs and no patrons. Three guys cutting fish and talking with no one sitting there eating sushi. That, so me, is a huge red flag that sushi is not what this place is known for. On the positive side, our waitress was excellent. The manager was also very nice and attentive. This place offers no Bento Boxes for dinner, no chicken or beef teriyaki,, Yaki soba, or udon. Five stars for everything besides the food. It is very expensive to get enough food to make a meal. This place just didn't deliver with the food.

Yelp
This review is based on our lunch experience today and based on what we order and our personal opinions. Ruku is our regular sushi lunch spot when we are in the Fashion Island mall. We arrived around 11.30 am when the restaurant opened. We were greeted and seated immediately since there was no wait. If you want to have a date night, I would make a reservation! Food: My husband is VEGAN, and Roku offers a variety of options for him so we both can enjoy. Vegan: Avocado hanabi (without cheese) Avocado hand cut roll , Brussels sprouts (a must!) For myself, I got spicy miso soup and my favorite crab cut roll (5/5) spicy scallops cut roll (5/5) and for drink I got a zen garden mocktail which was refreshing. I enjoy every single dish, and if you love crab, try the crab hand roll I prefer as a cut roll, but it's taste all the same . Spicy scallops are awesome as well super fresh with a little kick from the hot sauce. Overall, Roku is not a traditional sushi restaurant, but they offers a variety of good quality sushi and other non-Japanese dishes. You pay for the location and the atmosphere. Service is great, and it's an ideal spot for you date night , business meeting, or a lunch stop before and / or after your shopping trip

Yelp
Had a great time here celebrating my birthday with our neighbors. All the food was fresh and delicious. We were seated on the beautiful patio, with heaters, but it could get a bit chilly, so make sure to take a jacket. The service was friendly and attentive. Our waitress was able to balance an entire tray of (heavy) drinks while taking notes and jotting down our appetizer selections. Obviously a lot of practice. One thing stands out though... especially because I would probably never had ordered it. It was a spicy tuna roll with jalapeno. VERY tasty. I can imagine it tasting different if the jalapeno was spicy, but it was literally PERFECT. At first I thought it was celery because it was so crisp. My husband said he liked the crab roll wrapped in rice paper. We shared a 4 piece order of Chutoro blue fin tuna belly, which, of course stole the show and as soon as I put it in my mouth, I had wished that I saved it for last. TOTALLY AMAZING. We ate mostly sushi and sashimi dishes but the asparagus wrapped with thin shabu meat was delicious also...and tried 2 of their delicious, well presented desserts, complete with a firecracker type "birthday candle". Very impressive! This place is huge inside. I even got lost trying to get back to the table after using the facilities LOL. The sushi bar is huge and the ambiance is fantastic in every section. A great experience.

Yelp
Great little (actually pretty big) restaurant. Just had a small feel to it (which is good). Austin our server knew the menu very well and checked on us the whole evening to make sure all was well. The food (especially the sushi) was very fresh. To top it off...actually had a real live DJ...very nice vibe.

Yelp
Sushi Roku delivered exceptional food and service last night. Despite a brief seating delay, the manager's kindness made up for it. The dishes were delicious, the service impeccable. Leaving happy and full, we're eager to return soon!

Yelp
Food: amazing. I inhaled our dinner. We ate everything and drank everything. I'm sure you don't want a picture of an empty table. Service. Friendly, and fast. Ambiance: chill, just the way I like it.

Yelp
Very overpriced sushi rolls, way too loud, waitress was looking elsewhere the entire time I was ordering.

Yelp
I've tried a few things from this place; fried calamari from the starters, sushi plate, white lotus, katana, california roll and spicy tuna roll. Everything was good, the fish is high quality however I did feel like it was a bit overpriced. It's located in Fashion Island, has a nice ambiance but could be a bit loud. Service was not the best, but it was good.

Yelp
This place is great for celebrations, anniversaries, and birthdays. The food is great, but unsure if it is worth the price point. For the price point, I would expect more from their sushi. Yes, it is good quality. And yes, the service was great. But for some reason, I did not feel 100% satisfied. I think it was the way we splurged for very small portions. One thing that I did love was the fried calamari. They used this glaze that makes it more complex with sweet and umami flavors and it was amazing.

Yelp
Enjoyed an incredible dining experience with a group of friends here. The service was incredible! The waitress kept our waters filled, drinks flowing, and the dishes cleared the second they were emptied. The food was so flavorful - everything from hot plates (definitely try the ribeye or the ribeye wrapped asparagus) to fresh sashimi, sushi and rolls melted in our mouth. Robert Zucchini is one of the managers there that came by to consistently check on us and make sure they were meeting expectations! Will definitely be back and recommend to anyone craving a fine dining experience.

Yelp
In town for a conference. Sat alone at a two top. This place came highly recommended by the concierge at the Hyatt down the way. I got the Cucumber salad and the soft crab rolls. Perfect amount of food and it was "roll my eyes" good! Wow I! An easy ice tea and I was set. The ambiance is happy and fun! The music is up but not loud. Great place! My waitress was so friendly and helped me navigate the menu. I agree with the concierge...GREAT place!

Yelp
Brussel sprout chips- these were tasty, the truffle oil was light and not overbearing. Because it's so airy it doesn't fill you up much but it's a good crispy snack. 5/5 Salmon roll - not on the menu, but a very delicious option, the fish was fresh, and the roll stayed well packed together. So good I ordered a second 5/5 Spicy miso soup- very good came out hot! It was a chilly night, so I drank it quite fast, it wasn't spectacular, but definitely worth it for a warm appetizer 4/5 Went here for Galentine's- great venue, great vibes, music is at a high volume so had a club feel plus the posh decor. Our waitress was so sweet we asked her immediately to take 100 pictures and she was so patient, attentive. Will definitely come again.

Yelp
Sushi Roku really nails the vibe. While I can't say their sushi blew me away, it's is a good place to celebrate and enjoy good company. Overall, the service and drinks were great, and the ambiance adds to the memorable visit.

Yelp
Sushi Roku is located in fashion island. It was my first time trying this place, and it was pretty decent. - Spicy cucumber sunomoko: Delicious and refreshing! I liked how thinly sliced the cucumbers were and it also had a really nice crunch from the sesame seeds on top. - Lamb chop: I'm not a fan of lamb because of the gamey taste, but this one didn't really have that flavor as much. Much better than any lamb I've tried, but still not a huge fan. Only came with one piece. - American Wagyu Beef: Really nice and tender, only came with one skewer. - White Lotus: I got this with salmon, as I'm allergic to tuna. This was my favorite item and it tasted nice and fresh. I recommend! - Chicken fried rice: Pretty good, but nothing outstanding. Aside from the food, the service was really good. They were constantly taking empty plates out of our way and someone who I presume was the manager came to check in on us mid-meal. The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because I don't know if it's worth the price. Maybe the sushi, as it seemed pretty fresh, but I don't think anything else we tried was worth the cost. I feel like you can find other places that are just as good for a much more reasonable price. We ended up spending around $180 for 4 people, so keep that in mind if planning on coming here.
