i dined on a weekday evening and the restaurant was full. we sat by the counter surrounding Chef Sato san and we could see all the actions taking place. we had the Chef's special menu priced at $480 per person, price is pretty steep in my opinion but i guess a portion of it goes to paying for the rent.
we started the course with chawamushi with shirako and matsutake, i'm not a fan of shirako but thankfully this was acceptable for me. next, we had the shiro ika with monzuku with wild yam and jellyfish, this was a refreshing course. we had the kue sashimi with ponzo sauce after that. we moved on to the sushi course where we had tuna, ebi, ishikakigai.
we took a pause from the sushi course with two cuts of tuna, chuotoro and magi maguro (baby tuna), i thought this was a pretty interesting dish as it was my first time having baby tuna. our sushi course continued after that with shima age, sayori. then came the seko kani which had an overwhelming amont of roe and it was too much for me.
we had the grilled fish which is sanma, this did not leave a good taste in my mouth as it was quite bitter. we continued with buri sushi and tachuo age (deep fried belt fish) after that. then came the steamed ankimo, kimedai sushi and the kelp noodles. frankly, the kelp noodles had not much of a taste. winding down to the last sushi which was the otoro, and the uni ikura kanpo seaweed rich bowl. finally, came the tamago before the dessert and i must say the tamago was full of prawn and seafood taste in my mouth. i'm not sure if i'm a fan of that as i would expect some sweetness and custardy texture to it.
service overall was alright, the service staff do come to you with an ipad showing you a picture of the ingredients you are having.
given the steep price tag, im not sure if i will be back again
