Sushi Sato

"The duo of chefs chose to open this sushi-ya in serene surroundings away from the busy CBD. In the same vein, the wood-rich interior is minimal and Zen-inspired. All the ingredients are shipped from Japan four times a week for peak freshness. Three seasonal menus are available and attention to detail is visible at every level – Yamagata rice is dressed in a blend of three red vinegars for the perfect tartness that complements oily fish." - Michelin Inspector

Sato-san and the team is great! I loved the types of seafoods they used. I think it’s also sourced from japan. Overall great food and great service! Will definitely come back!

First visit here highly recommended by my BFF. It really did not disappoint. I came for a light lunch omakase and the portion was just great, fresh and delicious. Sato san was kind to reduce the rice portion upon request. Ambience was calming and service was attentive. Will visit again!

Dining at Sushi Sato was always an extraordinary treat, from the intimate location hidden in Dempsey to the warm and welcoming demeanor of Chef Sato who made the meal feel personal. For someone who doesn’t usually like chawanmushi, the egg custard at Sato was a revelation—elevated by the subtle sweetness of chestnuts and creamy shirako, executed with such finesse that it became a highlight. The sushi, as expected of any high end sushi place, was of the highest quality. Sushi Sato sits comfortably in my top 5 omakase restaurant in Singapore.

First time here and had a good time (dinner). Highlight for me was the sushi - fresh fish paired with rice cooked to my liking (little bit more chewy than usual). Cooked food was good but nothing spectacular - standout for me was the seared baby tuna with uni and the grilled rock fish with mountain yam. Service was great. Only 9 seat counter (chef Sato) so intimate. Chef Sato was personable and attentive. Service staff were also attentive and helpful. Overall, would recommend a visit. Lunch could be a good option - sushi set a must try.

i dined on a weekday evening and the restaurant was full. we sat by the counter surrounding Chef Sato san and we could see all the actions taking place. we had the Chef's special menu priced at $480 per person, price is pretty steep in my opinion but i guess a portion of it goes to paying for the rent. we started the course with chawamushi with shirako and matsutake, i'm not a fan of shirako but thankfully this was acceptable for me. next, we had the shiro ika with monzuku with wild yam and jellyfish, this was a refreshing course. we had the kue sashimi with ponzo sauce after that. we moved on to the sushi course where we had tuna, ebi, ishikakigai. we took a pause from the sushi course with two cuts of tuna, chuotoro and magi maguro (baby tuna), i thought this was a pretty interesting dish as it was my first time having baby tuna. our sushi course continued after that with shima age, sayori. then came the seko kani which had an overwhelming amont of roe and it was too much for me. we had the grilled fish which is sanma, this did not leave a good taste in my mouth as it was quite bitter. we continued with buri sushi and tachuo age (deep fried belt fish) after that. then came the steamed ankimo, kimedai sushi and the kelp noodles. frankly, the kelp noodles had not much of a taste. winding down to the last sushi which was the otoro, and the uni ikura kanpo seaweed rich bowl. finally, came the tamago before the dessert and i must say the tamago was full of prawn and seafood taste in my mouth. i'm not sure if i'm a fan of that as i would expect some sweetness and custardy texture to it. service overall was alright, the service staff do come to you with an ipad showing you a picture of the ingredients you are having. given the steep price tag, im not sure if i will be back again

Probably one of the better Japanese restaurant in Singapore. Every dish managed to showcase the freshness of the ingredients and the work put into the different sauces and broth. Sitting at the counter also makes for a really enjoyable experience and the staff were all amazing. Would recommend a trip down but do make a reservation.

My favourite chef for fine dining sushi. Been enjoying sushi from him the last time when he was with the previous restaurant until now his named restaurant. The dining experience is definitely above the other fine dine establishments. Though the location is bit difficult to go to unless you are driving and it’s deep inside Demsey Road. However, it’s worth the trouble to get there and try out Sushi Sato restaurant! Kudos for his top notch skills and the good work. Very tasty food and enjoyable experience there. Highly recommended!
