We visited Shiogamakou for their Tuna Kiwami Course booked through Tabelog, and it was a great experience for anyone who really loves tuna. The meal focuses entirely on high-quality Shiogama tuna, starting with a negitoro hand roll that was simple but delicious—warm rice, crisp seaweed, and very fresh, fatty tuna. The appetizers were light and well prepared, leading into a sashimi tasting of six different cuts, from lean to very fatty, which made it easy to appreciate how different each part tastes.
The hot dishes were a nice surprise. The toro sukiyaki was rich and comforting, while the toro steak was lightly seared and incredibly soft, almost like premium beef but cleaner in flavor. The sushi course that followed was consistently excellent, with well-seasoned rice and generous cuts of tuna that melted easily. The castella-style egg at the end was lightly sweet and fluffy, a classic sushi-bar finish.
The highlight, though, was the final Shiogama Salted Tuna “Extreme Roll.” It was a very generous piece packed with fatty tuna, full of flavor without being overwhelming, and felt like a celebratory last bite. Overall, this course is a must-try for tuna lovers—focused, high quality, and very satisfying without feeling overly heavy.
