We had the Emporer’s Omakase which was excellent, each course was a masterpiece. They do ask at the start if there was anything you don’t eat or are allergic to and I wish I had said “No Shark’s fin” as that was one of the courses. No disrespect to the Chefs, it is just our preference and would have expected it on a Chinese menu but not a Japanese one. Again, my personal preference is that this is not on any restaurant menu, but it would have been good to know it was on the Emperor’s Omakase.
Service: there are 14 seats but only one wait staff. We ordered a large bottle of sake but had to keep trying to get her attention for top ups (the couldn’t leave the bottle on the counter due to lack of space). Given the lady had to clear up and set for each dish, for 14 people who also want drinks, you can wait a long time to get her attention. There should be at least 2 people to serve the restaurant.
This was a special occasion and it was uniquely memorable. We would return again, but please, no shark’s fin….
