Yelp
Quaint little sushi spot in downtown Waikiki with plenty of indoor seating but also a little patio with some ambiance. A solid spot if you're jonesing for sushi away from the hubbub of the Waikiki beachfront.
The shrimp shumai, made in house, I was told, were delicious. The shrimp had that crunch in very bite and the dollop of sriracha really brought it together. They also make their soy sauce in house too, which is always a great thing.
The nigiri plate was fresh and ample portion and great fish:rice ratio, with more fish than rice. However, there were a few pieces I didn't love and one of the pieces was imitation crab.
2 fronts with the imitation crab: I actually told my waitress earlier I didn't want the California roll if it had imitation crab. Also, let's be real: imitation crab isn't fish and definitely shouldn't be included in a nigiri plate unless requested. I have never seen an imitation crab nigiri served at any sushi spot, and I've been to a ton of sushi restaurants in my day.
I also wasn't a fan of the octopus taco, but alas, I realize on the chefs choice sampler plate you wont get everything you like, but it was a hard texture and not very satisfying.
Overall, a solid option for sushi in Waikiki that won't break the bank. As someone who comes from a place with great sushi, I'm a tough crowd.
