"Sushi Bar is a Japanese spot serving up Edomae-style sushi and top-of-the-line takeout in the heart of quaint Old Greenwich. While the takeout is some of the best around, we recommend going in person, keeping in mind that it’s BYOB—there’s a wine shop a few doors down with an ample sake selection if you forgot yours at home. The chef makes every component of his sushi from scratch, including ground-to-order fresh wasabi and a sweet house-marinated ikura with taut and glossy (but never slimy) eggs. First timers will enjoy the omakase for its breadth of techniques and bar-raising nigiri toppings, like crispy onions, foie gras, and caviar. Come hungry and supplement the omakase with at least one cut roll, like the salmon tsukemono with fatty chopped fish juxtaposing a rainbow assortment of pickles. Just skip the dumplings, as they’re one of the only things not made in house, and instead save some space for crackly matcha creme brulee for dessert. photo credit: Sam Schwab" - Chloe Zale

Our favorite sushi spot! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I try to get something new every time and it never disappoints. The quality is top notch. Pictured are the Stars Roll & edamame 🩷

I just keep coming back here again and again!! I have never had a bad experience with this restaurant. And it's soo hidden away and quiet. This place deserves to be packed and busy with how great the service and food is. The ambiance is great with soft jazz playing and cozy lighting. The servers are efficient and friendly. Management has wonderful table-side manners, cracking jokes with us and making us feel at home. The price of their food is really quite reasonable compared to the great quality and flavor! It's really been a consistent positive and pleasant experience without fail. We will come back again and again!! I'd definitely advise anyone to follow them on Instagram as well!

Google
TL;DR: Amazing place all around that we had visited for years on a weekly basis, sometimes more. We haven't found anything like it since we moved. My wife and I have been going there ever since we moved to Fort Worth. We started with them when they were in their original location and we continued with them long after they moved to their current one. I have tried everything on their menu at least once and found not a single bit of it to be lacking. The fish is always fresh and the rolls are never so caked in rice that it buries everything else, and even the rice itself has flavor without being overpowering. Be adventurous and try the unusual things like the uni or the salmon roe. The uni shooters are a particular favorite of ours. The staff is friendly and has been just about the same since we started going there way back in 2016. They saw our entire journey through graduate school week by week, and knew us by sight and our orders by heart, even though we tended to change them up every now and then. The lunch special is absolutely the best deal there and is an absolutely fair price compared to other places for the quality that you get, and the quality itself is - if you haven't gathered already - amazing. We moved away more recently and we have not been able to find anything like it since, and we now make it a point to stop in whenever we happen to be in town for something. Be nice to the crew there and be patient and you will be rewarded well.

Google
This place has been mine and my family’s go-to for over 10 years, and for good reason. The food is flat-out unmatched—consistently excellent, always fresh, and clearly made with care. No matter what I order, its always delicious! But what really keeps me coming back is the staff. They remember names, details, and they pay attention - extremely personable. Love each and every one of them! It’s rare to find a restaurant where the food is this good and the team behind it treats you like more than just a table number. This place nails both, every single time!

Google
I stopped by to get something small to hold me over until I had dinner. I decided to try the pork gyoza and a shrimp tempura roll. They both were really delicious. And at a great price too. I was really impressed with the staff and how quick and personable they were. Thank you so much. I will be back again!

Google
Good sushi spot with a few tasty vegetarian options. Their avocado rolls were good, but the sweet potato rolls were even better. The appetizer spring rolls were decent. I'd recommend getting multiple orders with friends and just sharing amongst yourselves. Service is a bit slow and sloppy, but they may have also just been training someone new when we went (who was very kind and courteous about everything).

Google
This is my favorite restaurant. It's the only sushi I will eat in FW. The food is delicious. The portions are perfect. If I could eat here every day, I would. I don't have the words to tell you what a fantastic place this is. Go, be patient, eat everything. Ask questions. Be adventurous. My order is always the same, and they start making it the minute I walk through the door. I have genuinely considered moving house so I could be closer to them. Please go and eat their food. But take notice: they close from 3-4:30, so plan ahead. Sometimes I call at 2:45 for an order at the last minute, and it's always perfect. Every time. I've eaten there, I've ordered takeaway, I've had business meetings there, and I've picked up orders to take to business meetings elsewhere. The food never disappoints. Go. Eat. Enjoy. Thank me later.

Google
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! Decided to come here and try out a couple of their sushi platters. By far some of the best rolls I’ve tried although I wish the portion size would be considerably larger but that is just how good they are! Just means I’ll have to go back for more!

Yelp
Service is always amazing here. I enjoy how regulars come in & they are known by name, the staff asks about their families, life events, etc. Food- SO good! We haven't had anything we didn't care for here. Everything is fresh and tastes amazing. Ambiance- Quaint, Clean, low music playing. TVs on mute with captions

Yelp
ORDER House Salad Sushi Lunch The prices are so reasonable for sushi. My sushi lunch came with 5 pieces of California Roll and 5 pieces of the chef's cut fish all for $10.95 then. The house salad had a generous amount of sauce. It was alright overall. I am not a big fan of salad so can't say too much here. The sushi was decently presentable in terms of arrangement. The seafood was fresh and no signs of bad smelling fishiness. Great overall! VIBES Very family-oriented vibes. The lighting is a little on the darker side. There are 1/2 booth 1/2 chair tables, chair tables and a decent amount of seating. I went around lunch time and it was pretty crowded. Lots of families so a little on the louder side but still relatively crowded. SERVICE Service was great! Food came out in a timely manner and our waitress continuously checked on us, filling our water, etc.

Ellie F.

Yelp
Want good sushi & nice people this is the place to go. It may be a little hole in the wall place but worth it every time.

Steve W.

Yelp
Hommmmmme Run! We were visiting and searching for hot sake and sushi. We found this hidden gem! Two must orders Crispy Chicken Salad (yeah I know....not sushi but so yummy!) Ahi Tuna Tower - Different and delicious!! The rest was great. Definite must try!

Sonia H.

Yelp
I stopped here on a whim for dinner while in Fort Worth on business travel. The service was great and the food was so tasty . I had the spicy edamame and ordered the Cowboy roll. Both were very good. I will definitely go back to try additional menu items.

Krystle M.

Yelp
Great food, Super fresh, our waitress was amazing! We will be back!! Thank you guys!!

Alyssa A.

Yelp
All staff was extremely nice and courteous. Sushi was fresh and tasty!! The owner (I believe) was very personable and knew many of the customers who walked in, asking about their families. Me and my family will definitely be going back. Great sushi plus amazing service!! Highly recommend.

John E.

Yelp
I came to Sushi Tao cause the last time I went to my favorite sushi spot, they didnt have real Sriracha. I came to Tao 8 years ago and had a great spicy tuna roll, so I decided to give it another try. I ordered a spicy tuna roll that came out filled with "crunch" and barely any tuna. Didn't even look like it had Sriracha in it. Tiny little roll. I didn't take a picture. Then I ordered a single order of Salmon nigiri and what they brought be literally shocked me!!! I have NEVER, in all my many years eating sushi, seen nigiri this small. Like OMFG. $6 for this?! I will NEVER be back. I am so pissed. I hate restaurants like this. What an effin joke. Take care of your customers!

Scott N.

Yelp
Took my mom here for lunch several weeks ago and I must say they have really good sushi . Went back the next week with my husband and he says the same as me very good . Staff is very friendly and on top of refilling your drinks . We will be back

Amy B.

Yelp
No place we'd prefer to go than Sushi Tao for a delicious meal!! Susie, Jason, and Joy are such amazing people and their sushi is always fresh with fabulous presentations! Highly recommend

Anita D.

Yelp
Food is good. Service was fine. They were busy when we were there for dinner. Portion to price is a little on the higher side. My only complaint is the order of shrimp tempura. When it arrived, I had to our waitress to make sure it was the shrimp tempura order because it only had two pieces of battered shrimp, 1 sweet potato, 1 zucchini and a couple of other vegetable pieces. With just only two shrimp pieces, I thought maybe I ordered the combo. Overall, it was ok.

Ashley G.

Yelp
I'd blow my whole paycheck here until it was gone. The food is absolutely amazing. Sushi is perfect, the atmosphere is so great, it's a small place, intimate but not touching elbows with the next table. Have to try the chicken salad, it says "must try" next to it in the menu, you must try!!

Jasmine H.

Yelp
Came here because another spot I wanted to try was closed. This place closes at 3p & reopens at 4p just a heads up. We came in around 2:30. We had 4 rolls & chicken fried rice. First , the chicken fried Rice was phenomenal. We had the volcano, temptation, tiger & crazy roll. The temptation and tiger were my favorite 2 rolls. The crazy roll was my favorite when I read it on the menu, but it was torched so it tasted pretty burnt which was a bummer. For dessert, I had fried Oreos which came with your choice of ice cream. I had vanilla ice cream and that was a perfect way to end the meal. The waitress was really nice & they offer free refills on canned soda bc they don't have a soda fountain. Overall, 4/5 stars.

Melissa H.

Yelp
My husband takes me here every time we go to Texas to visit his family. The food is amazing! Definitely recommend the ahi tower! He used to come here in high school almost every day so the staff knows him well and remembers him after 10 years

Olga P.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant for sushi and fried rice in the area, Recommend the tuna tower and drinks are all amazing

Hannah J.

Yelp
My bf & I were craving for some Sushi and wanted to try this place out. Upon walking in, the ambiance is nice. Very quiet, clean restaurant. You could already tell this is a great customer service place. Was greeted right as we stepped foot through the doors. Got seated right away and took our drink orders. You could easily tell this place has a lot of regular customers. It was so cute seeing the staff interacting with all the regulars that come in. My bf & I decided we wanted to get the Sashimi & Sushi boat for $51.95 and veggie udon (was supposed to be shrimp udon) for $16.95 and a side of pork gyoza that we devoured was about $8 The sushi boat comes with 2 side salads and 2 miso soups which is a big plus. The udon was mediocre. Really didn't have much flavor unless you added the Nanami Tograshi Pepper. The noodles were a bit too soggy for my likings. Now I did get Shrimp Udon. When my food came out I saw it was full of veggies, I was a bit shocked and confused. So maybe the shrimp was sitting on the bottom. As I was digging through my bowl , I realized there wasn't any shrimp so i asked my server. She accidentally put my order in as veggie udon and automatically asked me if i wanted to substitute by adding shrimp tempura on the side instead. Besides that everything else is pretty good Our total bill came out to $81.63 before tip and honestly that is really fair compared to other sushi restaurants we've been too. We would honestly return! Cleanliness: 10/10 Food: 9.4/10 Customer Service: 10/10

Yelp
I really like sushi but my wife doesn't, so I will probably go on a binge while she's away on her cruise to the Bahamas. This little place was packed with people waiting for a table at 8:30 on a Friday. I figured I would get a great meal and I did. First time to dine here and it was excellent. I ordered everything I wanted at once. House salad, clear mushroom soup, California and tempura shrimp rolls without avocado. Staff did a great job of bringing salad first, soup next and the rolls last. House salad is a decent size with plenty of fresh ingredients and a tasty ginger dressing served on the side. Soup was also a decent size with plenty of fresh mushrooms. Rolls were very good. California roll has eight pieces, shrimp tempura has six. I thought the price of the tempura roll was a bit high but theirs has two pieces of shrimp per slice. What put ST in the excellent category was the service. Entire staff works together to get everything out in a timely manner. Everyone is attentive and courteous, including the sushi chefs. They do have a good selection of entrees from the kitchen for those who don't like sushi/sashimi/nigiri. I will definitely be back and highly recommend. Domo arigato Sushi Tao!

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about Fort Worth's Sushi Tao! If you are looking for quaint, attentive service and delicious Japanese inspired cuisine, this is THE place! Joy, Jason and Susie have made this the perfect sushi spot! So far, our favorites include: beef fried rice, the Cowboy Roll and the Tuna Tartare. If you know, you know!

Dorian J.

Yelp
My wife and I wanted sushi, so we looked on Google and found this place. When we walked up, the restaurant looked dark and I was kind of unsure about it, but inside was nice enough. The sushi was good. I was somewhat disappointed with the Volcano because it tasted mainly like sesame oil, but I fixed it with some eel sauce. The reason for four stars instead of five is because the longer we were there the harder it was to find staff when we needed something.

Kylie B.

Yelp
Friendly and great service and recommendations. All our food was amazing. Sat at the bar and the chefs were awesome! 10/10

Wayne P.

Yelp
Stopped by for Lunch. Fresh food and tasty, service was excellent and quiet. Prices were good and we will come back.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Fast service, quiet atmosphere, fresh sushi. If I lived closer, this would be my go to restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Super quiet, peaceful vibes. The food was good, service was great, couldn't ask for more!

Jim N.

Yelp
This is by far the best Sushi bar, that we have been to, in the DFW area. Have tried all of the other places, and they are either over priced or the sushi was not that tasteful. Thankfully, they are within a short distance from our house, so I can pickup, if we do not feel up to going out.

Nancy B.

Yelp
We had a fabulous meal at Sushi Tao tonight. We have been there before but the restaurant appears to have gotten smaller and more intimate (COVID?). The restaurant was full and a lot of people came in for take out. The sushi was artful and so tasty. I got the Dragon Roll and it was the best shrimp tempura/avocado roll I have ever had. My daughter got the Crazy Roll and she said it was "crazy good." The sushi chef, and there was only one, was efficient and talented. The menu was really extensive and had some creative options. We will definitely be back!!

Nok M.

Yelp
I hate to give this place 3 stars, this place used to be my go to sushi. Because they had a really good California roll here, the crab used to be pulled apart and mixed with mayonnaise or cream cheese before they make the roll and that made this place different than others. It was very tasty and good amount of filling and not too much rice on the outside either. Now since they reopened after the Covid, things have changed. The filling for California roll are just a stick of imitation crab with avocado which make no different than others. The main ingredients of specialty rolls are pretty much base from stick of imitation crab and a avocado. I hope they bring the same recipes back otherwise I need to look for somewhere else.

Conrad A.

Yelp
There is no sushi buffet offered. Please remove from sushi buffet offerings. I just drove 30 min through traffic. To find this out. If Yelp or restaurant contacts me that this has been removed from buffets, I will kindly remove my 1 star. This is fallacious and disappointing, hence the rating. I am sure this is an excellent but was so disappointed after fighting traffic I am forced to denigrate your good name. Read my caveat and ur golden

Andrew M.

Yelp
Sushi here is excellent. My go to is the cowboy roll, and the stars. Service is great, and atmosphere is good for a date or family dinner.

Judy M.

Yelp
Everyone loves this place first because the staff appreciates you and greets you as though you're family & they are genuine! Secondly the food is amazing & well priced! We have patronized them for many years & will continue to do so

Mackenzie M.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place in Texas!! Staff is so friendly and they always have the best food!!! Haven't had anything I didn't like there. They have sections where you can watch sports, the sushi chef or have a nice quiet dinner with friends or family!! :)

Kevin C.

Yelp
The best sushi in the Fort Worth area so far and keep coming back to it. The server is great

Aisha T.

Yelp
Regrettably, we always pass this place and never think twice. We listened to our gut and boy are we elated that we did! Our waitress was friendly and prompt on food. The fish was fresh, flavorful and tender. There was a very nice man in with his sons and he was ordering and speaking on the sea urchin shooter. Being inquisitive I asked what it was and next thing I know we were taking shots (compliments) of this kind man! It was maybe one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth! Thank you kind sir, thank you! Tao Sushi you have a new customer!

Hayley B.

Yelp
A weekly spot for my boyfriend & I. Their sushi is some of the best we've had hands down!! A small hidden gem.

James W.

Yelp
Really good sushi. Nice place. Small and cozy. I'll admit it's been a bit since we've been here. I don't recall exactly which rolls we had on the menu, but the ones we did. Have were really good and layered with flavor. As with most sushi places we've found in Texas, it's Japanese sushi with a bit of Mexican flare in some of the rolls. Our favorite sushi place in the Woodlands is normally what we compare other sushi establishments by. This was good, we'd go again, we sampled menu rolls as well as a few chefs choice, and chefs choice is where the real talent for sushi, flavor mixtures, and understanding how to mix them together is found. They didn't disappoint at all. The edamame was really good, salted and peppered. That was a change for most places, yet a welcome change. The sake we had was infused and very good and plenty cold. The carafe was big enough for us both and not so heavy that it affects a light weights ability to drive legally. I'd recommend this place for sure.

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Our absolute favorite sushi restaurant in Fort Worth. The food is always excellent and the staff are amazing! You won't regret eating here!

Chauntee' P.

Yelp
My go to sushi restaurant. I love everything about Sushi Tao. The staff is so welcoming and I've never had anything I didn't like there. If you want to spend the rest of your life craving something, eat their crunchy chicken salad. I mean it, you'll never be the same.

Sarah D.

Yelp
We were looking for a new Japanese restaurant with items other an sushi to try and this restaurant popped up on Yelp. We have nothing but great things to say about the service, food, & atmosphere. You can tell this place was frequented by regulars who were greeted by name. We had an assortment of amazing dishes, and the waitress heard us talking about our son (it was his birthday) She insisted in getting him dessert- fried ice cream!!

Christopher C.

Yelp
Bruhhhhh!!!!! Best sushi in DFW. Pay like 5 or 6 times more for similar quality at Uchi? Yeah no thanks lol. Quality on par with Uchi , but without the insane price for hype. I would go here again for sure. If you love sashimi, A-1 quality right here. Speciality rolls are great too, wife goes for the fancy ish* lol Superb Sushi!

Bella L.

Yelp
Their hours listed online are incorrect. Drove over to try for the first time, only for them to be closed. Very disappointing.

Krista R.

Yelp
It's been 2 years since my review. In the last 2 years, ST has swapped places with Pho and Grill and went on a few long vacations. The food is ALOT better than what it was. Their sushi is decent...for this area. I like the shrimp shumai soup, the deep fried pork, and the tuna tataki.

Erin S.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience for the whole family! Everyone there was friendly and accommodating. I loved how the wait staff interacted with and chatted with my kiddos. All of the food was delicious and what you would expect at a good sushi restaurant. We will be going back.

Natalie M.

Yelp
Sushi Tao is my most favorite sushi restaurant. I have been coming here for 12 years and never have been disappointed. A few of my favorites are the Sushi Tao roll, Tuna Tower, Cowboy roll, Dragon roll, ginger salad, gyonza, and so much more. My 8yr old loves the Tuna Sashmi and my dad the none sushi eater says they have the absolute best steak teriyaki. Susie, Joy, and Jason are the kindest sweetest people you will meet. They make you feel like family every time!

Dee S.

Yelp
Been a customer for 3 years. My daughter loves this place and I think it's just okay. Tonight I noticed a customer drinking from a water pitcher. I'm addition to that the manager walked around to every table except ours. When she walked past us she did it even look at us. She was more than friendly and accommodating to certain customers. I asked the waitress and the waitress who was surprised she never came to our table after visiting the other tables 2-3 times. I told her I noticed it the last three times but for my daughters sake I overlooked it. When my daughter asked me why "that lady never comes to our table mommy". I had to make it a teachable moment and asked to speak with her. I told her that I noticed she didn't stop at our table and I wanted to introduce myself as a customer of 3 years. Suddenly, there was a language barrier. I told her that we were nice life her preferred customers and frequent this business too often to be ignored. Again, language barrier. I told my daughter that despite how kind everyone else is, we won't be returning since customers that look like us aren't embraced like the preferred customers. Despite skin color, my money is green and I can spend my money elsewhere. My daughter learned a lot today because I had to explain and answer questions I shouldn't have had to. All customers deserve the same respect.

Emma D.

Yelp
The outside of this building may not appear inviting because it's hidden in a small strip mall, BUT the customer service and food was well worth the visit!! We had three different types of sushi and so very fresh! It looked just like it was supposed to! The eel, avocado, shrimp, tuna, seaweed, sesame seeds and all was delicious!!! Highly recommended!!!

Brady W.

Yelp
How have I lived here all my life, they've been here for 16 years, and yet I've never dined here? That will be drastically different going forward. Fantastic quality of food, and extremely welcoming and chatty staff. Couldn't be more happy that I stopped in here randomly on a Thursday. Will be taking all of my sushi-loving friends and family here in the near future!

Sunshine M.

Yelp
My partner and I have been coming here for almost a year now, regularly- I can't believe I have never reviewed Sushi Tao. We affectionately call this our "Home Base" after trying other local places and just not feeling as comfy. Excellent prices, excellent quality, excellent service. Susie and the sushi chefs are the best- always in great spirits and they help you feel welcome.

Ashley M.

Yelp
I'm a sushi foodie and this place is amazing!! You have to try the sea urchin shooter, it is sooo good!!! This is now my number one spot!!

J R.

Yelp
Our son had his eye on this place for a while and even heard good things from friends, so we went there for his birthday. Upon arrival service was good, seated quickly and drinks came promptly. Then, she took our order and everything went downhill from there. There were only two patrons when we arrived, and our order consisted of five rolls. Fifteen minutes later, more people started to arrive and to-go orders were coming in. We noticed a family that came in 15 minutes after us had already been served. After an hour of waiting and none of the waitress giving us an update, we decided to leave. The Asian lady behind the counter started to cuss me out in her language and then said that she was about to start on our order, AFTER AN HOUR! We tried to be patient and give this place a chance, but nobody should have to wait an hour to get their food.

Samuel H.

Yelp
The service was good- sincerely, the young ladies are very sweet and attentive. The quality of the fish and the paper thin cuts are the reason for this review. The flavors were good- just no fish. Even the sushi (nigiri) was excessively small and thin. We had a few rolls- almost everything has cream cheese (which is a big no for any true sushi lover) but they did swap the cream cheese out for avocado or cucumber as requested. The rolls were small- smaller than even grocery store sushi- but again, what ruined it for us was the paper thin portions of fish that you could even taste. Sadly, we won't be back.
