Sushi Today

I’d say it’s OK and one of the better sushi places in Boston that we’ve tried. Everything was quite fresh and tasted good. Staff were very polite and friendly, and they finished the order pretty fast too! Shop has two flights of stairs to get to, so not accessible to all. It’s a small quaint shop that’s decorated inside with interesting colourful Lego pieces around the shop.

Really cute place, great variety for a small business owned by a really cute couple. I usually get their salmon pop rolls and salmon don! Show them some love and check them out! ☺️

I used to come here once/week or at least once every two weeks back when I worked 'round the way. Both then and now, they deliver high grade sushi for an affordable price in a competitive/expensive area. I apologize for not taking photos of the food, which was a lunch special of 3 rolls, (Alaska, Tuna and Spicy Tuna). It was definitely enough food to hold me over well into dinner time and I'm a big boy. The atmosphere has changed a bit in my two-year absence. It's designed for lunch dates and whatnot now. I miss the street-facing bar. It was hands-down the best people-watching spot on Tremont Street and on this occasion, I was next to a television with some Keanu Reeves movie playing. Quite a downgrade. For much of the day, Sushi today is a one-man operation, which I totally respect and for that reason, I am impressed that my food arrived within twenty minutes, though I would not recommend going here, or getting sushi in general for that matter, if you are pressed for time. It seems like business isn't doing so hot. Barely anyone arrived for pickup or sitdown and I was there during the lunch rush. I am rooting for Sushi Today. I'll visit again within a year for what should be quality sushi.

This was my first time visiting Sushi Today. It was a cute little place! Love the umbrellas concept inside the restaurant and good service and how they tied the umbrellas into part of their rolls. I liked how they want their customers to interact with them by leaving sticky notes on sections of the restaurant and I also liked how they had small sized games like Jenga for customers to play while they are dining or waiting for their food. They would be a higher rating if they had more of a selection and more of a variety of Rolls especially if Sushi Today offered more cooked sushi rolls. The only cooked roll I had was the Sweet Potato Roll and it didn’t taste as hot and fresh as I’ve had it at other sushi restaurants. Overall I had a good experience the pricing was fair.

$14 for a salmon poke bowl that was mostly white rice. Bizarrely, it had canned peaches and tomatoes and was swimming in sauce. Not going back.

I ordered veggie special sushi and red bean crepe cake. The food was tasty enough. The red bean cake was way too overpriced for the quantity and the taste. The slice was much smaller than regular cake slice and tasted just average.

I love this little spot for lunch! The maki combo is an amazing deal- I get the one that comes with 2 rolls and a miso soup. It’s cozy, the people are friendly, the sushi is good, and I always leave feeling like I got an amazing bargain!

Hadn't been here in a few years and got the chance to stop by. Everything was just as great as it had been before! Service was quick and polite. I had the maki combo and got tuna maki and salmon maki, which came with miso soup. Food was great! Perfect stop for a late lunch on a chilly Boston day! Just as a heads up to anyone who is disabled, it is up a flight of stairs, so it's not the most easily accessible place. I was able to make it up with a little help, but I wanted to let other handicapped people know.

Was in the Boston area recently and ordered Sushi Today via DoorDash. The food arrived approximately 45 minutes after ordering. The sushi was nicely packed and the bag was secured by staples. It included a few pairs of wooden chopsticks and soy sauce packets. Unfortunately, no napkins though. Ordered their Spicy salmon maki, spicy tuna maki, and california maki "maki special" for about $15.50. This was a good value for three different maki's consisting of about 24 pieces. Also, ordered a HakoTuna signature maki which contained spicy tuna, tempura flakes, tuna, avocado, and spicy mayo. This was made without seaweed so it was more of a sushi sandwich. See my picture. It wasn't bad but I expected the tuna to be spicy. We also ordered another California maki. The crab was just sticks of fake crab meat. I personally prefer the California rolls made with chopped up imitation crab mixed with mayo. A Togo menu was also included in the bag.

I ordered through a delivery app and I loved the big sushi platter. I order sushi quite a bit and I'd say this was fairly on par with the other sushi places I've ordered from. I would get it again, but I think I'd prefer all you can eat sushi elsewhere compared to the platter.

I ordered an order for delivery from here on DoorDash. The food took about 45 mins to get to me so not bad. I ordered the sushi & sashimi combo, which came with a miso soup. The miso was pretty disappointing with no flavor in the broth at all. I ended up not drinking it. The combo came with 5 pieces of sushi, 5 sashimi and a tuna roll. Again, everything was just okay. Not the best quality but not bad for randomly ordering delivery! I liked that I wasn't overwhelmed with how much rice was used in the roll or sushi. Overall just fine. I didn't love that there was pretty little variety in the fish that I got. I also got the spicy seafood salad. Nice flavor, just a little spice and creamy. Portion size was small and would've expected it to come with a little lettuce or something under the seafood mix but overall - pretty good.

I am amazed not only the food is great the people who manage/ own this business are exceptional. I forgot my purse at the restaurant with all of my 2000$ cash rent money in it. I returned many hours later at the end of the day before closing and they had my purse Safelite put away the asked me to ck make sure everything was in there before I left in effect all was there I offered 100$ for safely putting it away and they strongly refused. They are 10 stars in my book.

I was already probably not going to order from here again because the quality of the tuna in my order of tuna don was so poor (very "fishy" tasting and smelling; really no tuna taste came through), but then I found a hair in my rice. And you can tell it's not mine because it's visibly embedded in a clump of rice. I eat a LOT of sushi in the area and literally everywhere has been better than this. You pay for what you get

Ordered for pick up with grub hub/yelp. They prefer you to call in house for pick up. I was not notified that my order was ready, but grub hub said it would take about 40-50 min so I set a timer. When i went to the restaurant it seemed like they had been waiting awhile for me to pick up so maybe calling in helps get a better, accurate time to pick up. I ordered the lunch special with the station and boston roll. Both tasted fresh! They also gave me a serving of miso soup which I was surprised to get! Bonus points for the cute little soy sauce bays they include for pick up orders

Late night cravings, more like late night disappointment. Would not recommend, poor quality, small portions, it took about 45 minutes via DoorDash. I ordered: Maki Combo One - the spicy tuna filling was very dry with tempura filling, the tuna didn't seem fresh and overall it was so dry. The salmon mediocre, and the California roll was standard. The miso soup tasted different compared to other places, it was a little odd. Seaweed salad - alright, your typical seaweed salad Spicy Kani Salad - it was good, crisp cucumbers. Very mayo-y. Shrimp tempura maki - do not recommend, the rice was overly smooshy

Came in a on a quiet Monday evening. This place was definitely really intimate. Not really the place to bring a large group but definitely a good spot for date night with the lady friend. We ordered 5 different rolls (Philly, Cali, Dragon, Caterpillar and Alligator). They were all super delicious and the presentation was delightful on this small, wooden bridge (pictured). We would happily come here again!

This is my new go to for sushi delivery. Fish is always fresh, rice the right text texture and rolled to perfection. The price isn't that bad either

Tried a different sushi place for my birthday recently and it did not sit well with me, but my experience with Sushi Today was thankfully a good one. I aimed for something simpler and what I'm used to, and they did not disappoint. I'm a huge salmon lover and I loved EVERYTHING I tried here. The Bruins Maki roll is salmon and avocado with shrimp tempura, all my favorite ingredients in one delicious roll. The food items I got were simple and basic, but delicious and made up for the fancier, double-the-price sushi I tried elsewhere. Will definitely come back again, might be my go-to from now on.

This is the best sushi ever eat! 100% quality and friendly. I will come back here every week. I love sushi but I also don't want to break the bank. Affordable, delicious, and friendly environment!

The gentleman friend and I came here for dinner when I requested a sushi date. My goodness did the place deliver. Reasonably priced for the market, good service and attention. Small and manageable. We ordered 5 rolls to share and I could have eaten twice that. So good. Also they delivered the rolls on this fancy bridge thing and I felt very cool. It even lit up.

The best sushi I never had! The server is very nice to give the free soup~ The price is cheap same as 6 years ago. The sashimi is really fresh, I saw they handmade the sushi, it is looks very clean and healthy.

Initially planned to go to some other sushi place but saw this and stopped in our tracks. Great sushi, sweet music, all for a low price. Free ice cream was a nice touch. Will tell all our friends :) - S & D

For Boston - decent sushi and a tad on the smaller end for portions (or maybe we should have ordered more!). Quality was good but nothing mind-blowing - which is pretty normal for my experience in the city We got: - lemon tree (mango, shrimp, salmon, maki with avo wasabi sauce); this is a really nice roll if you want something light on the sauce! - spicy salmon hand roll (salmon, cucumber, spicy mayo, tempura flake) - I would get a roll instead of this next time - sashimi deluxe (12 pcs) - delish Probably would order again if I wanted something light for dinner but not my go-to if starving :)

I go to Sushi Today frequently, and every time it's pretty good. Their specialty rolls are really good. Recently though I've been having a lot of problems with them forgetting parts of my order, so if you pick up, be sure to check your bag to make sure you have everything before you go. The prices can't be beat for the quantity.

The food was alright but I ordered through yelp and it took them 40 minutes to get the order ready even though I went to pick it up. Not to mention, I had gone up to pick up and the woman told me to wait five more minutes. I go up again about 10 minutes later and she told me she gave my order to someone else thinking it was me?? And the other person was a man??? It took them another 15-20 minutes to remake my food. I'm rather disappointed.

Even though Yelp may throw my review away because they don't like customer reviews and if you don't pay for ads they expunge reviews. this is my oppinion Just saying and ya know what I mean yelpers. We are grateful they opened so close to us in concord. Thier food is excellent and service very attentive and helpful. Never have we tried.Ny sushi here that we did not like. I left a 5 stars reviews for sushi today and I realized Yelp just deleted it!!!!! That's soo wrong! They are doing good and they deserve a 5stars review!!!

Sushi is good. Sashimi is also decent. The price is a little bit higher than I expected. You can have more at Yamato though. I had a good experience here. The staff is nice.

Overpriced for the quality, and, moreover, the quantity. A twelve-dollar roll was only six pieces and the poke bowls are the smallest I've seen in Boston.

Now that Lent has started I have a place to go to on Fridays. Affordable, good portions, taste fresh, quick, and close to work

food always tastes fresh. the most annoying thing to me is that they will not give any utensils and will stuff all food into one container even if it's multiple different items. doesn't seem they value their returning customers either.

The quality of the sushi did not meet expectations. 2 of the 3 items we ordered did not match the description on the menu. Missing major ingredients.

I have had really good experiences ordering from this restaurant. Their maki rolls and miso soup are good and not very expensive. Their poké bowl was also delicious, and they don't charge extra for a bunch of the ingredients that many poké places do charge extra for. They are great for takeout as they are very fast, and have also adjusted their pickup process during COVID to be a very safe option during the pandemic.

I had this once and thought it was alright but went back recently and I'm pretty sure they overcharged me. The quality of the fish seemed quite poor, especially for the price.

OMG new find service is great and amazing fresh sushi bar. I got the salmon pop and went back in an hour for more tempura

Dropped in with a group of 3! A small home-y feel of a sushi place. It was pretty small, but not crowded. The sushi was great! It tastes fresh and the rolls were very aesthetically pleasing. I recommend the Red Sox roll and Spicy Girl!! The sushi was made relatively fast and the service was attentive. They came by multiple times to refill our waters. Affordable, especially compared to other sushi places. I would love to pop in again for lunch or dinner.

Im a big sushi person...and this was honestly some of the best sushi ive ever had. I don't usually write reviews but I felt I had to cause thats how impressed I was. I used their delivery service which was very fast and thorough

Almost mediocre but sadly below even that level. Sloppily rolled, low quality rice, rancid pickled ginger, chewy tuna, decent salmon and off tasting hamachi. Disappointment all around.

This is my second time visiting this place and I love it!!! I brought some friends back as well and they love it too! please try the scorpion maki and the spicy girl maki, those are best ones!

Probably the worst sushi place I have ever gone to. Ordered the sashimi lunch special and ended up with a few pieces of imitation crab, sad cooked shrimp, and a few pieces of pretty smelly salmon. How is that a sashimi lunch at all? What a waste of money. The luke warm miso soup that obviously came out of a packet (dehydrated tofu cubes and still hard and dry seaweed were a giveaway) and lack of real sashimi on the plate (not counting the salmon, which was really not fresh) is appalling. Doesn't even come with rice. Don't come here.

I came in for lunch today. It was pretty quiet but welcoming. The owner, who served me is super sweet! I live near by so I usually come here quite often/ order Togo. The sushi is always phenomenal and fresh! I had the Manhattan today which consisted of crab meat in the roll and baked scallops on top. Although I was expecting actual scallops on top it was more of a seafood salad but it was still delicious. I have never run into any problems while ordering from here and the owner is super sweet and even greets me on the street (not only in his restaurant) haha.

This sushi restaurant is pretty close to my apartment,it's so convenient.The restaurant is not very but it's nice! I love the food here and they have the poke bowl recently which is my favorite! The price is also so nice that's a good choice for dinner. If you were here at lunch time u have to try their lunch special! The price is so cheap and the combo comes with 3 rolls! It tastes so yummy!

The spot was great. I ordered delivery and it came on time. I got the 24 piece maki combo with the miso soup. Was even better than expected. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Best Sushi on the Hill! Came here and got the caterpillar roll, alligator roll and sweet potato roll. All were so delicious!! The suggested appetizer we ordered was also extremely good. I'm not much of a spice person so they catered our sushi exactly to my liking. Freshly made sushi, the service is great and it's not overly priced like some sushi places in the area. Even got free ice cream at the end! Definitely will be back.

Haven't had sushi for awhile due to a bad experience. But my friends and I were carving for sushi so bad. We order a bunch of stuff. Food taste great, good presentation and nice service. Will definitely come back!!!

Friendly little joint! Had mini janga to play on the table which is a good way to kill time waiting on food. Food came out on a timely manner. Presentation was on a boat, but I would rather have a clean plate then an old boat that wasn't cleaned well. It has stains on the out side like grease. Sand it out or buy a new boat. Food tasted fresh was worth trying out new sushi shop.

I was sad when I saw that Sushi Station was gone but Sushi Today is just as good if not better! Really large menu and I wanted to try everything. I'll be back very soon! The Hako Tuna Maki was my favorite (in the middle of the picture). A spin off of your regular spicy tuna roll but it had a very pleasant wasabi flavor that kicked it up a notch.

Taste so good! The Cherry Blossom in the Signature Maki Menu. Strongly recommend to everyone~

This place was a total disappointment!!! I'm disgusted by the quality of the food and their service. Definitely not a place to go for a dinner. Their sashimi taste cheap and chewy. The chef would stare at you the whole time which creeps me out. It feels so awkward inside. The waiter doesn't refill ur water until I intentionally asked. Don't waste your life and money in this place. It's not worth your time. I'm never going back again!!! No wonder it's called Sushi today, cuz you only eat it today and not coming back!
