The 16 Best Restaurants in Mountain View - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"When it comes to sushi, all we really want is high-quality fish prepared expertly and served without too much fanfare. Fortunately for us (and all sushi lovers within driving distance of Mountain View), this is precisely what Sushi Tomi offers. The menu is short, but it’s still packed with standouts, from excellent nigiri, rolls, sashimi, and chirashi, to comforting bowls of udon. At lunchtime, take advantage of the $20 bento box or $22 sushi/sashimi deal for generous portions." - gabi moskowitz

Recently, we went for dinner, and we were able to sit at the Sushi Bar. Carrie, our server was very good! Carrie gave us Edamame, that was really good. My wife had the Sushi & Sashimi Bento which included Miso soup, that was very good. I had Nigiri Sushi of Hamachi Toro, Otoro, Hotate, and California Roll. Everything was so delicious that we ate it all and boy were we full! They don't take reservations, and they're so popular that the restaurant fills up fast. There's always a line outside waiting to get in.

Had a fantastic dinner at Tomi Sushi in downtown Mountain View! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, dragon roll, and a salmon teriyaki dinner, each dish was spot on. The salmon teriyaki was perfectly grilled with a delicious glaze, and the sushi rolls were fresh and well-balanced. The miso soup and rice rounded out the meal perfectly. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and great quality all around. Definitely a local favorite worth returning to!

This restaurant seems to have people lining up often so we had high expectations. I eat nigiri and american style rolls often in the bay area and some nigiri in Tokyo, so I have some sense of what good sushi is like. The cut of nigiri here is aesthetically uneven, which would be ok if the cut was good. To me it didn’t taste especially good quality. We both felt the items we got were very average and not worth the price… if you are particular about sushi I’d skip this spot. The tomi special roll was the only thing I liked

We visit Tomi a lot. Most recently I tried their extra special nigiri and really loved it! The raw shrimp and Uni nigiri’s were very fresh and sweet. Super fatty tuna melted in my mouth. Also loved the eel.

A solid restaurant for sushi and other Japanese food in a casual setting. We have been coming here for sushi for the last 15 years. We got there before 11:30am on a Sunday and were seated immediately, but there were people waiting outside after noon. Their sushi and sashimi selection was excellent as usual. The sets come with miso soup, a salad, and a bowl of white rice. The pork katsudon rice bowl was delicious as well. It happened to be on Mother’s Day and they thoughtfully brought out some carnations for the moms at each table. The price is quite reasonable given the high-quality of food they serve. Overall it is a great experience.

Definitely one of my favorite sushi spots in all of South Bay for casual nigiri and sushi rolls. All of the sashimi are so consistently fresh and high quality. The salmon pieces are so thick and amazing. The uni was so flavorful and tasted like the ocean (in a good way). Everything was super great value for the price too! My fiance and I came at 5:30pm on a Friday and were able to get a table immediately, we barely beat the dinner rush because by the time we finished ordering, the storefront started getting crowded with people waiting for a spot. The service is okay, friendly but not super attentive. Our server essentially only came by for us to order and then drop off the check at the end. But she did give really good menu suggestions.

Great sushi quality. Sabe in particular was delicious. Uni was a bit diappointing, but all other sushi was tasty.

This was a deeply disappointing Japanese restaurant. Perhaps it was because we visited on a weekend and the place was crowded, but every dish our group ordered had some sort of issue. One person found hair in their rice, another had spoiled chicken in their oyakodon, and the tonkatsu was unbearably salty. The sashimi side dish, made from trimmings, tasted off—almost as if something that shouldn’t be there had gotten mixed in. The environment inside was extremely noisy, making it nearly impossible to hold a proper conversation. The service was confusing as well—our server had difficulty communicating in English, and we weren’t given any water cups throughout the meal. No one came to ask if we needed water, even after we finished the tea we had to pay extra for. As the meal went on, our disappointment grew. We left a small, symbolic tip out of courtesy, only to be met with a strange look from the staff. This experience was truly disheartening, and it’s hard to imagine coming back.
