I recently had the pleasure of dining at sushi uma, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The contemporary atmosphere immediately caught my attention, blending modern design with a cozy, inviting vibe. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the sushi. I tried the Lion King Roll and the Dragon Roll, both of which were outstanding. The Lion King Roll had a perfect balance of flavors, with the richness of the baked salmon complementing the fresh ingredients inside. The Dragon Roll, with its eel and avocado, was equally impressive, offering a delightful mix of textures and flavors. The presentation was also noteworthy; each dish was a work of art, carefully crafted and beautifully plated. The service was prompt and attentive, with staff who were knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. Overall, Sushi Uma offers a sushi experience that is both sophisticated and satisfying. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or just looking for a great meal in a stylish setting, this place is definitely worth a visit.

There are many choice of their sushi rolls, I recommend the red dragon roll, the taste is little spicy from the tuna on top, and I am a spicy tuna hand roll fan, and I like it so much. I also order a ramen, the taste is ok, not bad, of course it cannot be compare with the ramen house, but I can enjoy some hot food after the sushi. The atmosphere is good, pop music, dimmed lighting, and contemporary decoration. Nice restaurant overall.

First time going to Sushi Uma. Very clean restaurant. Fresh and delectably delicious nigiri and the rolls were delightfully delicious. Totally coming back.

First time coming here through a groupon purchase. Small restaurant, very minimal seating. I saw most people doing take out orders. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Clean restaurant. You can see the chefs making the sushi fresh. Ordered the Philadelphia rolls, dragon rolls and dynamite rolls. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. Pleasantly surprised based on the venue. Truly enjoyed the sushi and recommend it to anyone looking for some good food!!!

Amazing chirashi bowl, one of my favorites I had in the city! Such good cuts of fish all for a good price. Definitely recommend, will order here again.

I LOVE Sushi Uma, especially the Salmon and Spicy Tuna hand rolls. They are open late at nigh too, making it a great option for delivery. The workers there are so warm and wonderful. Even with delivery orders, I can call them and they are always so accommodating with any sorts of modifications to my order.

It's a nice place, food is yummy, service is sweet and helpful. I enjoy the environment.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem that's open until 11:30 PM, and I'm so glad I did! There wasn't any wait time so the waiter was able to seat us quickly. The premium omakase was not only delicious but also surprisingly affordable. The quality of the fishes were actually pretty good and tasted fresh. I didn't expect the Uni to be actually so creamy and a big piece. What truly sets this place apart is its late night hours, making it the perfect spot for a post dinner adventure or a satisfying meal after a long day.

We came around 4pm, we were the only customer there. The food was acceptable, we ordered one spicy tonkotsu, a non-spicy one and a bento box. The bento box came quick, serving was ok, chicken tasted salty and no taste at all. The shrimp tempura had more flour than the shrimp, like it's premade frozen. We could barely taste the shrimp meat . The bento box feels like the type of food where you can get at other place for cheaper. We then proceed to wait 30mins for our tonkotsu ramen. They were tasteless, we couldn't taste the broth and felt like drinking boiling water. Only the egg has taste. The server was nice though. Overall the food needs to be improved and it should not be this slow when we were the only customer in the store. Wont be trying for the second time.

I have been coming here for years. My mom had a double lung transplant and was staying up the street from this place in 2019. Excellent quality of fish. Always fresh and full of flavor. I usually do take out but tonight I sat down. I was the only person at 8 pm on Saturday but lots of Togo orders. Ambiance is nice quiet. I was pretty much left alone which was nice I was just eating by myself. Another couple came in a lil after me. Hot tea was very good better than other places I've been. The quiet was a nice change. If you want excellent quality fish this is your spot. I've tried a few sushi places around this area but this is my favorite for sure!!

I walked past and stopped by Sushi Uma on Irving. It's one of the nicest Sushi places in SF. I ordered a sushi Combo and it was very big for a person, The fish had very big pieces, not too much rice which I loved . As a local I recommend sushi Uma, just give it a try.

Service was wonderful! Very attentive service and really went above and beyond. Food was absolutely delicious and would highly recommend this restaurant! Great location on Irving street. Ambiance was authentic, true hidden gem!

homies be skimping on giving food :( I ordered a Romeo & Juliet roll during lunch and they gave me this. For a small business in Irving, I would've expected a bit more food. The top seared Scallop part also threw me off because it was kinda hard. Each piece was TINY and for $18, I was mega sad.

Don't come here if you're used to eating actually high quality sushi. Basic rolls are not even entirely wrapped, small amount of fish, with lots of not so great rice. Nigiri in the omakase was really fishy with wasabi that was abnormally strong. The tuna in the maki still had its tendons and was discolored. For service, we waited 37 min before we got food on a slow night. The only reason it's not a one star is because it's a clean place. Slimy, chewy, fishy, and gross.

I walked from a different direction on Irving and I found this sushi store and I thought I would try it, but I was so mad that the bento box was once again $21 and then I wanted 4 pc sashimi and it was $40 for my sushi dinner tonight. It's healthy but it's the same thing and it's so expensive. It's $25 and I like sushi and the waitress Nicole. I got a phone call and I am confused because I have no idea why Japanese food and Chinese food are not the same thing, but anyway. Dad says hi from heaven and I hope you have a good holiday. PS SUSHI UMA THURMAN AND OPRAH UMA OLD JOKE!!

I ordered on Uber eats and called the store to see if they can add extra soy sauce and wasabi. The lady answered and LIED saying that the order wasn't here and the driver already picked it up. Which I knew was bullshit because on the Uber app I still wasn't assigned the Uber wars driver. The lady pretends to know barely any English. What reason was there for you to straight up lie to me? Are you that lazy? After being assigned to a Uber eats driver. I asked him to make sure they give extra soy sauce and wasabi. They fucking refused... like wtf?? My order was $80 and you give me this small ass piece of wasabi??? THE FOOD ISNT EVEN THAT GOOD!!!!

The food was amazing!! Service was fire as well. I got the San Francisco roll and it was delish. Super fresh and yum. And the gyoza and miso soup so yummy.

If I could I would give them 0 stars. Absolutely horrible. I ordered takeout and had to wait 10 minutes at the front before anyone would even walk up to me, I had to call out for someone to come to host stand because they were too busy talking to each other. I live walking distance from this store so there was no way it was "sitting out too long." We got the Nigiri Combo no.1 the fish was warm and so fishy I couldn't even swallow it, we also got the spider roll that was mainly filled with imitation crab and old soft shell crab( you could smell how fishy it was as soon as we opened the container) I have never tasted a roll that actually tasted like old fish that sat outside for what seemed like weeks, we also got the dragon roll with brown avocado, takoyaki that tasted like old frying oil, and miso soup that tasted like water. I called back because the food was just inedible, I love sushi but this was not it, I could barely swallow the fish, and ended up spitting out more bites than eating. My partner had a few bites and threw up from this.... We called to get a refund because we spent over $100 and had a few bites and literally got sick, we called and they claimed they couldn't find my order and asked if I ordered from Sushi Uma and if I am calling the right place. They handed the phone over to 3 different people because they didn't want to "deal" with this and the girl on the phone said we didn't order from here, they were too busy, and she could find the order even though she was the one who helped me pick my order up, that's pretty weird if you ask me, after I told her she was the one who helped me she hung up the phone. I called back and the man who seems like the owner, asked if I was calling th right place and said he also couldn't find that we paid, he told me to call my bank and figure it out and hung up the phone. Not only is the food bad, the service is awful. I hope they switch things up.

I wanted to try something fresh and raw. There lots of sushi choices in the city and I was looking to try something different on Irving. The red dragon roll at Sushi Uma was delicious. The Boston roll was surprisingly good. Overall a good place to get raw in the city.

When I walked in a nice lady greeted us, as there were 5 of us the wait time was ok, pretty standard. The ambiance was great! Pretty comfortable. I do think the food took a bit long but other than that the food was good, the salmon portion was better than other places that I have been too. I got the Salmon Teriyaki bento, the miso soup was solid, and as well as the whole bento. Would I visit again? Yeah, if I'm in the area again!

Good taste! The service was really fast and the waiters were very kind. The food was properly proportioned and the sushi had many different tastes. If I had to describe it, it would be more like a flavorful punch in the mouth. I would recommend this place to sushi lovers as it is one of the best spots in SF.

We were hungry in the afternoon, and places around me were closed. But we found Sishi Uma. I have passed the place a countless times, but never set my foot inside (but always liked the door design) we ordered fried chicken, miso soup, and dragon sushi rolls. We liked all of them. The soup was hot enough to make me feel warm, and the chicken was crispy and tender at the same time, and the rolls were flavorful. I might come back to try more things and experience their service and ambiance.

I've only tried their food once from the UberEats app. The sushi rolls are a lot smaller in size than regular Japanese rolls. Usually I need to take 2 bites to finish one piece, but the rolls at Sushi Uma I could easily fit 1 whole sushi in my mouth. The rice is not pressed together though, so it does start to separate when you're eating even with chopsticks. I appreciate that they're not at all skimpy on the fish when making their nigiris though! The food is fresh and tasty and on their UberEats, there is a buy 1 get 1 free sushi roll option for the Boston Roll. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of but it's a good value even despite the smaller sizes. Because of the buy 1 get 1 free roll, I still give Sushi Uma 4 stars which originally would've been a 3 for me.

Service was so great, they poured our tea & our sake for us. The food was really delicious, and I love that they open til midnight. Ambiance was nice, I miss the city. Shop was small, but it's decorated beautifully. Last call is at 11:30.

Came here on a Saturday night and it was empty but the vibe was great! We had the tuna, CA roll, red dragon roll and the Lava Roll. The red dragon was my favorite as it had spicy tuna inside and shrimp tempura inside. The service was friendly and fast!

The meat for my bento box was undercooked. Everything else was fine, but was disappointed when some pieces were extremely chewy and barely edible. I had to wait to pay as well since the kitchen staff were also arguing towards the end of our meal and the server was out.

Just had an amazing meal! The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even better. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or just trying it for the first time, this spot will not disappoint. Can't wait to come back!

Yummy sushi in the sunset! Do a California roll and spicy tuna very well. The lobster specialty roll takes a bit to come out but definitely worth the wait.

Had the salmon teriyaki/shrimp tempura combo. Comes with miso soup, CA roll, cucumber lettuce salad, and rice. Large quantity of food for a reasonable price. Added unagi nigiri as an app. Nice server and ambiance.

EVERYTHING TASTED OLD AND FISHY! Not good. My stomach is literally turning right now. I got avacado rolls for my vegetarian friend with a fish allergy and they are not feelings well right now. Only reason why I give them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the walu nigiri was sort of fresh tasting and it was edible. 70 bucks worth of sushi wasted. Don't recommend.

Took my family here for a late lunch and it was one of the worst experience ever. Ordered 4 bentos. 1 salmon which tasted like rubber. 3 beef which was the chewiest beef ever. The sushi was ok but on the smaller sized than other restaurants we've been to. The waiters was in her own little world with her phone if u know what I mean. We were the only customers in the restaurant and we had to waive her down cuz she's on her phone. Not once did she come over to see if we needed anything else or if everything was ok or not. Poor service. Definitely not coming back here again.

Tried the first time, food was decent, definitely will go back for sushi when we r in sunset area, but the bathroom was too dirty... Please keep it clean. Very nice staffs, good sushi rolls & poke salads!!!

Sushi Uma is worth a visit. The service was quick, the place is clean and the food was fresh. We had the sushi combo and Julio and Romeo rolls. Both were delicious
