For me this was a one-time-experience. Was it an extremely pleasurable experience? Most definitely, yes. Will I be dining there again? Probably not. The food was half good/half decent. The Sushi was the best I have ever eaten. It was fresh, flavourful and had a pleasant texture. The appetizers were decent, too much garnish just to make it look good. The fried batter of the tempura was soggy, which I also did not really enjoy. Dessert was nothing special really, should have been a more extraordinary dish. But all in all the most important aspect, the Sushi, was great. Service was impeccable, extremely polite and professional waiters with more than sufficient English skills. The chef did not speak the best English but he was quite engaging and talkative. Not too much to say, service exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is located at the end of the first floor of Four Seasons Kyoto and has a modern and clean style. It looked neat and I felt very comfortable, the counter seat also offered a great view of the preparation done by the chef. I had a great time here, the food all in all was delicious and I was sufficiently filled. The price tag of course was a punch in the face but considering all I said for me it was worth it. That being said I would not come here again simply because the only reason the price was acceptable this time was for the experience. I can get sushi maybe half as tasty for a small fraction of what I paid today. The food itself does not justify the price in my opinion. That is why this restaurant gets a high rating from me but I can only recommend it to you if you want to experience top-notch sushi. If you only want the best value for your money in terms of food then go someplace else. Although it should be mentioned that this is probably valid for any high-end sushi restaurant not just for this one. Sushi Wakon gets an 8/10 from me.

Amazing omakase dinner! We sat at the counter, right in front of the chef who was preparing our dishes and it was a very nice, personal experience. It's awesome to see how the fish is sliced perfectly and how the sushi is rolled with so much care. You could really taste that everything was super fresh and high quality. We also went with the sake pairing, which was a great addition to complement the food! Would 100% recommend this place for anyone looking for a delicious, traditional Japanese sushi experience!

The taste, the atmosphere, the charm, the skill and the hospitality is over whelming Out of all the sushi places in Japan, the number one I know you would never think of going to a hotel sushi place, but it is a must

Our lunch in Sushi Wakon has to be one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Incredible, delicious and fresh fish, amazing presentation, beautiful plates and of course kind and masterful chef - everything was perfect and I’ll 10000% be back here.

The fish were very very fresh. But I felt the rice had too much vinegar. The first nigiri was loaded with so much vinegar (as the same with the rest of the meal) that I couldn't really taste the fish. As the meal goes on, and the heavier the flavour the fish, I suppose the amount of vinegar matches with the fish at the end. But I'm not sure if it's because I got used to the super sour taste? Maybe I don't understand sushi... I felt ashamed to say to the chef that it's too sour. I feel that this was far too expensive, and a major disappointment of my trip to Kyoto.

Google
Not worth the 40000yen/pp unless you are sitting at the sushi counter Food was decent Nice setting Reservations staff moved us to the room because of some diner (I assumed local VIP) bringing extra guests taking up our seat. Thought the food would be of similar quality but it was much worse. Sushi obviously had been sitting near the counter. Slow service.

Yelp
We splurged a bit and tried out this high-end sushi place. I mostly chose Sushi Wakon because they allow kids in the private room and it's hard to find high end places where you can do omakase with kids. They sat us in a very nice private room. Nice view of the garden, impressive art on the wall, and a beautiful table. The service was great. Our server was attentive and friendly and spoke good English. It was definitely good, but expectedly overpriced. There was a good selection of fish, from egg cockle to ark clam. Fish you don't normally see on other menus. The nigiri were rather small though. The cuts of fish were noticeably small. They boast of sourcing their fish from Toyosu market, the issue is if you go to Toyosu market directly you can get bigger and similar quality nigiri for much cheaper. I did enjoy their white wine pairing for the nigiri. I've been to other high end omakase places in Japan where the wine pairings are meh but the sommelier at the Four Seasons Kyoto definitely knows what he's doing. Was it a good experience? Yes. Was it worth the $400+ I paid for it? Probably not. I won't be back just because it's not worth the money to me.

Yelp
I had to try this rest bc it was in the hotel that I was staying (Four Seasons) at. Unlike the rest in GeorgeV Four Seasons in Paris, this one was so so. All the customers were from the States and I felt like I was in the US instead of Kyoto. Nori wasnt fresh... fish were ok. Unlike the traditional omakase restaurants, this place was a little bit loud. Seemed a little bit chaos. The service was excellent tho.

Yelp
This sushibar is located in the Fourseasons hotel kyoto. Producing from the sushibar Masuda in omotesando tokyo. They are disciples of famous sushi bar "Sukiyabashi jiro". But in really I don't prefer the sushi style of Sukiyabashi jiro. They forced us their prefix menu. That was consist from some appetizer and many nigiris, soups and deserts. I mainly prefer to drink alcohol and takes many appetizers, after the drinking I take some nigiris and sushi rolls. Those was my style. This sushibar was served us original tokyo style nigiris. Their sushi rice was too sour for us western japanese. In japan western japanese don't prefer the sour sushi rice. In really this sushibar's appetizer was so good. Sushi fish was so perfect. The defect was their prefix menu and sushi rice. I imagine that this sushibar will change their sushi rice's taste because of the claims from customers of Kyoto, or finish their work here. Bar menu was consisted from wines, beers and sakes(Ginjoshu sake was main), they served no shochu that was may third disappointment. I disappointed forth that taking the photograph was prohibited here.

Yelp
Had an amazing omakase dinner here. Such incredibly fresh fish expertly prepared and served in a gracious and friendly manner. I would highly recommend Sushi Wakon. One of the best sushi dinners I've ever had.

Yelp
The best sushi experience I've ever had in my life. I loved everyone on the staff, due to their exemplary service, awesome personalities, and great food. I hope they receive a Michelin star because they deserve that kind of recognition.
