Sushi Ye - Review - Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Sushi Ye serves very fresh fish in a very small space, and since it’s run by a husband and wife team, a meal here feels more like a sushi dinner party. The affordable nigiri combinations are where you should concentrate - you can get 10 pieces for $30, and you’ll absolutely be full by the time you finish." - Brett Keating

Koreatown Takeout & Delivery Guide

"Sushi Ye serves very fresh fish in a very small space, and since it’s run by a husband and wife team, a meal here always felt more like a sushi dinner party. The good news is, they’re doing delivery through most apps, so now you truly can have the dinner party of your dreams. The affordable nigiri combinations are where you should concentrate - you can get ten pieces for $30 - and Infatuation readers also recommend the Flower Ball, a mix of spicy salmon, crab meat, and masago wrapped inside soybean paper." - brant cox, kat hong

The food is incredibly fresh and delicious! The owner and staff are so friendly, and the place is super clean and adorable. I’ve already decided to become a regular. Thanks for the amazing meal!

Google
Sushi Ye is an excellent restaurant with top-notch service that you don’t encounter anywhere else. They are clearly masters of their craft and the sushi is some of the best around. We enjoyed everything we ordered, including the assorted sushi, the dragon, and the jalapeño yellowtail. Highly recommend this gem.

Google
This place is so fresh and delicious. I stumbled in here on a rainy day and was in for a pleasant surprise. The chef really knows what he’s doing. I ordered the I love salmon roll and a spicy tuna hand roll and both were delicious. The chef also offered a seared salmon piece with a drizzle of spicy mayo which blew my mind. The ratio of rice to fish was perfect and the temperature of the fish was right- kudos also for having green tea that was brewed correctly!

Google
Fantastic little joint that reminds me of places in Japan outside of Tokyo. Small place. Plan accordingly.

Google
Great service, incredible sushi chef, came back twice in a week! Will be my new go to spot for high quality, fresh sushi when I’m in town. Very reasonable prices

Google
This place is so cool, the Sushi Chef is so good, food is so perfect, taste, style and elegance. I would say a must give it a shot. Price is good too.

Google
Our first experience at Sushi Ye was one to remember and we will definitely be back! Such a cute and very clean spot. Sam was an incredible and extra attentive waiter. His service followed us out of the door when we almost forgot our leftovers but he made sure we got them!! Our chef was very nice too :). The sushi we got was super delicious and tasted so fresh and was presented very well. We ordered a lot of rolls and felt like it was served it a way where it was paced out which was nice! Highly recommend their yellowtail jalapeño roll. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
It's the best sushi spot in town. I come here often because there's no need to go anywhere else.

Yelp
Best place in K-town. Fresh and awesome services. Travels from OC to this place whenever possible. MORE fish and LESS rice.

Yelp
They deserve to have 10 stars review I wasn't planning to find my new favorite sushi spot last night... but turns out sometimes the best stuff happens by accident. Our regular sushi place canceled our order out of nowhere. I called to check, and they said they were already closed, even though it was only 8:45 and their hours said 10 PM. So I started looking around Koreatown for something else. That's how we found Sushi Ye. We checked the menu with my wife, and saw many of baked roll options, which was perfect because my wife doesn't eat raw fish. We ordered five baked roll sets for delivery, and honestly, we were shocked by how good they were. Huge portions, super fresh, and really well made. We couldn't even finish everything in one go. I'm literally writing this while eating the leftovers the next day, and they're still really delicious. That never happens. Everything came in nice cardboard boxes, not the usual plastic containers. The rice was well made, the wasabi was great, and the prices were better than the place we used to order from. The next day we stopped by in person to get some rolls for my wife's parents, they live five minutes away, and also to thank the staff. They were so kind and even gave us two pieces of yellowtail sushi on the house. That was a really thoughtful surprise and the fish was amazing. If you're in K-Town and want seriously good sushi, just order from Sushi Ye.

Yelp
Such a cute little neighborhood sushi place with fresh thick cuts. Value price point for combos. The baked crab hand roll and crispy rice tuna sushi are must gets! Free parking as well

Yelp
Best Sushi spot in K-Town Definitely a hidden gem with great service and comfort ambiance. Food was very tasty and server's great hospitality made us feel very special. Must go if you are in the area!

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot with thick cuts of fish and good service. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
This is a cute little sushi spot! Gave me a feeling like I was in Japan when I was seated inside. Came on a Friday night and it didn't have a wait, but tables were filled inside. Everything looked good, so finally settled on 2 rolls and a 2 pc halibut sushi. The rolls were perfect .. had just enough rice and the flavor was on point. The halibut sushi had a good ratio of rice to fish, however the fish was a bit chewy for me. Service was awesome! Note that this place doesn't serve alcohol, but you are allowed to bring your own. Looking forward to trying other rolls and sushi with my own alcohol next time!

Yelp
I love a good lowkey, hole in the wall spot because they usually have the BEST service and attention to detail. This place is exactly that. It's a quaint, cute wooden oasis that has the freshest fish and the best customer service. We ordered the $80 chef's choice and salmon truffle crab appetizer and every bite was HEAVEN. The fish cuts were HUGE and each fish melted in our mouth like butter. Our server was a delight and he spread out our chef choice plates and kept watch so he could bring out the next course at the perfect time. He gave us miso soup & delicious grilled red snapper collar on the house! It was so nice of him. The chef's choice combo had so much food we were sooo full at the end! We noticed that this place doesn't over sauce their fish and it lets the fish quality speak for itself. Their eel was the best eel we've ever had and we loved that they didn't drench it with eel sauce, like many other places do. We had the most amazing dinner here and we'll definitely be back :) the music was good and they were playing a fun show on the TV and we planned to watch it when we got home. We found our new favorite sushi spot in ktown.

Great service and chef gave us an amazing seared salmon special on the house! Cool ambiance as well

Yelp
Very welcoming staff and seating area. The chef and waiter were attentive and the food was amazing. For a place we picked on a whim looking through Yelp. This restaurant exceeded our expectations.

Yelp
The ambiance was very nice. It was a small shop in a plaza with free parking and security guard. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the sushi couple with came with 12 pc plus an extra one. We also ordered the scallop which was nice and sweet. The shrimp tempura was cooked to perfect both crispy and soft on the inside. The total for the meal came out to be only around $100 which is a fair price.

Yelp
This place was a hole in the wall of k-town with easy parking! If you're looking for a lunch/dinner spot with easy parking and no wait time, this is the spot ! Came her for lunch and it was pretty quiet, with 1 or 2 tables seated. It is super clean and the menus have photos on each item, making it super easy to order. Upon entering, the server was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the 10 pc assorted sushi that comes with miso soup and 2pc Yellowtail belly. The chef hooked it up with an additional yellowtail belt plus an off-the menu nigiri. Everything was so good, the way the sashimi is slice gives you the most out of your buck. They are pretty big slices of fish, I was pretty full off my order. The amberjack is a must try and their scallop! I am usually not a fan of cooked fish, but their mackerel and eel was insanely soft and umami.

Yelp
Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars We ordered takeout on Saturday night as soon as they opened around 5 pm. Ordered their Sushi Deluxe, more sushi, and few rolls. I would say it took about 35-40 minutes for all of our takeout orders. This was probably our first takeout after the pandemic, and I must say, they did not disappoint us. As you will see from the photos, they used less rice and more fish. all the fishes were fresh and didn't have any "fishy" like taste. For sushi, it was 5 stars all the way. As for their rolls, it was 4 stars. Our family all enjoyed and were happy with my takeout selections. This may me our new sushi takeout place until we find a better place.

Yelp
Came back for a second round and this place did not disappoint again! I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to the Black Snapper. Sam took care of us at the table while Jun made magic behind the sushi bar. Top notch food with top notch service. Definitely try the chirashi bowl.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Unfortunately, not a fan. Stopped by for lunch with my Mom on a weekend, and we were the only ones dining the whole time. Maybe this place is busier for dinner? Chirashi: I often order chirashi for lunch, and I have never had rice doused in sesame oil. For chirashi or sushi rice, it is usually vinegary and just a tinge of sweet and salty. Even I know that. The rice here was not only doused in sesame oil and salt, it had fruitkake all over it. You could not taste any of the subtle flavors of the fish overlying the rice. It was baffling. Sushi deluxe: My Mom's sushi deluxe was ok. My mom wasn't too impressed with the fish or the rice. I will say that the service was very nice and friendly. My Mom and I wanted to really like this place, but I don't think we will be back. Not sure if it is better during dinner time.

Yelp
The sushi was delicious. The ambience was great. The waiter was professional and kind.

Yelp
Highly recommend this intimate, authentic sushi shop. The chef always has the freshest uni and sushi. You must try!

Yelp
Such a great experience!! Amazing quality fish. Every single bite was amazinggg. The ambience is very homey and cozy. Our server was super nice and accommodating. We ordered the chefs choice assorted sushi, yellow tail jalapeño roll and additional orders of salmon and yellowtail belly sushi Would def come back and highly recommend!! Such a hidden gem
google avatar

Yelp
Simply great fish. Clean and cozy place. Always feels like the sushi is of high-quality and often with that melt in your mouth yumminess. These guys have always treated as well. Not overpriced, not cheap. Would say definitely in the sushi Goldilocks zone.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is INCREDIBLE! The service was absolutely amazing, the chef knows exactly what he's doing and just made an overall wonderful experience. Fresh fish, beautiful presentation, great ambiance. If you're looking for a great spot for sushi, look no further!
google avatar

BB S.

Yelp
This was my favorite go-to sushi spot. Always had fresh huge chunks of fish. Unfortunately I will never return. Ownership has changed. While the new staff are friendly and responsive, the quality of the fish is definitely down. The rice was not good. Too much water must have been used or they didn't rinse the rice. Also not enough vinegar and salt. Just sticky, starchy, dense blah. It is now just sub-par sushi. Don't recommend.

Yelp
Truly a gem! Great service! Fresh sushi and cool ambiance. Good for family. Definitely coming back!
google avatar

Saemyi M.

Yelp
Amazing experience! This is my new favorite sushi spot in town. Located in a plaza with free parking! Nice ambiance, excellent customer service, and high quality food. We had the deluxe sushi combo, salmon skin salad, yellowtail roll, and had the mochi ice cream for dessert. Sushi comes with huge chunks of fish, all very fresh. Everything was just perfect!
google avatar

Shannon K.

Yelp
Fish are very good quality, and the server and the sushi chef are very attentive. The food was tasty and the portions were on the smaller side for the price. The price is on the higher end, especially for this neighborhood. The ambiance is a bit awkward because of the small space of the restaurant and random pop songs quietly playing in the background. All in all, the chances of going back is 50/50. Not bad but nothing special.

Heather F.

Yelp
A small family owned spot that delivers great sushi at reasonable prices. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Lynn ..

Yelp
If you're looking for a hole in the wall small business that serves THE freshest cut rolls look no further! The chef himself goes to the fish market everyday and hand picks the fish . We had a 10/10 experience here. Their sushi is so fresh and they seriously are so generous with their fish portions. Service is also extremely attentive and friendly. Would come back here any day!

Devin P.

Yelp
New owners, the food is terrible now and over priced. I got the Hot Night roll and it was too salty. Looks like it came from Ralphs. I'm beyond bummed, this was my favorite place and I won't be going back. Why is the ginger shredded???

Michelle B.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place. The best sushi in LA and also excellent service. Only complaint is that they don't have hot sake or any alcohol but because of that, I get to spend less.
google avatar

Misikga Mina F.

Yelp
Best sushi! I can confidently say that Sushi Ye is the best sushi I've had in a long time. The quality of their Bluefin Tuna Sushi, Salmon Belly Sushi, and Albacore Sushi is top-tier. The ambiance and service complement the sushi dining experience, making every visit memorable. Thank you, Sushi Ye, for consistently delivering such exceptional sushi experiences.
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Attention!! Ownership has been changed. Quality of food is not what you have before. It's not worth anymore. You could go ralphs to get same quality sushi.
google avatar

Hillary M.

Yelp
I like how small and intimate the spot is, it's quite a hole in a wall. No alcohol. I ordered the 10 piece and they gave me one additional. I also ordered a miso soup (okay). Came with tea and salad. The nigiris were good, but 2-3 of them didn't taste so fresh. I want to to go back again because of the vibe and also to see if the lack of freshness for some was just a one time thing!

Corey S.

Yelp
We were going to see a show at the Wiltern so we wanted to find a place close and I'm glad we found this quaint little sushi spot tucked away in a cozy location a few blocks away. The food and service were great!
google avatar

Henry K.

Yelp
One of the hidden gems in KTown. My hyung is a regular here, my first time. We sat at the bar. The uni was fresh, had 2 orders. Had salmon, tuna and tuna cartilage (first time). Husband and wife team, very courteous and efficient. The interior is cozy, about 4 tables, and 4 seat bar. The bad: no beer & wine license, closes at 8. I will come again...

David S.

Yelp
Nice and cozy ambiance, and the service was friendly and quick! Server gave us a complimentary sashimi that was smoky and tasty. Recommend!
google avatar

Trebla E.

Yelp
This spot is somewhat of a hidden gem, so much so that I almost don't want to share the spoils with everyone ;) But the owners are the sweetest couple and their quality is top notch so they deserve some Yelp love. In a quaint strip mall adjacent YMCA and the Yellow House Cafe, free parking is aplenty in their dedicated lot. Their fish is quite fresh and servings are generous. I highly recommend their sashimi which is the best way to taste the freshness of their fish, in addition to their combo deals which are quite filling. I have only tried a few of their rolls as fillers when I was still hungry while eating with a larger group, and none of them disappointed. They close quite early compared to most restaurants in the area so you have to arrive early. They are prompt with their closing time so don't expect to order anything 30 minutes prior to closing time. Lastly, since it is a very small venue, I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Often, families or groups of business men will fill up the sushi bar and tables quite quickly so plan ahead accordingly. The Couple Sushi Combo can vary depending on availability and daily specials but our order was quite filling and included (4) shrimp tempura, (2) albacore, (2) tuna, (2) yellowtail, (2) yellowtail belly, (2) salmon, and (2) unagi. Combo A can vary depending on availability and daily specials but our order included (2) ootoro or fatty tuna - delicious!!, (2) raw marinated shrimp - delicious!!!, (2) quail egg & wasabi tako, (2) shrimp, and (2) halibut. The do not have a liquor license and BYOB is allowed, so make sure to bring an extra brew for the sushi chef

Yelp
I was looking for a sushi place around my area and I found this place as the reviews were good. I had baked Lobster roll & Paradise roll for to go. They were good, especially the Paradise roll was really good, the lobster roll was good too but little bit dry and chewy, otherwise I liked their taste and the portions. I wanna try their other popular dishes for the next time.

Briana C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious sushi! Service was wonderful, attentive, and very thoughtful as well. We had a lovely lunch, and my two friends and I all said we would return!

Bunny B.

Yelp
My South Philly Italian Mother was in Ktown visiting me and I boldly decided to take my non fish eating Mother to a Sushi place I, a super allergen ridden individual, have never been to. I called before hand and the sweetest most patient gentleman answered all my allergen questions. This restaurant is small, but mighty! Mighty enough to take on all my special requests and not even look at my fork using Mother with judgement!! The talented Chef generously made us multiple soy paper rolls to our specific dietary restrictions and my lord, they were divine! Delicious doesn't cut it! One of the best meals I've had in a while! My Mother is now in love with "sushi" as she didn't actually have any fish, but 100/10 a wonderful, pleasant, welcoming and most of all great experience! Thank you Sushi Ye! I'm so sorry your fussy customers will be back, but I won't be able to stay away!!

Yelp
More like sushi AWWW YE!! This place is bomb! The wooden interior also feels like I'm inside of a boat, like in Noah's ark. When the oceans flood, at least there's still fish. - I came for the nigiri and don't usually order rolls... But their rolls are honestly the best I've had. We had Spicy Tuna roll and Philly roll (salmon avocado cream cheese). It is literally POPPIN with chunks of fresh fish. Thic & generous fish to rice ratio and they add some sesame oil to them which is so simple but amps up the butteriness and flavor. Bc of this you cannot go wrong with any roll. But I especially liked the Spicy Tuna roll (it's not ground up tuna like other places but it is chunky good tuna). - UNI. photos don't lie this is THE UNI PLACE. It's market price ($15.5 for 2 at the time) but again slices are thick. We all mmmm'd eating this. Fresh sweet sweet ocean. -YELLOWTAIL COLLAR. IT'S HUGE AND STEAMING FRESHLY HOT. It was a collar of a huge tuna cause I felt like I was eating a tuna kbbq kalbi. Other collars I've had were pretty small and fatty but na here you're getting good protein. Very good. -Interesting nigiri selections! They nail the classics with good fish but we also got to try and liked Baby Octopus with quail egg (slimy, make sure you chew not swallow haha) & Salmon cartilage (crunchy, almost pickled) -The place is small but a hidden gem so there's not much of a wait. The service is super nice. We celebrated my friends bday as a group and not only did they let me bring my own cake and candles, but they encouraged us to sing and the whole place sang for her. Sooooo sweet. Hats off to the service here, y'all are the best.

Yelp
Sushi is so fresh! Love this hole in the wall spot. Run by husband and wife I always feel so welcomed.

Julee J.

Yelp
Food was great! Service was outstanding. We had 4 pc of negitoro on the house on Black Friday night (after thanksgiving). Thank you! Sushi was amazing. Tuna was my fave of the night. It felt so cozy and homely in there. Would definitely come back again!
google avatar

Shantay M.

Yelp
I have been going here for 5 years and it was so super amazing. No place like it. Original and home feel with quality sushi. Now the older couple is retired and they don't have the same menu. New menu is updated and cheaper and more like all the other sushi places. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Travis H.

Yelp
AWESOME SUSHI. Sushi Ye's new ownership has stepped up the quality of sushi/sashimi being served from previous years. The previous owners quality of sashimi was great; the new owners quality of sashimi is AWESOME! I've eaten sushi throughout Japan including same day catch. Sushi Ye is going to provide you with the same quality and experience from visiting authentic sushi establishments along the coast of Japan. In this picture is Bluefin Tuna Sushi , Salmon Belly Sushi, Albacore Sushi.
google avatar

Charles R.

Yelp
High quality sushi in an adorable little space, perfect for a date. Location is sort of hidden on a side street. My only caveat is, don't get tempura. I don't think they have a fryer and the shrimp tempura that came with the "couple" sushi was probably frozen, reheated tempura, like they have at Trader Joe's. Otherwise, everything was good.
google avatar

Edan D.

Yelp
I want to say how much I love the family that runs this wonderful restaurant. This is my one and only place for sushi, I have yet to find a place anywhere in Los Angeles that matches the quality and freshness of the fish. But beyond the food, they're just very warm and welcoming people...they also tend to add little extra items to my order now and I very much appreciate it. If you ever stop by and see a tall black dude at the counter waiting on his order, it's probably me

Grace Y.

Yelp
First time trying at Sushi Ye and this sushi restaurant has become my favorite. I heard the owner has been changed, but this chef seems to work diligently with pride. The sushi quality is undoubtedly the best; expressions of admiration escape as soon as you eat. Very delicious. Also the people working and the atmosphere of the place are genuinely great. I will definitely come back soon.

Marie B.

Yelp
Came today for my Sisters birthday and the food was so good and fresh. The staff was very friendly. Will definitely come back again.
