I don’t usually get to Marin in order to enjoy Susie Cakes, but when I do, I always make a stop! I get a slice of every flavor to take home with me and share with my family. Today Evan helped me and I’d mentioned that the strawberry cupcake looked so good but I decided to not get one. She packed up all my goodies and surprised me with the strawberry cupcake on the house! Such a small gesture, but that kind of customer service is something that I find special and makes me want to continue to come back as a customer.

I absolutely love SusieCakes! I always buy from the Bon Air location in Greenbrae, and it never disappoints. Their Valentine’s cupcake was simply delicious—rich, moist, and beautifully decorated. The perfect blend of flavors made it a standout treat for the holiday. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, making each visit a joy. I can't wait to try more seasonal offerings in the future! Highly recommend!

We ordered our vanilla celebration retro wedding cake from this location and it was the wedding cake of our dreams! It was ready on time and the team was super helpful. The cake was delicious and I already want to order another one! Susie Cakes is the best, thank you so much!

Disappointed overall. Cupcakes looked nice and the icings were good, but all three of the cupcakes we got were dry or overcooked. We tried the Strawberry, Pineapple Upside Down, and the Red Velvet but had similar issues with all three.

I don’t know what has happened to Susie Cakes over the past couple of years but it has changed, not for the better. The customer service is still top tier. The vibes of the shop are great. But the products themselves have gone down hill. While they boast that they only use real ingredients, the icing isn’t the same. It’s no longer that good classic icing, which gets that slightly crunch outter layer when exposed to air. The taste and texture are gone. It now has that “Safeway icing” after taste that tickles the back of your jaw. Maybe they switched to artificial sugars. It’s also whipped, so it’s fluffy. Yes, that does sound like a good thing, but when it comes to classic American “frosting”, it’s not supposed to be fluffy to the point of aerated like whipped cream. It’s supposed to be fluffy yet dense. The icing/frosting used to be that way with these cakes/cupcakes. That is gone. The cake part itself has also changed. The texture is denser, with a tighter crumb. Not in a pound cake way, but more like it was over mixed and refrigerated right out of the oven way.

Very busy Easter weekend the staff was working and an incredibly fast paced lots of happy customers racing in for their Easter goodies. We’d pre-ordered some beautiful cakes, took a few more minutes to get the order filled. The staff was so wonderful in assisting us and making sure our order was filled properly. They were amazing so helpful so caring during such a stressful time for them. Great service great food so happy these guys were there to help us.

Wow!!! I am so impressed by the custom cake they created for my birthday. I sent them a photo of my cat and they made a custom cake that looked just like him. Not only was it adorable and exactly what I wanted, but the red velvet inside was so yummy and moist. The guests at my party loved it! I am so pleased by them. Thank you for making a birthday cake so special and putting a smile on everyone’s face!

I just had THE most delicious pumpkin spice cupcake. Perfect proportions. I would post a pic, but I didn’t have a chance to take one!!!

Yelp
After a fantastic meal at the restaurant "Fish", we stopped here to get something sweet for the road. This must have been a common occurrence because we had seen several familiar faces from the last restaurant. The cakes we got were delicious. My only small critique would be that the coconut cake should be named pineapple coconut cake and not "Tropical Coconut Cake" because I have a family member who is seriously allergic to pineapple. For safety, maybe put it on the little cake note. The only reason I knew it had pineapple is because I asked. BB

Yelp
I needed something for a friends birthday and knew I liked Susie Cakes from visits in other cities. I was greeted enthusiastically when I walked in which is nice first thing in the morning. I asked a few questions and decided on a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. The girl wrapped it up and said it would be okay for the hour drive I had ahead. She was right. I gave it to my friend and everyone was happy. Thanks again Susie cakes for another delicious dessert!

Yelp
Suziecakes is freaking amazing. You can't go wrong with a single choice you make here. Things to know before you go, they do not accept cash here. This is the the moistest (is that a word? Whatever!) cake you will ever eat in your life. They offer full cakes, cake slices & cupcakes on a regular with extras thrown in like brownies, cookies & lemon bars at different times. They have a monthly specialty. This month was one of my favorites, German chocolate cake & it knocked me off my feet. My favorite is actually an occasional pop-in, the mocha cupcake. I wish to death they would have & carry their dog treats regularly. I was able to get these for my girl one time & she absolutely loved them.

Yelp
First time at Susie Cakes. Leah and the staff were so very welcoming. I came in at 1300 on a Friday afternoon. I was fortunate to have the patisserie all to myself. The patisserie was very clean and all the glass and chrome were quite polished. The cakes and desserts were labeled and easy to read. Leah delivered the old fashioned customer service from mid 20th century. She was gregarious, polite, presentable, professional, well mannered and quite lovely to chat with. All of the patisseries acquired from my first visit to Susie Cakes were delicious. Desserts tasted remarkable because of the ingredients and Susie Cakes recipes. Everything was very fresh and so very delightful. Thank you Leah and staff at Susie Cakes.

Yelp
Recently revisited SusieCakes when I picked up some things for when we visited guests. I'm usually an all-chocolate dessert eater, but this visit reminded me how good the lemon cake is. It's so good, in fact, it's one of the main things a friend of mine who moved back to NY misses about the Bay Area. We all know SusieCakes for the cupcakes, but the cookies are also really good. Bakery large cookies are often disappointingly dry, but the chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies are perfectly chewy even at the end of the day. This is still one of the Bay Area's best choices for birthday and other special (or even not-special) occasion sweets!

Yelp
First time visiting Susie Cakes was for a Too Good to Go surprise bag. Our bag included one slice each of chocolate cake and lemon cake, and 8 vanilla cupcakes, so a great value. The cake slices were huge! The cake was moist and icing the right level of sweetness. The cupcakes were a little drier and less exciting in flavor, but to be expected for vanilla and TGTG. The service was quick, and while the store was closing down the space was large and inviting.

Yelp
My first time at SusieCakes and it did not disappoint! Right when we walked in, the staff greeted us and asked us if we had any questions as we were browsing. I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I really wanted to try one of their cupcakes. I decided to get the Strawberry Rose and 7-Layer Bars. The cupcake was very dense and the buttercream paired perfectly with the cake. The bar was chewy and I tased bits of coconut with each bite. I can't wait to try other items next time!

Yelp
I've ordered cupcakes from here on multiple occasions as well as first birthday smash cakes and they are always able to accommodate my requests and the product is delicious. Their cookies are also amazing. We love Susie cakes!

Yelp
Always a treat when I come here! Came here for the special Pineapple Upside Down flavor cupcake. Left with some others, as well! The others were also the special Sno-Cone cupcake (very colorful), lemon (my favorite), and the classic Red Velvet. All were delicious, and the pineapple actually had chunks of pineapple in the cake itself! Quite a surprise. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but the special flavor offerings and even the good old standbys are worth an occasional for myself and my family. Heaven help me if I don't bring them their favorites!

Yelp
Visited this shop last week when I was in the area. This company hasn't been on my radar, but if this store is anything to go by ... IM A FAN! I got 3 flavors to share with friends: Strawberry, Lemon & Pineapple Upside Down. I love lemon, but I'm picky. Lemon desserts have to have a tartness to them and this had the perfect balance of flavors. The Strawberry was good, but not remarkable; however, I've not had a better non-fresh strawberry icing. The Pineapple was the bomb!!! It's been almost a week now and it's probably a good thing I don't live closer or I'd be there like every other day. The fellow waiting on me was super nice and said I could get a free cupcake as it was my first visit to their store: not sure this was legit or he was just being kind - I have the grandma vibe going for me. The chocolate was perfect, but as a confined chocoholic, choosing between it and the pineapple would be hard! The cake itself for all the cupcakes had great flavor, and the crumb was what you strive for when baking. Frosting tastes like real BUTTER cream. I've not looked into the facts though, so can't verify. Their layer cakes looked incredible and I have to try a slice sometime - hopefully soon. Check them out!

Yelp
Bought a whole Celebration cake for a birthday. It was dry and hard! Almost flavorless. Clearly had been frozen. Think the family affair with Suzy's is over. Stuck with over half an expensive dry, flavorless hump of cake. You use to be the place to go.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about SusieCakes, but what truly keeps me coming back--aside from the delicious red velvet cake--is the amazing customer service, especially from Kalie! She goes above and beyond to make every visit special, always greeting customers with a warm smile and genuine kindness. It's rare to find someone who makes you feel so welcomed and valued, and Kalie does just that. Her attentiveness and friendly personality make the experience just as sweet as the treats. SusieCakes is lucky to have her, and because of her, I'll keep coming back for more!

Yelp
I'd like to start by saying the staff on hand handled the situation with grace and did the best to their ability to accommodate me. So this review is less about the staff on hand and more about management/the company. I ordered a cake with the same-day pick up and added a custom description that said "love you forever and ever". When I got there, I asked to see the cake to make sure the description was correct. This was for the first birthday after my grandma's passing to honor her. To my disbelief, the writing on the cake was absolutely not the standard of a Susie cake. I asked the staff on hand why the writing on the cake was so different from the other cakes in the case. The staff on hand said the baker had already left and the only one left to do the writing on the cake was the retail staff who don't know how to do the typical writing. The writing was amateur and very sloppy. If the baker leaves at a certain time, custom writing on a cake should be eliminated off the order. To pay $60 for 6 inch cake and to not have the writing standard that I deserve, is unacceptable, distasteful and is giving money hungry. If I would've known the writing would've been like this, I would've happily gone somewhere else and plan ahead next time. Absolutely unacceptable.

Yelp
They always come through for any occasion(s), always a huge hit at birthday parties. It's so easy to order online via their website, then pick it up. They have a section for pick-ups and voila! The staff are friendly and attentive, no RBF's here lol. They're willing to help customers the moment you walk in. All their cakes and cupcakes are divine. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to be. There's plenty of parking at Bon Air shopping center, and everything is one-stop shopping. Get lunch at Gott's next door, get your groceries at Mollie Stone's, get some necessities at CVS, get your pet food at Woodlands, etc. These days, SusieCakes is closed on Monday and Tuesday, so don't order your cakes for pickup on those days. I hope they bring back their delicious pies and whoopie pies. 'Til next time ~ cheers and see you on Yelp (SYOY)!

Yelp
Love coming to the location in Marin County, there's so much more eateries around! Their location has plenty of parking and so much selection in the display case I also like that they do Apple Pay! Today I came for a carrot cake and a snickerdoodle staff was super friendly and looking forward to future visits

Yelp
Cake Heaven. "A party without a cake is just a meeting." -- Julia Child My friends and I came upon SusieCakes after grocery shopping. The display of cakes caught our eyes and we had to walk in! This gem is Literally like a cake candy store! The cakes are beautiful, the cookies are large, and the cupcakes are colorful. The store embodies Nostalgic Impressions of traditional home made treats! Just so welcoming. Staff: wonderful and friendly! Love the way they take the time to package your items into lovely blue boxes which are wrapped in white bows. Stop in and find yourself In Cake Heaven.

Yelp
Amazing! Amazing cupcakes, moist delicious cakes, friendly fellows who work there, clean spot, fair prices and the best seasonal specials!!! We are so lucky to have Susie Cakes around.

Yelp
For the girl (potentially woman- so sorry not certain!) who was super kind and sweet a few months back assisting me at the counter. My overall review is due to the following: I was on an excruciating time slot, yet was patiently informed that Susie Cakes does NOT take cash. To be frank, there was no genuine feeling in my body of having any form of self-confidence within it. Yet, as I became even humiliated at the fact I only had cash; the person assisting me did NOT allocate any attention to my insecurities in those moments. Instead, she displayed a supportive demeanor and helped me deliver my goal of giving my client their "Thank You" cupcakes. Just by this small action of non-nonchalance and a quick problem resolution, my company has been ordering holiday sweets from this Susie Cakes since! Something to further highlight: In my first and third person observations and direct experiences, any company can have a great product or service. Yet, it is those whom take it upon themselves to maintain a perpetual sense of sentimental and competent collaboration, that truly thrive. For acts like this one, businesses like these will start bringing in clients whom not only reciprocate what they are given, but they'll make sure to add some interest in return! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your quick mediation and kindness. You turned an anxiety filled afternoon into a sweet one!

Yelp
Susie cakes strawberry berry cake is in! my favorite, i went to pick it up and to my surprise, it was packaged in a BOWL. Very disappointing, I wont be buying it after all, small bowl for $8?? Bowl vs Slice, the cake is advertised as a slice and should be sold, as a slice,
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
I placed an order online in the morning, needed the cake the same day and it was done with everything I needed. With only 24 hours notice there are certain cakes that are not available but plenty that are. I got exactly what I wanted with the colors, plus candles and napkins I forgot to buy. It was perfect. The cake itself was moist, the icing was amazing. Thank you so much!

Yelp
Confetti cake was amazing & customer service was incredible got a free magnet & also loved the chocolate vanilla cupcake!!

Yelp
Yesterday's purchase of 4 various flavors of cake translated into endless dismay. As a baker and someone who knows good cake crumb (Rubicon bakery), yesterday's cake batter was heavy, dry, laden with air holes, and the frosting was cloying and dry! Dry!!! I know Susie cakes from Orange County and S CA in general. I've no idea what happened yesterday, but it was glaringly clear to me that someone horrible made those baked goods. It's very awful to state even a Safeway cake would have bested some cake for dessert at a family get-together. Could not believe the experience.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this shop, and I have to say, it was extremely expensive and not up to par with the prices. With that written; the banana pudding was delightful and my niece loved her shamrock sugar cookie. It's in a busy location, and I know a lot of people love this place. I love cupcakes, but didn't try one, I might try again another time. The woman who helped us was very friendly and helpful.

Denise M.

Yelp
The staff went above and beyond for my Holiday order. All staff members were smiling and positive in all the interactions with the customers. Although they were unable to fill my order, the staff was incredibly professional and accommodating to make sure I left the store with delicious and festive cookies and cupcakes for my staff event.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Susie Cakes used to be my absolute favorite cake spot. I'm really disappointed in their price gauging. I understand with inflation prices are higher, but these prices are shameful. Charging customers $3.00 to write on the cake is absurd. Since when did you start charging for writing? I would never charge extra for writing; it takes 5 seconds and the cost is under a nickel. $50 for a basic 6" cake is nuts. The cost of making a 6" buttercream cake is under $20, and yes, that includes high quality European butter. Honestly, the small $3 for writing is what got me. Making special cakes for people should not come with greed. Susie, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Tommy D.

Yelp
1 star for service. I bought a cake today, Dec 3, 2024 at 5:09 pm. I have been buying cakes here for years as they are delicious. I bought a 6" red velvet cake for $49.99. I asked for them to write on the cake. First, they looked like they didnt know what I was talking about and then they said they're too busy working on an order. wow! If you own Suzies, imagine paying your employees wages and benefits but they're too busy to do their job. 2 ladies behind the counter that are too busy to do their job! You have excellent product, excellent store ambiance but bad employees.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely hate to leave bad reviews, but I feel like people need to be warned. Stopped here for 4 cupcakes ((2 strawberry and 2 mint chocolate) and a cookie to share. When I say that was the driest vanilla cupcake I've ever had, it's not an exaggeration. It had to have been old? Not sure. I took a small bite and threw the rest away. The strawberry buttercream tasted old as well. I understand not wanting to throw away unsold product (pure speculation but I'm assuming with how dry the cake was and the weird texture of the buttercream that was the situation). I have no problem paying premium price for a premium product, but this was not that. When you're charging $5 for a small cupcake, you should put your best cupcake forward. Maybe sell the old ones as day olds and discount them? The chocolate was slightly better, but again most went into the trash. Even my roommate who has a huge sweet tooth said it was disgusting and threw them away. The cookie was unremarkable. I will say customer service was really good and packaging was cute, (even though putting them in a box with no dividers means they move around and get messed up) which makes leaving a bad review even harder!
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
Yet another cupcake chain, and far be it from me to complain. The world arguably needs more cupcakes, and to address that we all need more willpower. Or a fork. Yes, I will be the one with the fork. A cute retro styled shop full of pastel confetti colors and great branding. Moist cake, very sweet buttercream filling, and your regular cupcake flavors: white cake with buttercream, chocolate cake with chocolate or vanilla buttercream, a red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and usually one or two seasonal flavors. At the holidays, a thin mint with chocolate and peppermint or an eggnog. In the new year, banana cake with chocolate pieces topped with vanilla buttercream. They don't have quite as many flavors as other cupcake shops I've loved, but since those shops are in other cities and not in Marin, I will try to find some gratitude and learn to accept these cupcakes in whatever format they come in. In addition to $4 cupcakes (a little less, but rounding up) they also have birthday or celebratory cakes for ordering, at fairly steep (about 50 dollars and up) Marin-style pricing for a small cake. They also sell very large saucer sized cookies, including chocolate chip and snickerdoodles.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
The staff here gets 5 stars. They are all so sweet, even the day before Easter when the crowds are crazy, they still took the time to help me and were patient and kind. They were set up to manage the volume of order pick ups for Easter and I think they had a good system in place. Even without a pre order I was able to order a few things on the spot. Very sweet staff and will be back!

Yelp
I have always wanted to go to SusieCakes but it was always closed. My bad on the timing. Well, I finally went and their cake did not disappoint at all. The cakes are very tasty and fresh with a great selection too. They said they are bringing back the chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting. I can't wait to try it. I give them 5-stars partially because their branding is so on point as well as the beautiful and delicious cakes. Go get some cake!
google avatar

Derek S.

Yelp
This is our go to bake shop. Their apple pie, chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies are my favorite but pretty much everyone else loves their cupcakes! (Just not a cake person) anyway, you can't go wrong here. Great food great service!

Aimee E.

Yelp
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly cashier! Ive always been a fan of SusieCakes. (I have fond memories of my dad surprising us with desserts from here when I was younger). They have a great selection. The cupcakes are delicious and not too sweet!

Sarah D.

Yelp
We ordered cupcakes for my kid's birthday and they were really cute, but also they are just really good cupcakes. We have a lot of leftovers because I always over estimate, and I might end out eating them all.

Yelp
Thanks to SusieCakes for another holiday success! Given the disruption of life this year, it was wonderful to have one tradition executed perfectly. Their pumpkin pie is just as I wanted it to be - flaky crust, pumpkin filling that isn't too sweet and housemade whipped cream to top it all off. We also decided to try their pumpkin cheesecake this year and not only did it have that delicious graham cracker crust that I crave, but the sour cream topping that they ice it with sets it off beautifully. Thanks to the team at Bon Air for having everything ready when I arrived to pick them up and for handling social distancing and the new normal precautions with grace. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon to pick up some cupcakes and it was pretty busy, parking is easy in the shopping center and lots of people were picking up pre orders of cupcakes and cakes. They have slices of cake, cupcakes, and full cakes. The cakes definitely look so cute for parties and there are multiple layers. I was there specifically for cupcakes and I got each flavor they had. I asked what the most popular was and they said they're all pretty popular, but I don't really remember. I got red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, mocha, coconut, flourless chocolate (I think that one is gluten free), their seasonal cupcake was something I don't really remember... the cupcakes were pretty sweet, soft, and moist! They were regular priced, the inside was cute and there's plenty of outdoor seating outside to enjoy the weather or pick up other food. I think it's worth a try if you've never had SusieCakes before.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
I've popped in to Susie Cakes for a sweet treat on many occasions. They have a constant selection of cupcakes and cakes and seasonal rotations too. I love the coconut cupcakes. Not overly coconutty but enough richness to make you so satisfied. Their Lemon is light and sweet and tart a at once. I'm not sure how they make that happen but it works. My kids love the chocolate with vanilla frosting, they showed me how to lick all the frosting off without getting any on your nose (it's a skill apparently) Last weekend I was browsing their website and saw they were doing a fundraiser for Ukraine so I got a few boxes of cupcakes to share with family and friends. What a generous and kind thing to do. They have little things for cakes too, candles etc. it's an excellent shop with high quality baked goods. Keep it coming Susie!

Jody C.

Yelp
This place is great. Recommend the flourless Chocolate and Coconut Cupcakes/Cakes. Reviewed it once and was disappointed with lack of options but it turns out that was only a Valentines day thing due to them being so busy. Been there several times since and been super happy. Thanks SusieCakes!

Yelp
Have ordered lots of cakes & cupcakes here. Had a family member that used to work for another location. Love the birthday cake - ate a slice for breakfast this am.
google avatar

Bennett V.

Yelp
I used to love Suzie Cakes and I'm sure their cupcakes are still great. But this one star review is for the fact they have gone "cashless". I can't support businesses that are moving us toward a dystopian future. Once cash disappears and the programmable central bank digital currency arrives, you will be limited in the number of "sweets" you can buy each month, so Suzie has enabled her own downfall. Wake up people! Keep the dollar alive.
google avatar

Yelp
I picked up their champagne cupcakes & Happy New Year sugar cookies for a New Years Eve-Eve gathering I had last night ~ I do love baking, but am SO happy I did not go to the effort and let Susie bake for us. The cupcakes were just delicious, with the best frosting, and I love me some buttercream. The cookies were brilliantly decorated and actually tasted good - my first pretty sugar cookie that was actually tasty! Many thanks to Susie Cakes for quality products and saving me hours in the kitchen. A Happy New Year indeed!

Yelp
1 star seems to generous actually. Got 4 cupcakes. Each one more stale and dry than the last. Absolutely disgusting. Would not recommend getting anything from the case from them.

Norma A.

Yelp
I don't normally review but thought future customers should be aware. I ordered my birthday cake, the 6" lemon cake, as lemon curd is my favorite. When I cut into it, there were four layers of cake and curd. There was very little curd and the cake lacked in flavor. The outside of the cake was say too sweet with all the sugar crystals. My guests and I took one bite and pushed it aside. Very disappointing, especially for the price. I think I'll stick to the cupcakes because they are always moist and tasty.

Yelp
As we were walking around this area, we stumbled upon Susie Cakes and noticed the long line. And usually long lines = deliciousness. I looked at the online menu and saw that they had coconut cupcakes, of course we had to try it. I'm not a baker or cupcake connoisseur but the cake itself was dry, I don't know if they used yesterday's cupcake and added the frosting and shredded coconut on top, but I can certainly say it was dry. My husband's first thought was "It's dry. Let see what you think"- he was right. The frosting was super sweet. Let's just say, for a little over $8 for both cupcakes, I don't think we will be trying another one unless someone purchased it for us. Let's hope that their cakes are much better.
google avatar

Jean M.

Yelp
We gave SusieCakes another try and ordered the coconut and pineapple cake for my son's birthday. It was ready on time, the inscription and sprinkles were as requested, and it must have been delicious because there was none left for us to try after my son and his fiancé were alone with it for a day. The service was fantastic and everything was so orderly--a complete change from my last experience. I'm delighted that the store is open again--masks are required and the number of people is limited--all as it should be. But, it is wonderful to be able to order in person and pick up a cake and see that what you have is what you want. It's great to see staff not stressed out, and to be able to buy and extra cupcake or two. I'll be back very soon.

Yelp
Update: Barbies of Color have arrived! Thank you!!! Love SusieCakes. Rating a two in the hope that this location (and all locations) will begin featuring Barbies of color in their well-loved Barbie Cake. This location has featured the same blonde Barbie in different window cakes for more than a year. Please consider inclusion and diversity next month and all year. Thank you for your consideration and the best cupcakes in the Bay

Yelp
I like their cakes, baked well and never complain about their taste. But I still don't under how they can have such bad cake decorating styles! I'm never impressed by any of the cake designs at Susie cakes and just decided to take that in. But when I come to the store and pay over $50 for a cake I would think the design would be more jaw dropping.
