The 16 Best Restaurants In Venice, Italy 2024

"There’s almost always a line at Gelatoteca Suso, but it usually moves pretty quickly. While the gelato flavors change seasonally, some of our favorites have been walnut with caramelized fig, a double caramel and toffee mix, and a dairy-free raspberry and chocolate sorbet. It’s a good place to come if you’re gluten-free or vegan—they have gluten-free cones and certain flavors made with rice milk. Take your gelato to the nearby Rialto Bridge and watch the sunset." - gillian mcguire

9 Best Gelato Shops in Venice | Condé Nast Traveler

"Gelatoteca Suso is a classy gelateria with more than two-dozen Instagram-ready flavors like mascarpone with fig and walnuts, Orient Express (with ginger and cinnamon), and passion fruit. It’s clear the folks here take gelato quite seriously, as evidenced by the artful presentation, immaculate storefront, and the employees’ sleek, black-and-red uniforms. The shop is also keen on experimentation; a riff on Japanese mochi, for instance, stuffs peach, pistachio, or chocolate gelato into rice pasta." - Jenna Scatena

Ice cream was rich in flavour and delicious. Recommend Olympia if you like hazelnut and pistachio. It was very rich in flavour so one scoop in enough. I would come back to try other flavours.

We saw a long line of people and decided to join it and try the ice cream ourselves. Even though we waited for about 20 minutes, it was absolutely worth it. This is probably the most delicious ice cream we have tried in Venice. There is a wide variety of flavors to choose from. The most interesting part is that instead of a standard cone, you can have the ice cream served between two slices of panettone, which makes the experience even more special.

Absolutely the most fabulous gelato I’ve ever had! The quality is top, but the real star of the show is the Olimpia flavor. It is genuinely brilliant - perfectly balanced taste that you won't find anywhere else.

I was so excited to try Suso, and the flavors did not disappoint! They have a huge, inventive selection. I tried the Manet (a rich chocolate-hazelnut gelato topped with a salty-sweet pistachio cream) and the Suso (an amazing double caramel that tasted like a classic liquid toffee). Both were incredibly flavorful and tasted very high-quality. I loved the signature "SUSO" cookie they add on top. My only suggestion for improvement is related to the temperature. The gelato was served very soft and was already melting the moment I received it. It seemed like it hadn't finished cooling completely, which might have been because of how busy it was. Despite this, the taste was excellent and I'd still recommend it for the unique flavors.

It tastes really good (flavor Suso is my favorite) but the staff ruined my moment. With my husband we were enjoying our ice cream and taking pictures until one member of the staff, screamed at us to say we needed to get out because it is not allowed to stay inside. I get it the lady was maybe tired of a long day but clearly it does not allow her to speak to a client this way. I leave a picture of the store so that you see we could not disturb anyone where we were at.

Delicious gelato from suso creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The texture is perfect, and the place itself has a warm, charming vibe. Definitely worth a stop if you’re nearby!

Google
If you are looking for authentic gelato in Venice, Suso is an absolute must-visit. The gelato is fantastic, rich, and creamy, and it is clearly made with high-quality ingredients that offer a genuine taste of Italy. Beyond the delicious treats, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Considering the amazing quality and the popular location, the prices were very decent, making it a perfect spot for a sweet break.

I am usually a bit wary of shops with lots of colourful mounds of gelato but Suso is an exception. Even in winter you will find plenty of locals and tourists alike stopping by to sample thier wide selection of interesting flavours. Sometimes there is a queue as its a small shop but I recommend the wait. Visited twice on my recent trip to the city and greatly enjoyed!
