If you’re craving a no-frills, punchy Japanese rice bowl, Sutadon-ya hits the spot. Their pork bowls are saucy, savory, and unapologetically heavy — not fancy, but that’s exactly the point. Portions are generous (don’t show up on a full stomach), and the spicy version packs a nice kick without nuking your taste buds. The vibe is fast-casual; you order, you sit, you demolish the bowl. It’s the kind of comfort food you want after a long day, when you just need flavor and satisfaction in one shot. Nothing delicate, nothing “refined” — just good old Japanese power bowls. Worth the visit if you’re in the mood for something hearty and fast.

Very pleasant experience! It's very convenient to just use the touch screen to order your food and see what's to offer. The "happy hour" option is also very nice. Luckily I visited when that window barely started. Very straight forward and no complications. Food was nice. Curry was delicious, but I personally like it spicy. They do offer condiments that you can add to your food to spice it up though, so that's always nice. It let's you enjoy your food as you like it. So it's not much of a downside. Chicken katsu was very flavorful and tender. It just melts in your mouth. The panko was so crispy and added to the amazing texture. Only thing I recommend is bring your own drink from the next door market place, but that's not much of a drawback.

Stopped by to check out this new location since the move from Western. The ordering kiosk was very straightforward, no need for interaction with staff unless you want to or need help ordering. It would help if the ordering kiosk was more user friendly with pictures and more or a description. I tried to order a plate that I saw on the TV they have out front. What I was served didn't match what I saw but it was delicious anyway! I was completely ready for the consequences of not asking for help. The food was nice and hot when it was served. The portions were very good. The flavor of the stamina chicken were amazing. My order with a Coke came out to $25 and I had half of it left to take home. The Yakima so a was good too. I'll be trying this place again with some help from the staff next time.

A lot has changed since I last been here. I used to eat their food when they still had cashiers to take your order. My go to was always the sutadon bowl or the spicy fried rice. It's sad to realize that they no longer have spicy fried rice on the menu. The new look is very on point with the current times, but I just wish sometimes a person would take my order as the menu can be a bit confusing if you do not know what to eat/order. I now just stick to the sutadon bowl as it is a classic and never disappoints.

**Disappointing Experience at Sutadonya** I recently visited Sutadonya with high expectations, but I was deeply disappointed. The portions served were significantly smaller than what was advertised in the pictures. What looked like a hearty, fulfilling meal in the photos turned out to be a meager serving in reality. The discrepancy between the advertisement and the actual dish left me feeling cheated. Not only was the portion size inadequate, but it also failed to justify the price charged. Overall, I would not recommend Sutadonya if you're expecting a meal that matches the enticing pictures on their menu. There are many better options in the area that offer better value for money

This is a great place to get yummy hot bowls for lunch or dinner! The food is good and fresh. I really liked it - they have a variety of Katsu and chicken / meat bowls. It’s located in mitsuwa market at the del amo fashion center and because it’s part of the food court in the market, the food is made hot and fresh so it’s more expensive then the bento boxes from the fridge/area in the back of the market. Both the cold bento boxes and these hot bowls from the food court are really good but the fridged ones are a lot cheaper! Sutodonya bowls are also heavier - lots of sauce / curry over the meat if that’s what you ordered. If you’re eating here make sure you come hungry. They serve more rice bowls/plates items. I gave it three stars because it felt a bit pricier for what it was (although I liked it and it was good) if we’re discussing price and quality I thought the quality was okay for the price compared to the fridged bento boxes which were delicious and cheap.

Normally decent, today waited 45 minutes (yes a full 45) for a chicken katsu and rice dish. They may have had problems with the fryer? Totally burnt, inedible, couldn’t chew through the chicken carcass. No apology for the wait time. Just not up to any standard.

Why are you working without wearing gloves? Without measuring the weight of the noodles, without wearing gloves, he put them into a bowl with his hand, then touched his nose with the hand he had touched, then he put them in a plastic bag and threw them to the side. Then, another person cut green onions with his hand, also not wearing sanitary gloves, and touched a tray of food ordered by another customer, then went back and cut green onions again. It was so unpleasant and dirty that I cancelled my order. When I tried to report this to the Torrance Health Department, again, my grade was B. When I asked three employees why they weren't wearing sanitary gloves, they looked at me with unpleasant eyes instead. *The kitchen is so dirty, *the employees' clothes are dirty,* and they don't wear sanitary gloves while working. The household rating is City Hall Health Department's rating is B.

Yelp
Plot twist: Del Amo Fashion Center has two food courts. This is the best one, including Sutadonya. Located at the best food court inside Mitsuwa Marketplace, they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I came here for dinner on a Sunday evening at approximately 6pm. It was quite busy, but the wait wasn't too long. I ordered their Chicken Teriyaki don rice bowl. You simply order using their kiosk. Within 5-7 minutes, my order was ready! It had a generous and thick pieces of Chicken, glazed in their special teriyaki sauce with a dash of julienned ginger, green onions and cabbage. There's an option to add extra teriyaki sauce using a bottle located on their condiments section up front. Upon first bite, I immediately tasted the umami flavor. The teriyaki sauce itself is 10/10 because it was not too salty and was perfectly sweet to my taste. The chicken was tender and grilled to perfection. The rice was steaming and were paired well with the other ingredients. Moving forward, I will patronize Sutadonya whenever I'm in the mood for a teriyaki bowl or plate at Del Amo Mall.

Yelp
This place is a place that I've been craving! I wanted to Karaage Chicken, so we came here on our wayback home from a shopping trip. We got here about 40 mins before closing & ordered two different Karaage Chicken dishes. Unfortunately, they only had enough Karaage Chicken for one order. So, we decided to keep mine, which was the Karaage Chicken Teriyaki Plate. Let me tell you why I will 100% come back. Because they did not have enough Karaage Chicken, they tried to refund part of my order but were unable to do so. Instead, they gave me a full refund & still provided my single order. They were very apologetic & were incredibly kind! The Karaage Chicken Teriyaki Plate had so much flavor & the bits with the onions were the best touch! Pair it with the rice & it balanced out the saltiness of the chicken. The fried gyoza was also delicious...! As for the ambiance, it is a dining hall/food court area, so you just find a table & eat your food! They kept the tables wiped down & cleared fairly quickly, so there is ample seating both inside & outside in a covered patio area.

Yelp
I have no idea why this place has such a low review but for actual savory food, main meal places in the Mitsuwa food court, this is currently my favorite place. They focus on donburi or rice dishes and they have lots of different combinations and sides that you can add to your meal. You can either order ahead for pick up from their Menu 11 site or you can order right then and there at the kiosk tablet. The shining star for this eatery is definitely the seasonings and sauces that they have for customers! They have unique twists on some classic flavors and each bottle/shaker has their own descriptions as to what they are and have some fun POWER UP boosting names. An example would be Heartful Indulgence which is a Garlic Teri Mayo. Truly giving off shonen training arc vibes if I do say so myself. My friend and I shared their Sutadon combo plate which comes with your choice of gyoza, a side of shredded cabbage salad, and miso soup. We got our gyoza age style aka deep fried and also got a second helping of the shredded cabbage salad (goes GREAT with their sauces/dressings btw). This combo comes with rice and the protein is stir fried teriyaki pork. The combo is a decent portion size and I feel like if you're visiting a food court and you're not a local, the best bet is to share as much as possible and this was shareable between 2 people with some leftovers too. The pork was nicely seasoned, hearty, and also had seasoned sauteed onion slices in it too. Great teriyaki flavor that's not too salty or overpowering, went great with rice. Gyoza wasn't bad either! The deep fried exterior wasn't hard and it wasn't dry. Freshly made. Loved the customizability and the eatery really featured what they're best at - their don (rice bowls!), but the real showstopper for me was their yummy sauces (which we kept going back to get more of as we were eating our meal lol).

Yelp
This is my go-to place for Japanese curry. Ordered the chicken katsu curry and was able to satisfy my curry cravings. I was expecting it to be on a plate as displayed in the front, but the workers assured it is the same portion/amount in the bowl. Satisfied that the $14 meal could be split between 2 people - I shared with my not-so-little 12 year old. I think it's a pretty decent price for a one person meal, too. (Esp with fast food combo orders averaging the same price for less nutritional value) They gave more than enough curry, the chicken was cooked well and the breading was perfect. We left fully satiated. There weren't many tables open since we visited during dinner rush, but the tables that were vacant were well kept and clean. On beautiful weather days there's outside seating too. I have yet experienced a time where there were absolutely no tables available, even when it's crowded you're bound to find a place to sit and eat.

Yelp
This place is a hit or miss. Unfortunately this time around it was a miss. I got the spicy pork bowl and it really didn't have any flavor. It was very plain and the spicy level was there for the first two bites then gone. There is no service to really comment on as when you order you order on the screen and don't have any interaction with anyone. Which I think is pretty crazy to then ask for a tip! This place is located in the Del Amo Mitswua so be prepared for a crowd if you go on a weekend or during lunch time. They have plenty of seating inside the food court and outside on the patio. Overall, it's a decent price, but for the meat to rice ratio I don't think it's worth it.

Yelp
My bf and I dropped by Mitsuwa since we were at the mall and because the one that they opened near us doesn't have nearly as much good stuff. The food court here is incredible and so much room to sit! We love eating at Mitsuwa's food court but unfortunately ours back home doesn't even have a food court. We found a spot to sit immediately and we got some food to share from this place since we weren't super hungry. Got the Curry Rice, Chicken Katsu, Fried Rice, Teriyaki Mayo, and Sutamina Chicken (super garlicky chicken) which was all absolutely delicious. I couldn't believe how much garlic they put into it but we loved it! That's exactly how I wish all garlic chicken was. The curry and katsu were great, delicious fried rice that wasn't dry, and their teriyaki mayo is fantastic for dipping the katsu in. This spot is amazing and will definitely be coming back next time we're in the area. Wish they'd open one up in the San Fernando Valley because we'd be there all the time! IG: @ammysalamii

Yelp
Bought on Uber. Paid extra for pork in my pork bowl. Look at the picture. Does this look like even a regular sized portion? I know they skimp on extra pork at times, but on this third party order it's extra egregious. Do not get extra pork. And that they charge and don't give you extra is shady enough to not even go there.

Katrina V.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, the wonder that is their teriyaki sauce. Is sake the secret ingredient? Their salmon bowl is enjoyable. Their steak is available in only five orders a day. Sutadonya ("rice bowl" + "house") is inside Mitsuwa (Japanese grocery market. At their food court area.). I had the crispiest chicken katsu ever. With fine curry sauce. I loved the pink pickles, also. Yakisoba noodles here look fresh and tasty, too. If you are still reading and new to Japanese culture, I also recommend anime and manga to go with this great food.

Nha L.

Yelp
The meat is tasty and tender but the sauce is too salty. My friend ordered the stir fried pork combo and it was also salty, not to mention that the miso soup was unedible salty.

Charlize V.

Yelp
The rice was a little cold with the Karaage bowl? The bowls themselves were also pretty cold and the flavor for the Karaage in this bowl wasn't anything special. However, there are some times when this bowl is great for filling myself up and pretty tasty! The service is all right, not much to say about it since you order through a screen except for that one time when one worker completely ignored me when I asked if my order was there. Turns out, someone took it without them clarifying first! Overall not very memorable but I would come again.

Dhanushree P.

Yelp
I was really excited to try one of their bowls because it looked soo good in pictures! I was looking to have a traditional Japanese pork and vegetables bowl - and that's what I ordered here. Very disappointed. Not only did the food take 30ish minutes to be ready, it really just tasted like a panda bowl. The only 'seasoning' I could taste was soy sauce. Meh. I unfortunately also saw one of the people working there accidentally slap a receipt in someone's bowl and then fishing it out with their fingers and closing the lid on the bowl. I did not like it. I will not have it again.

Yudai K.

Yelp
William was the best! He helped me out with all the things, step by step. Told me all of his recommendations too. The place was not in the best place but William for sure made it better. They have a cool vibe thanks to William.

Maruko X.

Yelp
Ambiance: the food court is located inside Mitsuwa store Service: self serving order via the touch pad, wait for text message or check your order through the counter Food: their menu has preset combo or you can build your own bowl and plate Build Own Bowl - **** choices of White Rice, Sutamina Pork and Sutamina Chicken, Soft Boiled Egg, Red Pickled Ginger, rich in flavors, recommend Price: generous portions and decent quality, expect about $15 per person for a fulfilling meal

Judy L.

Yelp
Despite having such a large number of customers, I was honestly surprised how quickly I received my meal. I ordered the karaage teriyaki garlic chicken don and my lord was it good. The chicken was juicy, crispy and was coated in a such a yummy sweet, savory and heavily in garlic flavor sauce. I love garlic so this was absolutely amazing for me. However if you're not a huge garlic fan or if you don't want your mouth smelling like garlic for the whole day this probably wouldn't be the thing to order. However, I will say it was a bit on the salty side, but the portion size was well worth the money. I also ordered a side of takoyaki and was slightly disappointed that it was warm when I received it and the taste was just okay, so most likely won't order that again.

Alex C.

Yelp
Wanted to try something different at the food court in Mitsuwa at Del Amo Mall. I ordered a chicken bowl with white rice and a combination with chicken katsu, yakisoba , and pork with veggies. The order took over 30 minutes and they forgot the soft boiled egg side and tonkatsu sauce for the katsu. The meal was over $40 and not worth it. While this place says it a healthy option and popular in Japan, I don't think it's run very well here in the US. Veggies were undercooked and noodles weren't very flavorful. While the servers were apologetic for the slow service, the digital kiosk did nothing to expedite service. I would not recommend and there's plenty of other options in the food court. And I forgot to mention that the katsu tasted like old burnt oil. They need to change the oil. Should not have to mention it to any restaurant making katsu or fried food.

Steve R.

Yelp
Was here a couple of weeks ago and had a very nice and simple dining experience. You order and pay off of a tablet at the front counter, and that was new for me (I'm old) but very easy. I got a plate with their thinly spliced pork, karaage chicken, and yakisoba noodles. Since my son and his fiancee were with me, we also split an order of takoyaki. Overall, the food was good and it didn't take too long to prepare. I would come back again.

Brenda L.

Yelp
The good: You self-order from a tablet and are given a text when your order is ready. I like how there's plenty of seating options both indoors in the food court but also outdoors in the adjoining space. I like the outdoor option because I can let my 21 month old roam a little there. It's a casual and quick lunch or dinner. I got a pre-set chicken karage bowl with their sauce and a build your own 2 meat bowl with spicy pork and chicken. I liked the soft boiled egg and pickled radish. The bad: I wish we were given more than just 2 pieces of pickled radish for the build your own plate. The build your own plate came with too much rice. It would've been nice if we had more vegetable add on options that didn't cost extra. The karage was soggy. I know there's a sauce on it but if it were freshly fried and then tossed in sauce it would've had a different texture. The temperature was also just luke warm. I was in the middle of ordering when the tablet shut down and required an employee to re-enter a code to reset it. The worker told me the tablet was the only way to order. The interesting: They have a second location in Chicago.

Rick S.

Yelp
This place in the Mitsuwa Market located outside of the outdoor area of the Del Amo Mall in their Asian (Japanese) Food Court is "Okay" I tried their Curry Chicken Karage and it was okay. This is not "destination dining" where I'd come here specifically to feed a craving for the or their food. I'd not kick it out of bed if someone want to go there and ask me to join 'em either. The ordering style is counter service with a computer screen self service. The portions and prices are "okay" so overall it's a solid experience without any major regrets. Parking is easy.

Michael K.

Yelp
My go to place was closed for lunch so I tried something new. I ordered the Takoyaki (Octopus balls), Chicken Katsu Don and the Karaage Terijaki Garlic Chicken. Neither my daughter or me were overly impressed with the food. The Octopus balls were filled with some strange sauce that didn't taste good. The Chicken Katsu Don was good, but chewy. The Teriyaki chicken had so much garlic that even the Sprite felt like it was garlic flavored. Overall a big disappointment. Next time I will go back to my usual spot. Better food and lower pricing.

Matt S.

Yelp
4.4 out of 5 stars for the pork bowl! poached egg was a bit over cooked which didn't let me make that creamy sauce with my rice However the ribbons of perfectly cooked pork belly, onions, and green onion in the heavy garlicky Sutamina sauce/broth? was outstanding. Best lunch option if you're into that garlicky rice bowl vibe 2.8 out of 5 for the clam chowder croquette Served in a styrofoam cup that legit started to disintegrate because of how hot the freshly fried croquette was. The $4 pricepoint with the relatively smöl size didn't justify. Flavor was there with a nice crunchy panko exterior and tender potato and clam chowder filling, nothing truly spectacular but solid! If you are at Mitsuwa and are in the food for a nice hearty and GARLICKY meal. You definitely gotta pull up to Sutadonya!

Luke L.

Yelp
Sutadonya is one of food vendors in Mitsuwa Food Court in Torrance. I came here as the last resort as (1) Mitsuwa Marketplace ran out of grab-and-go sushi at 7:30 PM and (2) Mugimaru + Toritetsu closed at 7:30 PM. I didn't want ramen or cold bento box, so I ended up trying Sutadonya. [Parking]: Easy weekday parking for Mitsuwa Marketplace. [Ordering]: I placed my order via kiosk and leave trays on the table after the meal as the vendor doesn't take them back. I was given a buzzer and my order was ready after 15 minutes of waiting. [Menu]: According to the monitor, sutamina (aka garlic) pork is #1 option and spicy sutamina (aka garlic) chicken is #2 option. There are five steps to place an order: choose style, choose rice, choose meat, choose topping, and choose garnish. *** Curry bowl (grain rice, sutamina pork, spicy sutamina chicken, special A1 sauce, pickled radish - $14.99 + extra $1 for grain rice and extra $1 for picking half & half protein): I was not a fan of "special" A1 sauce as it tasted super vinegary. Pork tasted a bit salty, but spicy chicken was nicely battered and was slightly less salty. Curry wasn't too bad with right amount of kick and had enough portion to eat together with rice. Pickled radish was good. A for pickle A for spicy sutamina chicken B for curry C for sutamina pork F for special sauce *** So what's the perk of overpaying for a Japanese rice bowl? Just one reason - steaming hot food. For the best experience, no need to pay extra for grain rice and just get spicy sutamina chicken.

Enya K.

Yelp
The Japanese chef disappeared, and the food became less delicious. The taste is too strong.

Emily T.

Yelp
I happen to try this place because I love the Mitsuwa Food Court and it caught my eye because they had curry! I'm a huge fan of Japanese curry and was super excited to try out this spot. Ordering was a little confusing because they have a lot of different options but in the end I got the sutadonya curry bowl with egg and was really happy with it. Food was great, service was fast and overall I'll most likely go back again for their curry and other items!

Sakiko E.

Yelp
Japanese casual food court set menu with lots of protein choices. Make your own dish was perfect for my husband and this crazy looking curry over rice bowl with spicy pork was just the things he wanted! Their toppings and side choices are great. We picked a yummy egg and karaage and everything was good. Since it is located in the Mitsuwa Japanese supermarket food court, it is easy to shop before or after there. Parking is also easy. It could get really crowded as it gets close to the lunch time on the weekend but you can find a table probably. I would recommend this place especially if you like having lots of options. Their contactless order screen is easy to navigate but their rewards program could take a few minutes to set up and I am not sure if it is worth doing unless you come here that often.

Kristopher M.

Yelp
Sutadonya is a Japanese Donburi (rice bowl dish) shop serving up filling and tasty dishes in the Mitsuwa Marketplace food court. You can customize your bowl or plate when ordering via their tablet at the front counter where they have plenty of options to please any flavor profile. I personally have grown fond of their fried rice bowl with spicy sutamina pork. I will note that if you plan on eating at the food court be alert for open tables as this place can get really bu and finding open seats can be a challenge. Pro Tip: after you order your food you can buy a beverage (ramune) and dessert (mochi) at the adjoining market while you wait.

Vicki C.

Yelp
I got the garlic pork bowl. The pork is on the fatty side but had a good flavor. I tried the karage chicken which was soft and not too dry. The rice was probably the best part. It was cooked to a tense softness that I didn't want to waste any and it tasted yummy mixed with the runny egg it comes with. There's also pickled daikon which helps balance all the richness.

Benson K.

Yelp
One of my favorite comfort food lunches is donburi, and I've known about Sutadonya for quite a while. Many Mitsuwas have Sutadonya, including in Chicago. I decided to visit this particular Sutadonya for lunch. I ordered a sutamina pork bowl with karaage and a soft boiled egg. I also had another option of a side and got takuan (pickled daikon radish). The portion was incredibly generous, and had a large bowl of rice. The karaage was slightly on the blander side. However, the stir fried pork with vegetables was quite tasty, and went well with the soft boiled egg. Everything blended well together, and I liked all the flavors mixed together. Solid lunch spot in Mitsuwa, and a solid donburi chain.

Diane C.

Yelp
Quick and enjoyable experience. Was craving Japanese curry and ramen so Mitsuwa was the perfect spot to get both without going to two places. Decided to try the chicken cutlet curry at Sutadonya, portion is good size. I just wish they had spice levels but other than that, curry had great flavor. Much like the other food stalls, you order at the front, they give you a pager and you wait for your food. Food came out decently quick, probably under 10min.

Taylor U.

Yelp
Pretty cool system. Located inside Mitsuwa, in Del Amo Mall. It's besides couple other restaurants in the food court. These place serves bowls and i think udon bowls as well? You order from a touch display and no interactions needed to order. Not sure how you can pay with cash. I ordered the spicy pork bowl with white rice and soft egg. I got it to-go and it was under $12 with tax. Considering how expensive food court prices are, this place is surprisingly affordable if you're on a budget! Tastes pretty good. Rice is a bit dry, due to the quality of rice and not how it's prepared. I worked in a japanese restaurant before and our rice was always dry no matter what. But this place has a lot better quality rice than my previous work. Would recommend here for rice bowls.

Domonique S.

Yelp
Ordered the sutamina pork bowl, which came with a soft boiled egg. The meat didn't have enough sauce for my liking, but this was totally my fault. There is a sauce and seasoning bar next to the ordering kiosk where you can deck out your bowl (chili powder, white pepper, extra sauce, and a whole bunch of stuff). I unfortunately didn't make use of this, so next time! Service is good. You order at a kiosk, and they text you when your food is ready. Place is located inside Mitsuwa in Del Amo Mall. Plenty of seating, but the area can get a little crowded. Nonetheless, I don't think it should be difficult to find a seat. Overall, yummy pork bowl!

Jon A.

Yelp
Whenever I visit Del Amo Mall and want something quick and enjoyable, I go to Mitsuwa on the side and get Sutadonya. It is a pretty good spot for a quick lunch or dinner. It is at a food court so the vibe is very busy and friendly at the same time. Sutadonya has an easy ordering system that you can select your food and pay on a tablet. The curry is great, the only thing is the portions sometimes but still delicious. I usually come here for the garlic pork bowl. I just love garlic and meat so this is a great mix for me every time when I want something quick and yummy.

Cheryl T.

Yelp
Pretty popular spot for a quick lunch or dinner. They have a great ordering system that allows you to select your meal and pay on a tablet. The only downside is when people decide they want to look at the entire menu on the tablet before ordering. That's when the lines can get long. My daughter and I ordered the chicken karage curry. It was delicious! The karage still remained crispy with the curry. The one thing I did notice was that my two pieces of chicken were smaller than what my daughter had on her plate. Despite this, we really enjoyed our meal and the simplicity of everything. Once we ordered, our food came pretty quickly. Next time I'll try another bowl!

Yessenia D.

Yelp
Not big in service. You just go up to the kiosk and order yourself. Food if prepaid fairly quickly. The chicken karaage with curry is what I recommend

Tony F.

Yelp
Like os, it seems many people were confused about the new menu and self ordering system. Basically, they have streamlined everything and there is more meat and less vegetables than before. Tips: We used to love their lunch combo with fried chicken, rice, salad, and soup. It was perfect. To get the same, the new way is to order Chicken Bowl with salad and soup on the side. Don't forget to ask for the garlic sauce, which is the best part!

Kumi K.

Yelp
Their sutamina pork bowl is good, but so disappointed on vegetable pork and sutamina tofu plate. Vegetables were way undercooked that I feel like I'm eating raw veggies !! I usually like crunchy veggies on stir fried dish but this was not edible. Way too raw. I couldn't eat most of the dish. And there's only one tiny slice of pork. It's over priced for its quality and the portion size. They trained employees well for sutamina pork bowl and I wish they do the same for other dishes.

Ann Q.

Yelp
Convenient and fair pricing. Got the original garlic pork bowl. OMG yes it is garlicky! And I'm not just talking garlic essence, I'm talking full on raw pungent punch you in the face raw garlic!! I personally couldn't stomach too much of it. BF on the other hand didn't mind it and actually enjoyed it so more for him! My fault for thinking it would be something similar to sukiyaki beef bowl. Egg was perfectly onsen style!!

Yelp
This is a restaurant inside the Mitsuwa food court, which specializes in rice bowls. "Suta" comes from the English 'stamina"; "don(buri)" is 'rice bowl'; "ya" is a suffix for shops and restaurants. WTF is Sutadon? Their best seller is stutadon. Thinly sliced pork stir-fried and served on rice. It's pretty garlicky (you are warned). It's almost like "gyūdon" (i.e., beef rice bowl), but it's garlicky and less saucy. They stir fry the meat after each order. Order Process You use a touch screen to order your food. It's more or less self-explanatory. For rice bowls, you need to opt-in or opt-out a "soft-boiled" egg. It's more like a "rare" poached egg. The yolk is runny and the egg white is cooked enough to hold the runny yolk. Anyway, if you don't mind eating an undercooked egg, go for it! You can choose extra rice and extra meat. I found the regular amount of rice to be plenty. Verdict I wouldn't say amazing, but it's good for a quick lunch. ************************************************************ If you found my review helpful, please smash the "useful" button! Yelp
Delicious chicken cutlet and anything fried! I ordered the curry build your own combo and it was beyond flavorful and delicious for a fair price. The garlic pork is what stands out here - so aromatic and fragrant, if I come back I will for sure get the garlic pork as one of my items.

Yelp
Ordered the garlic pork combo with miso soup and fried chicken. Food was good and came out fast. Fun food options in the Japanese market next to Del Amo.... Very convenient after a movie

Yelp
First time trying this place out in the new location. Still great flavor! Got the Fried Chicken Curry. The consistency of the curry was perfect. The flavor was decent as well. It didn't come with any spice but they gave me a little container of sriracha and spice powder which went well with it. I think this place really excels at their fried chicken. The chicken it came with was fried perfectly and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. I remember at the old mitsuwa off western, i'd just get the fried chicken and was happy. Overall, they have really good fried chicken which I'm sure compliments whatever you pair it with.

Yelp
You only come here for one thing; the namesake Sutadon. There's a thick layer of pillow-soft, paper-thin pork with stir-fried onions and the most perfectly poached egg. Get the extra meat - it's worth every dollar, and it's only a few dollars at that. I usually prefer the spicy version, but here the regular garlic pork is better. There's a ginger version if garlic is too much for you, and there are fried chicken options too, if that's what you're feeling. Sutadonya has a bowl for your every craving, and I highly recommend one anytime you're there.

Yelp
I hadn't eaten here before and I was shopping at mitsuwa so I thought I'd try. Their display window of "plastic food" had these bowls and a description of them that implied it was their specialty. I ordered the spicy garlic. They make it to order so it took about 10 minutes. It had a soft boiled egg on top, a good amount of pork and pickled daikon. Good value. The spicy pork wasnt terribly spicy , so if you're sensitive to spice you can easily eat it. The drink options are coke, Diet Coke, sprite and water. Pity, as Japanese ice green tea would have been a great accompaniment.

Yelp
Came here to get a to go order while I was waiting for my Mo Do order. I decided to get the chicken katsu curry, and requested the curry in a separate container. The chicken katsu was fairly large topped with katsu sauce. Had I known, I would've requested to have the katsu sauce in a separate container. I would've preferred not to have the katsu sauce at all since it came with curry. The katsu was a bit over cooked. The katsu sauce with the curry was competing each other and was too much. The curry had thinly slices of pork and onion. The curry was solid good. The rice has a fairly good amount of ginger. If I ever come back here again, I'd ask to hold the katsu sauce. The katsu doesn't need it since you have the curry.

Yelp
The cashier was a tall guy wearing a cap with long unkept hair that got all over our food. Gross!

Yelp
I really like the food, chicken cutlet curry and the pork are so delicious, I always like Japanese curry and this one is really authentic. And their services are so good as well.

Yelp
Was going to order when I saw this girl at the front counter touching her nose and fixing her hair then arranging the food in the trays for pick up!!! Besides their complicated stupid ordering system!! No wonder they are not busy,

Yelp
I usually don't write review even if its bad.. but this place was pretty bad. 1- They are know for the pick your own dish, bowl or plate, but when I tried to select bowl option they removed bowl option. They only left the place options which is more pricy. 2- Tap water- per cashier I have to pay for it. 3- Plastic spoon- very cheap selection considering it's an asian restaurant selling a rice. 4- Food... My husband eats everything even if it's not that good.. but he even said don't ever buy from this place..

Yelp
The quality of the plates here has decreased dramatically... I ordered the chicken karaage teishoku, which used to come with at least 3 massive chunks of fried chicken, but this time I got the smallest pieces ever. And they had the audacity to raise their prices? What's worse is that the flavor is different than what it used to be and the chicken was not crispy at all. The sauce seemed to taste very different in a bad way. So disappointed in what the quality here has become...

Yelp
I don't know if today was just a bad day for the restaurant, but I got a chicken cutlet bowl where the breading was super thick and would just fall off before I even bit into the chicken. Was definitely not what I was expecting, having gotten cutlets from the old Food court before. Would not get cutlet from this place again, maybe their curry or beef bowl is better?

Yelp
The food is horrible don't go here. I ordered the chicken cutlet Don. The chicken is soggy and dry and was practically inedible. It came with a soft egg which did nothing to improve the dish. It was just like eating a bowl of white rice for $15. Can't rate service because with the iPad ordering there's no interaction with the guest. Don't waste your time. Find another spot in the food court with better tasting food.
