"Sutton’s relaxed, neighborhood vibes, comfort food staples (like the classic burger and shepherd’s pie), and easy-sipping cocktails (with a drinks menu that changes seasonally) are what make it the choice spot to unwind after a long day or to catch up with friends. For some extra fun, check out its weekly entertainment calendar full of events like bingo, quizzo, and live music." - George Banks-Weston

I’m from Italy and I’ve been looking for fresh pasta in Philly for the longest time. My girlfriend and I went on Monday night, when Peppe was there. The service was super friendly and nice, we sat outside and enjoyed the music. We ordered all the pasta dishes on the menu, including antipasto and dessert - can’t recommend this enough. Everything was delicious. If you want to try some REAL AUTHENTIC Italian food, Sutton’s and @PlatesByPeppe is the way to go. 10/10

Wow. Went to Brewary (great) next door. Stumbled on this place had to go in. I was amazed at the memorabilia, art work, old cash register, old pics on wall, stained glass nicely placed. Bartender was very friendly and appreciated him giving me samples. Love the Beer. Great selection. Wow. Outdoors, foosball table... plenty of seating. Cool relaxed vibe. Had grilled cheese and AMAZING hand cut fries. The owner talked to me and he is such a nice man. What love he put into this place... please support him and this amazing place... I got to see some old books... WOW what history. Highly recommended 👏 ❤️

After a long day of decorating, We made our way to Sutton’s, one of the few places with a 4.9 rating on Google and a 4.8 on Yelp. Reviews really do matter. From the moment we walked in, Correna (I hope I spelled that right!) gave a warm, welcoming greeting, and we think that’s one of the reasons this place has such a stellar rating. Not only was the service fantastic, but the food didn’t disappoint either. We went with two orders of wings (Thai Chili and Buffalo), fries, and a side of Brussels sprouts. The wings were perfectly cooked—baked rather than fried—with just the right amount of flavor. The Brussels sprouts had a great balance of sweetness and vinegar, without being overwhelming. The fries were thick and satisfying, and Correna made sure we didn’t leave a single bite behind. Great job, Sutton’s—keep it up!

Google
Nice neighborhood gem with a pretty solid smash burger and fries! Service was solid, a good variety of food and drink options in a nice pub like environment. We will certainly be back!

Google
Great place- you REALLY want to come on a night when Pepe is cooking (Italian chef). Think its every Monday. They do a custom menu made by him, and it is fantastic. Can’t get fresher pasta than from a Napolitano chef. Also… one of the best cheesecakes / best dessert I’ve ever had. Will absolutely be back for Pepe!

Google
My friends and I came in last Friday night and had a great time. From the outside it looked more like a bar so I was surprised at how good the food was. I got the PLT and it was delicious. The draft list was great and our server was really knowledgeable. I can’t remember her name but I think it started with a K, but whoever was working 5/30 around 9pm thanks for being great!!! And to to off a really great experience, the bill was very reasonable. I’m definitely planning on coming back next time I’m in Philly.

Came by Suttons after an afternoon visit to the Neon Museum nearby. When we came in it was pretty empty but by the time we left the bar was bustling with locals. The vibe was very chill and I enjoyed interacting with the employees, who provided great service. In terms of beer and cocktail options, the draft list was above average and the cocktails were made very well. The liquor selection was lacking, but that's likely not the reason most people would visit to begin with. Finally, we ordered the Buffalo wings and fried chicken sandwhich. The wings were only okay, however the chicken sandwhich was really great. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in the neighborhood. Some other quick facts: They are not cash only, reservations can be made online, and there is an outdoor patio area in the back.

Google
The food is delicious, the menu changes from time to time as they constantly improve upon themselves. The service is top tier, they're super friendly and willing to accommodate. The atmosphere is great! They have live bands playing regularly, and weekly spelling bees. Overall, can't recommend enough!

Yelp
I'm obsessed with Suttons. I've even tried to copy the aesthetic for my home. The place is a celebration of industrial Kensington. The atmosphere is often great though it has a reputation for being a little dead. The servers are special. JawnyQ quizzo on Wednesday nights is an go to. I'm not wowed by the food but the food is pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
Yum yum yum I usually get the double burger but thissssss chicken sandwich I'm a changed woman. And then this Cosmo w st Germaine instead of triple sec

Yelp
We wanted to try something new so drove in and met up with a friend for happy hour. But then I found out they didn't have happy hour on Mondays and it was a limited menu for pastas. It worked out since I love pasta (the flight was good). The vibe there was really nice and comfortable. The bartender was nice and helpful. I'd like to try visiting again when their normal menu is out.
google avatar

Hayward L.

Yelp
Chill local bar with a good selection of beers on tap. Birria tacos were on point, so stuffed and flavorful with lots of dip. Loved their fries and corn as well. Wasn't very full when we came on a Wednesday night, the staff were really attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back!

Liz M.

Yelp
I've been to Sutton's a few times now and it really is a great neighborhood spot Solid food and drinks and always good service. My last time there we happened to go on Taco Tuesday and we were pleasantly surprised with the burrito (chicken tinga) and birria tacos. We also got the burger, wings, and the potato/parsnip fritters I haven't had a bad thing yet
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Good atmosphere, the bartender was great, engaging and friendly, the service was good, the food was good but the wings were to small for the high price we paid, overall I would return but not for the wings,if you do get the wings make sure you get the sweet Carolina sauce on them, it tasted great.

Yelp
Sutton's is one of those places that mysteriously draws you in and makes you feel like you've been there before. The space is decorated with historic pieces of local neighborhood and Philadelphia ephemera - it's almost like you're sitting in a time capsule and a museum in one. There's always something new to discover and learn when you look upon the walls, and there are always new curios making their way into the space - Niall, the owner, has a keen eye for finding incredible treasures that harken back to Philadelphia's past. The bartenders here are welcoming and kind. They'll let you sit quietly (if you're having one of those days), or engage you in meaningful conversation, if you're in the mood. They balance great service and great personality incredibly well. The food is always a hit. Their menu has some classic staples that you can never go wrong ordering - the wings are my absolute favorite but many people can't get enough of their burgers. Their rotating specials are always something delicious and worth a try. Stop by to try their newly added Full Irish Breakfast on the weekend. Overall - this place is a 10/10 in terms of atmosphere, coziness, and just the kind of third place you'd be happy to visit whether you're into drinking alcohol or not. There are rotating Quizzo nights, pop-up vending events, live music, guest chefs on Monday + so much more. I recommend following them on IG to stay up-to-date on their events!

Yelp
The bartender kinda looks like Timothy Olyphant. 10 out of 10 for me. The food and drinks are also quality. But seriously check out that pic. Am I right or no?
google avatar

Tori F.

Yelp
Cool spot that wasn't too packed on a Friday night, we snuck in right before happy hour ended where they had $8 single margaritas and $20 pitchers and opted for a mango margarita pitcher which was delicious! The birria tacos were amazing. The service was a little slow considering that it wasn't too busy, but not that big of a deal since my friend and I were chatting a bunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in to Sutton's to watch futbol and football--all with a delicious Irish Breakfast. Our bartender was lovely and the food was solid. The bar is gorgeous, with plenty to love as it relates to Philly history and curiosities. Lots of details to enjoy, and great company to boot. Check it out!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Philadelphia. Friendly staff, consistently delicious and fairly priced food and cocktails, and great ambience and atmosphere. I was introduced to the owner, Niall, right before we left .The owner, Niall, really went above and beyond with the design and the little details really stand out and set this place above its competitors. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
I don't go to Suttons often but I really love it when I do. I like the ambiance of the bar. The wings are good. Bar specials during the games too.
google avatar

Shanel S.

Yelp
The food is ok. Just ok gives a 4 star for me. I wish it was a bit more flavorful. It is there but then it misses. Server was great and attentive. But the WINGS that's what I suggest. Fried hard with sauce on side. Wings and drinks. They have a healthy pour and you will love the combos. I'd return for the WINGS and drinks. Burger was just ok. The fries were tasty. Chill place, seems like a bunch of locals are constants. The tacos needed a bit more flavor. Especially a birria taco. Even dipping it didn't add flavor. Mines are better. They were out of a few things and menu was changing the next day so perhaps perhaps that's why they were off. I'd go back for the WINGS and Oaxaca old fashion. Yes please!

Rachel C.

Yelp
Really liked the vibe. Food was good. We came right before kitchen closed so they brought all 3 courses out at once which was not ideal, but overall a good experience and would revisit.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Chill spot. Courteous staff. Quaintly furnished. Food portions were bit small but flavors were really good.

Yelp
I live up the street from this bar and bring people here sometimes. They have a great happy hour and bingo nights on Tuesdays and one night I went and they had a spelling bee lol. The owner will talk to you and all the servers / bartenders are super friendly. I've gotten food from here several times and everything has been really good! I took a picture of my burger but when I go back will get some pictures of other things. I've gotten wings and birria tacos as well, would recommend everything. Another place that I would recommend that gives Philly vibes. Check this place out!!!

Daisy O.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot. Friendly staff, great cocktails on tap and good vibes. Haven't had food there yet but the desert was awesome. Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Good wings, beer and outdoor space. Cool staff. I drop by for a bite when working late in the area.

Mike G.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere and every time I've stopped in, I've always felt very welcome and relaxed. The empenatas and burgers are great and the place is reasonably price. I love this place.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped here during happy hour for a drink and a bite. There atmosphere was pleasant, with a happy clientele and friendly bartenders. The beer choices for Happy Hour were very limited and nothing seemed interesting. We each chose a Margarita which had a violet color (pea flower infused). They were tasty and had a nice kick. For food, there were also fairly limited choices. We shared 2 empanadas (1 each of Tinga and Birria), a cucumber, sesame, seaweed salad , and 2 street corns. Everything was very good (not exceptional but very good). There was nothing I wouldn't order again. Overall, we had a fun time here and, when in the area, would consider returning.
google avatar

Sara G.

Yelp
There aren't nearly enough neighborhood spots where you can get a solid meal and good service while listening to excellent music. Friday nights at Suttons is exactly that place. I save my cheat day for their wings and it's totally worth it.
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
Never have I ever had a bad experience at Sutton's! The owner is incredibly sweet and the food was amazing! Monday's are pizza and bruschetta only, which we didn't know, but we were blown away by the quality of the food and the quality of service! Will be returned any day of the week!
google avatar

DZ C.

Yelp
Amazing place! Great food and great service. Came 2 days in a row. Last night was so good we came back again when we realized we were so close. Add the Brussel Sprouts and the special corn from last night and you got it all. My wife and I will be back.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
This cute little spot was perfect to grab brunch. They offer bottomless mimosas which is great! I ordered the breakfast sandwich. You have the option to build it how you like, so I chose ham, Gouda on a biscuit. They make all theirs pastries fresh in house- so our server recommend to try it with the biscuit and I was not disappointed! I'll definitely be back, as this is down the street from me.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite bars in Philly! Great decor, friendly staff, and the owner is wonderful. In addition to the historic wood bar, they have a lovely covered patio. The architectural finds that adorn the bar and patio really give this spot a unique look and atmosphere. You will find no other spot in Philly with quite this sophisticated charm.

Nathan B.

Yelp
Food was excellent - limited menu but done well! Service was friendly and quick Ambiance had a lot of local flavor and was very cute The drinks were not great, and the tap selection was limited, but that was no big deal.
google avatar

Bryce F.

Yelp
Quality consistent burger four times in a row. Great environment. Dog and kid friendly.
google avatar

Kimberly A.

Yelp
Wonderful wonderful service! The vibe here was sooo warm and welcoming. The hostess/waitress Chris was amazing and so accommodating. We had the fried pickles for appetizer and they were delicious! I had their take on whiskey sour..8/10. My friend tried a few of the local draft on tap and she was also pleased. Great place for happy hour. Loved the atmosphere I definitely will return.
google avatar

Dahren D.

Yelp
Catfish sandwich was great! Fries were too! Customer service was also awesome S/O Kev! Nice environment. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

K H.

Yelp
Excellent! Our whole party enjoyed their food. Chicken burger was delicious. Fries delicious. Yum yum sauce! Brussel spouts are a must if you like them! Service was attentive and friendly. Spacious and they have a patio area too. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Great chefs choice for take out! Sutton's is just far enough from Temples campus that I'm sure few students have ventured this way to check it out, but THEY SHOULD! With amazing food and a full bar it's well above what the other campus bars have to offer. Tonight my friends and I went for the Super Bowl. They had free appetizers of buffalo chicken dip, pigs in a blanket, and pastries with savory fillings. I got the blueberry cider, fried chicken sandwich, and Brussels sprouts. My friend got an order of their buffalo wings. Everything was amazing and we will definitely going back! I would recommend this place for anyone looking for some elevated bar food and a cool atmosphere

Janet M.

Yelp
Great wings and nice little hidden gem. Not far from a rock climbing place . Good drinks !
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
Great! Brought the family there for a recent birthday party and everyone had an excellent time. Friendly wait staff and delicious food.
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
I hope this place survives. It was excellent. I think there used to be a factory over here that threw parties. Other than that it relatively barren. This little gem is hidden amongst the unfinished construction. The decor is pretty cool. Parking is easy. Food is awesome! We got the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower to start. Both super good. Then I got the mushroom salad and my wife picked up the meatloaf. I really liked my salad but upon tasting her I think she won this round. It's a little ways from everything I know so you'll probably have to drive. I implore you, try it. Multiple times. Only you can prevent foodie deserts.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
Our friend just graduated from law school (yay) and we wanted to go somewhere in her hood. I came across this place with 5 stars (okay) that had a good amount of vegetarian options for my vegan/vegetarian companions. We decided to order everything off of the happy hour menu. Their happy hour drink selection is also solid. It was all GREAT! Only thing I wouldn't order again is the Falafel. It was kind of crumbly. Also I am cheap, I get it- but maybe add something non fried to the happy hour menu? :3 oh and the wings were so good. They taste smoked, yum yum yum.
google avatar

Tong C.

Yelp
Cozy great neighborhood bar with a wide variety of beer. Had fish taco last night and it was great. Tasty and affordable. The bar is very comfortable with a very nice atmosphere, patio space looks very nice but didn't try as it was too hot out last night, Will def go back to try the patio. Check it out.... u won't be disappointed.!

Yelp
Pretty good experience on my part!! I went with a few friends and some of them didn't enjoy their meals as much as I did and thought it was a little weird but I enjoyed it mostly. It's a cute small bar restaurant. Not a ton of seats but was super nice and chill in there! The waitress was very nice and accommodating. I got the school teacher cocktail and I HIGHLY recommend. Super light and delicious. We got the chips and guacamole- the chips were VERY salty and the guacamole was very "lemony". The fried pickles were good though! I did not try the Brussel sprouts but I heard from my friends that they weren't amazing. The falafel was always a bit odd but still was pretty good. The BYO burger was KILLER. 100% you need to get that If you are in the burger, which I always am. Amazing blend of meats and great fries to boot!
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
Great burgers and fries. Wings with buffalo sauce always good, albeit a bit smaller than they used to be. IPAs are on the draft list. Choice of inside or out. We chose the backyard this round with the nice weather. Always warm and homey inside - looking forward to post-covid. Great staff, always welcoming and friendly.
google avatar

Ryan O.

Yelp
The Sutton's Burger with the blue cheese has to be in the conversation as the best in town and is worth the trip for non-locals by itself. Nice secluded back patio with cornhole. Get ready for the pun jokes because they come fast and furious here lol. Great spot.
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
The space was chill, cozy and quiet on a Wednesday night. The bartender was nice, and the dirty martini was excellent. I moved nearby so I'll definitely be going back often
google avatar

Vianny R.

Yelp
Just the name alone made me love it. I went this past weekend for a birthday brunch and this place is a gem! It was so good and so close to home that it may just become my new neighborhood bar! It gets a solid 4.5/5 from me. I went with a group of five and the group consensus was a very well-deserved five stars. Suttons is small, cozy, and delightful! The BOTTOMLESS mimosas were the most noteworthy part of the experience - made to perfection with a 70/30 alcohol to OJ ratio and continuously replenished. Five pitchers later we were feeling pleased and very buzzed. The 2nd best part were the Brussel Sprouts...I can firmly say that I've never tasted better brussels sprouts in my life. The recipe is super simple (crispy brussels just tossed in honey with a hint of lemon) but the taste is exceptional and unique! These brussels sprouts were superior to the fries which is very very rare. Most of us got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich which gets a 3.5/5 from me but everyone else in my party gave it a 4. The spicy dijon sauce fails to amplify the taste of the sandwich and its on the pricier side (adding a side is $2 extra). I can say the chicken patty was very tasty and came on a brioche bun for the win! I went with a side of fries which were good though nothing special but what complimented my sandwich best were the brussels sprouts. We loved everything and we will definitely be coming back to explore the rest of the menu! The outside seating is superb and its actually a closed-off backyard instead of being the usual sidewalk seating that's so common nowadays. Best part of outdoor seating is the decent size TV they have that's perfect for sport lovers! We went on a quiet Sunday with few people at the bar and even less outside so it felt like we had the entire backyard to our party which made us enjoy out time even more. It's a quaint and promising bar with excellent service that I cannot recommend enough! .

Lynne P.

Yelp
We found this place on yelp, so we decided to check it out based on the reviews. Glad we did! The atmosphere is great , excellent service, the burgers were absolutely delicious! The people were so friendly and welcoming. A big shout out to our sever Al who is so kind, down to earth. Definitely would come here again the next time we're in Philly.

Geoff J.

Yelp
Best spot in the neighborhood IMO. A good mixture of Japanese and American whiskey's to settle up to along with arguably the best burger and wings in the city. A lot of attention to detail throughout the place and an ever evolving outdoor space that will soon be the spot to chill n hang. Love the variety of spelling bee, bingo, Quizo, live music, and even a burlesque dance or two. Overall a hard to beat spot to grab a drink, a bite to eat, listen to some music, and engage in singing me banter. A place that will call you by name when you happen to walk in.
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
Sutton's done it again. Kensington represents. Chicken sandy. Burger. MAd drinks. Great people. There was a spill but it was only water. They managed it while pleasuring us thoroughly
google avatar

Abraham K.

Yelp
Beautiful bar that has a pretty deep draft and can list and is super clean plus enjoyable. Food consists of normal bar snacks like fries, hummus platters, and fried things. Enjoyed the service and how many options were available for drinks. Great spot to visit after a hard climb next door; outdoor seating available too when the weather is nice.
google avatar

Abby K.

Yelp
At first glance, I was a little hesitant about the smaller menu, although sometimes fewer choices are better!! My partner and I split the wings, coconut shrimp, and we each had a burger with fries (yes, lots of food). The fries were crispy to perfection. The burger, ordered medium rare, was juicy and flavorful. Honestly, the best burger I've had in a LONG time. I had room enough for a wing (top notch) and will be saving the coconut shrimp for lunch. The owner (I think) came to check on us and showed us an awesome book of the reconstruction of the restaurant. Re: COVID precautions: the restaurant is small, but has the cutest back patio with a TV and heaters. Everyone is 6+ feet away from each other and servers/owners were masked up and cleaned the tables well between each customer. I am not in this neighborhood often, but next time I am back I will return to Sutton's.
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
Let me first say...They did a good job! Ordered the Coconut Shrimp, thGo-Chu-Jang wings and had the BYO Burger. Everything was delicious. Can't wait to go when the weather breaks to sit out on the deck. I went again - the menu had some updates options - soooo good. I'll be back again

Yelp
Made our second trip to Sutton's yesterday and a few months in they are still doing it right. The beer selection offered great options and is clearly thoughtfully put together. My wife, who doesn't drink beer, had plenty of options too...and wants to try the entire cocktail list.:) The food was not only awesome but really reasonable. The grilled Veggie sandwich came on homemade focaccia bread, which was perfect. We split the homemade tots and the watermelon salad which included fresh arugula, feta cheese, mango all in perfect quantities. Everything was right around the $10 mark. The place looks beautiful and you can just tell that the owners have put a great amount of thought into every aspect of the place; you really can't ask for too much more than that. We walked there from our house in Fishtown and it only took about 10 minutes, if we wanted a Lyft it would have only been $5.50. I'm going to stop being lazy and make the extra effort to get to Sutton's more often, it is clear that they are making the extra effort to make sure you have a wonderful experience.

Yelp
We stopped by on the way back from a Fringe Festival event at the Icebox Project Space in the Crane Arts building. What a find! Wonderful cocktail list, great on-tap list (especially for a space this size), well stocked bar, good and wonderfully prepared dinner selections. Quick summary -- We sat outside on the back patio (there are also on-street tables and indoor seating, but I recommend the quiet and industrial chic of the patio). Cocktails -- well balanced, interesting flavor combinations, well made. Coconut shrimp with three sauces. Crunchy chicken platter with a well-made salad as well as the Chicken Tingo Tortillas. I had the tingo, and they (three four-inch tortillas each with a massive mound of tingo, vegetables, etc.) were fantastic. Niall Murphy (owner) joined us for a bit as we finished. A fascinating person who knows how to run a great establishment. Good knowledge of the locale's history. Showed us a picture book he made of the complete rebuilding of the space -- an amazing transition from a shell to a beautiful neighborhood space. We'll be attending more events at the Maas Building and Sutton's is so well placed between Maas and the Temple Regional Rail station. We'll definitely be back!
