"This chic, casually run eatery offers ethically sourced, modern rustic cooking in a lively setting. It’s a place of two halves, with the Temple Up Top bar and roof terrace the ideal spot to get the cocktails flowing. Downstairs is the restaurant, which operates more as a café in the day with a few small plates and cakes from the counter. At dinner, a fixed-price menu is served with a selection of snacks to start, followed by a choice of main and dessert. The provenance of the ingredients is paramount, and dishes are fresh, vibrant and full of flavour." - Michelin Inspector

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the SV Lotus Temple in Fairfax, VA, and it turned out to be an absolutely unforgettable experience. Initially, from its name, we assumed it might be a Buddhist temple, but we were amazed and delighted to discover that it is a devout Srivaishnava Sri Venkateshwara temple! The main sanctum houses a magnificently large idol of Lord Venkateshwara, and just stepping inside fills you with a sense of devotion and awe. The Archana ceremony was beautifully detailed and strictly traditional, reflecting the temple’s deep commitment to authentic rituals. What really stood out to us was the warm hospitality of the priests, who are from Andhra Pradesh but speak all the major Indian languages fluently. Their devotion, knowledge, and friendliness made us feel truly welcome. One of the highlights of our visit was the prasadam meal prepared in the temple’s sacred Madapalli (kitchen)—the flavors and love with which it was served made it truly divine. The temple is currently expanding to include new facilities for events, cultural and religious education, and community gatherings. Overall, we left feeling blessed and inspired, and cherish the pleasant surprise of discovering this spiritual gem so close to home.

We had an excellent meal on the “dosa night” on Friday the 21st. we were told that next Friday will be “chat night” we are eagerly looking forward to it. Everyone should attend the special “dosa nights” and “chat nights” They will have an enjoyable meal and also make a contribution to the new building coming up for the temple.

We have visited this temple multiple times, and it never fails to impress. The deity of Lord Balaji is the most divine in the area, creating a truly calming and peaceful atmosphere. Photography is prohibited. So, you have to visit personally to experience it. The classical music performances held downstairs are incredibly soothing, adding to the temple’s serene ambiance. The food in the cafeteria is outstanding, offering a restaurant-style experience with delicious homemade sweets that are simply epic! Make sure to visit on any day especially weekends to enjoy a delightful treat while receiving powerful blessings and experiencing profound peace.

Very disappointed to write this review as I had great expectations before visiting this temple. The website pictures are very misleading and don't match the reality. The whole facility is a maze and we did not know how to enter the sanctorum. It is not ADA accessible even though there is an elevator and couple wheelchairs. The elevator does not go all the way to the sanctorum and my elderly MIL had to climb a flight of stairs. There was construction going on and everything was so dusty in the general pathway and elevator area. The only good thing about this temple is the Perumal(the Diety) . We attended the Bhoomi puja years ago and donated to the land only to visit after many years and see a temple at this state after all these years. Time for management to wake up.

The temple is very divine and the murti of Venkateswara Bhagavan is very divine as well. The temple has multiple smaller murtis of various deities around the inner sanctum of the temple. Construction work is still being performed, but the temple’s infrastructure is very good. The pujas performed by the priests are very traditional and per shastras. However, my only problem with this temple, and the main reason I do not visit it often, is the volunteers. In my opinion, they seem to be rude and disrespectful. A while back, during Goda Kalayanam, a volunteer lady angrily told my 13-year old son, who was sitting in the last row of the auditorium on the floor, to get up and leave by tapping very hardly on his shoulder. She told him he was blocking the door, which was ten feet behind him. He quietly left and stood at the very back of the room. But as soon as he left, the volunteer lady talked to a 20 year-old looking woman who spoke in Telegu and seated her where my son was sitting. My son, who was at this point standing, was then sent out of the auditorium by an another volunteer because “there was no space”. Despite this they were still admitting people into the auditorium. Finally, when I tried to enter the auditorium, they said the room had reached maximum occupancy, yet the volunteer up front continued to let entire families of 5-6 people inside the auditorium when they spoke Telegu to him. In my opinion, I feel this a larger trend among volunteers of SV Lotus temple to favor people speaking Telegu at the expense of others. I feel this type of discriminatory-seeming behavior is wrong and should not occur in a holy temple of Lord Venkateshwara. Are these volunteers working to serve God or to serve their own language communities? I felt very humiliated and hurt to be treated as a secondary group by the volunteers. Edit: It seems to me that moment I wrote this review, all the Telegu board members of the temple have scrambled to write fake 5 star reviews so they can hid my review. Notice that the haven’t taken any steps to refute or take down review. This, to me, proves that the board members discriminate against non-Telegus. For Telegu people reading this, this review is not meant to criticize your community, but the discrimination SOME, not all, Telegu board members and volunteers are committing. Please help in calling out these people. I hope more people become vocal about this.

The only reason I visit the temple is for Lord Venkateshwara and his divinity. The volunteers should really learn to respect and treat people equally. Temple is for everyone. It will be a pleasant and divine visit for all if they could learn this

Before entering to the temple parking, looking at the outer infrastructure it was a normal feeling. Walking across the circular corridor while entering was still undeveloped floors and rooftops. The stand for slippers and shoes was quite ok feeling but again it was all in front of the main entrance. The leg sanitise water taps are pretty good I would say. After I had entered into the inner garba, it’s a positive vibes, Peaceful and spiritual happiness when I visited inside premises. The cafeteria is below Floor which can be seen left after entering inside. The steps are steep and down. And you notice there are couple of rooms for special puja for Multi-purpose provision. One can easily find the way towards restrooms and cafeteria with organised signboards. The toilets are clean. Personally, I am not much satisfied with the food in cafeteria. I could able to order very few from the menu and terribly I am dissatisfied with the dosa order. I would say poor quality and taste. I wish it could change for my next visit. Overall, I don’t have other option of Venkateshwara Temple near by Manassas to Fairfax. So, I would recommend to visit for a bliss.

We came from NC to meet our cousin in Vienna and they suggested we visit this temple.. temple needs lots of work on the outside and are looking for donations.. The are so many Indians in the area and I think everyone needs to contribute to support the temple.. on the outside it looks like a small temple but below it has huge area & space.. the are many rooms and big hall for functions in the lower floor.. We had food in the cafeteria and I would say it was good & reasonably priced.. It’s always a good feeling to see lord Venkateshwara and get blessings…
