Trondheim, host city MICHELIN Nordic Countries 2020
"Set in a park on the former site of a Viking fort, this open‑air museum presents some sixty or so characteristic houses and farmsteads from the region dating from the 12th to the 19th century, including a school, workshops, a wooden church, and exhibits devoted to telephones and skiing, among others." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team
An enriching experience in a great location. The open-air museum is wonderfully organized, the old houses are filled with period furniture and accessories, allowing a rare glimpse into life "in the past."
From the top of the park there are wonderful views of the city and its surroundings.
Don't miss the souvenir shop on site, there are wonderful glass works, made locally.

Great open air museum, beautiful buildings full of history. Loved the town, and especially the apothecary and the apartment above it. The stavekirke was not as spectacular as others around Norway, but still worth a visit. Recommended.

Interesting collection and guided tours. Good value for money (kids and parking for free). Outside the 'old town' many buildings cannot be entered and sometimes it is hard to understand if you do not master Norwegian. All in all, this is a nice place for families, also tourists.

10/10. You get a second day for free which I used too and the guided tours were awesome. My favourite book series is The legend of the Ice people and this trip to the past will help me so much imagining all the aspects of the books while reading them. :)

This place had been sitting in my bookmarks for years, and finally I got to visit Norway for the first time and see it with my own eyes ✨
It’s a magical place where you can truly feel the beauty and history of Norway through everyday life, folklore, and creative people
Thank you for this magical experience and your priceless work 🖤
Tusen takk to Thea and the other girl whose name I forgot to ask - for letting travel through the centuries ✨🧌

One of our best cultural experiences in Norway! The place itself is amazing, what made it even better were the lovely tour guides. We want to shout out specifically André and Haakon, who very enthusiastically shared their knowledge about the old city and the castle and answered all of our curious questions. It was so cool seeing people who are as fond of history as them. If you guys see this, thanks for the notes in our travel diary! We loved them :D

I wanted to spend the whole day here. There's so much to see, the atmosphere is lovely, calm and cozy and the people are so kind. There's good cappucino in the cafe and toilets spread around the park. In June it's not busy at all. Great for people who are easily overstimulated and/or hsp's. I'd revisit when I'd be back in Trondheim.

Awesome view from the cliff, a look into life in Norway in the early 18th century, the telephone, dentist, posts, school, house of the richest person
