"This is one of the few Asian restaurants in Coronado, featuring a cheery interior resplendent with palm plants and a patio that offers great views for people-watching. Drunken noodles, red curry, and mixed vegetables are must-tries." - Helen I. Hwang

I am the Birthday Girl, pictured in black slacks/white shirt! I had Thai Iced Tea as my dessert! My companions had Swaddee Thai of Coronado specialties. I had my favorite, Mixed Seafood Drunken Noodles (pictured)! We paid our bill and stayed with their restaurant all to ourselves during their mid-afternoon closing (3pm-4:30pm). When they reopened, every seat was reserved for dinner! Apparently, they are a very popular place for dinner. I recommend 1 PM reservations and have the restaurant almost to yourself! The service is top-notch, so please tip accordingly! If you have a special occasion, choose this special place & you will not be disappointed! Kudos to the Swaddee owners and restaurant staff! Y'all ROCK!

Google
Authentic, amazing Thai food. Also good pricing and great atmosphere (sit outside if you can). For apps we ordered spring rolls and dumplings. For entrees: pad Thai, cashew chicken dish, and yellow chicken curry with coconut sauce. Everything was amazing, the sticky rice with extra peanut sauce is a must!!

Edited: I ordered tofu panang curry for take out today 7/19 they didn't add tofu just vegetables. When I went to talk to them, they kinda gave bad attitude. Giving second chance to this place isn't seem to be working. They remade my order in 3 minutes or so and gave extra rice and apologized. Why do you charge for rice with curry? All Thai restaurant I have been to give rice with curry. That's a rip off. If someone asks for extra rice that's understandable. But $3 for scoop of rice?

This has always been a favorite of my family’s for almost 30 years. The owners are lovely, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and I have yet to eat anything there that I did not like. The Pad Thai here is the one that I compare all other Pad Thai to. I haven’t found one I like better, including all of the Pad Thai I had when I go to Thailand. I highly recommend it as there is a good amount of sauce and the noodles are always the perfect consistency

Google
We took a little break from our bikes to enjoy a vegetarian lunch here on a beautiful Friday. We got Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Mixed Veggies (rice was extra $2.99 FYI) all with Tofu as the protein. Outside seating was nice and comfy. Served by the owner - what an honor, she was nice and knowledable. Fresh ingredients and tasty sauce. I especially liked the drunken noodles, I swear I could taste some tomato based sauce, which is disputed by the other family members. Nice restaurant overall.

We just finished eating at Swaddee's and absolutely loved the experience!! It's a Thursday and we got there around 6pm. Plenty of folks already seated indoor and outdoors eating dinner. We were immediately greeted and then after choosing a table outside, received a bottle of water to start. My husband is vegan and while their curries do have fish sauce (as expected) the a la carte menu has vegetarian options. Not but maybe 5 min later, our server greeted us and we were ready to order. I got red curry with chicken at a spice level 4/10. I requested no eggplant and staff kindly obliged offering a substitution vegetable instead even. My husband had vegan mixed veg w/tofu at spice level 6/10. We felt the spiciness to be on point with our requests! Rice is $2.99 to $3.25 extra, but we know this to be the case in some towns/restaurants. We completely loved our dishes and were extremely satisfied as it was all so delicious! Total was a little over $40 w/tax and worth it! Highly recommend!

The food at this restaurant was so tasty that my husband and I specifically made plans to come back here on our next trip to San Diego. Delicious, thank you!

Google
Swaddee is the BEST Thai food you will ever have! I have experienced many Thai restaurants and this one is by far most authentic with delicious sauces and flavors. In addition, they have fabulous attentive service ad a quaint ambiance. The drunken noodles are scrumptious ...among many many of their dishes!! Try the Som Tom salad! So unique....

Yelp
I came in at around 12-1pm on a Wednesday and the restaurant was clean and quiet--just the way I like it. The food was amazing, too! Best pad see iew i've ever had in forever! The plum wine was perfectly sweet and the sauce for the tofu appetizer was the perfect compliment to the tofu's crispiness. My waiter Poom was very kind and accommodating. Shout-out to him for showing me the brand they use for the plum wine! Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Swaddee Thai was an overall decent experience. The food was good but nothing special. Ordered the standard pad thai and pad see ew - lacked any punch in flavors. It was still an enjoyable meal, but I've had better Thai food elsewhere. Probably wouldn't come back. The service was mediocre. Slower outside service, but outdoors seating is nice for fresh air. No designated parking area - street parking.

Leslie G.

Yelp
Very clean, tables are pretty close to each other, but the place wasn't packed since it just opened when we arrived. Thai tea was really good. I like the ice they used. Pineapple fried rice was okay. Panang curry was good. Som tum was good as well. The downside is the plates they serve on are cold, so our food cooked down super quick. It wasn't bad. But there's better in my opinion.

Jeanette C.

Yelp
We absolutely adore this place! The food is consistently outstanding, and the friendly staff makes every visit a delight. Plus, the combo meals are such a great deal! It's always a wonderful experience dining here!

Alison M.

Yelp
Yum! So glad we stopped in here. Some of the most delicious Thai food I've had in ages. Tucked on a corner one street black back from the main shops on Orange Ave, this place is a gem. We were easily and quickly helped and service was friendly and exceptionally attentive and polite. They were pretty booked for a middle of the weeknight dinner but easily seated us at a small table for two. We ordered steamed pork dumplings to start and chicken Pad Thai for me and a duck dish for my husband with Asian broccoli. Everything was so good. Really good flavors. Food was out quickly and our server was a sweetheart. We'll def come back for dinner here when we're in town next! It's cozy inside but clean and classy.

Yelp
We have a picky toddler and wanted to have one good meal in for the day. Our toddler tends to like noodles/rice so we came here for lunch. Within a short walk from our hotel. We were the first patrons and sat inside. They have a high chair. The decor is a bit fancier than your regular Thai place with real placemats. Beef salad - Good portion and delicious. We always try to order a veggie dish. Pad See ew - Also good portion. Our toddler ate mostly this. There was a lot of toppings. Pad woon sen - This is my favorite Thai dish and not all places offer it. We get excited when we see this on the menu. Loved it. No toddler specific utensils- I asked for a plastic fork and was given these cute little metal forks. Unisex bathroom in the back. Indoor and outdoor seating

Yelp
Great find while walking from the ferry terminal in Coronado to the plaza beach area... Quaint little area with a lot of different shops and eateries. We worked up an appetite after walking from the Little Italy area to downtown San Diego and taking the ferry to Coronado. It's about a 10-12 block walk from the ferry drop off point. We tried the Pad See Ew with medium spice and the calamari salad. Both were tasty and satisfying. Washed it down with a nice Thai Ice Tea. Service was quick and efficient

Yelp
Date night? Hangout with friends? Family dinner? If you're craving Thai food and happen to be in Coronado, Swaddee is the perfect place to satisfy those cravings! My boyfriend and I walked in on a weekend night and were seated immediately. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for any occasion and made me feel like I was in Thailand. The food itself was great! We shared a chicken pad thai and tom yum pot. The pot was smaller than expected but they loaded it up with plenty of protein. I'm also very picky about my pad thai. Usually 50% of the thai places I go to they make the noodles too dry so that the noodles stick together but this was just perfect! These two items were perfect for us to share and we weren't super hungry either. The prices were also incredibly cheap given the location and that it was dinner time. I highly recommended coming to Swaddee Thai!

Yelp
We had dinner at Swaddee on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The food was Outstanding, for appetizers we had Fresh Summer Rolls & Dumplings. Our entrees were Green Curry, Drunken Noodles & Steamed Rice, simply Fabulous! The beer was cold and good. The service was Fantastic and very fast. We actually ate in Swaddee Too which is their banquet room. The ambiance provided for a quiet, relaxing atmosphere where conversation was a premium! This is one place we have put on our return list such that we returned on Saturday to watch the Navy/ND game! A perfect venue for watching a game and enjoying friends.

Ginna G.

Yelp
Best Tom yum soup! The broth was very delicious and just had the right tartness. Waitress was very friendly and meals were not expensive. I had a glass of resulting and that was amazing as well!

Genevieve R.

Yelp
Great food, good sized entrees and excellent service and ambiance. Parking can be an issue so be patient and give yourself time to park and walk there.

Carol F.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant; fast and excellent service. We had egg rolls and sweet & sour pork.

Craig L.

Yelp
Been many years since we last visited. Just recall the pad thai being the best in I ever had. Ordered pad Thai, panang curry, eggplant, duck w thai sauce, and tom yum soup. Pad Thai and duck were excellent! Service is great Nice cozy restaurant, almost every table taken. Will be back

Francesca V.

Yelp
Found this restaurant sort of spur of the moment - it had a small but cute/cozy outside seating, which is where I ate. Ordered the green curry with tofu, white rice, and pad se ew with tofu. The noodles were fantastic and the curry had great flavor, lots of vegetables too. The service at first (to order) was a bit slow but the food came out relatively quickly. I would come back here again!

Maria A.

Yelp
My best friend and I had the drunken noodles with chicken and beef salad and they were both delicious! The restaurant is charming and clean. Our waiter Poom was very nice and provided excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely go back next time we're in Coronado Island.

Lanette G.

Yelp
The best Thai food in miles! They always deliver the best Pad Thai. Ask for a level 5...perfect

Todd W.

Yelp
Great pad Thai, green curry and Tom ka chai coconut soup. We're regulars because the food and service is so good.

Justin B.

Yelp
Excellent beef salad and drunken noodles! Service was great. Location very convenient to main area downtown.

Andrea A.

Melanie Z.

Yelp
Party of 4. Thai Iced Tea was really good. Spring rolls were nice and light with good flavor. Chicken fried rice was good but mine definitely lacked chicken and had way too many peppers in it. The curry was just ok. It's a very small restaurant inside so seating can be tight.

Sam S.

Yelp
Nice little Thai restaurant in beautiful Coronado. Slightly off the beaten path Swaddee has amazing outdoor seating. The menu is fantastic and the food is flavorful. We had the Tom Kha soup with chicken, the cashew pork and the Pad Thai with Tofu. Everything was superb. For dessert we had the sticky rice with mango and that was a treat! Large portions and great service.

Mike G.

Yelp
This is a fantastic Thai restaurant. Ambiance was casual with a hint to elegance. Service was wonderful with a very attentive staff. I had the pad thai which was delicious. We also had mango sticky rice which was phenomenal. Definitely a go to restaurant in Coronado

Danielle R.

Yelp
Loved eating here. Cute , quaint restaurant with great food. I had chicken pad Thai and my boyfriend got the chicken curry. Will be back

Lydia L.

Yelp
Swaddee never fails! The food is served hot and the flavors are amazing. We ordered the Pad Thai and red curry with chicken. Nice big chunks of chicken and well rounded spices. The service was great because we had the owner serve us today. She is friendly and always has something fun to say. We also ordered the Tom Yum soup that was full of flavor and delicious ingredients. Couldn't leave the place without ordering their mango with sweet rice to go. Although, the flavor was great the portions of mango were small. The ambiance is culturally unique and inviting.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
We sat outside arrived late and the service was still so accommodating even though close to close. We ordered 2 yellow curry, the chicken satay and pad Thai everything was delicious all for about $65. Lights on the tables outside made such nice ambiance. Thank you servers for not rushing us and being so nice. Will be back.

Shirley C.

Yelp
Oh yes. Come here! Since we found this place we couldn't stop coming here every time we are in town. Everything is tasty and addictive. We have the Duck Lad Prik, Massaman Curry with shrimp, and drunken noodle. We literally finished everything.

Erin G.

Yelp
So, so good!! Amazing! We were craving Thai and I'm so glad we found it here in Coronado. I got the yellow curry with pineapple & Chicken and OMG, I only want my curry with pineapple from now on. Genius! My husband got the drunken noodles with shrimp and that was also amazing! But I must say, the curry was the star! We also got the fried springs rolls for an app, also delicious! We will definitely be back!!

Jennifer V.

Yelp
One of the best Thai restaurants around! We were wandering Coronado looking for a dinner spot and this came up. Asian cuisine is hard to come by in the Coronado area. We were a party of 4 with a dog with no reservation. The waitress seated us almost immediately.Definitely dog friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We ordered 4 different entrees from the menu and all of it was delicious! Large portions, good price! It really looked like too much to finish, but it was so tasty we finished everything! Next time I'll bring my mom. She loves Thai food.

Ashley H.

Yelp
Omg I don't even like curry but they have this yellow curry I lit crave all week until I go!! The pineapple in it seals the deal !! This is a house fav .. once a week isn't enough ! Best Thai tea also!! They have a pad Thai that has so much flavor , and never gets old. You won't be disappointed!! Fresh spring rolls is another house favorite everything there is good excited to try the fish service is fast nice and friendly ! The place is beautiful kinda fancy even!

Alicia M.

Yelp
Great service great food the currys excellent will come back Ambiance great loved it

Gabriel H.

Yelp
Last time I was there it was clean, great service and decor, food was traditional and made with care. Amazing ambiance.

Brittney B.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Flagstaff and will always be a regular patron. Thank you for the great service and food.

Tito D.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food. Got the curry with beef. Great service and delicious food. Parking is somewhat difficult but worth it

Brittany W.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I'm just here visiting from TX and I love trying new places because food is life. So my idea of excellent Thai food is from the best Thai food I've found in TX. I accidentally ordered the Yum Woonsen for takeout. It was my mistake because I was so hungry I glanced at a picture of the food and ordered thinking they called Pad Woonsen, Yum Woonsen here. So I open the container and take a bite and I'm like this isn't what I ordered but dang this is delicious! Best mixup in my life thus far. It was soooo yummy. Tonight I plan to go back and get my Pad Woonsen

Grace N.

Yelp
Tom Kar soup was good Tom Yum was below average Spicy fried was decent only if u asked for less oil Panang curry was mild and rich, but paired well with my spicy fried rice Nice and clean inside, my waiter was friendly and helpful I asked for less oil on rice and no bell peppers whatsoever, and the kitchen MADE it happen, so THANK YOU!

Rashmeen K.

Yelp
This place was great! We went for lunch during a weekday while on vacation. The place was cute and I enjoyed the outdoor seating. The only drawback from sitting outside was that the plates were dirty from the dust. It would be better if they placed the utensils and plates when the customer sits down as opposed to having the table already set. We order the Pad Thai and the red curry. The pad Thai was okay, it wasn't bad or the most amazing. But the red curry was so good!! It was not watered down and the curry was thick and creamy. Would def go back for the curry!!

Renee L.

Yelp
Food was not good. Not authentic Thai. Poor ingredients. Terrible quality. So disappointed!

Valerie A.

Yelp
I always have a good experience here. The food is delicious, don't hesitate to try this restaurant. They go light on the protein, but that's fine with me. They're good at accommodating any special requests such as nuts on the side. They have a lot of outdoor seating with heat lamps, and a pleasant interior. The vibe is tropical and comfortable. You don't need a reservation unless you're a larger group, but I if you'd like a booth I'd call ahead.

Victoria A.

Yelp
We stopped by for dinner while in Coronado and we're happy with our meal. We got the panang curry and cashew entree both with chicken. Both were flavorful and delicious with good portions. Glad we stopped by while in town!

Amy U.

Yelp
Delicious food, great menu, and beautiful atmosphere!!! One of the cleanest restaurants on the island. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a Coronado favorite!

Vanessa H.

Yelp
The food was fresh, delicious and flavorful. The food wasn't over sauced. The Pad Se-Ew was the best! Service was great and the food was served quickly.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
I was craving Thai food & Swaddee looked like a great candidate from all the positive Yelp reviews, so we walked over from The Del. It was a pretty quiet weekday lunch & most folks were getting take out. So, we basically enjoyed the main outdoor patio to ourselves. As I've mentioned in other reviews before, I judge a place by their tom yum soup because I think it's hard to get right. Sawaddee's version was perfect - piping hot, balanced. I also appreciate that there were plenty of fixin's - generous with tomato, mushroom and the big prawns. For my main, I went with their recommendation because I wanted to try something different. Our server kindly recommended an outstanding and unique dish: Hoa Mok (Scallops, Squid, Shrimp and Mussels; served in a banana leaf bowl, covered in a tasty curry coconut sauce). I figured if it's one of their house specialities, I couldn't go wrong! It seemed like a red curry base. There was a generous amount of seafood & good flavors overall. Service was also really great!

Julia S.

Yelp
Everything was so yummy, and tons of vegetarian options! The vegetables were still a bit crunchy, with a garlicky savory sauce and lots of fresh cilantro.

Corey B.

Yelp
The food is good, I've been here 5-6 times and always enjoyed it. The service isn't always the most hospitable. Sometimes I feel like being a customer is an annoyance to the servers. So, for good food quality I'd give it 4 stars. Noodles, curries, appetizers and soup are all great, in my opinion. The fact they charge extra for rice is annoying and surprising since I've never seen that at another Thai restaurant. I've never really noticed they do that until last night. That's like a Mexican restaurant charging extra for tortillas on a carne asada platter, it's just not cool. Especially because it feels sneaky when they ask if you want white or brown rice without mentioning it's an extra charge for either. The good news is, they don't charge extra for noodles when ordering noodles, so that's a relief. Coronado is an expensive town, I'm sure it's a function of their operating costs, I'd just rather they increased the entree price and include rice so I feel like I'm getting what I ordered without extra add ons being slipped in.

Yelp
This review is for you if you want an Asian POV. This place was OKAY. Went there last night with a group of friends. - Service: our waitress was kind. We were seated immediately on a Friday night. Overall it was a good service. -Ambience: Quite and clean for the most part. Inside seating is just very... tight. -Food: Typically for any Asian restaurant I am able to do family style with a group of friends. Essentially order lots of plates and we all share. The portions are quite small and pricey for how much they are. We ordered one of house special: Larb Pla. That was $49.99. It doesn't list the price on the menu because it's secretly (I believe) listed as "Market Value" instead. It doesn't tell you what kind of fish you're getting and we forgot to ask what kind. From personal experience and familiar with the culture. There was no way I believe the ONE fish is $49.99. It says it can feed more than three people is not correct. It's just a deep fried fish with toppings thrown on top. So beware. The one thing that threw us off was... THEY CHARGE FOR WATER!! We were charged $2.99 twice because we asked for more water. Insane to charge for water! Paying: I took out my credit card and they said they didn't accept it which is suspicious since they list on Yelp they do. So I had to pay with my debit card. Overall thought.. will I dine in again? No.

Andreas B.

Yelp
Found this gem when walking around Coronado, this place is cute with real life plants separated seating area, the service is awesome but the food is honestly ok! I've had better Thai food somewhere else, this is the only Thai restaurant in Coronado! Verdict: I will not comeback

Dani S.

Yelp
Super cute mom and pops restaurant in Coronado. Service is great! Came here for dinner one night, restaurant is currently only doing take-out order, no dine-in due to state-wide order. There are 2 tables out on the patio, so we ordered take-out and sat outside to eat. The staff were really nice, brought us extra utensils and a candle for lighting. Food came out really fast, and the flavor was delicious. Good portion size. Noodles were cooked well, very soft. Overall a great experience.

Lea F.

Yelp
Delicious larb duck! Everyone in the family loved this dish! We also had our favorite seafood tom yum soup and Thai shrimp fried rice which are equally tasty!

Ted C.

Yelp
Swaddee Thai Restaurant is perhaps the most authentic Thai restaurant in San Diego. I've eaten here numerous times and have been pleased with the food and service. One dish I had my eyes on, but shied away due to its perceived cost is the LarbPla Golden Fried Fish. We finally tried it and were extremely pleased that we did. It has an exquisite flavor, slightly sweet with lots of vegetables. The dish actually feeds two people, so the cost per person is comparable to what a couple would spend in any restaurant near Orange Avenue. It's totally worth it, and I would go back and order it again.
