The 38 Best Restaurants in Mumbai, India | Eater

"Swati Snacks popularized homestyle, vegetarian, Gujarati snacks in Mumbai. Minakshi Jhaveri’s tiny restaurant has served the who’s who of the city and several foreign celebrities. Look for restaurant favorite suva panki, a pancake made with rice flour, steamed between banana leaves and flavored with dill. The fada khichdi is a homely preparation of broken wheat and lentils, guaranteed to heal your stomach. Chug a glass of sugar cane juice along with your food." - Sumedh Natu

Tried Swati Snacks, for the first time and OMG the food was amazing! 😍 I had this new dish wrapped in banana leaves (forgot the name 😅) — it was super tasty! Also tried dahi puri and idli, both were delicious! 💕 Staff were friendly, service was quick, and the place was full with people waiting outside — totally worth it! 🙌✨

Our favorite Gujarati snack place for a reason. This branch is even better than the one in Tardeo because it’s more spacious and the food is as good as ever. The panki is always a must have but this time the mung dal chila stole the show. Service is fast and friendly. Only had to wait 15 minutes on a sunday evening at 7pm.

Escaped the heat into a spotless, air-con oasis that’s heaving with locals—nary a tourist in sight. Crunchy pani puri, feather-light banana-leaf-steamed rice crêpe panki, and an ice-cold mango lassi… every bite (and slurp) was pure joy! 😋

Heard a lot about this place but it’s only to be visited if you like Gujarati food - the food is majorly too sweet . The pav Bhaji is really good . And the filter Coffee icecream was the best

Nice place to try authentic traditional dishes. Loved the taste, food quality and staff behavior. Mumbai is best at making optimum utilization of available space . I wish they served varyari along with the bill. Being a Gujarati I find my meal incomplete without varyari in the end. Do visit again and I will surely visit again. Best wishes.

Discovered Swati Snacks in Mumbai on a friend’s recommendation, and it turned out to be one of the best food experiences I’ve had in the city. • Cuisine: Though it’s known as a Gujarati food joint, many dishes carry a North Indian touch in flavor—so it feels familiar yet unique. • Must-Try Dishes: Their kadhi is delicious, the ganne ka ras (sugarcane juice) is refreshing, and the steamed dish (panki/patrani panki) was light and flavorful. • Ambience & Service: Clean, lively, and efficient—food arrives quickly without losing quality. • Outlets: They have two locations in Mumbai, which makes it easier to access depending on where you are. • Overall: If you’re in Mumbai, Swati Snacks is an absolute must-visit. It’s simple, authentic, and honestly one of the best culinary stops in the city.
