Sweeney's on Boylston

We recently stopped in. The Guinness short rib sliders and fish & chips were both an absolute hit! All the food smelled amazing. The wait was not bad, and they were very busy. Staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.

The old Solas with the same decor and very similar menu. Still a really good fish and chips with curry sauce .

Love the food, authentic Irish cuisine. they definitely did their research creating the menu. Great ambiance and even better staff!! I am also gluten free and they had so many option available that are not just a salad.

Good atmosphere and good food. If you have the chance, try the humus wrap. It had the savory, sweet, and sour flavors all at once with a delicious crunch. Definitely a 5 star.

Had a great fun night at the pub, friendly staff, good service, lovely bowl of Chowder. We were not staying at the hotel but called in for one drink and ended up staying for four and food!

We had a wonderful holiday dinner at Sweeney’s! Excellent service, beautiful decorations and ambiance (we sat upstairs), and most importantly the food was delicious. Plenty of traditional pub staples, as well as hearty vegetarian options and a great selection of burgers/ sandwiches. Highly recommend!

I’ve been going to Solas for years and, when I heard they might be going under, I was glad to hear that it was turning into another bar/restaurant. I went to Sweeney’s tonight with a friend from out of town who was staying at the Lenox (the hotel where it’s located) and was super disappointed. They had “security” with headsets in the bar all night and near the end of it, even after we had fully paid, they wouldn’t let him bring a drink up to his room…in the hotel…where he was paying to stay. There was a “bouncer” at the top of the stairs who refused us. It was aggressive and strange. While I like a lot of the staff at the bar, I’ll hesitate to go back because of the treatment tonight.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. The staff is extremely racist. My wife is black, I am white, they literally came over to us and kicked us out to make room for rich white people. This place deserves to go out of business. Absolutely worst bartenders and service I’ve ever experienced in my life and I’ve been in the restaurant industry for 15 years.
