We came for brunch on a Wednesday, and the place got pretty busy. When we came, only two parties were seated, and when we left, the whole place was full. I don't think they were expecting a crowd because the two servers seemed overwhelmed. The food came as they were made, but waited for mine longer. I had the Under the Sea Omelet ($30). It was pricey and only came with two shrimp, but it had chunks of real crab meat. We also ordered the Chocco Banana Pancake (pointed it out on the menu), but were given the Butter Milk Pancake. Informed the server and was charged $3 for some bananas. Had we known that, we would've just kept the buttermilk pancakes. Despite the pricey food, it was delicious, and the portions were big.

The outside seating was super nice, however the inside seating area smells kind of odd but i think its because its an old house. The food presentation was great I ordered the omelette with the bacon jam but it wasn’t that good and the tomato pieces inside were way too big. my husband ordered the fried chicken eggs benedict and those were pretty good! orange juice is $7! for very small cup.

Google
The service was prompt and pleasant. The food was excellent. We had waffles with bacon and eggs. The waffles were wonderfully prepared and the bacon was fantastic. We also had iced tea and an espresso martini. The tea was delicious and the martini didn’t skimp on the vodka. Cannot wait to come back!

Cute little place with super yummy menu. Our waitress was very sweet amd the owner was checking in on everyone. Staff and service were top notch. Food was awesome tried the Curry Poutine which was delish. Also had the Butter milk pancakes with fruit, and Vanilla lattes. My mother and i enjoyed everything and loved sitting on the patio in the nice weather. Highly reccomend!

Google
A must-visit breakfast/brunch spot! Situated in a cozy spot in the Nob Hill neighborhood, Sweet Bacon Cafe offers a contemporary spin on your typical breakfast food. The menu is diverse and the food is flavorful. The fresh fruit topping is a wonderful addition to the waffle and French toast dishes. Our favorite was the Berries Lover Toast; the creamy mascarpone and crunchy corn flakes were a delightful twist to this breakfast staple. The staff are attentive and definitely hustle!

Google
great breakfast spot, just realized they serve dinner too so we’ll come back to check it out. Super friendly and expedient service, tasty boozy cocktails, and the food was on point as well. Nice patio (we sat outside) and a busy/bustling interior dining room. We didn’t have to wait more than 5 mins on a late Saturday morning, bonus!

Google
I can't stress enough how good this restaurant is. The food tastes fresh and unique. Any two meals can taste wildly different yet equally delicious. On my last visit, I had the Crispy Chicken Benedict, which was out of this world. The breading on the chicken was crunch but not hard. The chicken itself was tender with plenty of flavor. The spicy hollandaise was exciting and different but still gave you the memorable flavors of typical hollandaise. This is by far the best food I've ever had, I would order this on Death Row if that gives whoever is reading this insight into my love for this restaurant. If you're ever in the area, please try Sweet Bacon Cafe.

Google
Amazing fusion of Thai and American breakfasts. Yakuza Katsu Curry (get it spicy) was a flavor experience well worth it. Very casual setting with clean interiors and nice are on display and for sale. A full bar for all your breakfast indulgences. Occasional live music during special events. Gets busy late morning on Sunday so don’t delay!

Yelp
A very homey establishment! The service was great, they treated me like I was a regular or a family member! Food was great and filling, I loved the Asian influences in their dishes. The chick pops had the perfect balance of sweetness from the maple syrup and savoriness from the fried chicken bites with the spicy mayo on the side. Their specialty bacon was crisp and very unique, I thought the fried shallots and cilantro would be offset the flavor but the sweetness from the caramelized sugar and tamarind helped balance and combine the bacon flavor well. The benedict was a classic but done well. Eggs were cooked perfectly and we loved the English muffin they used. The berries lover toast was a bit sweet for me but the mixed berry mascarpone was so delicious! The cornflakes added a nice change of textures to this dish.

Yelp
Everyone has off days and perhaps we came on one for Sweet Bacon Cafe. Timing in the kitchen for food was really, really bad. Tables receiving food out of order from when they were placed, tables receiving only half of their entrées, then waiting another 10-15 minutes for the rest to arrive. In our case, we waited 50 minutes for overcooked poached eggs. Normally I would have sent it back, but after waiting for that long I just wanted to eat and get out of there. My main issue is that the waitstaff on 6/1/2024 had zero damage control skills. There was no communication to the tables on wait times or letting us know what's going on in the kitchen. We had our order taken and then were left to wait. Our waters were refilled by possibly the owner? but I had to ask for more coffee and we were never checked on after we got our food. Pros: -food is tasty Cons: -long wait times for food -lack of attentiveness and communication from staff -items were poorly executed

Yelp
Their potatoes are by far one of the best crispy potatoes I have ever had in Portland. The Rose City Benedict is a definitely must order even though it looks like a basic breakfast. You can rarely taste the wasabi but it has a good enough amount where it compliments the hollandaise drizzled over the egg. As for the chicken and waffles, chicken was perfectly cooked and moist. Great amount of food for two people!

Yelp
Stopped in for a Sunday brunch and had a lovely experience. The space is in an older house in NW...and is owned by a family who came up from the Bay Area and originally Thailand. We had a chance to chat with one of the women who owns the place and she was exceptionally friendly...the service and staff were A+. And the food is good as well...I had the Pancake meal that came with three cakes, two eggs and bacon. All were good -- but the bacon was super super crispy....not how I generally prefer my bacon but that is just personal preference. My wife had the spicy chicken and rice...it was also very tasty...and very spicy! Overall I would definitely stop here again!

Yelp
Amazing place for brunch. Came on a Sunday around 11 and they were pretty busy but luckily we only had to wait for 20 min for a table for two. After being seated, it did take another 30 min for us to receive our food but the wait was well worth it. Candied house bacon - 3/5 . To us the bacon was overcooked and too rough, as we struggled to chew it. The taste was great though, although we wished it was a little sweeter. Chicken and waffles - 5/5 . Definitely the star of the show. The chicken was so well cooked, super tender and juicy and the breading was really crispy. It's definitely a lot different than other fried chicken that we've tried before - it had a thicker breading, but it was still cooked so well it was very crispy. Side of pancakes - 5/5 . Great pancakes, and for the price, it's a must get. Berry lover French toast - 4/5 . This tasted so good with the super fresh fruits and I really enjoyed the Frosted Flakes cereal on top, as well as the mascarpone. The only thing was it was much too sweet for my taste, it was a little overwhelming. It was still really good, just a little too over the top sweet for us. Parking was pretty easy to find on the street, and there was some outdoor seating on the porch where we saw some people and their dogs which was nice. Inside it was pretty loud from everyone chatting, so sometimes it was hard to hear one another. The service was solid, nothing to complain about besides the slightly long wait but that's to be expected with a new and popular brunch place on the weekends. Definitely recommend trying this place out, especially for the fried chicken and waffles!

Yelp
What a wonderful Father's Day Brunch! The service we received was phenomenal and everyone working seems so happy to be here. The food was delicious and very filling! Hubby could eat this chicken katsu for another meal, as he was stuffed approaching the half way point. We'll plan to be back!

Yelp
From the moment you walk up to the building. This place has class, style, comfort and smells great. My cousin and I visited in a Thursday morning. There were only a few people. So service was immediate. The menu had a unique combination of breakfast and lunch items. Also a nice cocktail menu. And of course you have to try the specialty house bacon. I could imagine this place gets busy on a Friday or weekend. I will defiantly be coming again.

Maria E.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Service was good. Although the space was small and it was busy, the food was AMAZING. The chicken is just right. Pancakes were so good that you don't even need the syrup. Will definitely recommend this to everyone and will be back soon.

Yelp
In terms of food, I will rate this place 3 stars. I had high expectation since this was recommended by my friend. Just like the name of this place, the food was a bit too sweet to my liking. It is based on personal preference. I was disappointed on the chicken pops, I was hoping the waffle was more crispy. My friend got the lemon pancakes and it was actually pretty good! Egg Benedict was mid. The Vietnamese cofffee also light and had too much milk. Otherwise the service and ambiance here was great!

Yelp
Soft opening currently. I'm super excited about this fusion brunch restaurant. Grand opening is happening on 12/9/23. I ordered the chicken & waffle, and the portion was very generous and prepared to perfection. I have a feeling there will be lines or the door just like other brunch places around Portland. So, get yourself into this place before you have to wait in line.

Yelp
Grand Opening and 8:00. Clean, bright and comfortable interior. I was promptly greeted by friendly front of house staff and quickly seated. I ordered the House Sweet Bacon and the Rose City Benedict with black coffee. The coffee was very nice, great flavor and a smooth finish. The bacon came out next (I had one piece and the 2 other pieces to go), it was beautifully presented in a stemmed glass. The bacon was indeed sweet, but not overly so. The flavor was complex and quite savory. I'm going to go ahead and say it's better than the other guys. The Benedict came out next - picture perfect presentation! And the cook and flavors matched gloriously. The generous portions of broken Yukon potatoes had a golden exterior and a creamy interior. Simply but outstanding. The Benedict was a perfect balance of flavors in my mouth. The eggs were poached to perfection with set whites and a luxurious runny golden center. The wasabi hollandaise sauce skillfully matched with the smoked salmon - it more than met my expectations. Every bite was well balanced and just the right amounts of each ingredient. Well done on every level! A great addition to the Portland brunch scene! If there is one very minor nit - I would've liked. To see a sharper or serrated knife to cut through the English muffin. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
What a treat! I couldn't decide what to pick from their menu because of how many good options there are. I was pleasantly surprised to see some vegetarian options as well, though I went for the bacon! I had the SBC omelette with bacon jam on top and it was not too sweet, just right. I really liked how tender and crispy the potatoes were too. Quality of service was excellent, and they kept my water glass full. Really made the extra effort to make everyone feel comfortable at home. So friendly! The atmosphere was casual, yet a really lovely and felt right at home. The paintings on the wall were especially beautiful. It looked like everyone was pleased with what they ordered, and smiles all around. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the waffles!

Yelp
Eating here is a treat! Service was spot on and their spin in breakfast had an interesting Asian flare. My friend had a very good fried chicken dish that was filling and tasty. My Salmon Benedict was lighter and the slight hint of wasabi was interesting. Fluffy and crisp potatoes were as good as they get!
google avatar

Brandon R.

Yelp
Had the Chicken Benedict, and oh my DOG was it good! The eggs were poached perfectly, the chicken was juicy and perfectly crisp, and the house potatoes... It was a busy Saturday brunchtime, but they still managed to get the food out with great timing. Could tell they were busy, but they were ON IT!
google avatar

Liam W.

Yelp
Sorry to say this wasn't a hit for me. Really nice service but the food was not correctly cooked, seasoned, or presented. Pretty clean inside, some nice decor and paintings, but the meal was not great. I would be unlikely to return.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe and unique spot for amazing breakfast. I've never been to a brunch place like this, and I'll be comparing everything else to this! I ordered the Chicken Curry Katsu and it was delicious. My friend got the spicy basil chicken and loved it! We also ordered lavender lattes that were perfectly sweet but not too floral. Servers were kind and attentive. Wish I lived closer so I could come back more often!

Helen G.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast about 9:15. Had bacon & eggs with potatoes and ciabatta toast. Good portions. Roasted potatoes were wonderful. Liked have a choice of ciabatta. Service was great. Would definitely stop in again. They are right on the streetcar line too.
google avatar

Danika H.

Yelp
Great food! The chicken and waffles were amazing and freshly made. Attentive service from staff.
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
Quite expensive for brunch but you could easily share one dish between two people. The sweetest owner! And they gave us a yogurt parfait as a birthday treat. There were two sections in the restaurant so we could choose between somewhere quieter or somewhere more happening, which was cool.
google avatar

Yelp
A solid addition to the Northwest Portland brunch scene! We've been twice now and the brunch food is great, especially the Benedicts. The Thai tea cocktail, however, was almost undrinkable, and our servers was fairly inattentive (we had to fetch our own silverware and napkins.) Overall, Sweet Bacon Cafe is a reliable and reasonably-priced brunch spot, but there are definitely a few wrinkles to iron out as they get up and running.
google avatar

Mel N.

Yelp
We are so grateful for this lovely cafe! Perfectly nestled in the quieter end of NW, Sweet Bacon Cafe has taken brunch by storm. Whether you're looking for something new or brunch favorites, this is the place. Portland has been in need of something new. The owners greeted us immediately, made recommendations on the menu, and checked in with us frequently! The signature side of Sweet Bacon is an absolute MUST--perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. I don't even like cilantro, but when used correctly, it doesn't overpower any of the food.

Yelp
First time at Sweet Bacon. I wanted this to fill the poutine shaped hole in my heart. In theory the dish has great components. The execution was lacking for me, the ratios were off. The flavor of the curry gravy was great however just a bit too salty. Although it was kind of balanced out by the thicc wedges. The wedges were undercooked. The egg was over cooked and smashed to the top of my to-go container. A perfectly cooked runny egg, enough gravy for the amount of wedges, a few tweaks and this might be a hit.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Tried this new business that just opened three weeks ago because it was recommended to us by our Airbnb host. Only reason we are giving this a 4/5 star review is the service was a little slow and the food was good but not amazing. Solid pancakes and French toast. Too much chicken to waffle ratio. Good location near 23rd.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Nice aesthetic and attentive service. The Asian (Thai?) fusion breakfast offers your classic brunch dishes, with a few dishes and drinks offering Japanese, Hawaiian, and Thai flair. Reminds me of having a well-executed American brunch in Asia. I have a good feeling about their cafe offerings. It's one of the few places I've ever seen a dirty chai (chai with expresso) on the menu, and I was granted my special request for a hot Thai Tea. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked. House sweet bacon was delicious. My friend enjoyed her chick pops (fried chicken bites and waffles bites)

Yelp
Had the chicken and waffles and avocado toast they were both amazing ! And the service was impecable!
google avatar

Ragnar H.

Yelp
Amazing bacon jam! And the other stuff is good too, in addition to having a rare creative flair to it.
google avatar

Scarlett V.

Yelp
Really tasty food, huge portions, wonderful staff. We had the chicken katsu (gravy was very flavorful, chicken nicely fried) and the avocado and salmon toast. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Popped in for a nibble with no expectations. Sat at the bar, Gaby the bartender was great. Even though she was super busy she made sure to keep me company. Food was great! I'll be back, soon and often.
google avatar

Brittany R.

Yelp
Delicious food amazing service and great drinks!! So friendly love them. The owner is so attentive and the bacon is unlike any other. I got the hangover which was to die for and the chicken and waffles was my favorite I've ever had!

Deborah U.

Yelp
This place was very disappointing. I've never had such bland, tasteless food. The money spent here was a very big waste. I won't ever return here. For $127 for 4 people. Very nasty. Spending money there was absolutely sad. Like I have no words. If I could give it a -1000 I would.
google avatar

Dominic R.

Yelp
This new spot for brunch brings forth an eclectic menu consisting of incredible brunch and breakfast items not normally seen at standard brunch locations! I had the chicken curry katsu and it did not disappoint. The chicken was fried with a great blend that was fluffy and crunchy without being too much of one. The service was also a high point. Will be back against soon.
google avatar

Charlie K.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast today. The space was beautiful. My vegetarian said it was the best avocado toast she'd ever had, and she's had hundreds. The sweet bacon was delicious, almost as good as the fried chicken Eggs Benedict. We will be back!

Sophia V.

Yelp
This place opened up recently and we were excited to try it! The food was incredibly, service was great, and staff were super friendly. We can't wait to be back!

Noah Z.

Yelp
Great location and nice decor. Laid back and chill cafe/diner vibes. Service was nice -- no complaints on that end. WHAT I WOULD COME BACK FOR. My gf got the lemon crème anglaise pancakes ($18)! So soft and delicious. The lemony sauce was tangy, sweet, and craveable. Yummy on all accounts. Ordered the Chicken Katsu with Curry ($21). It's not a typical katsu breading, but the crust was super crunchy, golden brown, and delicious. The thin meat inside was tender. Served with rice and potatoes, the starch levels were a bit over the top. The small potatoes were mid and the curry covering the dish was mid as well. The caramel macchiato ($7) for a small mug. Mid, go next door to Anna Bananas for a better cup of caffeine.

Lauren N.

Yelp
So yummmy!! Excellent customer service, Jane the owner was awesome, and totally worth the wait Sunday morning. We got the Chicken & Waffles and the Chicken Katsu. Perfectly crispy chicken with subtle asian twists. Loved it! Not too sweet. Heads up big portions. YUM we will be coming back! Thank you Jane & Sweet Bacon Cafe Team!

Andre G.

Yelp
Came here on a whim! Great food, attentive service! Adding this place to my list of regular spots and hope they get the visibility needed to stick around.

Elena G.

Yelp
This place is so cute!! Super good food and amazing staff. We met the owner and she seems super excited to welcome people in! I highly recommend:)

Yelp
first time in portland and so glad we found this place as our first stop. the staff is so friendly & the vibe inside is cozy. the food was amazing especially the sweet house bacon!! definitely recommend

Lisa T.

Yelp
Atmosphere and service were great but thefood was meh. Had a ton of potential! Signature bacon tasted good but was overcooked and served room temperature. My husband and I had two different Benedict breakfasts. The flavors were great but the English muffins were served cold and not toasted. Untoasted English muffins are pretty gross. We may try again when they've been open liberty.

Yelp
This is an outstanding new breakfast spot in the Alphabet District of NW Portland. It's located in an adorable little house in a cozy neighborhood. The food is incredible. We enjoyed the Crispy Chicken Eggs Benedict, the Chicken Katsu Curry with rice and the house made sweet bacon. Everything is super delicious and fresh! The Yukon potatoes are so good and perfectly crispy. The hollandaise sauce of the chicken Benedict is spectacular. This dish also includes very high quality red peppers. The Chicken Katsu Curry is also really tasty. I loved the flavor of the chicken, gravy, and rice. The House made bacon is so delicious. It is thick with just the right amount of chewiness. The staff is incredibly friendly, Jane who I believe was the owner was super nice. Our Server Julia was also very friendly. There are so many great choices at this great breakfast spot. I definitely recommend this as one of the best new breakfast places in Portland.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I had no idea what to expect and this food blew me away. Very sweet and attentive staff. We sat on a cute outdoor porch near heaters and it was perfect. The French toast was not too sweet and had a nice crunch of cereal on top to my surprise. I am excited to go back.

Larry R.

Yelp
I added a photo of the menu with the updated prices. I had the French toast today, it was ok.

Christina X.

Yelp
I rarely leave a review and I know this place is new but it was wildly disappointing. First the prices for the food you get is outrageous, even for Portland restaurants. Of the 5 people that we were with, only one person thought their dish was okay. Some were undercooked and inedible and others got food they didn't order. One person ordered a salmon avocado toast with capers and other ingredients and were brought an avocado toast with mozzarella cheese and strawberries. When asked, they simply said they were out of salmon. They didn't let us know before placing the order or that they were substituting almost everything on the meal. They set down a meal that wasn't ours on our table and walked away. When we let them know that we didn't order the dish, they took it and walked it to another table. The server was very friendly but it could not make up for the poor quality food and experience. They said they were still working on getting a liquor license so it sounds like they may have opened before they were truly ready.

Jenny G.

Yelp
Wonderful service and overall vibe!! We ordered the smoked salmon avocado toast and the Hangover (spice level medium). Both delicious dishes! You can feel the care they take in making their food. Love an Asian fusion brunch! Happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Caselle R.

Yelp
Amazinggggg. The chicken in the chick pops are an Asian style of fried chicken, which was such a nice change from the regular style fried chicken. My only critique is to be asked if I wanted whipped cream in my Thai tea.

Lisa Z.

Yelp
I found a wonderful new breakfast/lunch restaurant in NW Portland. They have a creative twist on their dishes with lots of different choices. The food was very tasty with wonderful owners and staff. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back again!

Travis D.

Yelp
Super happy to have stumbled upon this great new brunch place on NW 21st. The portion sizes were great and the food was fantastic. The crispy chicken Benedict was the star of the show and is a must try! It's fried in a tempura batter making it light and full of flavor. Will definitely be adding sweet bacon cafe to my list of go to brunch spots in Portland.

Caroline F.

Yelp
Walked by this place and the name intrigued me. Had to try the Hangover and wasn't disappointed! A chaotic mix of yum! Staff was attentive and pleasant. Will be back as I think I'll get a craving for this again soon!

karen g.

Yelp
I cannot say enough GREAT things about this fabulous spot (in the old Paley's Place)! The food is amazing, the ambiance delightful and the service second to none. It was very busy when we arrived but we got a table immediately. The food came out fresh, hot and fast after ordering. The wait staff were super friendly and prompt and the owner was there working the dining area too. She is a wonderful woman who clearly takes pride in her new "baby." Just a delicious experience from start to finish. Definitely going on our Portland "favorites" list. We will be regulars!

Christine T.

Yelp
Was driving around the hood on a rainy morning thinking I really would love to find a great little breakfast joint. And I've found it!! They took over the old Paley's Place and totally renovated it! It's light and bright with gorgeous art on the walls! Had the smoked salmon Benedict with wasabi hollandaise!! And of course a side of pancakes! They did not disappoint! Portions are HUGE! They are doing a soft opening all week and go live this weekend.
