Google
Stopped in for a quick lunch. Got a table fast, tried the pad woon sen as I always like to try something new. Delicious light and a good deal for their lunch special.

Google
A cozy place with great staff and the food was pretty good! You get to choose your spice level from 1-10 and it was pretty legit!

Daniel Starnes

Google
Sweet Basil Thai is hands down one of the best spots for Thai food in the area. The lunch specials are a standout, offering generous portions at great prices, and the complimentary soup is such a nice touch to start the meal. The flavors are consistently fresh and vibrant, with a perfect balance of spices in every dish. The service is always friendly and efficient, making it a great place to drop by during a busy day. Whether you’re a fan of classic dishes like Pad Thai or crave something a bit more adventurous, Sweet Basil Thai never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Thai cuisine!

Google
The food and service are always great. It's fantastic having a nice Thai restaurant so close to home.

Google
Met a friend here based on her recommendation and had a yummy lunch. The Pad Woon Sen with tofu was delicious. Would've liked the carrot to be cooked a tad longer but everything was really good. Our server, Suzi, did a great job and was super friendly. Wish it was closer to my house!

Google
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Edamame, then white tuna, which was fresh and extremely tasty! Then Wildcat Roll, best roll in my dining career! The chef was nice enough to 'slip' me a pair of eel nigiri, yum! Highly recommended

Google
Great appetizers and Thai noodles; sushi is medium good. Sauces are all excellent! Our waitress was amazing and brought us extra comments including smokey pepper flakes because we ordered our dish less spicy to share with a child. Good drink selection and good prices.

Yelp
I will preface this by saying that I get take out from this place for lunch on about a weekly basis, but have not yet dined in. I have tried about half a dozen menu items, mainly noodle, rice and stir fry dishes. I have several favorites and will continue to explore other options. That said, I'm a big fan. The food is absolutely top notch -- fresh, hot and delicious. The staff are always friendly and the prices are reasonable for the quality. I plan to keep coming back regularly.

Yelp
Very impressive. We arrived early was let in kindly with water while things were getting ready for the dinner crowd. We ordered Spring Rolls, Chicken Coconut Soup and Massaman Curry. Everything was excellent. So so good. One thing to add the whole place seemed very clean. The bathroom was spotless. I think that says a lot about a restaurant. Give them a try. It's better now than it ever was before. Very impressive.

Yelp
My first visit here will not be my last! It is tucked away with easy parking and friendly service. I had Pad Kee Mao (drunken Noodles) with chicken and our server was helpful as we all decided what spice level to order. My meal was delicious and I loved the presentation. It wasn't too crowded at dinner time and next time I'm visiting family in NKY I'll recommend we all go again!

Yelp
We went to this place for dinner with our work team on a weeknight. The food was good, I got red curry with tofu and veggies. This one of the good red curries I've eaten in a while. My team mates got a boat of sushi and they seemed to enjoy it. Service was helpful. Our server made recommendations for the size of sushi boat and the spice level we should get. I really appreciate it when servers take interest in the guest's dining experience and make recommendations. The place was decorated like a normal Thai restaurant. Parking was plenty outside of the restaurant. Good place all in all. I'll go again.

Yelp
I was expecting for the food to be awesome but was totally wrong. I ordered the panang chicken curry and it was terrible. The chicken they used was absolutely disgusting. You can tell they buy an extremely cheap low quality product in bulk in order to profit them selves even more. The chicken was extremely rubbery and had a god awful taste to it. It's ashamed that a place like this will choose to buy a low quality meat product just to make a few more dollars.

Yelp
Ordered Thai vegetablefried rice to go. It was delicious And the experience was efficient. I called them on the phone and explained what I was looking for. I got exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely be back and look forward to the next experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a rainy day and I ordered the miso soup to warm me up. I also got the veggie Pad Thai and my wallet and I were very happy They have a big lunch menu and dinner menu and their sushi selections are vast. You can watch them make your sushi. I will definitely be back and try something new

Yelp
Arrived at 2:14 and was denied seating because "we close at 2:30". How about you close at 2 then and save ppl trouble?
google avatar

Angelie C.

Yelp
We stopped in here one night after flying back from vacation. They were close to closing to I know that sucks for them but we were so grateful they seated us anyway. It's been a long, tiring flight and we were super hungry. There were four of us in our party. Our server was amazing and funny! The food was absolutely fantastic. Everyone in my party thought it was great. We ate quickly so they could shut down. No one complained or was rude. As a matter of fact, it was just the opposite. Thank you for your generosity and a delicious meal!

Yelp
Very courteous staff, fast getting food, and it was delicious. We got Pad Thai, broccoli fried rice w chicken and best eel and rainbow sushi Nice place family friendly and cozy seating. Returned recently and was not disappointed still tasty. Chicken w Thai Basil Sauce, tuna nigiri, scallop Nigiri and kra pow gai

Yelp
Been a long time customer of Sweet Basil starting out out their original location across the street. They always have consistent fresh delicious sushi. Paired with an ice cold Saparo makes the perfect dining experience. If your wanting better than the average sushi in Cincinnati, Sweet Basil is a place to try.
google avatar

Yelp
Had to check out the standard Chicken Pad Thai on a recent visit and glad to say it was top notch. Came in with a group of six on a Sunday afternoon and we were promptly seated at a spacious centrally located table. Our server was congenial, attentive, and timely. Their includes the standard Thai fare as well as a sushi bar and an assortment of cocktails, wine, and beer. Definitely would return if I'm in Northern Kentucky.

Yelp
We frequent this restaurant so we know the food is always beautifully presented and delicious, but tonight we were extremely pleased with our waiter, Max. He was fun, knowledgeable, and accommodating while being patient and affable. Thanks, Max you made my birthday dinner with my family even more enjoyable!

N R.

Yelp
After a horrid experience at Miyako Steakhouse across the street (please see my other review) we left and came to Sweet Basil Thai. We were seated immediately and had a wonderful date night dinner allowing us to forget about the other place. The salmon Roll appetizer was excellent, and our Pad Thai was tasty. Thanks for taking an almost ruined evening and turning it around for us. If you are out for dinner in Crescent Springs please stay clear of Miyakos Steakhouse and give your business to Sweet Basil. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Very courteous staff, fast getting food, and it was delicious. We got Pad Thai, broccoli fried rice w chicken and best eel and rainbow sushi Nice place family friendly and cozy seating.

Yelp
Really disappointing experience! The Pad Thai we ordered was good but the red curry was watery and flavorless, and two of our soups were also REALLY lacking in flavor which is an odd thing to write about Thai food. -- This was the first time we had to ask for salt and pepper in a Thai restaurant. We also ordered our dishes spicy (7 out of 10) but they weren't spicy at all. The Jalapeños in the one dish were also not fresh (like one would expect in an authentic Thai dish) but canned. And the peas and beans in our soup and curry were also not fresh but previously frozen. We were so excited to go out for Thai food and we all really wanted to like the food -- but this was honestly the most disappointing meal I had in a years. Maybe this is a better place to go to for Shushi but we will not be back.

Mike F.

Yelp
We eat there several times a year. Entrees are always great, lots of options and never disappointed - servers are friendly and helpful with suggestions. Sushi rolls are delicious. Great location.

Milton W.

Yelp
The food and service were very good. The ambiance also was very nice for a date or just enjoying the environment. I'll be back again

Yelp
Best Thai spot in the whole state of Ohio (in my opinion). I'm a little annoyed that I didn't get a photo but I'll be sure to get one next time. Our server was super friendly and the establishment in general was clean and looked really nice as well. We got the yellow curry with tofu, amazing. So creamy, full of flavor, and also a great vegan option. We also got the cashew nut entree which was SO good. They perfected the tofu which was important to me because I don't like tofu to be too soft in those kinds of meals. The price was right and I will definitely be coming back :)
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
He another great meal at Sweet Basil. We had the Pad Thai with veggies and Cashew Tofu. Great flavor and good service too. We shared the spring roll as an appetizer. Nice me hot and tasty.

Yelp
It's been a long long time since i've gone to a restaurant where every factor deserves 5 stars but this place was incredible. The food (edamame, ginger salad, basil thai fried rice, and ginger garlic chicken and broccoli) was absolutely delicious and perfectly sized portions. Our waitress was so sweet and smiley, and it's happy hour everyday from 3-6, not just the weekdays like most places. So, our miller lites we're literally $1.99. You can't beat it, will absolutely recommend this place to everyone and anyone!
google avatar

Lori W.

Yelp
My favorite food is Thai food and this is the first time I have left a Thai restaurant where the food was flavorless. On top of that. I got a spice level of 7 out of 10 and it was still one of the most boring meals I've ever had. My boyfriend had drunken noodles that was basically noodle mush. The staff acted like we didn't exist when we needed anything. I also had to ask for salt for my curry, but there was no saving that chicken broth that is deceptively named red curry. Will not be back. It was a waste of money.
google avatar

Janice W.

Yelp
We ordered the crab puffs as an appetizer and waited quite a while for them and when they finally arrived, they were cold. We didn't send them back but should have. Our meals were okay but nothing special. Would probably not visit this restaurant again.

Yelp
DISGUSTING. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! i mean the food wasn't made with love.. paying $20+ for a plate that's not made with love is ridiculous if you ask me. id give them negative stars if i could. no flavor whatsoever, the smell was good but the food was NOT EDIBLE. i ordered massamun curry, I've never had a curry with pineapples in it for one. for two taste so bland. i don't believe this food is authentic, whatever those people are doing in the kitchen AINT IT!! would never recommend to anyone.
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
I am very thankful to find this place here in the south! Kentucky. I'm quite surprised when I visited this place. Right at the entrance, I was greeted with courtesy. The entrees that I ordered were cooked just right. The chicken was tendered and juicy! and OMG the pineapple fried rice.....I could've give the chef a big kiss! Lol. For appetizer: I highly recommend their chicken satay and puff crab.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
I am definitely a fan of this place. We were greeted promptly, and taken right to a table. The server was genuinely nice and walked us through the different spice levels. The sushi was spot on- so good! We ordered the duck, and found it to be just a bit dry for our liking. Did not like the fish cakes- very rubbery. Enjoyed the chicken satay very much! Will definitely go back, just for the service and sushi alone.
google avatar

Nick L.

Yelp
Ordered two dishes each with a five out of ten spice level. One had no spice and the other was so hot anyone who finished it should have had their picture posted on the Sweet Basil Wall of Champions. Seriously, there were more chili flakes than grains of rice in the pineapple fried rice. When the server asked why we weren't eating the fried rice we said it was due to the obscene heat level and that the other dish had no detectable spiciness. The server laughed and said you can't compare one dish to another for heat level and walked away. The pho was inedible, as previous reviews have mentioned, due to all ingredients being added in the kitchen and sitting to steep until they get around to bringing it to your table. No customization... just an overpowering amount of basil. On an arbitrary scale of one to ten for hotness this place ranks an F.

Hoarders A.

Yelp
Food sure isn't what it use to be however prices have gone up ridiculously-no wonder we were the only customers there-Massaman Curry

Yelp
We had a great time for free comic book day and got the opportunity to go eat here at sweet basil after with friends. We had a great waiter who had a great sense of humor named Max but we called him Tall Nervousman, only because a nobody caught his name when he first came up to the table! He really played into all the annoying things that we were doing and seem to enjoy having us as his table! The food was delicious, all of us got to sample different types of things from sushi to pad thai to teriyaki chicken, spring rolls, fried eggrolls and soups. If it weren't for the fact that it's in Covington we probably would come here more often I'm glad our friends that live there were able to show us this awesome restaurant! It's got a great atmosphere and ample parking. I would definitely recommend this to anybody that likes to try new Asian fusion types of restaurants! I hope we get the opportunity to come back!

Michael G.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service, and a good value. What's not to like. I had the Kra Pao Gai and my wife had Panang Gai. The only downside is that it isn't closer to our house!

Paula L.

Yelp
Favorite local restaurant for our family. Great staff. Wonderfully sushi bar. Cozy. Booths and tables. Something for everyone.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
It's extremely difficult for me to give a bad rating to a Thai and sushi joint. Sweet Basil would not place in my top favorites but it's a nice little spot. I am forever on the hunt for my go-to sushi station. Service was timely and friendly. Food was tasty but I will warn that the Volcano roll is a tad watery compared to other restaurants. Overall, it was a great visit but more than likely won't return unless I'm in the area.
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
Went here a while ago and the place was pretty good! The staff was my favorite part we had the sweetest waitress. The food overall was good but not the best I have ever had. I would definitely try it again!
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Great service. The red curry was ok. Highly recommend the pad sa eew and fish cakes. Finish the dinner with sticky rice and mango.

Cassandra M.

Yelp
We walked in at 2:10 and the server said they close at 2:30 and would only do carry out so we left. I don't understand restaurants anymore it's like they don't want money. Never going back.

Eddie E.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was good. Wish I found it at beginning of trip as definitely would have gone back. Pad Thai made spicy was the best I have had in US.

Rosalind J.

Yelp
Delicious, if you say Med it is pretty spicy . Good food Service was good, went around lunch time .
google avatar

Natasha W.

Yelp
I was not very impressed with their food. The sushi was not the freshest. The shrimp fried rice had big chunks of onions and tomatoes dispersed within. If that is how you like your fried rice this is the place for you.
google avatar

Mini M.

Yelp
Everything was very flavorful. The server was very helpful and really appreciated her fun attitude to our novice questions.

Michael V.

Yelp
Great food. Pleasant atmosphere. Sometimes service is slow but still return frequently.

Yelp
Always a pleasure dining here! I have never in all of the years they have been open had a bad experience! The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is top notch! I usually start out simple with the edamame and a glass of wine... The sushi is excellent and super fresh! I typically end my meal with the green tea ice cream! I love the fact that I can enjoy a nice non over bearing meal here. The flavors are so light and simple, enough to put a smile on my face. I never leave hungry but I never feel sickly ( have to unbutton my pants) full!

Yelp
We just had dinner here. Seriously perfect experience all around! I am aggrieved that Sweet Basil is so far from our house, since I would come here A LOT. I used to come here about 8 years ago in the old location when I was a grad student. Since moving to Cincinnati I haven't been back due to geography. Tonight we were on a tight schedule to get to Thomas More College for an event but we wanted something very tasty for dinner. I recalled Sweet Basil from my memory archives of delicious places to eat in NKY and suggested we try it again as a family. Literally, my family picked me up from work downtown at 5PM, we got to SB, ordered, ate and paid in ONE HOUR. We got to the restaurant before full-blown dinner hour, and the speedy service and fresh food could not be beat. We were seated immediately, and we asked our excellent server to try to get our food served as quickly as possible. Well, she and the kitchen staff delivered. In no time we were eating piping-hot spring rolls (greasy and delicious) and huge portions of fresh-cooked chicken Pad Thai and Ginger Chicken with Rice. The kiddo and I loved the Pad Thai, it wasn't too dry or too saucy or oily. The sliced velveted chicken breast was very tender and lean and moist - absolutely perfect (because nasty chicken can ruin a whole dish for me, ugh). The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant itself was very clean. I would eat here again in a heartbeat and we would even make a special trip here even though it is a bit of a drive for us. The food and service and efficiency were spot-on!!!

Gary B.

Yelp
Without a doubt, one of Northern Kentucky's best restaurants. Great food and great service at a reasonable price. If you like Thai, this is your place! Cashew Chicken is my favorite.

Marianne F.

Yelp
The food was great. Our server was kind, helpful, and able to answer all questions. They were also very accommodating of food allergies. It was easy to make online reservations too using their website.
google avatar

Leah B.

Yelp
Sweet basil has become my new go to for Thai in Cincinnati! Their pad Thai and curry is always spot on! I order vegetable pad Thai and I'm always pleasantly surprised with how many vegetables they add to the dish! Their lunch combos are a great deal and we love getting spring rolls and a miso soup with our meal .
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
Consistently great quality. Souls are especially terrific. Lunch portions are reasonably priced and are fresh and very tasty.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
So far not good, 15 min to take order, not even busy! 30 min no soup no salad yet.....dude just standing back there! 35 min,Cabbage soup not bad, ginger dressing way to salty, Sushi 40 min small and warm. Broccoli and shrimp stir fry came out so watery it was like soup! This place sucks! Couple of friends recommended this place to us......wonder what we did to them?
google avatar

Yelp
We were in the area and I was craving Thai. We usually go to Mai Thai, but we wanted to try something new since the reviews seemed good for this place. We ordered via take out and the only issue we had was the young receptionist. She was kind of air headed.. lol. I asked her how many servings does a certain dish have and she replied that she didn't understand the question.. I asked if it was a large portion that would feed two people.. still didn't understand and replied "um, yeah I think I don't understand the question"... lol.. I mean, how much more clarification can you make? Anyways we just ordered one order of their pad Thai and hot basil fried rice, the serving size was ok. But we definitely could have ordered more than 1 to feed 2 people and have some left overs for the next day. When we came to pick up the same receptionist rang up my bf and didn't tell us how much but proceeded to take his card and process it, only to realize, oh yeah this is your total. Lol! I mean that's not an issue for me but you probably need someone else to answer the phones for general questions like serving sizes. Lol. Anyways overall the food is really good, very flavorful. The only downside is we asked for the spice level to be a 6 and there was no spice level AT ALL. That was our only disappointment, maybe we'll need to order a spice level 10 next time. My bf said this place was as good as Mai Thai, and it's hard to impress him especially since so many places out here have disappointed us. Their pad Thai tastes just like the pad Thai we would get back at home in San Diego! So, I think we'll be here often for our Thai cravings!

Yelp
Love this place. I'm not a huge fan of Asian food, but when I get a craving, this is where I go. The food is FRESH!!!! This is nothing like heavy, greasy Chinese takeout. Your stirfry dish will come with an abundance of crisp, fresh vegetables, along with your choice of meat and a side of steamed rice. The prices are great, too. My only complaint is that a lot of the sauces taste the same; none of them really stand out from the others. Update: my favorite dish is officially the Pad See Eew. IT'S SO GOOD!
