Amazing flavors and the people are so humble and respectful! Food will not disappoint guys. Highly recommended for any Thai loving person. Atmosphere is cozy and warm with comfy seats.

I’m honestly shocked by how unbelievably unprofessional and disrespectful this restaurant turned out to be. My friends and I went there hoping to enjoy a nice weekend dinner together—just four people wanting to share a good meal and a good night. Instead, the staff managed to ruin the entire evening with their incompetence, terrible service, and complete lack of basic courtesy. We placed our order together because we specifically wanted to eat at the same time. Pretty simple, right? Apparently not for this restaurant. They brought out only two meals, told us the other two would arrive “right away,” and then disappeared for half an hour. When the food finally came, it was the wrong order. Instead of apologizing, they just shrugged it off with a quick “wrong order” and took the plates back as if wasting our time was normal. Another 30 minutes passed. We were starving, so the four of us ended up sharing the two dishes that had arrived earlier, something we never planned to do but had no choice. When the waiter eventually returned, he casually said, “One of your meals is ready, and the other is being prepared.” At this point we had already shared everything, and the whole point, having dinner together, was completely ruined. We politely told them we didn’t want the last meals anymore because they were far too late and the experience was already ruined. Not only did they fail to apologize, but they acted irritated, dismissive, and shockingly rude about the entire situation. There was zero accountability, zero apology, and certainly zero effort to make up for their mistakes. Most decent restaurants at least offer a sincere apology, a discount, or some gesture of goodwill when they mess up this badly. But not here. Instead, they delayed us even further by taking another 20 minutes just to bring the check. By the end of the night, we were frustrated, hungry, and completely done with this place. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend dinner became an exhausting mess because of their poor service, bad attitude, and total lack of professionalism. Save yourself the trouble and go literally anywhere else. There are plenty of restaurants that actually care about their customers, respect your time, and know how to treat guests like human beings. This place clearly does not. I will never return, and I strongly recommend others avoid it as well.

My favorite restaurant in Norman! I love all of the staff, always so welcoming and fun! Always the freshest food 🥰

Google
Interior is very nice and comfortable. Service was excellent from start to finish. Quality of food and portions to price was good. Ordered the fresh rolls and a bowl of Tom Yum with tofu. The portions were huge and I couldn’t finish but both were tasty. I enjoyed eating here.

Google
Amazing service and Food! Sophia is truly one of the best servers I’ve ever had anywhere. She has such a great attitude, is incredibly attentive, and makes sure you have everything you need without even having to ask. You can tell she genuinely cares about her job and her customers. She deserves recognition for how hard she works and how kind she is. If you go to Sweet Basil, definitely ask for her!! You won’t be disappointed!

Google
My Top Pick for Thai Cuisine in Norman! Having explored all the Thai dining options in Norman, I can confidently say that none match the culinary excellence of this gem. The standout dish? The Chicken Pad Thai – it’s unrivaled in taste and quality across Norman. What sets this restaurant apart is its focused menu. They don’t spread themselves thin trying to offer everything. Instead, they excel in what they do offer, ensuring a consistently delightful experience. A tip for those on the go: the service here is impressively fast! If you’re short on time, a phone order will have your meal ready in just 5 minutes. Highly recommended for both the food and the efficiency!

Google
Sweet basil is hands down the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to! Great service! Great food! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I suggest getting the evil jungle its amazing! Also if you have a nut allergy they make sure that they are extremely careful!!

Google
I’m not trying to spread hate, nor was I looking for anything special. I simply shared my experience, which is exactly what Google reviews are designed for. I don’t see any reason why I should have to explain myself further or be questioned for it , people can read both sides and make their own judgment. As a manager, you were fully aware of what was happening, how much unnecessary time we spent waiting, and how long the gaps were between our dishes. Yet you describe it as if, after an hour of waiting, we “just decided” to cancel and you simply did what we asked. The least you could have done was apologize in person, but instead you chose to ignore the situation and continue eating your donut. There is absolutely no issue with your server, in fact, the server said they would bring the manager over, but you chose not to come. If you’re running a business, respecting your customers and being open to criticism should come first. And if you can’t handle criticism, that’s your own problem, not the customer’s. All we expected last night was a respectful interaction, not to be ignored. I prefer not to continue this discussion any further.

Yelp
Sweet Basil is amazing! The atmosphere was so warm and inviting and the food was delectable! The staff is so helpful and attentive and pleasantly friendly! Our new favorite Thai restaurant...we will be back! Thank you!

Yelp
I was VERY pleased with our server today! She had a great personality, and was giving amazing feedback on the menu in general, and great advice to a friend with celiac disease. its a nice looking restaurant, the people were great and the food was delicious. I feel bad i can not recall the servers name, but she said its her grandmothers restaurant.

Yelp
i've lived around the world and I always make sure to visit Sweet Basil when I come home. I've visited over 70 countries and while I've had lots of great food, Sweet Basil remains one of my favorites. Today's dining experience was as always, outstanding. Ambiance, service, food are all top notch. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is my new addiction. Every time I order the yellow curry I am in heaven and this is amazing. From the food to the owner to the servers!

Charles B.

Yelp
This place was awesome highly recommend. The server was awesome real friendly and the cook had us sample some pineapple fried rice and it was amazing. I ordered the yellow curry and it was amazing. I'm definitely coming back with my family.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! We came with a group of ladies for a birthday. Our waitress was knowledgeable when we had questions. She was so good. The new remodel looks amazing. When we were leaving everyone said bye to us even the sweet lady in the back cooking. The food is so flavorful with every bite! Don't miss out on this gem!

Ian H.

Yelp
This was my first time coming here and I brought my coworkers to try it as well. Server explained everything clear about the meals we ordered. Even got to sample some pineapple fried rice which was amazing. 10/10 would recommend! The entire staff's hospitality was great!

Ali W.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to come. I just found out they are doing specials all throughout June from my server Sophia. The music was great and the staff were very attentive!
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal or experience. The food is nothing short of amazing; the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The wait staff are always friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.

Yelp
We ate here while visiting our son in Norman. The decor and atmosphere is very nice. We were waited on promptly and the server was very pleasant. We did not have to wait long for our food. There were 3 of us and we all really enjoyed our meals. A very nice restaurant.

Yelp
I order all the time from Sweet Basil, and today I found a large amount of plastic in my food. unsure what's going on.

Yelp
My wife and I really like Sweet Basil. This is a beautiful restaurant, with amazing food. The portions are adequate for me, but my wife finds a way to get two more meals. The service is very professional. Great ambiance for a date night.

Yelp
Okay this place is really good and cheap! What?! Chicken Egg Rolls These were pretty good! I really liked them. It came really hot so pace yourself. The assortment of vegetables and chicken really hits the spot. It comes with two sauces. I only tried one which turned out to be pretty sweet. Score: 4/5 Chicken Pad Thai Probably the best chicken pad Thai I've ever had. It was sweet, sour, and a little bit salty. I need more of this. I'm going to have to come back to this place and get it again. I am pretty picky but this is really good Thai food. Also, it comes with a spicy level from 0 to 5. I got zero since I can't really handle spice that well. Score: 5/5 They also have pineapple fried rice. Note: Must come back and try this

Yelp
We were so excited that Sweet Basil is open again after several months of being closed for renovations. It was one of the first dates we had as a couple so we decided that was where we'd spend Valentine's this year. The food was every bit as good as we remembered and the new changes to the decor was beautiful. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. I get that it was Valentine's Day and they're just getting back into the swing of things but today was hands down the worst service experience we've had there ever. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table. We expected as much since it was a holiday. The problem started when we and another couple who were waiting to be seated watched as one of the managers stood there gabbing with customers and the other just walked right by while empty tables were sitting dirty--one had been dirty when we walked in. Then after we finally got seated we watched all of the servers as well as the managers walk right past us, take video of customers (I assume for social media), while we sat without anyone coming to take our drink order or even just say "hey, I'll be right back." We had to remind our server we needed more water and when it came time for dessert, it wasn't even offered and they started asking about how to divide our checks. We didn't even mention it at that point because we were so frustrated. I still gave them 4 of 5 stars here because the food was delicious, and I'd like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt because it was a holiday and they had just re-opened but it will for sure be a little while before we dine in here again.

Yelp
While this restaurant is perfectly fine, I think that the atmosphere is nicer than the food. It's a very subdued and pleasant place, but the food is generally just average Thai. Basil stir fry was fine with decently fresh basil, but the sauce was on the salty side and the rice wasn't all too fresh. That said, the papaya salad was wonderfully crunchy, although the dressing may have been more salty than sour.

Adrienne D.

Yelp
Everything was fabulous. I particularly loved the yellow curry based soups. Staff was knowledgeable and very helpful.

Yelp
There are some times in life when a meal is so good you wanna lick some off the plate! This was good food! I must say I rarely get disappointed with Thai food but I rarely think that it could not have been better and this is that time!!! Nothing better than this! Love this, will go again

Yelp
Ate dinner last night with a large group (12-15 of us) and they accommodated us extremely well. Service from the waiter and waitress was spot on (without overkill), food tasted great - I had the tasty Coconut Soup (Tom Kha) - and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Highly recommend

Yelp
Excellent Thai food served in a cozy downtown environment. Have not yet tried much of the menu, can certainly confirm that the Pad Thai & Green Curry are very good. I will be back to work my way through the menu. The staff are very friendly.

Yelp
This place is very cute and intimate! Great for a date night! The food is very flavorful and delicious! Their dishes are quite spicy so be cautious with the level of spice you choose. This is definitely my favorite Thai spot in Norman ! Make sure to try the pineapple fried rice it is scrumptious!
google avatar

Clarrisa L.

Yelp
Great food, great service, very clean and quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend and definitely get the Mango Sticky Rice!
google avatar

Laura N.

Yelp
I have enjoyed every dish I've ever had! Great gluten free and vegan options. Staff is always attentive and friendly!

Yelp
Went in late in the afternoon. Seated fairly quick. The waitress was nice and made sure questions were answered, recommendations made, and water refilled. The food came out fairly quick; I ordered the pork fried rice and green curry with chicken, both were good, but can't say I was wowed. I'd say taste-wise the curry was the better of the two. The decor was on point and everything was clean and in order. Overall, would recommend if in the area, but can't say I'd go out of my way for it.
google avatar

Genevieve F.

Yelp
I have eaten here several times over the last several years, and it's always good. But it's a bit pricey for Thai, and their lunch specials aren't all that. But the food is good. On the lunch special you get a side, which could be Eggrolls, soup, etc. the veggie Eggrolls are phenomenal and quite tasty. Often veggie Eggrolls fall short, but these are great. The sauce they provide is also good. I got the shrimp Pad Thai and it was really good. I do feel like the noodles were overcooked. The sauce was good and they had 6 decent sized shrimp, so possibly the slightly higher price point is justified.

Yelp
First time here. It was really dim inside. I was greeted by the waiter and seated immediately. I ordered unsweet tea, which tasted watered down, beef fried rice with spring rolls which came with 2. The rice was mushy, maybe cooked way too long, and greasy although it did have a good flavor. The spring rolls tasted like it had an ingredient that didnt belong. Other than that it was good. I brought the taste of the tea to my waiters attention and he took it off my ticket right away. He was a great waiter. Too bad that I probably wont be back for a while.
google avatar

Yelp
It was our first time here because we love Thai food their menu had a good selection. But we had called in our order and picked it up. However, when we got home we notice that one of our orders (Yellow Curry) the chicken was not fully cooked!!! We were very disappointed. You think that when you order something that it is fully cooked , well not in this case. We probably won't be going back!!!!

Aren L.

Yelp
Mustve been who was working at the time, but the food did not taste the same as ive had before, didnt have time to have new food made so paid anyways and left. But that second experience made me not want to eat here again. My rice was undercooked and the chicken tasted rotten or old. With the prices of everything these days things should not taste this bad. thats what upset me the most was the first time i ate here the chicken was good.

Scott R.

Yelp
We've been here a couple of times while visiting and it's always good. Staff is also super friendly!
google avatar

Lori T.

Yelp
We're so happy the remodel is completed and Sweet Basil is open again! It continues to offer a clean calm environment where the chefs create delicious Thai cuisine every time. I don't recommend you go if you want a quick meal though ~ they give you time to enjoy the experience without rushing you in an effort to turn tables. Simply order to go ahead if your are short on time.
google avatar

Kelly F.

Yelp
The evil Jungle curry was so good! I enjoy the minced veggies compared to the bigger slices in the Panang curry. I am never disappointed with Sweet Basil. Even my 19 month old tears up the pad thai!
google avatar

Tes H.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai places. The pad Thai here is some of the best I've had. It's about $11-$15 per entree but overall it's worth it for a night of food Thai foods. I often got take out from here when I lived down the street and they're always so friendly on the phone and when I come to pick up my food. Always offering extra condiments.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
Get the Khao soi. It's phenomenal! Best I've had outside of East Asia. Creamy curry with crunchy noodles. It is my favorite Thai dish.
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
Our favorite in Norman, which is saying a lot - Norman has a lot of great Thai!!! Love their Evil Jungle Curry, Pad Thai and Fresh Rolls with Peanut Sauce!
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Red Curry with chicken is my favorite dish in all of Norman. Seriously flavorful and creamy.

Sara D.

Yelp
This is our go-to date night spot--delicious food but also cozy, private booths with flattering light and a quieter ambiance (maybe this gives away that we're middle aged!)

Talie A.

Yelp
Honestly the best Thai food in norman maybe even Oklahoma . Everything comes out fresh and delicious as always . The pad kee mao is amazing . They accommodate to food allergies would definitely recommend .

Michelle C.

Yelp
We have loved sweet basil for years and couldn't wait for them to re-open. Not sure if staff is new but our experience tonight was awful. We ordered to go as we live far away. I requested a gluten free and when the food arrived nothing was labeled so there was no way for me to discern which meal was gluten free. When I called the girl I spoke said "that's unfortunate" and nothing else. It's more than unfortunate, it's actually a big deal to someone who becomes very ill. Poor customer service for sure.
google avatar

Lucy W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place! They offer a ton of options and very healthy sized portions. I really appreciated the range of spice levels. I like it hot while my friend is a mild child and both options still tasted great. Thanks sweet basil!
google avatar

Ron D.

Yelp
Pure Deliciousness! And large servings as well. I had plenty to cover lunch the next day so it is like getting two for one. Due to the COVID restrictions, the service was a little slow so they could keep kitchen staff socially distanced but I'd rather wait and keep our service staff safe. This was my first time to visit and I can't wait to go back. Main Street Norman has many little gems to eat at and Sweet Basil is right there at the top of the list! Full of flavor, balanced blend of spices, and very authentic.
google avatar

Melissa F.

Yelp
This is one of the BEST places to eat in Norman. Wonderful staff and amazing food. I highly recommend the pineapple fried rice with tofu level 2 and spring rolls!!
google avatar

Henry B.

Yelp
It's clean The service was good. They live up to their name of been sweet. The salad was sweet so was the pad Thai. Garlic stirfry had almost no garlic and the sauce they put on it was extremely salty. And the Spring rolls were burnt on the outside. You could pull off all the burnt shell and eat the center. If you like sweet food this is a place for you. .
google avatar

Alan N.

Yelp
Ordered to go, small nice place and friendly staff here, good food but the price per portion is a bit off, definitely know I can get more food elsewhere. Spice scale also needs an adjustment, the jump between 1-2 is a bit large, the prices are a bit steep too. Overall decent food, but at least the staff were very nice!
google avatar

Anita B.

Yelp
Food has gone downhill in recent years. Ordered yellow curry, all of the vegetables in it were raw, including onions, peppers, carrots etc. sent it back and the new serving was exactly the same. Server didn't even bother check with us so I just picked out the chicken and left all of the raw vegetables. The other dishes all did not taste right, fries tofu was tasteless, spring rolls had a strange tastes to it and the pad Thai was terrible. Food took a very long time to come out yet vegetables in them were raw, how come? This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant, but this is my last visit here. Truly disappointed in both the food and the service.
google avatar

Maddy B.

Yelp
This is my very favorite restaurant in Norman! I've always gotten great service and the food is absolutely phenomenal. Fresh flavors and ingredients. Thanks for setting the standard!
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Love this Thai restaurant! Very good pad Thai and spring rolls. The service is awesome and I get a great meal for a good value every time.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
A forever fave. They have some of the most expensive (comparatively) curry options in the area, but more than worth it. You absolutely get what you pay for.
google avatar

Matt A.

Yelp
First thing you need to know: THE TOM YUM SOUP IS NAILS. If you like tom yum soup, this is the best we've had in Norman. It's bright and fresh and spicy. It isn't full of inedible bamboo shoots that will stab your gums. We love it. It's awesome. The prihk king (sp?) is essentially the green bean and chili oil stir fry. It is served with a side of steamed rice. The spice level of 3 out of 5 was respectable. Not quite enough to get your nose running, but enough to notice. It's pretty good but perhaps not quite as flavorful as its counterpart at the Thai Kitchen in downtown OKC. Spring rolls: standard but good. We ordered it delivered through OrderUp. This is one of our favorite places. It's significantly better than O Asian. Not sure if it is better than Thawan.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
One of the better Thai restaurants in central Oklahoma. I love their panang curry. The atmosphere is really neat with lots of dark wood and a beautiful fish tank.

Carly F.

Yelp
Consistently delicious. I order pad Thai with tofu and it's always amazing. My favorite Thai place!
