Google
This wasn’t my first time visiting—I’ve been here before and previously tried the strawberry, grape, and tangerine Tanghulu. They were really good, though definitely on the pricey side, but that’s expected given the current hype. This was my first time trying their Dubai chocolate-covered strawberries, and I went with the cup that includes pistachio cream. Honestly, I wouldn’t spend $15 on it again. The chocolate completely overpowered the pistachio flavor, and there wasn’t much cream to begin with. I probably would’ve enjoyed it more if I had just gone with the regular chocolate-covered strawberries on their own. They also offer other treats like macarons, which I’ve tried and found to be pretty tasty. Overall, everything I’ve had here has been good, but it’s definitely on the expensive side—so it depends on what you’re willing to spend for the experience.

Google
Was lovely working with JJ and Brian to arrange macarons as part of our wedding dessert spread. They were consistently responsive and very thorough in making sure the macarons were exactly as ordered and fit our vision. We got to customize the shell and flavors and they were a hit with our guests! Thank you Sweet Box team!

Google
Located downstairs next to the escalators! These macarons are so cute!! They have lots of cute designed ones. They even had one with a brownie in it. Delicious! They will put it in a box for you if you order a certain amount. The price and name of the flavors are very visible and isn’t confusing at all. I’m not sure if their flavors change every season.. Price point is around the same as other places. Highly recommend since you can eat or walk around in this plaza. Great hangout spot with friends or significant others!

Google
This place is very cute and is a great place to stop by for a sweet snack. The service was fast and the worker was very nice. The character macron was not too sweet with great attention to details. The tanghulu had a thick layer of sugar that I wasn't a fan of but I liked that it came with a wrapper to prevent sticky fingers. Will definitely come back to try more flavors and the dragon beard candy!

Google
First time trying tanghulu here and now im obsessed. I now come here once a month to buy macarons for my daughter and tanghulu for me.

Google
Cute little spot that had a decent amount of people lined up when we showed up after eating dinner. The dragon beard candy was a little interesting. We had the Oreo flavor and the taste was yummy. However, we didn't expect the texture to initially be like a dry crusty rock lol! I'd still eat it again though. The grape tanghulu was very good. The strawberry one was kinda difficult to bite into bc of how plump it was but still taste fine. The outer coating started to melt so the sugar was slowly dripping down when we walked around We also had some macarons and there's many options to choose from

Google
Yummy buttercream macaroons!! Very cute characters and pretty big size! I liked that it wasn’t too sweet, but it tasted more like frosting than buttercream to me at least. I did like the raspberry flavor better than the strawberry. I hope I didn’t annoy the young lady by asking her if she can tell me all the flavors they had lol 🥺 Very worth it and great price! Bigger than most places! I do prefer jelly like, but these were just as great!

Marissa

Google
So happy to find dragon beard! My favorite! Also, my husband is French and he really enjoyed his macaron - said it's the best he's ever had! Including the ones in France! We'll be back!

Yelp
Cute little store in the source OC. They have plenty of sweets but the tanghulu was one that caught my attention. You dont really see many tanghulu spots around in SoCal and the ones I have tried in this area was not very good! FOOD: Strawberry Tanghulu - $5.50 (5/5) This was sooo good! I've tried tanghulu in Japan and Taiwan and I would say this is very close. The sugar coating is perfectly crispy and does not stick to your teeth. The strawberries were HUGE and pretty sweet as well. Grape Tanghulu - $5 (5/5) These grapes are bite sized and if youre not feeling like chewing into a strawberry, this is perfect for you. The grapes are sweet and crunchy and sooo good Dragon Beard 10 pc [oreo] - $10 (5/5) TS was soo good. Its kinda like cotton candy but denser if yk what i mean. I ahd this once in japan and I do be craving this. IDK anywhere else that sells this but this was amazing and tasted soo good. They had a sesame flavor but I think the oreo was pretty good (americanized dragon beard loll). I love this i demolished in one day There arent many tanghulu spots around and this place does! They also make it great and satisfied my craving for these. Dragon beard as well! I think putting them in the freezer will keep it soft for longer.

Yelp
If you've ever been to Japan and had the privilege to try the Tanghulu (candied fruit), you know what I am talking about. We came to the Source for my daughter's birthday per her request, and this was one of the stops we came to. The strawberry tanghulu was 4/5 pretty close to the ones we've tried in Japan. The tangerine tanghulu was alright, it was bland, it would be better if it had a sour or sweeter taste. This was a 2/5 for me. I should've bought the grape one instead of the tangerine one. Strawberry Tanghulu $5.50 Grape Tanghulu $5.00 Tangerine Tanghulu $5.00

Yelp
i get a salted caramel macaron every time i'm at the source - literally the best one and could inhale so many if i could LOL - just wish they did more fun special flavors every now and then, but nice that they stick to the same classic ones haha not a complaint but every time I go, the workers are lowkey so intense and quiet that it's mildly intimidating LOLLL still get my macarons though bc it's just a quick grab hahaha
google avatar

Vanna T.

Yelp
Stopped by for some macarons. They were okay, but nothing special about them. They have a variety of desserts here. There was a long line earlier in the day, but no one there at night time since it was close to closing time. Okay service.
google avatar

Jax L.

Yelp
$16 Dubai chocolate strawberry cup is not worth it: chocolate was way too sweet AND the chocolate hardens within 2 minutes so it was really difficult to dig out the strawberries. 4 ppl shared 2 cups for $30 and we all agreed it was not worth it. Also, not enough pistachio flavor at all: there was less than 10% pistachio in the cup. *Request: offer dark chocolate option to offset sweetness; and use chocolate that does NOT harden solid when cooled off. $5 tangerine tanghulu was cute and worth it. Will come back to try other fruits. This is a walk-up window order. Service was fast and friendly.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Yummmyy!! The tangerine tanghulu was our favorite! The tanginess of the tangerine perfectly balances the sugar coating. Service was great as well!

Yelp
Who doesn't want a delicious treat after a delicious meal? Met my sister and family here for lunch and to spend time together it was our last day before our Grandma and Aunty leave back home to Arkansas. We had a wonderful time together and all of us wanted to get a treat before we left and this is our favorite place to stop and get a treat. I did get more stuff but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of everything. I ended up getting the Dragon beard Oreo treat, it's so amazing and baby girl wanted the grape Tanghulu but she ate it before I could take a picture lol and we all got a bunch of Macarons. I really like coming here they treats. The girl took our order and rang us up was so kind and sweet and patient with all the kids. Thank you so much for excellent service and always delicious treats. Have a beautiful day, be kind to everyone :) Aloha

Yelp
Surprised how much I enjoyed, it was great! The tanghulu was well made and the fruit was fresh with huge strawberry pieces. Macarons are also great and they have so many cute characters and designs. Not a French style macaron, but definitely very good worth trying
google avatar

Jodi T.

Yelp
Got the early grey macaron and it was delicious. The macaron shells were too soft, but the flavor and butter cream were so good! Very strong in taste.

Yelp
Daughter loved this tangulu, looked yummy love coming to sweet box when I'm at The Source :) everyone's nice and lots of great treats ...
google avatar

Cecilia Jane N.

Yelp
This location is located on the first floor of the source and it's pretty easy to find. I came for their French macarons and I loved their chewy texture! They have regular and special character/animal macarons. I think they use buttercream for the filling and my favorite was the cookies and cream. I didn't give 5 stars because the earl grey macaron shell didn't have much "feet" which resulted in a less chewy/hollow cookie. Service was quick and friendly. There is a bell at the register to ring for assistance if no one is standing up front. Overall, a solid spot for French macarons and I will be back!
google avatar

Courtney T.

Yelp
I went back and got more flavors! Red velvet was divine! Green: matcha 7/10 Red: red velvet 9/10 Black and white: earl grey 10/10 Pink: birthday cake? 5/10 Nutella: 7.5/10 The flavors were nice
google avatar

Yelp
Located inside the Source Shopping Center. We opted for the Tanghulus, Macaroon. The Tanghulu were freshly made, where the sugar on the outside was still slightly warm but still had a hard crunch. The Strawberries were ripe and juicy. I never had a tanghulu prior to this, but now I understand why it's been trending more lately. The macarons they serve come in different flavors such as pistachio, vanilla, green tea, earl grey, etc. Overall, I can't wait to come back to try other items.
google avatar

Celina N.

Yelp
Tried the strawberry tanghulu and some of their macarons here. The strawberry tanghulu isn't really worth it, you get three strawberries coated in sugar shell for $5. The sugar on the outside is also kinda thick compared to ones that I had in Asia. The thick sugar made it too sweet, however for the macarons the earl grey and salted caramel ones i got were delicious.
google avatar

Gisselle C.

Yelp
So this is probably my 5th time coming back to this place and it never disappoints!! The macaroons are always super cute and the flavors are to die for and the ingredients are high quality. One of my favorite things to gift to friends and family. It is just a walk up window so keep that in mind. The cashiers are always very sweet and amazing at going over options.
google avatar

Ana T.

Yelp
The macaroons here are so cute and delicious! They are very soft and just a touch too sweet, but still incredibly tasty.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
My coworker brought some sweets for us from sweet ox so this review is based only on the taste Macaron itself. The character macarons are so cute!!! I'm not a huge fan of macarons because of how sweet they tend to be but the flavor was not tooo sweet and was pretty tasty!
google avatar

Devin B.

Yelp
Cute little space in a strip mall, with tons of macaroon options with lots of flavor choices. We stopped to try the viral candied fruits. We got a skewer of strawberries and the berries were cold out the fridge with a crunchy candy coating over it. The uniqueness was there but it was not for me. The worker was a sweet young girl who was very nice. Next time I'd try a macaroon but all in all it's a nice little treat stop.
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
Tanghulu Tried the strawberry and it was kinda too sweet. The sugar coating was also kinda on the thick side and not thin. It also dripped all over the place. But it hit the sweet spot that I needed. Also the one you get doesnt look like whats displayed.
google avatar

Krista K.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try tanghulus as they are so popular nowadays and I'm so glad to have found one that sells it so close my place! Strawberry tanghulu- 5/5: This one was SO good. The juiciness of the strawberry with the sweetness of the sugar paired so well together. The strawberry pieces were also huge. This is a must try!! Grape tanghulu- 3/5: This one paled in comparison to the strawberry. It was good but not as sweet or juicy as the strawberry. I'd pass on this and try a different fruit. Will definitely be coming back to try the other fruits!
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
We come here for tanghulu and honestly it's hit or miss. The shell is nice and crunchy but the skewers are not made fresh so the strawberries leak juice and it is a mess to eat. Still delicious. Just a bit stressful to eat especially with the kids. I wish they provided some type of tray to catch the mess:
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
yeah so me, my cousin, my cousins sister who's also my cousin, the bf of my cousin who's the sister of my other cousin, and the gf of the first cousin i mentioned, all came here to try the tanghulu. we got the tangerine, grape, and strawberry. and honestly man u just cannot mess these up. the strawberry was mid compared to the other fruits tho bc it wasn't as sweet. but damn that tangerine was prob the best tangerine i've ever had. it was like cold and the citrus busted right as i took that bite. and with that sweet coating... absolutely thrilling. the grape was pretty good too. bruh they fosho don't go organic here bc the fruit they use r hella gargantuan. but i will say it's a bit expensive. they making good profits fosho.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Tiktok seriously blew this place up! There is a line now when I go and I wanted to see the hype. I got the Grape Tanghulu and my friend got the Strawberry one. The grape was cold, crunchy, and super sweet. I think Tanghulu is just not for me (to finish the entire thing). I still pretty much enjoyed it and wanted to try it for the experience. My friend did try the strawberry one but didn't like it as much because of how frozen it was. Their dragon bearded candy was honestly the best when I used to come here for that. Glad to try the tanghulu, but now I gotta get back to my favorites LOL
google avatar

Rose P.

Yelp
1st time to try ...will be back for more ! Nice venue inside the "The Source" in Buena Park
google avatar

Abegail A.

Yelp
When I heard a local OC spot was selling Tanghulu (a Chinese candied fruit snack), I knew I had to pay them a visit. You can try strawberry (my favorite of the 3!), tangerine, and grape at Sweet Box - of course I had to try all three! They were sweet (a little too sweet for me) and had a nice crunch. I highly recommend sharing one unless you have a sweet tooth.
google avatar

Janine D.

Yelp
I searched out Sweet Box in my quest for Dragon's Beard Candy for the Chinese New Year . This was the only place I found in Southern California that makes this specialty. (Google it!!) Sweet Box is a walk up counter shop in The Source Mall in Buena Park. They hand-make Dragons Beard year-round. It is a labor intensive, lost art process. They also specialize in French Macrons. The young woman working there was very nice. I could see that several other people were working in the back, where the sweets are all made on-site. This is a walk up counter, so no "store" or seating area. It is in a mall that primarily caters to Asian clients, predominantly Korean. Lots of variety in the shopping and dining options.
google avatar

Kristine D.

Yelp
Came here for TANGHULU and went back for seconds. I first tried the strawberries and it was amazing! After shopping I returned to try out the oranges. It was delicious, but very messy. The juice definitely will spill everywhere. The shop is very cute and the macaroons were beautifully decorated. My husband had a macaroon and he loved it! Staff was nice and very helpful.
google avatar

Becky C.

Yelp
Such a cute place! I used to come here more often but as they got popular the line has become so long I dont really want to wait in it. They overall have solid macarons with nice chewy textures. I dont think any flavors stick out to me but there designs are so cute! Recomend waiting in long line at least once a quarter.
google avatar

Melody C.

Yelp
The macaroons here are really good. Not too sweet compared to other places. The workers are friendly and sweet. Prices are not too bad. Better than most places that charge an excessive amount for something that it way toooooo sweet. The pistachio macaroon is surprisingly really, really good!
google avatar

Wesley L.

Yelp
Wanted a sweet treat on my way out of the Source at OC & saw the line had gone down. While their macarons are cute (and a little pricey for my taste), my eyes were drawn to their tanghulu. I've always wanted to try it and this seemed like the perfect moment. Got the strawberry one for $5.50 (they also had a grape option). The strawberries were pretty sizable, but I was just impressed with how their sweetness was only amplified by the sugar coating. Got a little messy on my clothes/rug, but they give a napkin and muffin wrap to reduce the spillage. A tasty treat for something you can't find at a lot of!
google avatar

Brenda M.

Yelp
First time trying Tanghulu and it was very good the tanginess and sweetness from the outside she'll make for a perfect combo. The visual appeal of the shinny candy was so nice that it made me not want to eat it. We also had the birthday cake macaron that was delicious. The location was an outdoor mall so it was ideal to walk around and snack on our sweets.
google avatar

Reese J.

Yelp
Stumbled across Sweet Box after having dinner. It's located on the first floor of the Source. It's a small counter service spot that offers macarons and ice cream macarons. The flavors they offer are pretty average. I do appreciate that they offer ice cream macarons because you can't find that everywhere. The macarons were average, perfect size for satisfying the sweet tooth.
google avatar

Uno C.

Yelp
A friend recommended Sweet Box for the Macarons, so we decided to check it out. Extremely tasty sweets and super friendly services!! Highly recommended!!
google avatar

Zainab M.

Yelp
Specifically visited the source because we wanted to try the tanghulu here! We went on a Saturday evening and there was a line, but it went super quickly - we thought we'd be there for at least 15-20 minutes but were at the front within 5 minutes. They have plenty of options for treats, but we all tried the tanghulu! We opted for the grape, orange, and strawberry and everyone loved them all! They had that perfect crunch you'd expect. Also price wise it was fantastic with other places charging double if not triple! Will visit again when in the area
google avatar

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Here for Macaron and Tanghulu! For macarons, I got the boba and smiley face character. I think the boba is boba milk tea flavor. The smiley face is pandan flavor which I enjoy. I got the green grape tanghulu and it's tasty. The sugar coat is crunchy, but not too hard like other places. I'll definitely recommend the tanghulu even though it's pricey at $5.
google avatar

A T.

Yelp
This place is why I'd make the trip to the source! Their macarons are decadent, delicious and adorable. Reasonably priced and packed really adorable. They had really cute character ones too. Next time, I'll try the macaron ice cream!
google avatar

Celine P.

Yelp
lots of ppl come here for the tanghulu, which is solid, but the macarons are the real star! 4 for $10 is such a great deal when you're getting macarons of this size. the texture of these macarons are so dense and pillowy and the flavors are so realistic. the coffee one and the injeolmi blew my mind. they have cute little designs too!
google avatar

Joseph N.

Yelp
This was the first time I tried Tanghulu and it was so good! The fruits are very fresh and are very sweet. Eat it with the sugar on the outside and it's BANGING! I tried both the strawberry and grape and they were both good but if I had to pick, I would pick the strawberry one. The shop itself is very cute and the service was quick and easy. I highly recommended getting some napkins because the sugar can get you in a STICKY situation. I'll definitely come back when I'm craving some Tanghulu!
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
Never a wait here for cute sweets and treats! It's a small store front where you can order and take to go, but since it's in the Source, there's seating all around. Definitely my stop for cute character macarons based off of Disney characters, LINE friends, Kakao friends, etc. Reasonable and affordable prices for tasty macarons. They also have dragon whisker candy here too, and in unique flavors like Oreo!
google avatar

Nina W.

Yelp
Really cute little macaron stand that's located on the first floor of The Source near the donut shop. The Source has plenty of free parking so it's super easy to access and There's only a store front and no seating so you'd have to sit outside in the common areas to eat the macarons. The staff there was pretty friendly and open to answering my questions about the different flavors. There are plenty of flavors plus really cute character macarons available. Their popular flavors are cookies & cream and salted caramel, but I decided to try a flavor I've never had which was the Injeolme (soy bean powder rice mochi / kinako). The flavor was really good and light and not too sweet which I enjoyed! It was very creamy and the powder can be a bit messy to eat but I enjoyed the flavor very much! Would love to try more flavors in the future.
google avatar

Marnie M.

Yelp
The Source has a lot of hidden gems and one of those is Sweet Box. Definitely a must go to spot to get that sweet tooth craving. There desserts are freshly made along with the sugar strawberries and you could taste it as you take your first bite. Truly appreciate great customer service and the young lady that helped us was super sweet. Thankfully there are seating areas around these small shops and can enjoy these nice treats with friends and family.
google avatar

Julia Kaitlin V.

Yelp
Went to Sweet Box for their viral tanghulu! This was my first time getting this treat. Strawberry was $5.50 and grape was $5.00. It had a nice crunch but nothing too special. Wish there were more fruit on the stick. The employee was friendly and quick. Good to try if you're in the area though!
google avatar

Alison A.

Yelp
Sweet box in the past has been the go to for super cute character macarons and dragons beard candy. Note, the original dragons bead candy is the best. However, recently there's been a lot of hype around tanghulu. So much so that they started selling it. They sell for $5 a piece which is a bit pricey. It was very interesting to try though. I was hoping I would like the grape one more than I did. My favorite was the Mandarin orange one since it's naturally sweet and then their strawberry one would be my second favorite.
google avatar

Kayla Y.

Yelp
food: this was my first ever time trying tanghulu since it is so hyped up. it wasn't bad, i just expected more. i do believe since it's blown up, pricing is w bit much, but i'm not complaining! the macaron was pretty good and cute with a bear design! not too sweet :) service: the line moved pretty quickly and the cashier was super sweet. ambiance: nothing to really say, its like a little stand, so u just wait in line outside and grab your items and leave! no seating in the area
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I've been seeing Sweetbox reviews on YouTube & have been wanting to try! & it did not disappoint! The tanghulu is a must. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and savory. The grape and the strawberry was so juicy. Totally recommend trying if you're in the area!
google avatar

Savannah R.

Yelp
I visited Sweet Box on Saturday, 1/27/24, in the afternoon. What caught my interest was the Tanghulu. I never tried it before so I was ecstatically excited to try it. I opted for the Strawberries. The overall taste was just decent. I truly liked the hardened sugar coating. However, the freshness of the strawberries was questionable. For $5.50, it wasn't too shabby.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Never imagined a sugared strawberry to be so yummy! Prepare for it to be frozen/cold and sweet! Located on the first floor and in the middle of the outdoor mall. Plenty of free parking.
google avatar

Aryan B.

Yelp
I can't taste the flavor. Pistachio, matcha, cookies and cream all tasted the same. Too pricey for the taste. Service and ambiance are ok. I wouldn't come back nor recommend it.
