Manhattan Bar Gem Wine to Close, Move Into Bigger Space | Eater NY

"I'm reporting that Sweet Cats Cafe, a dessert shop and arcade with a viral following online, is opening its third New York City location at 21 East 17th Street near Broadway in Union Square this fall; the business's original location is in Fresh Meadows, Queens, and it became popular online after expanding to Flushing in 2021." - Luke Fortney

To the time I stepped in I felt welcomed from the staff to the place itself. It is definitely an upcoming venue with very good promise their customers. Being in the hospitality industry I could only say they are on a right track and I can’t wait what they do next with the space. Favorite drink and sandwich are the morir soñado with their signature tostada ham and cheese (cheddar, muenster, provolone) definitely something for ask for it won’t fail.

This is the most fun place to take your kids!!!! My kids, ages 4-10, had the absolute best time. Claw machines, DIY projects, and the absolute most fun ice cream phones. This was the highlight of their entire day in new york!!!

Google

Google
Really cute place to go with friends. The claw machines are hard but I like how there was one labeled as “easy” the bubble tea is really good and the matcha frappe tastes amazing. I wish they had hot drink options for when it’s cold since they leave the door opened. The staff is also very sweet

Google
Nice place, smaller than what I expected but very well designed. They have the cutest custom ice creams, photo booths & bubble tea. My kiddies enjoyed themselves. The have limited edition Dragon Ball Z, La BuBu’s & hello kitty ! staff were also really helpful & friendly .

Google
I had such a great time at this arcade cafe. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the games were super entertaining. A special shoutout to the cashier, who was incredibly nice and helpful the entire time, making the experience even better. Everything was clean, well-organized, and full of good vibes. I can’t wait to come back and spend another day here!

Google
returning here to Sweet cats Cafe! I brought my daughters here for birthday fun. The place is so cute to take pics for memorable moments and the staff only makes the experience BETTER. They are all so friendly and helpful! The deals are incredible and so worth it! This time we did the DIY. it’s less messy because they assist the kids. I will be returning again! My girls enjoyed it so much and so did my husband 😆 the claw machines are captivating and you ACTUALLY win things. I recommend this place for all ages.

Yelp
Super Cute shop. Lots of popular inventory. Got a pink monster labubu for $40 plus tax. The workers were courteous and helpful to sell the products. Limited street parking - i used lyft.

Yelp
So much fun for kids! We did the package with ice cream, 59 tokens and a craft for $60. Great value! Would come again!

Yelp
Super cute place! Would come here again and the drinks were good! prices are cheap too

Yelp
This place has the cutest claw machines and aesthetic, but their machines are pretty hard to win. The ice cream is really good and really cute. They design their ice cream like Sanrio characters! Adorable. I spent $50 and only won four plushies. I spent an extra $10 to try to win pikachu but the claw strength was just so weak. I tried to play most of the machines and they were mostly payout based and not skill based unfortunately. The plushies are very cute though I just wish it was easier to win. It's also cash only unless you want to pay extra, so that sucks.

Yelp
We spent a lot of money and didn't do it in the most efficient way, but had the best time with the kids. Note that based on how much you spend on tokens you can get free ice cream or double tokens -- something we totally failed to see. The staff was truly so kind. Even traded in a few prizes for something larger. Truly a fun activity on a rainy day!

Yelp
SOOOOO CUTE. I fell in love. I do like an arcade and this kawaii themed Tokyo inspired one was amazing. The iridescent pink stops you immediately as you walk by, it enthralls you. They have the cutest items and it's well worth a visit.

Yelp
I tried out the flushing one and this one. This one specializes in ice creams (the other is in different desserts), the variety of ice creams is super cute. I got a kirby strawberry ice cream and a bubble milk tea. The kirby ice cream was very good, good strawberry flavor and all of the pieces were made out of chocolate. I think it even had tiny pieces of strawberry in it. The bubble tea was ok. Overall: Will be back again.

Yelp
Decided to stop here while downtown because it looked so cute. The workers were friendly the boba drinks we tried were good. I really wanted my child to try one of the ice creams but she was more focused on the claw machines. I will say come with money because it is almost impossible to get a toy but they do give you option of buying it as well. However they do have a lot of cute photo opportunities and the kids had fun

Yelp
There's tons of claw machines and arcade games to win plushies. You can also buy cute ice cream cones as well. There's various places where you can take cute photos.

Yelp
My daughters love everything and anything hello kitty. Very cute! A couple of photo opts. We got 50 tokens and we got a free ice cream (value of &10) and a bobba tea. My daughters played and won two stuffed animals along with small prizes and food. The bathroom was very clean and the girls on the counter were very nice and explained everything. A bit pricey but will definitely come again

Yelp
Come here if you are okay with your 7-year-old begging for more coins until they win a stuffy "on their own" from one of the many claw machines. In the end we spent 20 bucks and the kiddo won a little stuffed llama. Could we have just bought the very same llama from Sweet cats for less money? Yes. Was it worth the extra few dollars to see the look of joy and satisfaction 1n her face when the llama was finally acquired? 100% yes. All in all, this is a fun way to pass an hour or so of your time. They have super cute character ice cream cones as well, to round out the experience. I felt like the staff could be a little kinder and helpful. We found the to be rather stand-offish and borderline rude, how difficult is it to show a 6-year-old where the garbage is rather than just unhelpfully waving and saying "over there"

Yelp
First time at this place and it looks cute and fun! They have good options for plushies and small crane games. They sell bubble tea and cute ice creams. When we went they didn't have tapioca which is fine, we got other things. My friends liked their drinks. I ordered the alien ice cream cuz it looked cute and had matcha/green tea ice cream. Well it didn't taste like it at all. It tasted almost watered down and bland so that was disappointing. The girls at the counter were nice and told us the deals of the night so that was helpful. Overall this place is cute and fun, I would just be hesitant about the ice cream flavors. Maybe I'll ask for a sample in the future.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Pretty new and it's a great way to spend a couple of hours depending on how much you want to spend. They have bubble tea with all kinds of flavors, themed ice cream and claw machines! There's a counter to your right when you walk in and that's were your order teas and ice creams. They also help with the claw machines if you need change or want to use a credit card. They have machines to dispense the tokens and if you use cash you can go straight to the machines. The more you spend, the more of a bonus you get. If you use your credit card, they give you cash at the counter, might the credit card fee applies. They have small baskets for the tokens which is a very nice touch. They also have small shopping carts for the prizes. They have all sizes for the claw machines. Small, mid and large prizes. You can also trade in what you win at the end for the bigger plushies. Awesome systems. The machines are a little pricey but well worth the fun! I didn't see it but I believe they have a small private party room downstairs as well. They also have a few spots set up in a few different places for pictures. The staff were super nice as well. Awesome place and I'll definitely be back

Yelp
This place is perfect for claw machine addicts (which is not me). Giving it the 4 stars because they have a cute photo booth in the back with props. Perfect place to take photos with your friends. I don't like the fact it's $10 for just one copy of the photos, I wish there were 2 copies. I do like the option to get the digital version. Just keep in mind you're gonna spend $20 or more if you want to take photos and have copies for you and your friends.

Yelp
This arcade is not just cute with fantastic photo opportunities. The ambience is truly adorable. it's also incredibly enjoyable with amazing ice cream options. While the staff may not be the friendliest, my children and I still had a fantastic time here.

Yelp
The ice cream was great although it is a bit expensive at $10, but the shape is cute. The service was great. We were lucky to get a pillow animal and the lady behind counter gave us a nice cover to carry it. The place has a lot of claw machine and it has many colorful lights and sound.

Yelp
Cute place if you need to kill time...and if you have the money to kill. Spent $40 on coins ($2 per play) and ended up with three plushies. Although one of the staffer was kind of enough to "reset" one of the stuffies for me so I could get a chance to get take home something, which I did after like 2 tries. Wish there were more varieties of prizes instead of stuffies. The place also serves bubble tea, ice cream and snacks. Ice cream is $10, which is "shaped" into cute characters, which is a bit pricey imo. But when you bring a child with you, expect to splurge.

Yelp
My friends and I came here to get the viral Sanrio themed icecreams. They were 10/10 aesthetically pleasing and 10/10 tasting wise. It only took about 10 minutes for them to make the sanrio character themed ice cream cones . They had a few different characters such as Kuromi, My Melody, Pochacco, Keroppi, Cinnamoroll and 2 different kinds of hello kitty's . I definetely recommend this spot for any sanrio lovers or if your looking for something fun to do in NYC. They also have an arcade full of kawaii plushies to try and win!

Yelp
Went to the claw machine arcade that sells icecream and boba tea. We got some ice cream which were 10$ each. A lil over priced but, your paying for the cuteness. They also sell blind boxes and cute trinkets. The cafe has lots of K-pop idol posters plastered around the store so if you're a fan you would love it. Overall, it's a fun spot. Can get a little crowded.

Yelp
Highly recommend coming here to have fun with friends. There are many chances to get prizes and they have great snack and refreshing drinks. The service is great if there is a problem with the machine they help clear things up for you. The setting is relaxing and welcoming.

Yelp
The mood as soon as you walk in is super fun and the ice creams are cute! They have so many amazing blind boxes + the staff was friendly.

Yelp
Such a fun place to take my daughter and friends on her birthday! We all had a great time.

Yelp
Because my 7 year old likes it, I am sure I will be back. However, if you can keep your 7 year old from knowing it exists you will be better off. This sums up the vibe, there is a wheel to spin to get tokens for the game. I was told all I needed to do was use the QR code and leave a 5 star google review. This is shady, but I did it anyway because I didn't want to spend more money than I already did on their overpriced food. The tokens are for the many claw games to try and win stuffed animals. Alas, because my review didn't include pictures (this was not told to me when I asked the first time), I was not given the soon for free tokens. This is about as lame as a place can be. Changing the rules on an essentially purchased review. The modern world gone terribly wrong.

Yelp
I made a special one day trip to the city just to play claw machines, and Sweet Cats Cafe did not disappoint!!! You get a fairly decent amount of coins for your money, which is always nice. I was able to win one small keychain and eight little stuffies that I could trade in for bigger prizes. Their trade in program is pretty awesome - 4 little stuffies got me one full sized pillow that's easily 3 feet long, and super soft and cushy. There are also three other sizes of larger prizes that you can trade in the smaller items for, number of items just depends on the size of the bigger item. The woman working the counter was incredibly nice and helpful, and we chatted for a bit about this location and their location in Flushing. Double bonus that the place is decked out in cats because the owner is a cat lover!!! (Hence the name. ) Hands down, would recommend this place to anyone looking for a claw machine in New York City, and I will definitely be going back!!!!!

Yelp
I visited shop on Sunday. Ordered a single (one) bubble tea, used my debit card and included $1.50 tip. Discovered today I was billed $27.00 plus change on order. Total rip off.

Yelp
This place was awesome! my kids had a great time and it definitely brought out the kid in me. The kids were able to win a few plushies and one of my daughters won an xtra large prize . I would definitely come back again!

Yelp
this was a cute place. i ended up just buying a pusheen figure for my room. one of those surprise ones. i'm not into claw machines anymore but i love the pink vibe and i took photos in front of some of the displays. nice staff too.

Yelp
This is the cutest little cafe, the ice cream was amazing! The drinks were very good. The service was quick. They have a large variety of different claw machines.

Annika S.

Yelp
My friend and I both love claw machines and boba, so Sweet Cats Cafe seemed like the perfect place for us. We did anticipate high prices, but assumed it would be worth it. When we arrived, the first thing I looked at was the claw machine pricing. I can't remember exactly how much each token costed, but, as expected, it wasn't cheap. There was a promotion where you'd get a few tokens (I think it was 5) if you made a purchase at the cafe, so I decided I'd buy a drink. The drink prices were actually very reasonable, and I purchased a decently-sized, tasty boba for $6. Then, with the tokens I got from the promotion, I tried out a few games. I've played so many claw machines that I'm pretty much an expert, so I did a visual evaluation of the ones at Sweet Cats Cafe. In each machine, the claws themselves looked small, weak, and flimsy, and probably unable to pick up the heavy plushy prizes. I found the two machines that looked easiest to win, and spent my tokens on them (those games costed 2 tokens each, but there were also more expensive ones elsewhere). As expected, it was basically impossible to win; one of the times I played, the claw grasped the plush entirely but was too weak to hold on. So my friend and I decided it would be useless to buy any additional tokens. Before we left, the blind box display caught my friend's eye. It was a Kuromi-themed blind box that she had been looking for. According to my friend, it was a better price than she had found elsewhere. There were also some figurines and other collectables for purchase. My experience at Sweet Cats Cafe was pretty mediocre. If you want to play claw machines with any intention of winning, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking to buy boba or find collectables or even just to take in the vibe, it's pretty nice.

Ty C.

Yelp
The place is definitely a photo opp! Ice cream combinations are interesting and tasty. But definitely overpriced for $9.99 for one scoop. You're almost compelled to just buy the stuffies rather than spending $20 trying to retrieve it with the carnival claw.

Ayse Y.

Yelp
We were really disappointed. My daughter who is 6 years old was super excited to see this place. During her spring break we came to NYC. We went to see the place. The decor is cute but the place is a total rip off. We spent 40$ and didn't win anything the stuff was not helpful at all. You had to chase them for them to answer a basic question. My daughter said the ice cream was ok. But I can get much better ice cream elsewhere. I think they need to adjust the arcade games so you get couple of chances before you lose your coins.
