"Celebrity: Nas This NYC-born chicken and waffles spot landed on Fairfax a few years ago, and not even Nas could help the restaurant pique the interest of local sneakerheads. And that's probably because while the fried chicken isn't horrible, it pales in comparison to homegrown spots like Dulan's, The Serving Spoon, and Roscoe's. None of the other Southern-leaning dishes, like cheddar hush puppies or mac and cheese, stand out much, either. There is some good news, though: the big Fairfax space is more of a bar than a restaurant anyway and a decent option for last-minute drinks with a group. "The much-hyped chicken and waffles joint from NYC is unfortunately a disappointment. None of the food particularly stands out, and when it comes to the fried chicken itself, it doesn’t hold a candle to the other great spots we already have in LA. Here’s the good news - the large space on Fairfax is great and far more of a bar than a restaurant anyways. Use it to grab a few midweek cocktails with friends or a nightcap after a great date at Jon & Vinny’s." - Brant Cox

"There was a bunch of useless hype around Sweet Chick when it first opened because it’s owned by the rapper Nas, but since then, this chicken and waffles spot has settled in to become one of the more affordable dinner options along Fairfax. The chicken and waffles are solid, the cocktails are excellent, and the large space is bright and casual and good for a quick dinner with your friend’s little sister who keeps asking how many acting classes are too many acting classes." - Brant Cox

Overall, this place was really good. It's a good size restaurant with a nice vibe. I loved the music. I didn't want to leave so I could listen to more. Service was great. We had the chicken wings, mac and cheese, blueberry muffin waffle, chicken and waffle, crispy fish sandwich with fries, 3 piece bone-in crispy chicken and the chiquilale (I probably spelled it wrong). It was a good selection of food. The chicken and waffle was probably the best. My son got it with the honey chipotle sauce. The chiquilale was really good too. The crispy fish sandwich was so fresh and a good size. My bone-in chicken was good. The pieces were really big. More for 2 people to share. I was disappointed in the Mac and cheese. It had no taste at all. The wings were underwhelming and very small for the price. In any case, I would definitely come back to try more dishes. The spicy honey butter biscuit sounds good.

I’ve been here 5-6 times. It’s a good place to eat after shopping in the area. In general food is really good, I love waffles and Mac&cheese, but half of the times chicken came overcooked and the portions size also vary. Not a bad experience, but they can do much better.

I had the Chicken with the Blueberry Muffin Waffles! It was absolutely delicious! The balance of sweet with fresh blueberries in the waffles and within the cinnamon muffin crumble with lemon glaze- was a delightful surprise! They even do special orders, my daughter had the Spicy Honey Chicken to accompany her chicken and waffles- woah! That spice was on point. It did not overpower the natural, subtly seasoned flavors in the fried chicken. This was a definite plus on our radar of good joints in LA! Definitely worth visiting again! #support! Returned today 1213/21 and the seasonal pumpkin pie waffles were amazing!! I could not finish my serving. They include fresh chunks of pumpkin pie pieces. The flavor is remarkable, it provides sufficient sweetness to the waffles so that you do not require syrup. I am not a pie eater, but this entrée was delicious!

If you’re new here: like us, take a moment to check out the specials written on the chalkboard easel. All the sides we tried here were amazing. Mac n cheese were shell noodles, the brussel spouts were delicious, hush puppies were cool, slaw was on point. The drinks were great too! They were able to create a 3 piece boneless chicken strips and waffle fries for the kiddo. I mightve ordered more if the person on register told me more about the dishes or asked what I liked. I told her it was our first time. Its definitely worth it.

If I could give a place 6 stars this would be it! There's so much to say about this establishment and I'll do my best giving it it's proper credit. In the age of masks and vaccinations, Sweet Chick made it very easy to avoid contact with their staff for safety concerns and I was grateful for this updated way of ordering. The way they do things here is by using a QR code to order, pay & tip all before receiving the food and all the host or server does is bring the food and beverages. There's no need for frequent contact with the server, and this made me feel safer even though I'm vaccinated, it was the thought of a collective safety that made this experience that much better. Now what I ordered was the Crispy Chicken Salad (LA) and a Ginger Ale beverage. The salad was well plated and presented very well. The clash of arugula with the fried chicken, acidity of the tomatoes and the cool ranch dressing far exceeded my expectations. I felt as though the salad occupied its own space in the salad archives. To top it all off the avocados were drizzled with a coarse salt that made them pop with flavor. I was a bit skeptical about ordering the salad at a place where the chicken sandwiches and waffles are among the more popular items but its safe to say I'll be ordering the Crispy Chicken Salad (LA) each time I visit Sweet Chick. Bravo!

Google
Everything we tried we really liked. The shrimp and grits was delicious. The honey garlic chicken was bomb!! We also tried the maple chipotle chicken and I just wish it was a spicier. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because you’re only allowed to order through QR code and the process was a bit annoying due to the glitches on some of the items on their website. But I’d eat there again in a heartbeat. Oh and yes the waffles have a light citrus taste @travelingWithAYD

Loved this chicken spot. The Honey Garlic chicken is something you can't get anywhere else and is delicious. Their Brussels sprouts were surprisingly some of the best we've had. It has been a trendy menu item for the past few years and we had been getting tired of them, but sweet chick did them right. Thought the jalapeno hush puppies could use a bit more flavor and the regular waffle had a hint of citrus in it, which wasn't my thing, but loved the bacon cheddar waffle. Would definitely go back.

Google
Vibe is cool. Table service is still not available. Waffles were fluffy and flavorful. Being from the south, their version of shrimp and grits wasn't my favorite, buy but it could just be the LA way? Chicken was juicy and seasoned well. The biscuits were ok, the bacon was the highlight. The lemonade was good too.

Nijole T.

Yelp
The chicken here is absolutely delicious! I loved my chicken sandwich as well as all of their sides. Online ordering was a breeze, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming as well. Prices are fair, the quality is good and the presentation is beautiful too. Highly recommended if you're looking for fried chicken in the area!

Yelp
My friend and I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was a late lunch so it wasn't busy at all and we got to choose a table to sit at. Food: I ordered a nashville vegetarian chicken sandwich with a side of crinkle cut fries. The chicken sandwich was very good, and the crinkle cut fries were crisp & delicious. My friend ordered chicken tenders and a side of mac & cheese. The chicken tenders were slathered in sauce, and my friend enjoyed them. I tried her mac & cheese and it was pretty good. Service: Our server was friendly and quick. It was a slow time so I think there were only two people working the front. Our server was quick to greet us and take our order. Our food came out promptly as well. TL;DR - delicious chicken place with vegetarian options!

Yelp
4.5 The decor of Sweet Chick is pretty basic. I was underwhelmed at the menu because there weren't a lot of options for a brunch spot. But then I realized that there were more options than I've seen anywhere. I got the chicken and waffles. For the chicken you could choose whole pieces or tenders. I've never seen an option before. You could even choose which pieces of chicken you wanted. And on top of that you could choose your flavor. Think WingStop or a Korean fried chicken spot type of options. Some options included Buffalo, Maple chipotle, Nashville hot, lemon pepper. You even got options of how to get your waffles including apple cinnamon, bacon cheddar, and chocolate chip. I ended up getting the Soy honey, garlic chicken and the special pumpkin pie waffle. The soy honey garlic chicken reminded me of Korean fried chicken. It was crispy and the flavor was bold with a touch of sweetness. It was amazing. The pumpkin pie waffle was amazing as well. You could tell that the butters and sauces were house made. That was definitely not something I was expecting. They give you Lemon honey butter and raspberry butter. They were amazing but didn't really go with go with the pumpkin pie waffle but tasted great. The consistency of the waffle was crisp on the outside and sort donut consistency once you pass the exterior. My be the best I've had. The House made blue cheese dressing that came with the buffalo chicken was bomb! The music playing sounded like it was the orginal R&B songs that were sampled in popular raps (E.G.footsteps in the dark by Isley brothers.) Not surprising since the rapper Nas is a part owner of the restaurant. It's a chain started in New York. This might be my new LA chicken and waffles go to spot. ...I said what I said.

Ayonnah T.

Yelp
Vegetarian perspective: i think that the vegetarian chicken is seitan and its SO crispy and good flavor! Waffles are super fluffy, and love the consistency because the sweet chick location in NY was amazing too. Pretty much everything on the menu has a vegetarian option so always a great place to eat at.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Ooof, I've never had Chicken and Waffles but let me tell you, I'm glad this place was my first try. The batter of the waffles were fluffed (which i like) and the chicken was crisp but also juicy on the inside! There were serving drinks, but nothing special. I'd be going for the food. There was also a DJ playing so it was cute to be with friends and jam out. You're in Melrose so cute lil shops are what's around you ( I noticed that a lot in LA lol). No one served us since everything is with technology now a days, but the food came out quick & warm!

Anna S.

Yelp
Yummy!! Super delicious chicken and waffles. I got the classic. Server was friendly and attentive. Came in for lunch on a weekday so not a lot of energy but I didn't mind, they were playing good music so I was overall happy and satisfied.

Rachel G.

Yelp
Great vibes, food, and service! A group of four of us were seated right away and our server was extremely friendly. The chicken is well seasoned, the fries were hot and crispy, and the waffles were perfectly buttery and sweet. We all enjoyed our food, especially the buffalo tenders with fries. Highly recommend for a casual lunch spot with a fun atmosphere!

Aneisha H.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been here which means it's time for a visit. I got the vegan chicken with sides that didn't disappoint. The vibe here is always a vibe no matter what time of day you go. The service feels like your family and close friends. The only thing is that it's a busy street so if you can use a ride service or try your luck with the parking. If they add valet this will sure be a gem I frequent more.

Sara K.

Yelp
Cute spot off Fairfax. The chicken sandwiches are crispy on the outside and pretty juicy on the inside. Good drink selection and cute bar area. Order on your phone and it's probably good for big groups.

Yelp
Pro-tip: park on the side street behind Fairfax. You're not gonna find a meter spot on Fairfax anyways during the day, so don't bother. A La carte, sweet chick is pricey, but is definitely a notch above all those other fast-food fried chick joints. Ordered crinkle-cut fries and a classic hot-Nashville chick sandwich. For 20$ without a drink , these are indeed inflation 2023 prices , but does the quality justify it? I'd submit mostly 'yes.' The Nashville chick sandwich is very basic. Most Nashville chick sandwiches have sauce spread in the buns , pickles, and some zesty slaw. This sandwich is topped only with a few pickles. Basic, but in-focus is the actual taste of the patty. The heat-factor spicy hot blend is perfectly blended into the outer layer buy it's palatable fried hide. It's crispy, yet juicy -- all at the same time. The patty has a structure of uniformity and symmetry, and no side of the chicken is grossly enlarged or disproportionate to its bun. It's spicy, but you can have fun for it, and yes it will since your taste buds, but the taste doesn't linger such that you have to consume large quantities of water and it becomes displeasurable. The Crinkle cut fries are okay. Wish they had some chipotle hot mayo for it, but whatever.

Robbin R.

Yelp
I love it here. The whole ambiance is a vibe! The music is always good, the staff smiling. Ive order for pick up and dined in a few times and I have never been disappointed. The cocktails are a bougie adult spin on some hood classics (hope it's okay I said that). Service is fairly quick, any pick up order has been ready within 15min. THE FOOD Classic Fried Chicken: always cooked to a crispy perfection. Don't sleep on the Nashville if you can handle a little spice. Chicken Sandwich: fire. And thank you for being bite size. Not so huge it's only good for Instagram post. You can actually eat and enjoy it. Mac and Cheese: pleasantly surprised. Doesn't look like I'd enjoy it, but I do every time. Don't let the Ritz cracker crumbs fool you. The Ritz is not an ordinary cracker and that buttery crispity crunch does something extraordinary. Biscuit: a solid biscuit. I prefer butter and honey over jam. Jerk Seasoned Fried Okra: uh...I they forgot the jerk seasoning. It was just friend okra, but battered and fried quite nicely. When I order agin, I'll be sure to ask for jerk seasoning and then I'll update y'all on the taste of it all.

Maya R.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick snack and had the Cinnamon donut waffles and they were FIRE!!! Ask for more strawberries on the side if you want the ratio to be a little more even. Other: - It's a very aesthetically pleasing spot so for my content creating people, go crazy - Noise level is at a low-medium. (great for a brunch w/the girls or a first or second date) - Street parking is available on Rosewood Avenue

H S.

Yelp
Always my first brunch when I come to NYC. You can feel your smaller arteries shutting down when you eat it, but chicken and waffles worth it !

Nia L.

Yelp
It pains me to give this score of a 3. I have been to Sweet Chick's multiple times; but of course this was prior to the pandemic. I am aware that things have changed and businesses have had to pivot as a result. So here's my review... Valet is going! It has been replaced by outdoor dining. This sucks because parking in the areas is awful. We just so happened to luck up on a spot "around the corner" There is a notice that you "seat yourself" order via QR code. Okay. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if the table we selected was already clean. The menu imo has been scaled down drastically, there was no fish as I preciously remembered or and "appetizers" only sides. No real "speciality" drinks. Lemonade, Tea, Koolaid with your pick or liquor. My biggest annoyance as having to pay for my food before even receiving it, then the tip was included starting with 18%. How you starting you tip at 18% when you're not even waiting on me? Both my friend and I ordered the Salted Caramel Chic n Waffles. She had the boneless and I had bone-in. It just wasn't the same as I remembered. It was "just okay" Water was put on our table in plastic cups and if we wanted more we had to "get up" and get it ourselves. I had to get my own water, yeah I was not happy about that. Unfortunately, I left unsatisfied. The music was good as usual; the watermelon drink I had was decent; but it was in a plastic bottle accompanied with a plastic cup of ice. I'm not sure if they plan on making more adjustments; but if so...please at least "serve your patrons"

Yelp
Even though the size of the shrimp in the Shrimp & Grits was reduced, the flavor is still incredible. I hope they are able to source the larger shrimp again soon. I travel to LA 4-5x per year, and I stop here every time.

Troy E.

Yelp
This place is doing the QR code ordering system on the table, which some people might call lazy, but I don't mind it. Everyone can order their meal individually and pay separately. Once you pay, the order is sent to the kitchen without you even talking to a human server. It's faster and more efficient in my opinion. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, but we came for a very late lunch. There is also outdoor seating, which is nice when the weather isn't too hot. I got a simple basic chicken sandwich and was moderately impressed. The chicken was juicy and soft, but it wasn't that much of an improvement over a fast-food sandwich. To be fair, it's hard to mess up fried chicken and you can't have too high expectations. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but you're paying for the nice atmosphere to eat slightly more upscale chicken. It's a great place to share a sit-down meal with friends and I would come back to this place for lunch.

Sharon B.

Yelp
The damn place is closed. Answering machine with hours is operable but the place must have closed a little while back. It would be nice if they updated their answering machine to inform people.

Christine K.

Yelp
I've been to Sweet Chick several times for brunch and it never disappoints. It's one of my favorite fried chicken spots. I recommend the Nashville hot fried chicken & waffles and the spicy honey butter biscuit. The cocktails are great too if you're looking for a boozy brunch.

Catherine L.

Yelp
I had a nice experience during my first visit to Sweet Chick. I was greeted promptly by the bar tender and let me know that I could sit anywhere I'd like. Then, my server greeted me and introduced herself to me. She let me know about their specials, but I really wanted to try the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. I asked for a Diet Coke and I really loved the cup they gave me. It really fit with the whole look of the restaurant. I give four stars, because after taking my order my server disappeared. My food was brought over by the same bartender, but I was not checked in on throughout the rest of my stay. Everything started out great, though, and I was the only one in the whole restaurant. I have no idea what happened, but the food was delicious! I especially loved the fries and ranch dressing. I think that next time I will order my food to-go.

Nate F.

Yelp
First off the playlist in here is jammin. From Slick Rick to Bobby Brown, the vibes are curated perfectly. The place feels nice and spacious. Mac and cheese a must order. Creamy, crunchy and the perfect amount of cheesiness. Chicken is juicy and flavorful. Waffles were nice and sweet and fluffy. Biscuits were ok. Overall the food was really good and lived up to the hype for me. It's a prime location and everyone knows about it. We came early on a Sunday afternoon so reservation not needed but I can see how it would be smart to get reservation. One thing to note: everything is pretty contactless, you order directly from your phone. The servers only come to your table for absolute necessity. We poured our own waters.

John D.

Yelp
This was the best place for chicken sandwiches and chicken & waffles. I'm sad this place closed.

Ryan R.

Yelp
When I first walked in I met Chef Chip who directed me towards the restrooms. At the time I didn't know he was the Chef as he was so approachable and polite. As a guy who has worked in the industry for almost two decades, this is not what I've come to expect. Later I realized that it wasn't a ruse, that Chip truly loves human beings and is quite the master of conversation himself. The food was great, in fact surprisingly so. Let's get it out of the way: the mac and cheese was rich and creamy with a ritz cracker crust. Also, the waffles were firm but fluffy, with a structure that I had not found at Roscoe's back in the day. But lets be honest: the chicken stole the show. I'm a boy from Oklahoma who grew up with some of his fondest memories of having fried chicken with my Nanny and Poppa, so I can hold foods like this to an unfair standard. And it passed. The breading was crisp, but yet light and not greasy. It also revealed a flavor of spices that many fried chicken spots seem to be hesitant to embrace. Did I mention the stories of Nas and the posters that showed in no uncertain fashion that Sweet Chick knew Hip Hop and Hip Hop absolutely loved Sweet Chick? I don't normally dine on Fairfax due to the crowd, but I will absolutely return to this wonderful place again and again as it's got a big place in my heart now.

Yelp
What a gem of a restaurant across from Supreme, on the iconic street of Melrose. I must have passed by Sweet Chick multiple times while I waited in the Supreme lines without realizing that I could have walked across the street to get an awesome meal. Parking is slightly chaotic during the day, but if you want a relaxing meal I advise dining here for a weekday dinner. I was able to park with no issues and the ambiance was very chill at night! Sweet Chick had amazing food and EVEN MORE impressive staff! The owner was so charismatic and welcoming. He shared with us the history about Sweet Chick and his relationship with Nas which really rounded out the meal today. He was truly happy about providing quality food for us today and making the experience a special one. His passion really showed through the food, as every dish was fantastic! Mac and Cheese - Rich and cheesy with a buttery Ritz crumble on top Chicken Sando - the biscuit was so flaky and warm, and the chicken was fried to perfection with a meaty, moist chicken breast inside. Waffles - Thick and fluffy with fruit and whipped cream on top. I always make sure to pour a generous amount of syrup in each square, and it does not disappoint! When visiting the restaurant, be sure to ask the staff about the inspiration and history of Sweet Chick. Especially if you're a Nas fan or love the music from the era, they have such great stories that they're happy to share!

Danya G.

Yelp
I have been here twice. The first time I ordered a blt sandwich with a side of brussels sprouts, delicious. The second time I ordered honey garlic chicken and waffles, also delicious. Parking is on the street and how challenging finding a spot is depends on how busy it is. Both times I dined in we're not busy. When you walk in, you pick a table to sit at. There is a QR code for each table and you order online. The food takes no longer than 15 minutes to be brought out. After that, a staff member checks on your table maybe once or twice. So not your usually dining experience. They also have bathrooms located in the back. It's also kind of dark inside and the music they play is a mix of different genres.

Delilah G.

Yelp
For months, my friend and I had talked about making plans to eat at Sweet Chick but it just never happened... The other day we were able to finally get our schedules to align and finally had our lunch date here! Sweet Chick was worth every penny as their plates are great sized portions and absolutely affordable. We loved it and we will be returning soon!

Tunmise O.

Yelp
Sweet Chick on Fairfax is amazing! That's not really even a great word to describe my experience there. I ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken with Apple and Cinnamon Waffles, along with a biscuit and their Daily Lemonade. Everything was on point! The waffles were very moist, yet had texture and shape to them and didn't get soggy after being drenched in syrup. It also came with two types of butter: creamy and berry butter balls. After lathering the sticky waffles with each butter, I dug in, and couldn't stop! Each bite flaunted consistency. Sweet and melty but not too sweet to the point of taking away from the buttery waffle base. Should have ordered two more waffles. But no regrets...because the Honey Garlic chicken was it! This chicken was sweet and savory. Taking bites of chicken with the waffle (and sneaking some biscuit pieces in there) had me looking like Alvin and the Chipmunks. I was busy, I was stuffing myself, and care did I not! Word of advice: bring two stomachs when you come here because once you leave, you'll always regret not eating more!

Kislev A.

Yelp
I know there's spicy chicken stands almost everywhere now. It doesn't diminish the fact that Sweet Chick is a solid meal. The line to order was short but still took some time. The wait to get your food is almost too long. Don't come hungry. Their Chicken is juicy, full of flavor, fully cooked, crispy on the outside, well-seasoned and is spicy. The Vanilla Pancake is AWESOME! The different sauces for this pancake is extra.

Kim L.

Yelp
Sweet Chick is a beloved neighborhood spot for us. We love the chicken, both real and vegetarian. (My boyfriend says it's the best vegetarian chicken he's ever had.) I usually get the sliders - it's a good portion size for me - and we also really like the sandwiches and sides, especially the Brussels and slaw. Chicken and waffles are on point too; I haven't had them in a while but want to try some of the flavor offerings. Our server last time was great as well - super friendly. He elevated the experience for our friend, who was visiting for the first time. Overall, a wonderful place!

E'Layjiah W.

Yelp
The food was amazing ! Perfect mix of flavors. I love visiting and I will always come back. Thank you for such a memorable and delicious brunch .

Katie S.

Yelp
I love this salad. It fills me up. This time they sent two ranches so I appreciated it. The chicken is juicy and they give a good amount. The taste of everything together is so good and the juice of the lemon tastes so good. For me it's worth the price. Good quantity.

Preston I.

Yelp
Sweet Chick LA has been on my list since I moved to the city. I went to the one in Brooklyn years ago and loved it. That one seemed to be more geared towards dinner, with multiple custom cocktails offered. This restaurant is perfect for breakfast/brunch. Everything I tried was good. Really enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Wish it came with a couple more shrimp, but the grits were creamy and the sauce was very rich. Honey butter chicken biscuit came with a good sized piece of fried chicken. I like honey so had to add more of my own to the biscuit to get it just how I wanted it. The honey garlic chicken tenders and the accompanying waffle were delicious as well. I ordered online, and my food was ready within 15-20 minutes. Street parking is available but limited. I will be back to try more of the menu soon.

Karlie S.

Yelp
More fried chicken! Yes, more fried chicken! It's a lil gem that's hidden in plain sight in the hip Melrose district. Parking can be tough during the day, but come during dinner time and there are plenty of meters around, with them ending at 8pm, so plan accordingly. We had amazing service by chef Chip and he was very accommodating and warm to our table, sharing tidbits about the restaurant and their philosophies. Foodwise, I liked the fried chicken, but the pancakes were amazing: - Mac N Cheese: Buttery topped with charred Ritz cracker bites - Blueberry Pancake: Nice and fluffy! - Chicken Sando: Good, with some moist pieces. The breading is great. - Cinnamon Pancake: Fluffy too, but just not my flavor profile. - Biscuits: These were amazing! I couldn't help but keep slathering the raspberry jelly on top.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday during brunch time. Parking was super hard to find for us. We sat outside and was greeted with cups of water. We had to scan a QR Code to order. They had really good music and it wasn't packed at all. Our food was a bit underwhelming. The chicken was crispy! ....But dry and fries were nice and crispy and shrimp and grits was okay, shrimp could've been fresh as well as the orange juice. The Garlic honey chicken reminded me of Korean fried chicken, it was flavorful but mehh. Nothing really caught my attention and it was just what it was. Chicken and waffles. Thank you for having us!

Kassie B.

Yelp
My Son & I shared Blueberry Waffle I had a glass of rose & he had Long Island tea. A mid-afternoon snack! Before heading back to San Antonio, TEXAS! Although the request was unique!!! Hahaa... we Thoroughly enjoyed our not only beautifully plated waffle but our cocktails were equally delightful! Can't wait to get back to Cali for a "True," sit down meal & more cocktails here!!

Yelp
Sweet Chick is amazing! One of my favorite fried chicken spots. Original chicken sandwich - large piece of juicy CRISPY chicken sticking out the sides of the super soft potato bun that was soooo dang good. Its softness was its pro as well as its con. I loved the softness of the bun but it got soggy and flat pretty quickly. This was a pretty simple sandwich with pickles, sauce, and chicken. I'd order this in a heartbeat. Biscuits - damn good! super warm and moist with excellent butter and jam.

Matt B.

Yelp
My wife and I first had Sweet Chick at Dodger stadium. We liked i, so we figured we'd give the actual restaurant a try. We went for lunch on a Friday. We're huge chicken tendie fans, so we got their chicken and fries with tendies. They were great - a nice seasoned flavor and a really fine batter. The ranch was great. The fries (crinkle cut) were great. Okay, we were three for three. We also love trying potato salad whenever it's available, so we grabbed a side of that as well. It was simple and delicious. Red potatoes, a drier consistency than many potato salads, and topped with fried onions. We really enjoyed it. Lastly, we're real sauce hounds, so we tried two additional sides of sauce. Their good good sauce was really good (not just a clever name). It had honey mustard vibes - very tasty. We also tried their remoulade, which was good, but not great. We ended up eating outside because the music inside was deafening, which was the only reason for the 4-star rather than 5-star review. Overall, a solid experience with great food.

Yelp
Everyday i learn something new and i didn't know this was NAS's spot but it makes sense. My friends have came few times and experienced in in different states it was my first time and I couldn't wait. Now I'm not always a chicken and waffle girl. I believe it can sometimes be overrated but I was VERY VERY wrong here. The menu is nice log and depending on what you want it can take you a while to figure it out. You scan QR code like most places and takes you to an online ordering system I got the Honey Garlic Tenders and waffles. Ooh it was so good the chicken the flavor it was all that and more. I got a strawberry lemonade really good. The vibes was nice the music playlist was cool as well. Real relaxed me and my friends sat ate and talked for what seemed like hours. Love it !

Yelp
11/15/2021 This is an outdoor dining event but I am the first one to take a seat inside. It's the long table near the bar with everything served family style. Everything came out piping hot and it was delicious. It could be the company that I am sharing the food with as I made new friends. We even joked with Jon about sharing the newly arrived dishes. When Chef Chip talked to us, he addressed the group outside then came inside. He did confirm Nas is an investor but I am very much liking the fact Chef Chip and his business sense is what I want to see all restaurants to follow. It's not just ethical but it's what you should do to have patrons like Nas come back again and again. After tasting all the food, I can see why many celebrities are true fans. The only complaint I would have is why did I get full so fast and why the food stop coming around. Thank you to the one and only LA East CM, Margaret, for setting this up for us. Now I can bring my friends in to try wonderful food grandma use to make kind of recipes.

Yelp
Love this place esp when I'm in need of a good chicken vegan spot - Decent price to be vegan and LA of course so get ready to pay for every single condiment - I would eat there and eat inside so the food doesn't get cold quick

Yelp
Foods great, the chicken is amazing. BEWARE the Nashville hot chicken though that shi HURT ME. But it was also so tasty. Service was lovely and they have great people working there. Ambiance is... authentic for the area. You definitely get the full Fairfax vibe.

Yelp
Great local spot for fried chicken! Came here on a Thursday evening during peak dinner time and was pleasantly surprised there was no wait to order to sit down. They have about 6 tables inside right now and customers are free to sit indoors after ordering at the counter. I got the OG Chicken Sandwich, my friend got the Nashville Chicken+Waffles, and we split a side of Mac & Cheese. Everything was super good and I can't believe I've lived here for so many years and haven't been here yet! They also supply a great variety of sauces and butters/jams when you get a waffle and I would recommend that. Parking can be tricky since it's metered street parking but it's worth it!

Yelp
The lemon pepper chicken wings are everything! Not a huge fan of the pancakes, I go for the waffle if you are torn. The mixed drinks are nice too! Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
I took my son and his friends shopping in LA and decided to try this place! We were immediately greeted warmly and seated by George. There was a lot of options for the kids to choose from. The service/food was excellent. George also gave us advice on places to shop and options to check out within walking distance. I highly recommend! It's clean and very laid back. Loved the food, service, music and vibe! Great way to start off our Sunday!

Yelp
The Sweet Chick has some of the best biscuits I've ever had! Not only are their biscuits bomb, but their chicken, sides, and the whole sha-bang are what makes them fit for a delicious fried chicken biscuit shop to visit when on Melrose. They are located right in hustle and bustle of it all! Close to all the fashion icons like Supreme and more on this street. The best part about this place is that everything is extremely reasonably priced, especially for being in this neighborhood! P.S. rumor has it that this place is also co-owned by the rapper Nas -- pretty cool!

Yelp
I wanted to give Sweet Chick another try since my last visit post-pandemic when the service has gone way down. Not much has changed. It's so impersonal to have to seat yourself, scan a QR code to order, then wait for an eternity for someone to bring your food. I ordered the classic chicken and waffles but was unable to select the pieces of chicken I wanted and the menu has no description of the pieces you get with the order. Good luck getting someone's attention to ask a question. What's worse, you have to pay ahead and provide a tip, if you choose to give one, before you get your food. I understand paying ahead of time, but the tip should come afterwards. The chicken was hot when it finally came, but not as flavorful as it used to be. The waffles, unfortunately, were cold.

Yelp
Located in Melrose District is this unique chicken spot. Came here on a Friday early afternoon so it was not crowded at all. Was actually surprised at how crowded it wasn't because Melrose District is an extremely busy area. This place is know for their variety of waffles and and other popular brunch items, owned by NAS and has NYC locations. I ended getting the blueberry muffin waffles with vanilla glaze and chicken with a side of hash browns shaped in triangular form with a slightly spicy aioli. The food was really good, that waffle wasn't crunch and fluffy and chicken seasoned! Their drinks also amazing!! I got the "Tiger, Tiger Woods Y'all" and honestly most of their drinks were reasonably priced for LA. This place has a nice R&B playlist going and you primarily order with their QR codes on the table. Definitely checkout when in the area!

Yelp
The food is very savory and the taste is amazing. If you want Chicken and Waffles, go here instead of Roscoe's.

Yelp
Fried chicken spot with boneless and bone-in options. Came here with a friend on a Tuesday night around 7:30pm. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. They do serve alcohol. Delivery/takeout is also available. There's no table service but you can scan the QR code at the table or order at the bar. Metered street parking. Credit cards are accepted. The employee who helped us was really nice and even went out of his way to get the appropriate container for our leftover mac & cheese so that it wouldn't leak in our leftovers box. The boneless chicken was incredibly crispy and we got the original style, which came with a side of ranch and ketchup. The fries are crinkle-cut style and were nicely seasoned. The spicy chicken honey biscuit wasn't sweet or particularly spicy, but the texture was on point. The mac & cheese came with little crunchies on top and it was quite hearty even as a side dish. It's a nice spot to grab some fried chicken in cool digs.
