Where to Eat on Old South Pearl Street | Eater Denver

"The sixth location of this Louisville concept inspired by a 1950s soda shop, the Pearl Street Sweet Cow serves up scoops, shakes, sundaes, and floats. Flavors rotate, but possibilities include Dutch chocolate and rocky road, as well as seasonal favorites like pumpkin pie and sweet corn." - Gigi Sukin

Google
Best ice cream, adorable location, great for kids and adults of all ages. The service was exceptional and everyone we came in contact with was nice. You can sample what. ever you think you might want then make your selection. Several sizes from kids size to 1/2 gallon. You got to try it was fun and ice cream was great. Thanks to Bridget for a great visit. Grandkids what to go back tomorrow.

Google
This is our favorite ice cream shop in denver! It sits in a really cute neighborhood with lots of cute shops. Ice cream flavors are unique and delicious! The raspberry chocolate chip is my favorite and I hope they never get rid of it!

Google
This shop has won the loyalty of my boyfriend and i. The first time i visited i had just moved to the neighborhood and they let me have the first pint on the house. Immediately so impressed by the customer service. Just last night i ordered the captain crunch and when i got home i realized there was no cereal in it. I went back today and they gave me a pint of it on the house. Having come from managing restaurants for years, the service is amazing, product is top tier and i will be loyal as long as i live here. Props to the staff! An establishment is only as good as their problem solving and its top tier.

Warning: rapid weight gain possible due to overconsumption of Denver’s best ice cream. The Sweet Cow has an excellent variety of flavors. My personal favorite is butter pecan on a sugar cone. The team is always super engaging and their process keeps the line moving efficiently. The location on Pearl has a decent amount of seating outside. We like to grab a bench and watch the sunset while enjoying our dairy delights!

Google
Nice little shop, great fast service and delicious ice cream. Recommend Peanut Butter Brownie on the pretzel cone. 🤌

They were so nice when my boyfriend ended up not liking what he ordered. They made us feel comfortable and welcome! Will be back again :)

Google
Delicious ice cream, great variety of flavors, incredibly reasonably priced. $2.75 for a kids cone rivals McDonald's for price and is way better quality by far. We got ice cream for our family of 5 for less than $20.

Google
The friendliest ice cream parlor in Denver. People here are so hospitable and kind! The ice cream is fantastic. Unique flavors and the ice cream cookies are delicious!

Yelp
Love this cute little spot on South Pearl St! Their ice cream is rich and flavorful, and the service is always so friendly. I love that Sweet Cow is relatively close to my house (any closer and it would be a dangerous habit). Highly recommend!

Yelp
Every sweet cow location I have been to has not yet disappointed me. We got lucky and found parking right away nearby Sweet Cow. It's a small ice cream shop and they offer seating at a bar style indoors and they have several benches for outdoor seating. The ice cream is really creamy and delicious. On this day, I ordered a lavender honey and an almond double scoop. You get your moneys worth of ice cream. It's is very smooth with each lick. It's not overly sweet so just right.

Yelp
Generally spectacular ice cream. They just arbitrarily decided to phase out their best flavor, malted milk, under the auspices that "we must rotate." I ordered a milk shake tonight and it was so over-mixed that zero ice cream remained. The staffer created a $9 glass of milk with chocolate flakes floating around. I just wanted to run into the kitchen and turn off the blender. So frustrating.

Yelp
The staff here is always super friendly! I love that they wear their Sweet Cow stickers with their names written on them as name badges! The menu has standard flavors but there are some seasonal flavors. I saw the sign for coming soon flavor - Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie! I have to come back and try that flavor. My favorite Girl Scout cookie in ice cream?!! AMAZING! Today, I enjoyed my favorite flavor, mint chocolate chip. I do like that it was the "natural" color - no artificial green color. Single scoop serving on a cake cone was the perfect amount. Anything bigger would be a lot. They have a variety of cones to choose from. One cone that stands out to me in the pretzel cone. The pretzel cone is perfect for someone who wants "salty and sweet". I will always return here when I am in the area. I cannot say no to ice cream and a free Sweet Cow sticker every visit!

Yelp
Oh Sweet Cow. You never cease to amaze me. Every location I've been to has been just perfect. I always find a flavor I want to try or get really excited about ordering! There is such a great selection! Each flavor is always creamy, perfectly sweet, and the waffle cones are always bomb. Most recently, I loved the raspberry chocolate chip and coconut cream pie. I love walking in or past Sweet Cow because it smells so freaking good. The staff is always so friendly and patient! FYI the parking at this location is street parking only!

Yelp
Thank you to the kind and generous team at Sweet Cow for hooking up my cat with a tiny scoop of her favorite ice cream! She adores y'all and so do I!

Yelp
I wish they didn't use corn syrup so heavily in their recipes. But otherwise is awesome ice cream. Also I saw monks there once, so there's that.
google avatar

Yelp
The cutest little ice cream shop with so many flavor options to choose from!! They offer a tiny cup that is the perfect size if you just want a small treat. Friendly staff and great service.
google avatar

Yelp
There was a line, however it moved quickly. I had the mint ice cream and it tasted great.

Yelp
Just bought the yummiest ice cream cake from this place on Friday. I had to change my online order last minute and I called and they accommodated no problem and we're so friendly. The girl even threw an extra birthday message on it for me. We have some more birthdays coming up and I cannot wait to order another cake from them again. Great service and quality.
google avatar

Yelp
Yumminess and creaminess perfection! I simply love the coffee, strawberry, and chocolate flavors!!

Yelp
I wish their vegan ice cream was better... I had the peanut butter oreo and it was so chalky. I couldn't eat much of it. Luckily got the tiny size. I would probably stay away from other vegan "creamy" flavors as a result. There are better vegan creamy ice creams out there. The blackberry lemon sorbet is redeeming, but it's pretty difficult to mess up sorbet. The flavor was good, not too sweet with a nice tartness. I got a pint of this. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. Staff is nice. No where to sit. Usually street parking available out front. Love that they're open late - that's a plus. If they step up their vegan ice cream game, make it creamy, smooth, and less "this feels and tastes like fake ice cream" flavored, they'd do very well with the vegan crowd.

Yelp
This is an amazing ice cream parlor. They have a unique and great selection of ice cream. The ice cream flavors are amazing. I recommend the Moo Sundae, on this sundae you choose your types of ice cream and toppings, the flavor and portion size of the sundae is amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful, if you like ice cream you will love Sweet Cow.

Yelp
I own my own ice cream shop and love my own ice cream -But will say I just had sweet cow and loved the flavors I just had too!!! Strawberry and mint cookies and cream!!!!! Glad I came to try and all employees were super sweet!

Josh H.

Yelp
Great ice cream! The service was fast and effective. It's a little small so don't plan on bringing a big group in the winter and sitting inside. Overall some of the best ice cream I've had!

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite ice cream stores that I've ever been to. They have a really nice consistency with their ice creams and typically have really good flavors. Although it's always a toss up between Sweet Cow and Little Man, it all just comes down to preference. My favorite flavors that they've had are: Malted Milk Ball (Aka ice cream version of a whopper), Cookies and Cream (The ice cream itself actually tastes like oreo cookie) and Amaretto. I have no shame in saying i've got a pint of each of these flavors at all times.

Susan M.

Yelp
Great ice cream and they are very nice. Took my grandkids while visiting. Pearl street is great area to walk and eat ice cream

Todd B.

Yelp
Foods ok, customer service sucks toenails, sweet cow driver cut in front of me leaving me slamming on my breaks and spilling the 7/11 slurpy I just walked out with not even 2 minutes before I lost it all over the dash. Now my dash is sticky and I have to go on my date smelling like a mixture of coke, pomegranate and pina colada. Thanks dicks.

Yelp
Because I've had more good experiences than not, on average this place is still great, but my experience last night was one of the worst experiences I've had at any place in months!! 1) service was extremely slow and rude. Took over 10 minutes to scoop two single serve cones with literally no one else there. Also, the servers could not be more rude when we asked what each of their flavors was (I'm sorry, but how am I supposed to know what "ET Phone Home" or "Trick or Treat" is?!?!) 2) I've never been more appalled with the extremely small scoops. For $4+ for a single serving, I expected more than two measly half scoops. This is not right and a complete rip off. For reference, this was about a third of what you normally get. No clue why but both were DRASTICALLY small. I understand Covid has hit everyone hard, but this is just unacceptable and wish management would make it right considering we have been such loyal customers over the years. Sad to say, this might have ended our Sweet Cow loyalty.

Lexi T.

Yelp
the icecream is amazing but sat in and heard what seemed to be the manager/owner yell at and belittle a clearly new employee for asking normal appropriate questions about how to do her job. highly would recommend better management and not treating employees this way especially in front of paying customers trying to enjoy an icecream "sweet" not so much!

Yelp
Where do I dream of going for fresh oatmeal cookie ice cream? This place of course!!!! When I am in the wash park area, and I have room for dessert, I will always stop by Sweet Cow for some oatmeal cookie ice cream. Though oatmeal cookie is my go to I am often tempted to try the other flavors because they are unique and yummy, so a tip of mine is - get a double or triple so you can try more than one flavor. And of course you can always take some home in a pint!

Natalie B.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! Fun vibes, everyone who works there is so kind. I like how they change up the ice cream flavors

Yelp
Sweet cow was an amazing ice cream experience! The servers were very friendly and approachable and offered samples of the ice cream numerous times. Parking at the restaurant was easy and it was definitely a popular location for ice cream in the area. There was a lot of seating and benches outside the restaurant which was a nice touch. Single scoop with chocolate peanut butter pretzel: 4/5. The flavors in this ice cream delivered. I think it was definitely a lot sweeter for my palate than other flavors but everything mixed well with each other. The saltiness of the pretzel was not overwhelming and added an additional level of flavor I enjoyed. There was a lot of peanut butter so if you enjoy that then this is your flavor for sure! Single scoop with banana Oreo: 5/5. This was my favorite of the two flavors. I enjoyed the way the banana tasted because sometimes it can be too artificial but this had a nice natural flavor to it. Paired with the Oreo, it was a delicious bite and I enjoyed the crunch I got from the cookie! Overall, this was a great place to get ice cream if you're in the area, I would recommend trying flavors as samples so you're happy with your flavor that you ultimately decide one! They also have very cool options if you enjoy getting your ice cream in a cone!

Yelp
Cute shop, good service, and delicious ice cream!! Enjoyed stopping in and trying their ice cream!

Rachel W.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We have always loved the ice cream here and on my partners birthday we went in. Tristian was working at hooked us up with the birthday celebrations! Tristian made two delicious milkshakes and is the bomb.com! So glad we live walking distance from here!

Yelp
Don't want to wait in line, put your order in online and it will be waiting for you when you get there. Great ice cream and great flavor choices!

Yelp
113th/2018 Awesome flavors and..yes they do taste good. Great neighborhood place to meet up and chat while slurping down or as alternative to dessert after the Park Burger next door or nearby restaurants. Tried their salted caramel and matcha green tea. 2nd scoop was just little more and thought it was great idea to get two scoops and share. To my disappointed sweet tooth, 1st scoop appeared to be normal but 2nd scoop.... nope. Lot less. I said have gotten on a cone instead of cup. Maybe it will force the 2nd to he similar on size? Or should asked the my primary flavor to be the 1st scoop and 2nd to be.... Good rich flavor, nice hefty price for the portion size. Tried and moving on to Bonnie.

Yelp
The place is the place for ice cream. They have consistently the best ice cream I've ever had and the rotation and overall selection is what keeps me coming back. Aside from the ice cream the staff is always super helpful and happy. Brad is a great person who seems to always go up and beyond to make your experience great. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Wonderful ice cream in an awesome walkable neighborhood. If there is a line, it's worth the wait! I'm impressed by their COVID precautions and how seriously everything is taken. My only concern is that all orders are now being packaged to go, even if you are standing there waiting. So the amount of single use plastic is unnecessary. If you want an ice cream cone. They will put the ice cream in its own cup with plastic top and the cone in its own cup with plastic top, as well as a plastic spoon to assemble it yourself. I hope they can find a happy medium between smart and safe.
google avatar

Rachael M.

Yelp
I wish they had more vegan flavors! I appreciate that they have 2 rotating flavors but it would be awesome if they could provide more. I have come here twice for the peanut butter Oreo, but have also not come other times because the only options didn't appeal to me. The vegan PB Oreo is amazing though - please continue to provide it and increase the plant-based options so everyone can enjoy them!

Yelp
What a sweet treat! Sweet Cow is a little off my beaten path. Well, I'm still creating my own path around here, but it's basically set in the middle of an adorable residential neighborhood along with a few other businesses I need to check out soon. They are setup for social distancing and while I was there you didn't even step foot inside the business. The plus was that I still felt like I got a pretty full Sweet Cow experience. We tried a few scoops and a root beer float. There are so many more flavors I was to try like the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the oatmeal cookie. Next time for sure! Everything was packaged up beautifully to go and we sat on the steps of a closed (for the day) nearby business while we enjoyed our ice cream. The ice cream was so creamy. The chocolate peanut butter madness left me wanting more peanut butter flavor, but it wasn't bad. Just more chocolatey than peanut buttery.

Yelp
Summary: 5 out of 5!! Great local ice cream chain in a hip and laid back neighborhood. Always a friendly staff!!! ***************************************************************************** Made in small batches daily and using local Colorado ingredients, Sweet Cow's ice cream will be a treat for your taste buds!! This location on South Pearl is one of six through out the Denver metro area. The staff is always upbeat and friendly (and during Covid-19 they made sure all their customers were safe) and the place is always clean. Flavors change weekly so be sure to check the web site if you would like to know what flavors they are serving up, or, take advantage of the staff's offer to sample their many flavors. I would recommend their Ozo Coffee, Dutch Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, Strawberry, and Hammond's Peppermint Stick. Pro Tips: They usually will have 2 vegan flavors to offer a day. If you have allergies, inform the staff and they will do everything possible to accommodate! The place is very much a part of the neighborhood. And pre - social distancing, it is not uncommon to see a long line out the door. Be patient, yet the line moves fast.

Yelp
I have a soft spot for milkshakes. I was craving one this particular afternoon and found this place. When I arrived there was a line (good sign of a great spot!); I ordered a OZO coffee milkshake, but they had plenty of options. OZO is a local coffee around these areas. The place was packed, so sitting inside with my milkshake was not an option, so I took a walk down the street to enjoy it. It was definitely tasty. The shop is situated in a small area with local shops in the street side. Just along a fairly residential street. Parking was challenging, but available along the road.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream and worth going out of your way to enjoy your wide variety and yummy product! It's a small establishment but there is a counter tables customer service folks. Whether it's close to your neighborhood or some distance from where you live, since ice cream shop exploring. As with everything these days, it's a little pricey but the quality was worth the cost.
google avatar

Christa R.

Yelp
Cakes are 4/5! SO easy to walk in and grab a prepared one. They even write on it for FREE. We got the cookie dough one. There is a layer of frozen white cake and then a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, covered in the best frosting. Frozen white cake layer wasn't my favorite but still a great cake for a great price.
google avatar

Cynthia Lissette C.

Yelp
Super Creamy icecream, try their Dutch chocolate you will fall head over heels if you're a chocolate lover. I got here right before a night rush. The lines can get pretty long but it's worth it especially when it's a warm day.
google avatar

Gabriel M.

Yelp
This Sweet Cow location is always great and busy. So many choices and the flavors are always good. The only complaint, and the reason for only 4 stars, is as a result of our Uber orders. On 3 successive occasions either Sweet Cow has forgotten, or the Uber delivery driver ate (more likely), my ice cream sandwich and we had to get a partial refund.
google avatar

Dalina H.

Yelp
By ear, this is indeed the best ice cream place in town, with its pretty turquoise painted walls and natural lighting promising in from the windows, making this welcoming dessert joint that much more captivating. Half of the menu is default, and the other half changes time to time. Surely great flavor selections made on site with real cream and sugar. What a fabulous experience at a fabulous spot with generous portions. When in Denver, outright the best tasting homemade ice cream to indulge when screaming for ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow for the Cow! This little place is udderly saw-wheat!! This S Cow has it all. From their consistent flavors to rotating flavors they manage to keep the new vibe going. In fact, I wish some of the flavors would never leave--I'm still waiting for the Big Lebowski flavor to reappear. When ordering I often waffle between a cup or a cone, but both are good. Now for the scoop on the employees, I dig'em! They hustle, smile, thank you, and keep the place looking clean! Last night it was sprinkling and a worker was drying the outside seats with a hand towel! Amoozing! For last night's order I mixed mint chip with Bailey's Irish in a waffle and danced like a leprechaun all the way home! I'm sure my dog thinks I'm nuts. Speaking of dogs, I think they usually have water and a treats for dogs but didn't see them last night. It didn't matter too much since my dog was happy sniffing pals, watching people, and praying for drops from the bottom of my cone!! So moove over competition the cow is here to wow!
google avatar

Yasi F.

Yelp
The Cookie Butter flavor and the Coffee flavor are so good! The mango sorbet is also 5/5!

Yelp
Good ice cream, interesting flavors! Good place for ice cream, but lacked organization. Multiple people asked us if we'd been helped and people swapped tasks. It was a bunch of teenagers working, so I get it. Both my boyfriend and I opted to get shakes. He had a big cookie dough shake and I had the not so big earl grey cookie shake. Not we're excellent, especially the ear grey cookie. It was such a unique floral taste, the bergamot really shines through. I wished they sold this flavor inside stores. Overall, it was a cute little place. FYI, whipped cream is an extra 65 cents, but so worth it. It's the real stuff from a canister.
google avatar

Morgan S.

Yelp
This is my first time at Sweet Cow and let me tell you, the name does not disappoint! I got a double scoop of Orange Creamsicle in a cup! Very delicious I also tried a sample of their Orange Sorbet and I'm thinking I'll have to get that next time!!
google avatar

Rumesh V.

Yelp
This is one of the most famous ice cream places in the Washington park area. We were here after our dinner. The line was way too long but it moved pretty fast. They have plenty of flavors to choose from. Individual scoops are a bit expensive. So while I was in the line waiting to order I compared the prices and finally decided to order the sundae. Definitely worth it as it comes with two big scoops of any flavor of ice cream and all kinds of toppings for just $5.30. I had a scoop of cookies & cream and roasted coconut with M&M's. Perfect end to our dinner on a nice warm evening.
google avatar

Maggie S.

Yelp
Never had a flavor here I didn't like! Oatmeal Cookie is a fave. The line moves fast too.

Tracy P.

Yelp
Everyone should go here. Got an chocolate oreo milkshake and the guy fresh whipped the cream right in front of us. Great sense of urgency and felt overwhelmingly appreciated. Saw a girl eating on the job but who could blame her.
google avatar

Raelyn S.

Yelp
We waited in line in the rain Saturday evening for ice cream from here and it was so worth it! We ordered the chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and ice cream cookie sandwich with cookie dough ice cream. The cookies were freshly baked and huge! We will be back.

Yelp
Who doesn't love ice cream!??!! If you're one of those people, please don't read this review! jk So this place is located on south pearl area. Simple place where you walk up, taste some different flavors and place your order. Not many seats available so more of a order and walk around the neighborhood type of place. Ordered the Fluffernutter and OZO coffee on a waffle cone. Fluffernutter was awesome. Light and creamy with tasty peanut butter. OZO coffee pretty good, full of coffee flavor. Waffle cone was just ok. Overall, a good place to grab some ice cream.... probably wouldn't go out of my way to go there though.
google avatar

Grecia P.

Yelp
Popped in for some ice cream on a nice Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, there wasn't a line when we got there and had time to decide. Weird thing is that they don't have the tubs out in front like other shops, so I didn't feel like I could ask if I could try flavors. If you've read my previous reviews, you probably know I'm not the biggest fan of ice cream. The sweet thing about Sweet Cow (pun intended) is that they have yummy sugar cones, as well as "tiny" sized ice cream. This golf-ball sized serving was perfect for me! The coffee flavor tasted exactly how it sounds. My cousin got the cookies and cream in a cup, which also looked and tasted exactly what it sounds like.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Waited 15 mins for a pint of ice cream and there was only 2 other people in the store. Nope.
google avatar

Steven W.

Yelp
If you want great ice cream then this is the place for you!! It's really good and have always been happy with my choices. Friendly staff who are on point, you can try out the flavours before you make your final decision and you won't be disappointed. I had the Bananas Foster, Snickers and Big G's cookies and dream. Amazing! For $4.75 for 3 BIG scoops, you really do get a lot of bang for your buck! They have a bit of bar stool seating and if you want to grab some to go then they have a freezer with some delicacies for you. Check it out for yourself and you wont be disappointed.
