I finally stopped by this bakery in Montrose and I’m so glad I did! First off, they have their own parking lot with a decent number of spots — which makes it super convenient if you’re just popping in for a quick coffee and pastry. The location is great too. It’s slightly tucked away from the main strip, but still an easy and pleasant walk if you’re spending the day in town. If I worked nearby, I could easily see myself walking over every morning for one of their perfectly crafted croissants and a latte. The space is clean, airy, and inviting — perfect for a quick stop or a relaxed morning treat. The service was also wonderful! I chatted with the staff for a bit and they were so friendly and personable — you can tell they really care about what they do. It definitely adds to the charm of the place. I’m not much of a pastry person, but their selection impressed me (and apparently, it doubles on weekends!). Everything is made fresh in-house, and you can really taste the difference. I found myself mesmerized by all the beautiful croissants — something about that flaky, golden dough just pulls you in. My latte was smooth and delicious, too. Overall, this is a must-visit when you’re in Montrose. Grab a pastry, sip your coffee, chat with the friendly staff, and make a day out of exploring this adorable town.

4.6/5 ### Pure Pastry Bliss at Sweet Demi Lune Bakery: The Peach Danish That Stole My Heart! (AIR FRIED is 4.8/5) Tucked away in the sunny Montrose neighborhood of Glendale at 3600 Ocean View Blvd, Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Cafe is the kind of hidden gem that makes you question why you ever settled for anything less than French-inspired perfection. This family-owned haven, run by a passionate husband-and-wife duo, radiates warmth from the moment you step through the door – think sparkling clean counters, a cozy modern vibe, and an outdoor porch begging for lazy afternoons with foothill views. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (and Sundays till 3 p.m.), it's the ideal pit stop for locals or anyone wandering Glendale's charming streets. The air? Thick with the symphony of buttery croissants, fresh-brewed coffee, and that unmistakable allure of high-quality ingredients baked fresh daily. Vegetarian and vegan options abound, ensuring no one leaves disappointed. But let's cut to the chase: the **peach Danish** here is nothing short of a revelation, earning a solid 4.6/5 in my book – and that's being generous with the stars. Flaky layers of laminated dough cradle ripe, juicy peaches that burst with summer sweetness, all glazed in a subtle almond cream that ties it together like a love letter to patisserie tradition. It's not overly sweet (thank goodness!), letting the fruit's natural tang shine through each golden, shatteringly crisp bite. The texture? Divine – that perfect contrast of tender fruit against the airy, butter-laced pastry that melts on your tongue. I devoured mine with a steaming latte, and it transported me straight to a Parisian sidewalk café, minus the jet lag. At around $5, it's a steal for this level of artistry. That said, if they experimented with an air-fried twist – crisping it up for extra caramelized edges without the heaviness – oh man, it'd skyrocket to a flawless 4.8/5. Imagine those peaches caramelizing just a touch more, the dough achieving god-tier crunch... it's the kind of innovation that would make this already stellar spot legendary. But even without it, this Danish is a must-order, especially alongside their Kouign-Amann croissants or fruit tarts that have Yelp raving (124 reviews and counting!). The staff? Attentive angels who'll guide you through the display case like old friends, recommending pairings that hit every time. Prices are fair – no chain-shop gouging here – and the portions generous enough to share (or not). In a city bursting with coffee spots, Sweet Demi Lune stands tall as Glendale's bakery soul: authentic, inventive, and utterly addictive. I've already plotted my return for that potential air-fried upgrade and a dozen more Danishes to hoard. If you're in the area, detour now – your taste buds deserve this joy. Five stars for the experience; the peach Danish alone is worth the pilgrimage!

Google
Pretty rad place. The ham and egg sandwich (omelet) was bussin bussin! And the coffee is always great. Their pastries are gorgeous and to die for. The establishment is super clean and everything seems to be brand new. Love going here before hitting the farmers market. 10 out of 10!

Google
Sweet Demi Lune is the perfect small business to patronize, not only because the pastries and coffee are fantastic, but the owners are kind people that delivers impeccable service. I visit every weekend for my pastry and coffee fix so I’ve tried everything. You can tell they use quality ingredients made with lots of love. My personal favorite are their kouign amann, coconut croissants, fruit tarts….who am I kidding, you can’t go wrong with any of their baked items. Definitely a must try if you crave something with the perfect balance of flavor and sweetness.

Google
Delicious!!!!! All in house, quality ingredients, and no short cuts. The process and pride in the baking shows up in the food. The pasties are high quality, and very tasty. They use whole food ingredients; no extracts or artificial flavors. The staff is amazing, and makes you feel like part of the family. We grabbed a couple pasties, and sat in their lovely (kid and dog friendly) porch. Amazing views!! The owner came out a few minutes after we finished to ask how everything was, which pastry we enjoyed most, and catch up generally. We had a lovely conversation, and really loved our experience. We will be back each week!! We love it. Great food, and amazing, warm team here.

Sweet Demi Lune Bakery has not just flourished—it has become a cherished cornerstone of North Glendale and Montrose. Once a promising newcomer, it is now a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. Walking through the doors, you're still met with the same welcoming warmth—friendly smiles, lively chatter, and the irresistible scent of freshly baked perfection. The bakery continues to set the standard, skillfully expanding its menu while perfecting its signature pastries. Their croissants remain unmatched—flaky, buttery, and impossibly light. And the Kouign-Amann? Still a showstopper, drawing pastry lovers from near and far with its rich, caramelized layers. Now, Sweet Demi Lune has elevated its offerings even further, introducing breakfast and savory options alongside its renowned pastries. Whether you're in the mood for a light bite or something indulgent, there's no shortage of tempting choices. Their pistachio raspberry croissants, in particular, deserve high praise—layers of nutty richness intertwined with vibrant berry sweetness make them nothing short of sublime. Beyond the menu, the bakery has embraced its role as a community hub. From seasonal specials to lively events, Sweet Demi Lune is more than a place to grab a pastry—it’s a space where people gather, connect, and celebrate life’s simple joys. If you haven’t visited recently, consider this your invitation. Sweet Demi Lune Bakery remains at the top of its game, ready to delight you with familiar favorites and enticing new creations—all wrapped in a little extra magic.

Google
Wow! This place is soooo good. At the picture you can see the items we have tried and we are literally coming back same day to get more! Absolutely delightful taste, crispy croissants. The fillings even the cream ones are not overly sweet! AMAZING! We are so lucky to have this place open up! You can tell there’s so much love and passion behind it.

Chester C.

Yelp
You have to try these croissants--they're hands down the best I've had outside of Europe. They taste just like the ones my friend and I used to get from our favorite little bakery in France. Plus, there's free parking and the neighborhood is super charming to stroll through.

Steven R.

Yelp
Made from scratch to perfection. The baker has been doing this for years. Tough to go back to other croissants after eating Sweet Demi Lunes. Coffee is SO MUCH BETTER than Starbucks. I drink it black. Great service, great pastries, great coffee! Can't go wrong.

Yelp
Staff is very welcoming and helpful. This place is very quiet and calming. Almond Croissant- 5/10 Flavor is there but it doesn't have enough frangipane. Also it is pretty hard considering it is a croissant. Pistachio Raspberry Pastry- 8/10 Flavorful and great texture.
google avatar

Taline A.

Yelp
Hands down, the BEST croissant I have ever eaten--buttery, airy, soft on the inside, crispy on the outside. Pure perfection. This croissant has officially ruined all other croissants for me and I'm grateful. Wholeheartedly, I recommend it and other yummies at this bakery!

Yelp
I love Sweet Demi Lune and can't stop raving about it to my colleagues. Now that I'm working in the Montrose area, SDL is on my top three go to spots when on break. First, the pastries are yum and baked fresh daily. Second, the coffee is excellently crafted! Yes, the big two chain coffees are on the corner, but let them go and indulge in a true cappuccino and croissant experience instead of something mediocre. The space is clean and quiet with ample space for eating indoor or out. And, the service by the owners is kind and attentive

Yelp
DELICIOUS! I live a few minutes away from Downtown Montrose and saw on Yelp that they had kouign amann's so had to try this place! I stopped by yesterday after lunch and it wasn't crowded. They had plenty of pastries left and was relieved they had what I went for. I got the house kouign amann, the regular kouign amann, almond croissant, almond apple croissant and a chocolate swiss croissant that had custard. Everything was very good. It was tasty and the crisp on all of the pastries were just perfect. My daughter loved them. My husband and I are so happy that we found a new place close to our house with kouign amanns too! Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Five stars to an Almond Croissant like no other. I love a good almond croissant so when I walked past Demi Lune and consulted Yelp, I found that the almond croissant had stellar reviews. Therefore I marched right in and ordered one. Super yummy alert! Crisp with a perfect shine and crackle. The bakery itself appears immaculate. Lots of light too. I was greeted warmly and made to feel appreciated. Bravo! I'll need to return to try the coffee, but I fear I may never taste any of the other GORGEOUS baked goods because of the call of the croissant.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Had a cup of coffee and a kouign amann and both were very tasty. I will order them again when I am in the neighborhood.

Yelp
What a nice surprise! My visit at Demi Lune was perfect for an iced Americano, ham/cheese croissant, and other french inspired pastries. The blueberry kouign-amann, a smaller pastry, was amazing -- soft, flaky, fresh blueberries, and a hint of cinnamon. Service was friendly, and plenty of seating as well. Try em out.
google avatar

Alique K.

Yelp
These are literally the BEST croissants you will ever have outside of Europe. Exactly like a bakery my friend and I loved in France. Free parking and the area is cute to walk around
google avatar

Yelp
Oh good lord. These are the best croissants I've ever had. Coffee is excellent. Why go to a chain when you can support local folks doing excellent things?? Come support the Home Team and enjoy some crazy good pastries!!!
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Everyone is always looking for the best croissants in town (at least my friends are) and Los Angeles has plenty one can find... but am always in search of the best donut shaped croissant: the Kouign-Amann. Sweet Demi Lune makes a stellar Kouign-Amann. The pastry is on the smaller side, but the texture and taste is wonderful; it's not dry. Buttery caramelized sweet outer bite and soft inner layered finish. It's dangerously delicious! This bakery is such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! -Cash and Credit accepted. -Parking available in private lot or metered street.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was great, fresh baked crossaints, one of the best selections I have seen ranging from chocolate almond to raspberry pistachio crossaints. All very good. Highly recommend for fresh baked goods.

Yelp
What a lovely place in Montrose to grab a cup of coffee with a delicious pastry. The staff is amazing. They offered the best customer service I've come across in a very long time! Parking was super easy, they have a lot of space in the back or on the street right infront. There's also a lot of places to sit, outside in the shade or inside in the shop. All the pastries we tried were very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

Gilbert G.

Yelp
Stumbled across this bakery because another bakery we were going to was closed on Sunday. So glad we found SDL! Walked in and was warmly greeted by 3 people behind the counter. Very clean interior. We ordered kouign-amann and plain croissant. Best kougin-amann we have had in a long time in LA. Flaky and crispy on the outside and had the nice gooey and sweet section in the center. KA was a 9 and the croissant was an 8. Will be back to try again! Family owned and operated deserves extra star!
google avatar

Cynthia P.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite bakery! Staff is always pleasant and helpful. The "house kouign amann" is a must try. Love the delicious custard with the perfect hint of citrus inside. I tried regular koiugn amann in Paris and was surprisingly disappointed. I didn't realize I had already had the best, right here in Montrose!!! Almond croissant and chocolate croissants are also very good here. They have nice boxes if you are picking up many pastries. The boxes and pastries are beautiful enough to gift to friends. Parking lots are right behind the shop. I prefer the lot that's by the alley entrance when the larger parking lot is full.
google avatar

Lilit J.

Yelp
Excellent baked goods, coffee and service. The staff is very sweet and knowledgable. Their ham and cheese croissant is probably the best I've ever had.
google avatar

Rosita T.

Yelp
If you are into the simple, minimalist look you'll love this place. The pastries are delicious and baked freshly every day in-house. The owners are brothers and very nice. Sandwiches will be offered too very soon. Parking is super easy. I don't think people know about this place as it's a bit hidden. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute shop, easy parking, nice guys running it...but the pastry was dry and my guests didn't like it. SO CLOSE.

Yelp
Well, we couldn't find parking to our local favorite Beralina, so we thought we would try this new cafe. The shop has free parking in back and meter parking in front. It was very clean and had good seating inside and out. Inside was too hot so we opted to sit outside. We had a nice private seating area which was really nice. There wasn't anyone there when we arrived and only about four others who came after we arrived. Coffee was okay. Nothing to write home about. Ordered an americano and a drip coffee along with an apple croissant. Pricing wasn't bad. Small coffee was $3.65. I just think, if you only sell coffee and pastries, you should have a good amount to select from. Would not highly recommend because of the lack of selection. Lots of potential though.

Yelp
This review is a coming a little later than I had wished but I can remember this place like it was yesterday. I arrived as it opened. The place smelled of fresh baked goods! Upon arrival I was greeted with warm smiles and was asked what I would like. I couldn't resist ordering a good variety as I enjoy fresh baked pastries. I asked about a few of them as they looked unique and fascinating to my eye. Every pastry was meticulously, hand crafted. It was obvious that attention to detail and finesse in crafting these goods was of utmost importance. Even when explaining about the few I asked about one could send the passion that the baker has. I can't recommend this local bakery enough. Please check it out for yourself and support this gem! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Yummy pastries and kind service! Clean and modern ambiance. The gentlemen working were very helpful and friendly.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Omg good. The best pastries and latte I've had in the foothills and NELA. Not too sweet and super fresh almond croissant. Yum!
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
the coffee is alright for my tastes. but delicious pastries! that's really what i come here for. ambiance is small and cozy. especially nice when it's pouring rain outside

Yelp
Cute little cafe . Everything was delicious , staff was very nice and attentive . Really glad to have found this place. Will defiantly be back

Yelp
I finally had the please of trying the yummies from Sweet Demi Lune Bakery and I have to say it was delicious!!!!! Everything was so fresh, not overly sweet, not too doughy, just perfect!!!! Thank you for putting so much effort in what you do and perfecting it! Can't wait to try more Like my husband said "it is BOMB"

Yelp
I have just come back from a vacation in Europe with opportunities to eat the best of French, Italian & Swiss pastries. I was always looking for cafes that would match the quality of Sweet Demi Luna. None turned out to be its equal. The croissants are consistently among the best I have ever had. We have become daily patrons of their espresso and pastries, and friends of the owners. Steve R.
google avatar

Tal T.

Yelp
Great coffee, great environment, and kind people. It is a local spot that my friends and I truly enjoy. Give it a try, for sure.
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Their almond croissant wow! My son doesn't like croissants but he always manages to steal mine when I get it here and he knows when I get it from here otherwise he normally wouldn't touch it. It's buttery, slightly crunchy, soft and the right amount of filling. Service is great as well and very hospitable. If you are around give this place a try it worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
New bakery in Montrose. Both street parking and a parking lot onsite available. Opens at 8am, but the food wasn't done baking until 8:20am (with a few items not available until 8:30am) so best to come here later to ensure no waiting and a full selection. The Chocolate Croissant was delicious...extremely light and flaky. The regular Kouign-Amann was good too. We compared both against another local bakery, and you can see some side-by-side photos attached. Not a large menu selection, but what they make, they do well. I recommend checking this place out if you're into sweets and want to try something new!
google avatar

R H.

Yelp
So delicious!! It never disappoints! Such quality. Every baked item is incredible. And such nice service too

Alissa G.

Yelp
Incredible pastries and delicious coffee! The pastries came in a gorgeous box. Customer service was excellent... we will definitely be back!
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
I stopped in with my parents who were out of town. We order lattes and teas, along with several pastries to share. The owners were behind the counter and were friendly and helpful with our choosing selections. It was a packed Sunday morning with no tables available but by the time our drinks were ready a table opened. Highly recommend and will be back.
google avatar

Tiff E.

Yelp
In search of a good french pastry place in the LA area so drove here to try it. Overall 3.5/5 Mixed Berry Tart 4.5/5 Strawberry Pistachio Croissant 4/5 Butter Croissant 4/5 Kouign Amann - 2/5 If you live in the area, definitely a good pastry store that's close to home.
google avatar

Casey G.

Yelp
Adore this cafe. Wanted to support local business & breakaway from corner giants Starbucks & CoffeeBean. So worth walking down a few doorways! Wonderful coffee, delicious fresh pastries. My friend & I always look forward to our visits as a wonderful treat and the staff is friendly, thoughtful & caring! This is always our first stop before walking the Sunday farmers market. Highly recommend

Sandy M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing croissants.. esp the almond one!! Service was top notch too. It was so good... we went back later that day to pick up more goodies. Thank you!

Yelp
Demi Lune (1/2 Moon) sits on the top floor of a mini mall just below Montrose Village on Ocean. It is an unassuming place though the physical plant is sparkling clean. There are several tables on which to sit and enjoy your selection and an espresso drink. I arrived about 10am and much to my dismay and surprise there was not much product from which to choose. It seems after speaking to Andre' (Baker and owner) that they sell out pretty quickly each morning. But by 10am on a Thursday? BUT: they did have several Butter croissant which is was brought me here to begin with. As a reminder before i evaluate any venue's Croissant, i put it through paces that most of us would do in most homes: I freeze the Croissant I defrost overnight in the refrigerator I re-heat in a cold to 330 degree oven for about 10 minutes which will re-heat the Croissant through. On first view Demi Lune's Croissant is short yet broad and for me: baked too light. Yet of course the proof is in the pudding and Demi Lunes' Croissant packs a wallop! Re-heating darkens its outer shell a bit and wakens up the roll and transforms it into a Lallapalooza of a Croissant: extremely crispy on the outer shell, buttery and stretchy on the inside. The flavor is dense with the special flavor of European Butter (whether it is from Europe or not)...meaning erupting with full fat, sweet butter goodness. Listen: we don't eat Croissant as a diet treat. We eat croissant to treat ourselves a bit....no a lot, right? Likewise the Chocolate Croissant is decadent and delicious. I also tried an Kouign-Amann which can be best described as a round croissant pastry seemingly dipped in a sugar/vanilla syrup: crispy and akin to a cinnamon roll without the cinnamon. Delicious. Andre and Armond are very nice guys: Andre being the baker, Armond being the front of the house host. I will be back. In the Croissant derby, Demi Lune's is right on top both value-wise (4 bucks) and definitely for flavor and texture. I will be back for sure, Cheers!

London S.

Yelp
Great crispy croissant. Not much choice though, and coffee was ok. I feel like this place recently opened so don't want to be too hard a critic. Just my impression here -- if you're going to have a fancy marble counter top and sell a chocolate croissant at nearly $6, basically compete with hype coffee shops, please consider upping your game by adding plants, art, a vibe to the place, for those willing to eat in. Overall great potential in the area. Thank you.

Dani G.

Yelp
Very good sandwiches and the drinks are great I will definitely come back here again.

Emily W.

Yelp
I'm in town visiting and was drawn in by the other reviews and pics of the pastries, and I have to say it's the best butter croissant I've ever had. I don't even live here and I will be back!
google avatar

Martin T.

Yelp
It's a cute spot to sit at and enjoy some AMAZING pastries. One of the best almond crossaints I've had. Please get that and one of these custard cupcake looking things. It's next level. It's fresh pastries from a family owned business, served by a friendly staff. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Ada C.

Yelp
i walk by this place every single month and tried it for the first time today! the only regret is that i didn't come by this place sooner. I got there about 10:30am on a Monday and the place is already packed! looks like this is a local favorite :) Ordered a house black coffee with their classic almond croissant. What a match in heaven. It is flaky and buttery, coated with a delicious layer of crispy sweet custard, and then the almond filling. This little cafe is neat and clean and the display is very organized, I honestly wanted to order and try everything!

Olivia P.

Yelp
Oh my GOSH this place is AMAZING! The onion pastry was one of the most unique things I've tried in forever, so flavorful, so light and crispy- perfect pastry dough - these people totally know what they are doing. And the gentleman who assisted me was soo kind. 10/10!

Nathalie H.

Yelp
I loveee this place! i'm so happy this spot has opened up and is serving really good coffee! the coffee is strong and delicious. very consistent, always made right. it's next to starbucks and coffee bean but honestly nobody should be going there - they should be coming straight here. delicious pastries too! the service here is super friendly as well! everyone stop supporting starbucks and walk down a few steps and get yourself a quality cup of coffee
google avatar

Arin N.

Yelp
I visited this place at the recommendation of my wife. As you may see in my other reviews parking is important and one of the factors i consider when i review any business in Los Angeles and other major cities. They have plenty of parking spaces in the back, there is also street parking available. Upon walking in What caught my eye first was cafe's brightness and how clean it was. The staff was truly sweet and welcoming and took the time to explain the different types coffee and pastries they have. Coffee was ok but i really enjoyed their in house made pastries , i tried the Lemon Yuzu Tart and i am telling you it is great . Tables are big enough for 1 to 4 maybe 5 people and great place to hangout or even have a meeting.
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
10/10 recommend. First time here and so glad we stopped in. The Almond Croissant is top tier!
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
I never make reviews, but I love this place so much that I want to make sure it gets the traffic it deserves. I am French and the pastries are amazing (and I have tried many places). Lattes are on par. A must go when in Montrose. Pastries and drinks are on the expensive side, compared to a chain like Peets and so on, but matches the quality, and I have seen not as good for more.

Janise E.

Yelp
We were looking for the perfect croissant and WE FOUND IT!!!! What a gem we have here in Montrose. Master Chef Andre is a genius specialist in croissant dough. There are seven croissant-based delicacies baked fresh every morning.
