Hands down the GOAT of bakeries in Annapolis. I discovered them for my wedding and never looked back. My pop pop was a baker and you learn about how a cake should taste. Their cakes are overly sweet and everything is from scratch. From a simple funfetti to gluten free chocolate cake to the coconut cake and more. Besides celebrations just popping in to see their new flavors each month and grabbing a cross ain't and tea for coffee is a treat. I've become friends with the staff as well and truly grateful for their kindness and talents. It's hard to find good people...Sweet Hearts you need to look no further.

Google
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience working with Sweet Hearts Patisserie for our wedding. From the initial tasting to the final discussions of the design of our wedding cake everything was flawless. The cake and cupcakes were not only beautiful but delicious. I cannot recommend them enough.

Google
Such a great selection of macarons. The standout flavor award has to go to the passion fruit macarons. An absolute 10, with passion a fruit flavor that does a wild dance over your tastebuds. The macarons, the short breads the delicate pastries and almond croissants all delicious and baked to perfection. The staff are helpful and enthusiastic making a visit to the pastry shop a peak experience. Unfortunately the macarons were eaten Iong before I thought to take a photo. If you need a sweet ending or beginning to your day, be sure to make a stop at Sweet Hearts! The photos don't do justice to the array of delights on display.

Amazing pastries and the owner is lovely. One of the male associates had excellent customer service skills but the woman behind the register seemed to be having a bad day or something. No hello, how are you, thank you, nothing. Just "here you go" for my receipt. So that felt a bit awkward and turned me off quite a bit.

Google
Ashley and her team were amazing! Super easy to reach, friendly service, and great cakes! We had a 3 tiered wedding cake with red velvet, strawberry champagne, and lemon berry, and a gluten free chocolate cake. Our guests could not pick a favorite! We had a Spring wedding and went with a wildflower theme which Ashley was able to bring to life and the cake was beautiful and delicious!

Google
We had a fantastic and easy experience with Sweet Hearts Patisserie for our wedding cake! The tasting was a lovely experience and there were many delicious flavors to choose from. We saw a cake we liked in the book of their previous work, and they recreated it perfectly! The cake plus the flowers they arranged so perfectly on it came out beautiful, a true showstopper. And, most importantly, it was TASTY!! It was really easy to work with them, too. Couldn't have asked for a better cake vendor! Credit to Nancy Anderson Cordell Photography for the stunning photo of the stunning cake!!

Google
Sweet Hearts Patisserie has been a long time favorite of ours. They did such an incredible job of making the cake and cupcakes for my daughter’s first birthday. Highly recommend!

Google
SHP made us the most beautiful wedding cake ever for our NYE wedding! They made the process so fun and easy from tasting to delivery. I never worried a bit. We were blessed with the most beautiful and delicious cake, and we are so grateful!

Yelp
What a lovely little discovery in Clock Tower Plaza! We don't find ourselves over here that often, but I'm so glad we went exploring one day. We were looking for baguettes in Maryland, and this charming bakery popped up in our search. Granted, they didn't have any straight-up bread for sale, but what we discovered was a sweet patisserie paradise! We tried a few different items to enjoy over a few days, such as macarons, petit fours, meringues, and a cupcake or two. Everything was simply divine. The sweets weren't super-sweet, so you could fully appreciate the nuances and subtleties in flavor. The flavors themselves were classic and creative, so you have your share of the familiar and the adventurous. But, everything tasted so very delicious. Our server was fast, friendly, and helpful with answering our questions. All in all, we probably walked out with more than we planned on, but it was totally worth the indulgence. I'm surprised the pastries lasted as long as they did once we got them home! Extreme self-control on our part.

Yelp
I'm going to keep this review short and sweet! Saw this place listed in a magazine for best bakeries in the area. The place has private parking and plenty of it. The inside is so pretty! It's a girly girls dream. It was also extremely clean They had two people working who were extremely nice. They have an amazing assortment!! So many flavors to choose from. The place was on the pricey side, however, I used to be a baker, and quality ingredients are not cheap. And it is also very time consuming The packaging was so pretty as well. And I will say, hands down this is the most moist cake I've ever tried (I got a slice of birthday / confetti and a slice of coconut)

Yelp
I hosted a tea party and what do you eat at a tea party, MACARONS & PETITE FOURS, of course! Since I wanted authentic macarons, I did a search on my handy dandy Yelp App and Sweet Hearts Patisserie came highly recommended. I was greeted by 2 employees that were very chipper and helpful with my order! It's a beautiful shop that has all types of pastries to indulge. Cupcakes, cakes, and a pretty substantial macaron selection. Additionally, they have breakdowns of prices for a mixture of the two or just packages of macarons or petite fours alone. I ended up ordering a variety of 24 macarons, which included, pink champagne (they had super pretty sparkles), French vanilla, salted caramel, crème brûlée, and apple cider donut. I also ordered 12 petite fours, red velvet, Paris, and confetti. I had to try the Paris option, since it was only offered for the month of September. Side Note: they offer special flavors each month, with addition to the normal options. When packed up, everything was placed in darling boxes with a cute pink bow! The boxes include bar codes that informs you about the varieties of desserts in the box you choose. So don't worry about which is which, just scan it and see the awesome flavors in the box. I set up the desserts for my tea party in a delightful display and everyone ate it up...literally and figuratively! Ha! The macarons had a wonderful crunch, but was gooey on the inside. The petite fours were a bite full of decadence. Perfect bites! Granted, this pastry shop is not cheap, but the workmanship of the pastries, customer service, and delightful taste makes it all worth it! I will absolutely be a repeat customer!

Yelp
Stopped by in between a wedding ceremony and the reception. Decided to indulge our sweet teeth before dinner. We were welcomed as soon as we walked into the patisserie by 2 attendants behind the counter. They had a huge variety of macarons, cupcakes, and cookies. We decided to get an individual blueberry crumb cake and a sprinkle cookie. Ran to get a small carton of milk and indulged in the car. The crumb topping on the blueberry crumb cake was outstanding! So sweet and packed with flavor. The cookie also hit the spot on the sweetness notes. Would return for more baked confections! Jake n kev

Yelp
This is a such great place for a little sweet pickup! They wrap your selections in the cutest boxes. The staff is always polite. Love their macarons and petit fours!

Yelp
I'm going to preface this: I have high expectations for my food, especially with the increased prices that venues are charging. I expect the items to be better than I can make at home from any venue I patronize. Service Excellent customer service. All of the staff were nice. The place is bright and clean. Cupcakes Both were mediocre cupcakes. They look beautiful, however, the flavor was missing, moisture was missing and it was a very small cupcake. Pistachio - was dry, and the almond extract in the frosting was just okay. Ferrero - You could taste the butter in the frosting and nothing else. The cake was moist and that was a plus; still lacked flavor. The ganache on the outside was okay. Overpriced cupcakes for the portion size and taste.

Chastity S.

Yelp
Came in and ordered a few of each item that looked good. Prior to visiting I followed the bakery on Facebook and have been wanting to stop by for awhile. Service: 10/10 the gentlemen who helped me was very informative, friendly, and everyone else I interacted with was nice also. Desserts: I have to agree with others that I was a bit taken back by the portions of the items for the pricing. The cake bites (8 for $30) are good but I don't think I would get them again(7/10). The brownies ($4 ea) are great but also small for the price. The cremeux is delicious and would definitely get again(9/10). Cupcakes (4 for $14) are good as well (9/10). Pricing: for all items in the picture I paid $68. I appreciate the aesthetic and work that goes into making desserts but it's definitely more of a splurge.

Yelp
Fantastic bakery selection. Beautiful cakes. Had a coffee and pastry and everything was excellent.

Shelly I.

Yelp
Was told about this patisserie and it didn't fail. Everything looked delicious and it was! The employees were all very friendly and helpful. Loved that they had small tables and chairs to enjoy the food.

Tina L.

Yelp
I tried their creme brûlée cake at a party that someone brought and it was unforgettable!

Erika D.

Yelp
Came here to pick up a cake last minute for a birthday, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The black & white cake was so yummy!

Rob B.

Yelp
I must post because the seasonal Pumpkin Cream-Cheese cupcake magnifique! I love their wares and cupcakes but do not miss this less bejeweled, petite gateau. Sans sprinkles and glitter d'or it needs no extra embellishment. Always a place to stop but it's unlikely pumpkin will outlast the holidays.

Nora A.

Yelp
Charming little storefront with lots of yummy looking treats! We tried a peppermint chocolate cupcake (cake itself was a bit tiny, but flavors were good), some macarons ($2.50 a pop, the chocolate ganache one was tasty), and four of the petit fours (which were around $13 for four...these were tiny but layered and good...but not super flavorful). Staff was very friendly and helpful!

Shantice J.

Yelp
I love their cupcakes and shortbread. I tried the chai cupcake last week and it was so moist and melted in my mouth.

Yelp
Updated review in 2023 (original review was 6 years ago). Sweet Hearts Patisserie has a wonderful new location (next door) and now has a lot more flavors and items in the shop every day (one of my earlier cons). This makes my heart happy. I love the new area to sit and eat now and enjoy the treats right away. I love checking their Facebook for the monthly flavors. The Paris Iced tea is the best so make sure you get a cup while you are there. Everyone who works there is always so kind, the food is delicious, and the ambience is just perfect.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Ordered a sampler for my mother in law's birthday (she is gluten free) and we split the macarons and petit fours between 6 of us. I also went to their fall sampler day and ordered 2 desserts for thanksgiving, super cute environment and wonderful baked goods! The service was excellent, everyone is very kind. Would definitely recommend.

Kesha S.

Yelp
Best macarons in this area a true French patisserie, the petit fours are also very tasty. Shop is clean and lovely.

Heather W.

Yelp
Wonderful Knowledgeable Staff and decadent pastries! We had the Paris tea which is a unique combination of flavors. Very delicious!

Savannah G.

Yelp
Wow! I've been planning to stop in here after hearing rave reviews for the longest time, I just now got around to it and I'm sorry I waited so long! I stopped in on a Saturday a little later in the day so unfortunately I missed out on trying their pastries (next time for sure!) but I loved every item I tried. The frosting on their cupcakes is so light and fluffy and perfectly sweet. Macarons come in a variety of interesting flavors and taste just as wonderful as they look. The staff were all so friendly and incredibly helpful. My 6 year old kept asking a lot of questions and everyone was so patient and took the time to really explain things to her, even going as far as to explain the process of how certain items were made. I truly can't wait to come back in and support a genuinely great locally owned business.

Chris W.

Yelp
We got several items to try and they were all very yummy! These are probably the best petit fours we have ever had!!

John D.

Yelp
It's a beautiful shop to visit. My grandkids love looking at all the incredible cupcakes, cookies and incredible deserts. The shop is run by a lot of very nice people. It's a place you want to visit.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Sweet Hearts Patisserie has always been one of our favorite spots. They did such an exceptional job on my daughter's birthday cake and cupcakes. Everything tasted incredible.

Charlene R.

Yelp
Seriously the best macaroons ever! My sister found this place on a Google search and it was the best addition to a birthday brunch. They were light delicate pretty and the best tasting macaroons we ever tasted. My god daughter was so pleased with her moms selection.

Martha R.

Yelp
Petit fours are delicious as well as beautiful. Macrons are the best I've ever had! I can't wait to try the Funfetti cake we orders for the baby shower.

Jill W.

Yelp
Adorable and clean shop. Very charming. Beautiful macaroons as well as petit fours, cupcakes, and a few pastries. The display case is alluring. Great customer service; great place to order a cake or treats for your next event! I got 6 macaroons as a gift for my neighbor and they tied them in a box with a bow. Nice touch. In a shopping center with ample, easy parking, and a wine bar and gourmet market too!

Stephen G.

Yelp
Ordered Valentine's treats for my family; cupcakes, macarons, sugar cookies, petit fours, and two beautiful Raspberry Rose Ispahan Grande Macarons. All were amazing and well worth the money, my family loved every bite. This will be our new annual tradition.

Missy B.

Yelp
Delicious pastries. A little on the pricey side but if you want something for a special event, good choice.

Katie B.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. I really can't say enough about the delicious and adorable cake we ordered for my sister in law, celebrating her new RN. I had very short notice to get a cake done so Chelsea worked with me to order a Vanilla Royale cake with strawberry jam filling. The vanilla bean buttercream was so smooth and delicious and seriously out of this world. They worked with very little time to put together a cute presentation including a stethoscope that draped down the side of the cake for a little extra flair. I was so happy with everything from ordering over the phone, the choices, the timely pick-up, taste... everything was such a hit! I will definitely be continuing to use Sweet Hearts in the future for alll my delicious needs.

Iris H.

Yelp
I pre-ordered an assortment of 6 croissants along with petit fours last weekend. They offer curbside drop-off as an option or you can go in with a mask and pick-up your order. All croissants were flaky and buttery. I had the almond croissant right away and there wasn't as much almond paste as I expected, but the chocolate was well filled. For the petit fours, I ordered chocolate, key lime, vanilla and strawberry. All of them were delicious. I always love petit fours because they're the perfect option to fulfill your sweet tooth without having to buy an entire cake. Their hours are altered a bit due to COVID but you can still call or order online ahead of when you want the baked goods. It was a lovely spot and I'm excited to go back for more.

Mike M.

Yelp
Sweet Hearts makes beautiful baked goods. Even the simplest desserts there look like the work of a very good visual artist. The looks is very French... elegant with small touches, and everything perfectly sculpted like the gardens of Versailles. Seeing is part of the experience with a lot of desserts, and they absolutely kill it on that front. I had macaroons and cupcakes from there, and they were both both very good. The macaroons are the best I've had in a long time. And the cupcakes had flavorful cake with a big, sculpted heap of buttercream icing on top. The buttercream struck a unique balance to me... it had a lot of buttery smoothness but wasn't heavy at all. I liked it. They had some good icing flavors, too: I really liked their salted caramel. The flavors were distinct but not too rich. The baked goods I had were all very good. They'd be among the better bakeries in any locale. If you're comparing them to another great bakery, though, I think it's the visual component that makes them stand out. If you just want a cupcake for the taste, theirs are competitive with anyone's, but if you want the cupcakes (or macaroons or petit fours) to add a fun, dainty, elegant visual touch to your occasion, they're an even better fit.

Yelp
Sweet Hearts has been in my bookmarks for quite awhile, but I am never in that part of Annapolis. It's a little bit off the beaten path, but not too far from the mall area and Annapolis Town/Harbor Center. As the self-proclaimed cupcake and macaron connoisseur, I sample these sweet treats wherever I go-- from LA to DC and everywhere in between (and Paris, of course!). Sweet Hearts actually does macarons right! The texture of the outside of the macaron was perfect and the taste was on point. They have some traditional flavors to choose from (french vanilla, dark chocolate, pistachio) as well as some more creative flavors (pink champagne, mint chocolate, guava coconut). The dark chocolate and mint chocolate were SO good. The cupcakes were surprisingly really good as well. Oftentimes, fancy cupcake shops are all about appearance and really lack in the flavor and texture categories, but I was impressed with the quality of the cupcakes and taste! A little pricey at $3 per cupcake, but definitely better than a crappy $3 Whole Foods cupcake. The service was fine; I wasn't sure if it was genuinely friendly or fake/friendly and I felt a little rushed (considering I was the only one purchasing); but, I would return! I have my eye on some petit four, as well as the seasonal cupcake and macaron rotation.

Dunny D.

Yelp
Best macaroons I've ever had, but the "$$" is very misleading. Just expect to pay $15 for 6 cookies and you won't have a single regret coming here.

James D.

Yelp
Really fantastic experience. Everyone is super friendly at this shop. The sweets are perfectly incredibly. I would give it more stars if I could.

Tonyia F.

Yelp
The shop is cute inside. The macaroons were flaky and the filling was light and perfect, the pricing on the other hand wasn't. I understand this is a small business, perhaps family operated or owned, but I feel what I paid was a tad bit outrageous. This place was nice to try ONCE.

Ruth L.

Yelp
I usually drive down to D.C. to get my macaroon fix. Not any more! Hands down, this place has the best macaroons! My husband isn't even a desert person and he finished a box of 6! I think what sets them apart is the creamy filling inside! My favorite is definitely the salted caramel! I bought an assortment of 12 for around $24. The interior is also super cute and inviting, even though its in the middle of a strip mall-ish area. Will definitely be back.

Elisa P.

Yelp
Cake squares: tiramisu, birthday cake, red velvet, vanilla raspberry. Macaroons: milk chocolate amaretto, lavender honey, pink champagne, French vanilla Everything was incredibly tasty and perfect. Special mention goes to the tiramisu and red velvet cake squares and the pink champagne macaroons. The cake squares were covered in delicious, crunchy chocolate and the cake part was moist, creamy and flavorful. First time trying cake squares and it was much better than cake pops. The macaroons were perfectly balanced. There was a little tension on the outside, they were soft and tender on the inside. The fillings nicely complemented the flavor of the paste.

Meghan M.

Yelp
If you want the best French macaroons then you must get them here. They offer monthly flavors that are delicious. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. I bought cupcakes for a friend who adored them. Must go for a fun and yummy bakery treat!

Candice H.

Yelp
I visit this spot at least once a month to get French macarons. The place is quaint and cute and the display case is so tempting, I find it hard to select just a few items. Their hours have been impacted by Covid so make sure to visit their website for current information.

Wendy M.

Yelp
I recently ordered a cake for my daughters bridal shower and couldn't have picked a better place. The staff is very friendly and are very eager to help suggest/guide you to picking the perfect dessert for your even! The cake was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. My guests absolutely loved it and I will definitely be back.

Christie B.

Yelp
Fantastic! My husband ordered my birthday cake from here because I wanted to "go" to Paris. The cake was PERFECT! So much so that for Valentine's Day, when I realized they'd be open until 4pm, I jumped in my car at 3:00pm and drove the 30 minutes just to buy more sweets. I had no idea what to get so I asked the staff - who was INCREDIBLE AND KIND - what they recommended (once I decided on a cake) and I was not disappointed. The cake was SOOOO delicious! This is only the 2nd time I've had anything from here but between the kind and friendly customer service and the amazing cakes I will travel here any day for their sweets! Oh and the cake was SO good that I did a second spin cycle work out after the first piece so I could feel good about having a second slice! Totally worth it!

Ana K.

Yelp
If you walk into their store, you'll find delicious treats to go. If you want to work with them on a custom order, forget it. The auto reply email to their online request option says they'll get back to you in 5 business days, but I never heard from them and had to go elsewhere. I hope they realize they're losing business by not getting back to potential customers promptly.

Elaine F.

Yelp
This is a really cute place. We stopped in not long before closing and picked out some yummy treats. They had several nice larger cakes, a lemon one and a chocolate one. But what caught my eye was an individual miniature chocolate layer cake and their beautiful variety of cupcakes.

Susan K.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Sweet Hearts! They created this custom, Bourbon-themed cake for my husband's 50th birthday party, and it was absolutely fantastic. It was EXACTLY what I envisioned! Ashley was so good about working with me on the design, and the cake actually TASTED as good as it looked!! We got the chocolate raspberry mousse, and it was decadently delicious.

Michæl E.

Yelp
We HIGHLY recommend Cake by Jason in Timonium. They are the saviors of this story. Back in October, we were slated to pick up a wedding cake we had ordered. We provided the reference picture and were assured they could color match. When the cake was ready the groom picked up the cake and paid for it. As soon as the bride saw how the cake looked nothing like the reference picture, our family called immediately to see if they could possibly remake it or reimburse for it. We offered and insisted we would bring the product back. They refused to take it back and basically told us we were on our own since we left the facility with it. They also told us they could not make even a plain cake in the two days before the wedding. Technically they have the right to say that, but it's a pretty poor way of doing business and treating your customers. Poor management and customer service from owner to management. Cake by Jason had NO problem making a delicious and beautiful plain white cake the day before the wedding. Go there--not here. If we can save one couple from a poor wedding experience then we will be happy.

Christina H.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in the other day, after I requested cupcakes. The shop is super adorable and the gentleman helping was very nice and patient with my indecisiveness. We ordered a dozen cupcakes, a meringue and a small gift box (8 macarons, 6 petit fours). The price is significantly higher than you would expect, but not unreasonable if the quality is there. The cupcakes were ok, pretty swirls of icing that 3/4ths of my kids wouldn't eat because it was "greasy" and my daughter said the red velvet cake was dry and kind of gross, but she liked the cream cheese icing. The macarons were probably my favorite, though they're more like double stuffed sandwich cookies than the ones I'm familiar with which typically have a dainty layer of filling. I've decided that petit fours are my favorite dessert, taking the place of cupcakes. Unfortunately, while the cake and filling inside are very tasty, instead of using ganache or actual fondant, they used bark "chocolate" which is very waxy and had an off-putting mouthfeel. The only thing which I would definitely not get again is the meringue. I'm not sure if it was an off batch, but it was sour, as if too much cream of tartar was used. Overall I would return, just expected more for the price. They just cut corners in silly places.

Yelp
I came by Saturday and purchased a slice of Pecan tart among other things. I told them before I left how grateful I was this was so close to work and that I would be back soon. So yesterday (Tuesday) I called a few mins before closing to see if I could still pick up a pecan tart since I was a mile away. I was told only if I provide payment over the phone and if i arrive no later than 4:15. I happily obliged and I told them I would call them right back (literally within 60 seconds) from my cell phone because I wasn't comfortable doing that over my work phone. Low and behold, nobody answers the phone after several tries. I left a voicemail (while en route). I show up to the doors locked. I knocked on the door and this guy that came to the door got nasty and smart with me and said we don't take orders after we're closed. So then I tried to explain what happened and he looked and responded like he could care less. He said he would take my order and have me wait outside. Perplexed and thought to myself this is odd. So I told him I like to see what I am paying for. Especially since I was just there a few days ago and I like to see what I am purchasing. That is not how customer service works. He called me rude and I asked to speak to a manager only to be told by her to leave after I tried to explain what happened and that I did not appreciate this guy's nasty attitude. I asked her if she remembered me from my last visit. And she acknowledged she did but that didn't matter apparently. DON'T SHOP HERE. POINT. BLANK. PERIOD. There are plenty of other bakeries in the area. I will make sure not to recommend this place to others I come across. #racismstillexists

Winnie D.

Yelp
I've only been here twice as I'm not from here, but it's certainly a treat every time we get to come in and pick up macarons. Our favorite to get is the crème brûlée, but today we also tried birthday cake and that is definitely a new favorite. They said they changed out the flavors monthly but so far there has always been something good. They have other small pastries such as cupcakes and mini cakes. Might have to try that next!

Greg E.

Yelp
I guess that I have to swim against the current here. I selected this bakery based on the glowing reviews, but I can't say that I agree. We ordered a birthday cake for Labor Day weekend, and Sweet Hearts did produce a beautiful looking cake. But you eat with more than your eyes, and I just can't recommend this bakery for something basic like a birthday cake. Looking at the other reviews, it seems like people do like the macaroon and cupcakes produced here, but I can't weigh in there. We ordered a birthday cake on Tuesday, for a Thursday pickup. This was considered a rush job, so we had a limited number of designs to choose from for a cake. We selected beautiful happy birthday design using vanilla/golden "funfetti" cake and vanilla buttercream. So far, totally fine. Who doesn't like funfetti? And when we picked up the cake, it was ready on time and looked great. But that's where the disappointment begins. This birthday cake just didn't taste nearly as good as it looked. The cake crumb was dense and coarse - imagine a banana bread consistency. And while the icing was smooth and beautiful looking, it was more reminiscent of whipped cream and buttercream. It was light and really lacked any flavor other than a light sweetness. We also purchased a typical supermarket sheetcake at the party, and to a person, we agreed that the supermarket cake was just, well, better, when it came to taste. Sure, the Sweet Hearts cake was pretty, but it just didn't compare in texture or flavor to a basic supermarket, or box cake. And, of course, the supermarket cake was less than half the price. So the service here was great, and designs look flawless. But if you are into eating cake, maybe choose another option for a party and your guests might be happier in the end.

Yelp
Received a box of macarons as a gift. Flavors included French vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and creme brulee. They all were SO GOOD. Absolutely delicious and I can't wait to try their other offerings. The packaging was adorable too, all wrapped up in a bow with a flavor identification card. LOVED.

Christopher H.

Yelp
This place is amazing! If you appreciate a French Macaron or a seriously delicious cupcake, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. I own a business and give these delicious treats as gifts on a regular basis. The amazed look on my customers' faces when they see a 6 pack ofthe best cupcakes ever, never gets old. Oh yeah, they have great coffee and tea drinks too!
