This place is a little hole in the wall but it's cute and quaint. If you go when it's cold, don't sit near the windows or back door because the draft is terrible. As for the food, I really enjoyed the cheese curds. My partner said they were too greasy but I enjoyed them. He liked the francheezie well enough but he said it wasn't that great. Their vegan burger, though wonderfully handmade, is gross. All the ingredients appealed to me so I was really looking forward to eating it but I don't know what is added to it to give it a smokey taste. Whatever it is, it's too strong and overpowering, I couldn't even finish it. And then about an hour later I was in the bathroom quite a few times from whatever I ate from this place. I would say the only really good thing was the alcoholic beverage I drank, bartender made a perfect drink. Definitely will never return to this place if I am in the area again. And on an odd note, the women's bathroom had absolutely no heat whatsoever. It was freezing in there.

The food was great all around. My friends and I tried the pretzel and curds for appetizers and the curbs were so buttery and melty good. The pretzel had the nice crust outside and soft inside (the cheese that came with it was ok). Our entrees were mushroom swiss burger with fries (I liked the fries a lot), fish sandwich with chips (my friend liked the chips a lot) and slaw (not a fan of the slaw), and grilled chicken salad. The salad was good had a fair amount of veges. Our drinks were red wine, grapefruit juice (free refills) and soda. Our server was awesome and definitely a spot I'd recommend if folks are looking for burger or sandwiches. I am having remorse as I think I should have chosen the Chicago dog over the salad 😃.

Google
What a great find! We were greeted with a friendly hello and seated immediately. Very quaint and has a beautiful grapevine covered patio. Our server was attentive and great suggestions for us. The food was delicious! We all enjoyed our meals. Portion sizes were good. There was a large variety of foods to please everyone. I think the cheese curds were outstanding! Probably some of the best I've ever had. Parking wasn't bad being a little off the main drag. Definitely a go again for me. If you haven't been here give them a try!

Google
Might have found the best hidden gem patio in all of Madison! Bonus they are dog friendly and it’s all shaded, perfect on a hot day. Didn’t eat the food today so can’t rate that, but excited to come back and try it again soon!

Google
Diving little place with great WI foods. I had the cheese curds which were some of the best I have tried. For my main dish I had the Italian Beef and really enjoyed it. Lastly we sat at the bar and the service was great. Overall, it is worth a stop for a bite and some drinks.

Google
This was one the happiest discoveries of my life! I cannot rave ebougu about this place. Food and drinks are amazing!! We had the best server who absolutely made our time there magical. Plus there is beautiful history tied to the grape vine.

Mike Thomley

Google
Unique, small location that is well known (at least it seems) that is a favorite of mine in Madison. The outdoor seating is almost tropical with the canopy vines and leaves offering shade. Inside is small but has neat features. The food is amazingly delicious. Many Unique beer choices. I still have more to explore.

Google
With all due respect to the chief… the meat seasoning might need to be a bit modified. I feel like the fresh ingredients & Brioche bun definitely adds value to this Garlic Burger on the menu (I added Lettuce, red onion, & avocado) but the taste of the actual beef, because of the seasoning, threw me off. Not bad, just could use an adjustment of possibly incorporating cumin into that mix or retrying that garlic aioli. - Otherwise, the staff was friendly, atmosphere was nice but please water & dust your plants lol 🥺

Yelp
They have a great outdoor patio out back with a great ambiance. We had the cheese curds, Italian beef, and a brat. The food was delicious! I really enjoyed everything we ate. They also have a wide variety of adult drinks as well. The bartender was super nice and knowledgeable. The owner Brett is a great accommodating guy. He has a lot of pride in this place and for good reason! If you are in the area, stop by you won't regret it! Tip: parking is a bit tricky here, meaning there isn't really any. Brett is working on getting parking across the street. For now, We parked across the street in a parking garage next to Cousins Subs.
google avatar

Yelp
The staff were attentive and helped us pick out good beers. We were on a Wisconsin/Minnesota cheese curd tasting trip and their curds were in the top 3. The brat was average. We sat outdoors and I shade provided by the plants was really pleasant.

Yelp
We were not done celebrating after the Badger win and were on the hunt for a place nearby that wasn't overrun with folks and had a 25 minute wait for a beer, so we kept walking down Regent Street until we found what we were after, which turned out to be Sweet Home Wisconsin! We wandered in and bellied up to the bar immediately. The staff was phenomenal from entry to exit. Both bartenders and the bar back we encountered were friendly, kind and pleasant. Even the other customers at the bar were friendly! Could have been the great UW win, but either way, not a bad vibe in the place! We hung out for an hour or two, and in that time had a few cocktails, a pickle back and some cheese curds. All were delightful! Sweet Home Wisconsin has a purely local vibe, but a welcoming energy for all local or visiting. Overall, absolutely fell in love with this little spot! It is certainly on my "return to" list when back in Madison!

Yelp
We only had cocktails, which were great. Very cute place either way friendly service.

Yelp
Loved this place. Cozy, cool decor, and friendly staff. They weren't kidding when they bragged about their cheese curds! Lightly battered @ a yummy dipping sauce. Our table had the Garlic and Fonzie Burgers, both were uniquely delicious! Will be back!

Yelp
We were in town for a few days and someone had recommended this place to my husband, so we figured we would give it a try. We arrived around 11 on a Friday and were quickly seated. They have appetizers, several different burgers, salads, and a few others sandwiches. I had the garlic guitar burger with chips. My husband had the patty melt with fries. Both sandwiches were very tasty. The chips were extra crunchy. The fries were good but very salty.
google avatar

Yelp
CHEESE CURDS and other fresh excellence from the kitchen make a stop at this small bar and eats place worthwhile. Friendly peeps.
google avatar

Ira B.

Yelp
Sweet home Wisconsin appears to be a cool place to hang out, primarily for students. We happened to go for lunch on a Friday at 11:00 a.m. just as they opened, and it seemed to be their less active time, understandably. It did provide us the opportunity to get great service, since we were the only ones there. I had the patty melt and fries - the burger was excellent, and the fries were prepared to a perfect crispness and just a little oversalted. With pricing averaging about $20 per person including drinks and a meal, it is a reasonable value for the area.
google avatar

Troy R.

Yelp
The service was great on a rainy day. Jalapeño poppers were forgettable, but the boneless wings were good and the grilled cheese was quite tasty! Quiet afternoon at the bar with a few locals in, would definitely come back again!

Yelp
Was trying to get into another burger place that was highly rated but due to a game the wait was too long. Ended up walking back to the car and did another yelp search. This was a few blocks away so decided to try it. So here are the good things: -Service was solid -Beverage selections were plentiful -Had the college vibe, wood everywhere with a touch to stickiness and grime that brought back memories -Appetizers were solid - cheese curds were bananas! Wings were good, wish it was tossed with slightly less sauce and hoping they were bigger wings but still good The reason why I gave 3 stars -The burgers were just ok -The pickle spear didn't have a crunch. -Just pepper on the chips Regarding the burgers, wish they seasoned the meat a little more prior to cooking. They were juicy but I had to add salt and pepper to really bring out any flavor. Pickle spear was springy and had no crunch. Being an additional charge i was thinking they'd be fresh and crispy but not the case. Chips were good but some had nothing others had pepper grinds with very little salt. I had to add salt. I complained a lot about salt and I don't like over salty food, I just like when it accents it and brings out the flavors. Gotta give it another try as this could have been a bad day

Yelp
I took out dinner from here on a Friday evening. Fried cheese curds I had, was the best I ever had. Sriracha ranch added a nice kick to it. Garlick guitar lick burger had excellent flavors. Phish fry sandwich was good as well.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
How have I never been here before? I have lived in Madison for 28 years and missed this one. We went for dinner on a Thursday night and the crowd was light, which is just my style. The beer selection is good, the potato wedges were tasty, and we split 2 burgers, both of which were excellent. The service was on point as well. Can't wait to go back now that I know it's there!
google avatar

Seth K.

Yelp
Yelp was really hyping this place up for me. As soon as we got there and sat down, the tables were sticky and were very close together. The cheese curds were good, but also very greasy. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, and it was terrible. My bun was soggy, and the burger tasted charred. Honestly, I could not even finish it, it was so bad. I really had my hopes up, but I was let down very quickly...
google avatar

Steve P.

Yelp
Good food served in a great atmosphere and pleasant service! What more could I ask for!

Jojo H.

Yelp
The best cheese curds I've ever had!! I wish I got to sit outside but unfortunately it was raining. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Madison.
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing special. We were so excited to come here based on all the reviews but our food was glorified bar food. If you're going here for the food, maybe find a different spot. Not impressed.
google avatar

Nicki C.

Yelp
Staff were rude/ food was mushy and cold. The place was dirty, and facilities are unaccommodating to the people that are spending money to eat.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
Stopped by this place after going to the zoo and we were glad we did. Friendly and prompt service and the food was on point. One of the best Italian beef sandwiches I've had in awhile, the beef was seasoned perfectly and wasn't dry like it often is. Definitely recommend getting a side of the au jus to dip it in. The traditional chicken wings were crispy and had flavorful sauce. Would have liked to had celery sticks served with the wings and the parking situation isn't great, otherwise would have given 5 stars, but will definitely be back again!

Yelp
The Food was really good, you could taste and see the freshness, if I remember right there bread if brought from a local bakery?! Which is awesome to see one small business helping another.. I would definitely go back if we're in the area again, the service was little slow and we had to wait for a seat but we understood and where okay with that do to the circumstances( Shania Twain concert being played at the university less then 2/3 blocks away) very good drink selection as well!!

Bruce M.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was fast. I would recommend for a casual dinning experience.
google avatar

Gabby N.

Yelp
The outdoor patio was lovely, and our server was super friendly and attentive. I also ordered the Strawberry Fields cocktail and it was delicious! A perfect choice if you enjoy super sweet drinks. The sandwiches were pretty good, but I was disappointed by my side of cheese curds, which I paid an extra $4.50 for the substitution. For the price, I was surprised with how few were on my plate. That being said, we had a good experience.

Yelp
First time here and and absolutely loved it !!! Cute place right by the University. Menu has a good selection. Ordered the Chicago style hotdog and it was delicious. The hot dog was devoured in minutes. The hand cut fries were really good too. The server was super friendly and the food arrived quickly. Its great spot for casual lunch or dinner. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

Ladan N.

Yelp
Great food and super tasty burgers. Definitely try their garlic option. Service was great as we were in a rush for an appointment so had to switch to take-out once we realized we probably didn't have enough time to sit down and enjoy the food inside. The waitress was super helpful and brought our food in take-out containers and no time was wasted! Love the cute and creative aesthetics. Will go back for sure!

Yelp
In one word, disappointing. As a huge burger fan, I came here following a friend's recommendation (and some snooping of the yelp reviews). Though I was a little turned off at the high menu prices ($9 for curds and a total of $14 for a garlic burger with fries), I thought "this really must be some good food". Unfortunately, the fries were not only sparse (which is a shame because we paid extra for them) but also not fully cooked and made from spoiled potatoes. The burger, sadly, completely lacked flavor, was burnt on some parts, had no juices, was overall unevenly cooked, and just tasted like cheap meat (i.e., not a $13burger). Note: I'm not commenting on the bun, because we got carry out, and steaming in a closed container isn't the fault of the establishment). At the end of the day, we paid $35 for dry chicken (Buffalo chicken sandwich), a small handful of (barely edible) fries, small batch of undercooked cheese curds (for half of them, the cheese was solid), and a (even by Midwest standards) bland low quality burger. I genuinely hope that this was an anomaly and not a set standard, and hope that, if another friends recommends this place, then I can have a recorrective experience.

Yelp
This quaint bar and grill is a block-and-a-half from UnityPoint-Meriter (UPM) hospital. The hospital offers food only during explicit "meal" hours, as I found out trying to get a meal between 2pm and 5pm. At 2:10pm, I was sh_t out of luck. Hospitals these days can't be bothered to consider that loved ones of those hospitalized get there at the oddest of hours and are in need of sustenance 24 hours a day. A famished "loved one" cannot possibly be a help to anyone, much less help to an ill person. So I hiked it over to this charming storefront bar and grill. You guessed it, I went for the grill and ignored the bar (I am a tea-totaler). I had a burger, of which they had a plethora of choices -- very good. All kinds of fixin's. And french fries. I sat at the string of stools facing the thoroughfare of Regent Street, watching cars go by, studying the storage sizes of hatchbacks. I learned a lot: sizes range range from nearly non-existent to humongous. These days, hospitals are definitely NOT hospitable to non-patients (although, to be fair, UPM is better than most) (check out UPM's waiting room on the second floor to the north; it is something to behold). I experienced this tavern to be way more "hospitable" than any hospital. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this cozy tavern again. I recommend the Sweet Home Wisconsin way-station.

Yelp
The place is rather small so it was a miracle we got a table on a Friday. They have a nice selection of beers and cocktails which we all enjoyed. The showstopper is the cheese curds here, the biggest regret was not getting multiple orders. They are very good and I want to go back for them. I got the brat with a side of fries and those were alright. I would have opted for a side of cheese curds if I knew beforehand. I would definitely go back for a beer and cheese curds to watch some sports.

Yelp
On a business trip, and saw the great reviews, so we washed to take a try. Small pub/restaurant. Tv's are porky placed. Since this the first time in Wisconsin for me, I wanted to try the cheese curds. We ordered, cheese curds, jalapeño poppers, med rare mushroom burger and a medium garlic burger. Our server was very attentive and our food came out quickly. The cheese curds weren't warm, and the jalapeño poppers were cold/ warm. We received our burgers quickly, but they were over cooked and EXTREMELY SALTY. After the first taste of the burger and fries, I couldn't finish the food. Overall, if you come here for a drink, it's probably a great place, but for food, not a place for me. Way too much salt.

Alexander P.

Yelp
Don't be mistaken by the hole-in-the wall appearance on the outside. While the place may be small in size, facilities are modern and (seemingly) recently renovated. ATM is included within if needed. Staff are friendly and attentive from the weekday lunch I was there, and open to answer any questions you might have. The food was good quality and prepared quickly. Tried the Garlic Burger and, while I would have preferred more flavorful sautéed onions on it, this was made up by the excellently spiced fries.Drinks were likewise well crafted, and I highly recommend trying the CBD infused drinks if that is your style.

Yelp
Great experience! Portions are above average and good bar food. Waitstaff was friendly- had a 4 y/o - comfortable and were accommodating. May need to wait in line on game days.

Ryan A.

Yelp
hawk tuah spit out my food it was so bad I'm never going here again my family puked for weeks I think I have diabetes and my sister is really ill I recommend to never go here in your life but the water was good
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer garden in the back and causal spot. Good mix of beers on tap. Great cheese curds and potato wedges! Ok fish fry sandwich.
google avatar

Tony C.

Yelp
Good beer selection, tasty old fashioned's and great food including top notch curds and snappy brats. It's as the name says.
google avatar

Ken W.

Yelp
Good place for pre-game meal if you are going to a Badger event in the afternoon. Excellent fries. Great beers. Though last time I tried to go on a Sunday they were closed which was weird? Nothing on their Facebook page about an emergency?
google avatar

Crystal F.

Yelp
This place is amazing. From the beer to the food to the ambiance. Love it!! Great service and great prices.
google avatar

Trevor B.

Yelp
To start, I went with the bbq wings and a pretzel. The wings were good and so was the sauce, but the pretzel was nothing special. I went with the Fonzy Fried Egg Burger. This throng was amazing! It was served on sourdough bread, with an egg, and they had Wisconsin maple syrup as well, which was a game changer. The kettle chips were the standard side and I had Parmesan seasoning added as well. These were just okay, I was not the biggest fan of the seasoning, so I would pick a different side if I ate there again. The atmosphere was a cool local bar feel with a lot of open space which was nice. The bartender was nice and attentive.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
Quick trip to Madison and grabbed a to go meal. Really enjoyed our lunch! Will plan on returning soon.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Stopped in for some quick cheese curds and tomato soup! It was delicious as always! Service was friendly and great.
google avatar

Cherise K.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place more as it used to be a hot dog shop that I frequented and has the makings of a fantastic burger place. It's small, just a bit divey, and plays some good music. But the food didn't blow me out of the water. It was good, but not great. So if you're in the area and want a burger this a good option to hit up.
google avatar

Susie K.

Yelp
Excellent patty melt, chips and Potosi root beer! A must try! Excellent service! Easy location to get to.
google avatar

Geoff P.

Yelp
So, I don't know what I expected going in, but everything about this establishment exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent, the beer choices were great, and the food is much more of a Gastropub than a traditional bar menu. The three of us had burgers, and we all agreed they were some of the most creative, well seasoned burgers any of us had had in a long time. I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
Good bar food, great service. The ambience was dive bar but the quality of the food and service elevated the experience. Karis was the server and I'd give her an A+.
google avatar

Kat W.

Yelp
4 stars. Tried this place since I was nearby after seeing great reviews for this place. We opted for many of the happy hour appetizers and an entree, including the cheese curds with sriracha, garlic parm bone-in wings, cajun hand-cut fries with garlic aioli, and mushroom swiss burger with chips. Not a single vegetable in sight (unless you count the pickles with the burger). The appetizers were all alright, standard American pub-fare. I appreciated that they were definitely made fresh and came out piping hot. The sauces that came with the appetizers were amazing though. The cheese curds ok and the cajun flavor was extremely light on the fries, but the sauces really helped them become tasty dishes. The parmesan wings, again, were decent but not out of this world amazing. The mushroom burger was indeed cooked medium-rare as requested, which I appreciated. It was, again, a decent burger but not outstanding. However, the homemade chips that came with it were absolutely delicious. All in all, a good place to go to with a group that wants a good Wisconsin feel. Will come back to try out more of the menu.

Yelp
I'm so glad I found this place the food was great the ambience was friendly and really nice . We asked our waitress for her recommendations and man was she on point ! Our food was great and full of flavor . Thank you Sweet Home can't wait to come back !

Yelp
My husband & I took our friends who are from out of town (not from Wisconsin) to Sweet Home Wisconsin to check out this place because they don't have a place like this back home! The ambience had a very homey, unique fun Wisconsin vibe with wooden tables and a awesome cute little bar. We ordered the cheese curds with siracha ranch and potato wedges with Cajun seasoning & roasted red pepper aioli. Both were hot, fresh, crispy & full of flavor. I ordered the Show Italian Beef Sandwich dipped with mild giardiniera plus provolone cheese. The Italian Beef sandwich was more like a pot roast sandwich which I thought could have had just a little more seasoning (tiny bit bland) or flavor to it but was still delicious! One of friends ordered the Garlic 'Guitar Lick' Burger and he absolutely loved it!!!! I tried my husband's patty melt and it was also a little bit dry and wish it had just a little bit more flavor. However, my husband enjoyed Patty melt. Overall, if you are looking for a fun little place to get some great sandwiches, burgers, & bar food staples this is a awesome little place! Our friends really enjoyed this pace!
google avatar

Angie S.

Yelp
If you are out searching for a good burger, this is really not the place to go. All three of our burgers were way over cooked. My husband ordered his medium rare, and it was so dry and hockey-pick like. And this place nickels and dimes you for every single thing on your burger $1.25 for maybe a tablespoon of kraut? 1.50 for cheese, 0.50 for a side of ranch. The meat on the burger was flavored with something I couldn't place. Maybe liquid smoke? I like a little smokiness, but it was overkill. Cheese curds were good. But not good enough that we will go back.
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
Nice place to eat and relax. We were passing through from the dells back home to Illinois and found it on yelp. Best cheese curds, son loved the bbq boneless wings, my hot dog was delish - not a fan of the fries. But the best part was the cute baby Yoda cocktail- the likes on the rim look like his ears! And it's a refreshingly south drink for summer.
google avatar

Caron D.

Yelp
Good food. Fun outside seating. Super nice staff. You'll love this place! We will be back.

Yelp
Great menu and terrific staff. Ethan and Yes Chef were great. Wide beer selections.

Tamara R.

Yelp
Ambiance and staff are terrific! Waiting for our food, it smells amazing. Cute outdoor patio. Beautiful summer night. Looong wait for our food on a busy Saturday night. Worth wait. Good burger.
